Matthew is a hardworking, diligent attorney who knows the law and has his clients best interest in mind. I hired a large reputable firm and Matthew was my 6th attorney during a 3 year litigation. There were many times I wanted to quit but his tenacity and commitment to my case kept me going. At the end of the day, we won and I got what I was owed. I can’t give him enough praise and if I ever need another attorney his will certainly be my “go to guy.”

I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank you for helping my family. You can never plan for everything that life is going to throw at you, and my situation was no different. From the first call I made to your office I felt like I was in good hands. Matt and his team took over everything. I no longer had to worry about the unknow. They kept me well informed and answered all my questions. I called and emailed all the time and Matt was always available. I felt like I had family on my side looking out for what was best for my family and I. Matt, Thank you again from all of us!

Maureen is extremely knowledgeable in so many areas of law, she is a wealth of reliable information. She represented me in my very complicated divorce and was dedicated, caring, and very professional with other lawyers and judges who clearly highly respect her. I’m also working with Maureen for estate planning. I trust and value her opinions and advice 100%. I recommend her without hesitation.

Bill Ohrenberger has been our personal and family lawyer for 35 years. I recently needed some personal documents updated quickly, and they were done with great respect and efficiency. While we are grateful that we have only needed his services for home purchase and personal documents, we know he could handle any task. His staff is wonderful and very professional as well.

I hired John F Danehey by a referral by Raymond Arabasz law in Bridgewater . john was nice enough to take on my case and thought that i had a winner . However, i was so so wrong !! I have a lawsuit against a municipality for an accident . John Danehey told me that we will always be in touch with the progress on my case . The municipality had 6 mos. to respond to the claim. its going on to a year now and i have had ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE FROM John Danehey since he took on jy case in May of 2023 , I have called him and called him all most every day and also e~mailed him on NUMEROUS occasions . I have a total of 46 calls to this atty. as well as approxamately 37 E ~Mails to him as well PLEADING AND BEGGING HIM TO AT LEAST HAVE THE COURTESY TO GIVE ME A CALL OR E~MAIL ME . He has done NOTHING for me . On his phone , (781) 545!1116(office) and his cell phone (781)858-2150 he always claims to leave a message and he will CALL YOU right back . this attorney , I do not know how he stays in business. I am 100% totally fed up with this attorney John Danehey talks a BIG game . However , he does NOT have the BITE sorry to say!! "NO BALLS " ALL TALK AND THAT'S ABOUT ALL HE CAN DO . A goos attorney must always be on the same page as the client and alwys RETURN the phone calls to the client and least advise them the status of their case . John Danehey does not do this . HE HAS TOTALLY FAILED ME 100%

If you are looking for a family lawyer Sara Trezise is NOT the one. She will destroy a family to make herself look better. If it is for a PI case where you want to win I'm sure she would be the one. #1 liar around. An absolute disgrace of a human being.

Attorney Trezise handled an automobile personal injury case for me in 2002. I had briefly worked with 2 other attorneys during the prior several months regarding this same case -- although very difficult to make yet another change of representation during trying times, I am forever thankful that I did...Not only from a legal and outcome perspective, but from a human one as well. Attorney Trezise's legal mind and expertise are outstanding, and equally impressive are her understanding and handling of the human heart and emotions. She is a credit to her profession and to humanity. To this day I feel grateful and honored she shared my journey and wish everyone could experience someone like her during challenging legal times - and otherwise as well. Thank you for the opportunity to pass this on.

Sara was very helpful with my case. She contacted the insurance adjustor and quickly received results, after I had been unable to do so. She put my best interest first and was able to get a larger settlement for me than I had thought possible.

If I had the option to give no stars at all, I'd do so. As mentioned in a previous review, Anna was highly disorganized. Hard to reach by phone, and caused more harm than good in my divorce case leaving me with less than favorable outcome due to her negligence. Failed to submit proper paperwork to the court and opposing lawyer which I have handed over well in advance. This caused the judge to force me to sell my home and favor the opposing side. Take the time to search for a reputable, qualified lawyer to represent you.

This lawyer is quite underhanded. When I met with her to discuss my case, she was all ears, and talked as if it would be no problem. However, this soon changed after the retainer was handed over, and it soon bacame clear that she really didn't know what she was doing in this matter. She did not seem to be organized, and the opposition was able to easily out-wit her, and as a result, I did not get what I felt was a good outcome. So I am down the retainer fee plus extra $, and then had to hire another lawyer to fix the mess this one left. Stay away from her ... Ms Osterberg is bad for your health, legal issue and wallet.

I hired John in January 2013. He did not file my case with the Court until the end of June 2013. He strung me along during those 5 months. If he was too busy for my case, he should have told me and referred me to someone else. After he finally filed, he sent me a bill for nearly $2000 in August. His fees are not what I understood them to be. They were much higher. He also is not an aggressive attorney. He is weak, and seems like he could care less if you win or not. I dismissed him, and have another attorney, who is 100 times more efficient - and less per hour. John has a lot of nerve to charge Boston rates when he drags his feet and could care less. I would not recommend this attorney unless you like to pay top dollar and get nothing in return.

Had the worst experience with this person. Extremely biased when it comes to parent coordinating. Very unprofessional. Extremely unprofessional. I have no idea where she gets her credentials. There are plenty of other parent coordinators. Get a good one. Steer clear from this person. She made things way worse and made things so much more confusing for my 4 yo son. He is now seeing someone due to the mess she caused. She will take your money but not do what she is hired for. Stay away from this person. We fired her.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?

  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
