After my role was eliminated, I sought counsel from several attorneys. Each one agreed that I had a case but that it would be difficult to prove. Each one passed. Not Melanie. She was in my corner from Day 1 and worked hard to catalog all the facts to file a strong suit. My former employer had hired a famous firm to fight our case, but Melanie never wavered. We procured a strong settlement that will go a long way toward keeping my family housed, clothed, and fed while I seek my next job. Without Melanie's help, the paltry severance I was offered would have left me and my family in dire straits. I couldn't be more grateful for her.

I was in the difficult spot of suing my old employer. The attorney that I hired circled Melanie in, because of her specialty and good ways of business. From day one Melanie felt like a great fit. We had an initial consultation, to be sure we all were on the same page. Then, Melanie went to work. Yes, she went through all the evidence, including every email I sent for a couple years, and read so much of it that she knew my job in and out. She asked me some insightful questions and the absolute best part, for me, was that she was supportive. There were times I could not recall specific context or details. Melanie did not grill me or cause me to feel bad; instead we would talk about the job and often I would remember what the email was about. She also went out of her way to track witnesses and gather relevant information that didn't feel significant to me, until she would explain the “why’s." It is very stressful to deal with the legal system and there are very few that can live in that world remaining kind and thorough. Melanie is one of them. I had a very solid case, yet, I am older and the stress of being exposed to such ugliness for years felt burdensome, at best. We settled for an amount that my old employer felt, so I hope they change their ways. Melanie helped me walk away feeling like I might have helped point bad practices into the right direction, and I felt ok about not going to court and dragging the drama out for 3 to 4 years. She sees the value in peace of mind but she also felt like a safe wall between “them” and me. Yep, I recommend Melanie Rasic Savarese a lot. She has integrity, is very detail oriented, and has a good way about her. If we went to court, I am confident we would have won, in only because I had good people to represent me.

Melanie is an extraordinary attorney. From the moment I spoke with her I trusted that she would analyze my case and and look at it from both sides. Once she was taking care of my case I left it her capable hands knowing she had my best interest in mind. I was able to close the door, focus on healing and trust that she was taking care of things. From reading her other reviews I see that my experience mirrors those of her other clients. How she is vested this much in each client is amazing. She wasn't just about gaining a favorable decision, she was genuinely concerned about my well being. Constantly checking with me to make sure that reliving what happened wasn't emotionally compromising me. There were days when I heard frustration in her voice with regards to the misrepresentations made by the defense, yet maintaining her composure. She was always ethical, respectful (even when the defense was not), and knowledgeable about every aspect of my case. I couldn't have been placed in better hands and will be forever grateful for the care she took on my case. I recommend her without reservation to anyone who needs an attorney they can trust to tell them the truth and value of their case.

Me and the wife recently found ourselves dealing with a tricky property manager and Thomas (during a free phone call consultation) provided helpful information to make an appropriate decision. He was personable, professional and gave us many different solutions. Although we have decided to not pursue legal action, if an attorney is needed in the future, I know who I will call.

My bully, money-stealing landlord tried to illegally threaten me into giving him more money and not renewing my lease. Tom scared the hell outta my landlord! He was thorough, aggressive, ethical, and worked hard to fight for my tenant rights in the middle of a pandemic. He defended me from all angles and knew the law! I would absolutely recommend Tom if you need a great lawyer.

I hired Tom, to help me with a crazy landlord that's that had been giving me hell at my commercial unit. When I tell you Tom was a life saver this might be an understatement. Tom was aggressive and fought for us like we where family. I would 100% recommend Thomas.

We hired Mr. Garlett to help us collect on a 10% retainer that should have been paid to us 30 days after final inspection. We have been happy with the service he's provided so far. We switched to him because he mainly dealt with construction matters (I think his family's in the business) and because he was really responsive to our needs. We're probably going to get him to help us with another job that looks like we're going to have problems with, so hopefully we'll continue to be satisfied with his services and not have to come back and update this review!

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.

Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
