A great lawyer and human being! The result was what I expected and the support from all the process, since the beginning until the end, was remarkable. Any question I had, I received a clear answer even though the question was difficult to answer. Thank you Lael for helping us in such a difficult situation we had!

Stephen was very kind to spend 45 minutes with us on our first free assessment call. Reviewing our scenario, he guided us well with next steps, he is very knowledgeable and sensible and understands the intricacies of law and how to best deal with our specific scenario. His open and honest advice for our scenario was very touching and sensible. While he is in business to make money, but seems he believes in - do the right thing, money will follow and not trying to make money from every incoming client. So glad we learned about him and connected with him!

I have contacted folks at Younossi LAW on several occasions (for my parents I-130, for my cousin's GreenCard, and ...). Every time, I have been more than satisfied. I have found Helena very knowledgable, the staff respectful, and the response actionable and timely. Immigration is complicated, costly and time consuming, and as a person who has been through F1, H1, EB2 and N300, I can tell you, for sure, Yonossi Law is very dependable.

The company I work in was a client of Younassi law firm. I have been in touch with Helena for the last 2+ years now, on an intermittent basis. I was always amazed by how quickly Helena responded, how precise she was and how helpful she wanted to be! And even more so for immigration issues which has nothing to do with cases filed by her firm. I have been asking her multiple questions on the immigration process and she always took the time to help me understand my options and clarify my concerns at every step of the way. I admire her work ethic, her knowledge of immigration processes / nuances and mostly her compassion / patience which was consistent across all interactions. And her team does the same thing as well - responding to questions / concerns with the same precision and helpful attitude. I highly recommend Helena and her team for any immigration related issues.

Helena, Anastasia, Khaled, and Darlene are just a few of the amazing individuals I have come in contact with via telephone communications or email exchanges, and each time I am just grateful to have this team on my case. Prompt replies, knowledgable feedback, and clarity in communication are a few of the skills I have appreciated from them and I highly recommend this firm to any individual seeking services provided by them.

Simon is a competent and generous attorney. When we were having a major issue in the rebuild of our home after water damage, he got on the phone with us the same day, and he spent a full hour coming up with a game plan to get things back on track. Truly kind of him, and his advice was sound and balanced.

He handled a case for one of my employees, based on the employment, and one for me, based on my marriage. I also referred someone to him and got good feedback. All handled very well, with fair fees (for someone in practice over 25 years). Would be 10 stars in responsiveness; a couple of time I received his responses to my emails before I received my own copy of the email.

I had a couple of fairly complex issues, involving three employees. I threw a lot of stuff at Mr. Yelnik, and he responded on all, without hesitating. He candidly told me I would be wasting my money on two matters, and effectively handled the third. He sent me an email when the case was approved, but I did not receive it. He sent it again a few days later when I did not get back to him.

Very fast and responsive, but thorough and will not submit a case until it is ready. Very knowledgeable and unintimidating. He treated me as though I was just as important as some of his corporate clients (Pfizer, Exxon Mobil, etc.). A couple of minor issues are that since his practice is 100% immigration law, he does not have to be, and is not, a member of the California State Bar. Also, he does not get into the office early; he has explained that he likes to try to return phone calls and emails to East Coast clients before their lunchtimes. He frequently addressed my calls and emails during the evening, early morning and on weekends and holidays.

Do not believe these false reviews. STEVEN CHASE is just a phony, wannabe "attorney". Steven Chase is just a Public Pretender: an extension of the Criminal Justice System. STEVEN CHASE YOU GAVE ME YOUR WORD TO DEFEND ME PRO BONO IF I WAS CONVICTED. YOU ARE A LIAR...Do you really think he will defend you for free? Look, I actually went to TRIAL BY A JURY OF 12 IN SAN MATEO COUNTY...and he convinced me to instruct the Jury on Incorrect Instructions... (CALCRIM). He lied to me and got me convicted on his own Inaccurate and misguided "advice". I was young and naive and did not know better. After over a decade of research and having personal relationship with my appellate attorneys, I've learned that inaccurate instructions were given to jury to decide on. Over 95% of individuals that go thru the "criminal justice system" will plead out . I'm only one of the less than 5% that take their trial to the jury. Most of these reviews are based on individuals that have taken plea deals. 🥺 Please fight your rights and do not trust this crooked fake "attorney"

Very poor service . I also made a mistake, I have sent two of my workers to Lani , and both of them are extreme disappointed . I contact Lani 3 years ago or so. I find her name on google some where, and true, I didn't saw any reviews , witch should turn my red lights on. but she was located near my office , so it was connivance I guess. also my partner was in a bit of a situation , so all I want is to take care of that issue right away . oh lord what a big mistake we did . I went to her, told her my partner in Ireland , went to visit his family, and when he asked to renew his visa, he got denied to come back to the US. so I told her we planing to get married and what's the process for the Fiancé visa . we apply for the fiancé Visa, of course. the timing was all worn, if she sale you that non sense that its take 3 months, always triple that .its not true, if she say 3 months. , expect 9 months . when he arrived to the Embassy in Ireland, we found out she field the wrong form to start with . so he had to change those things last min and rash rash like crazy because he couldn't afford to loose that Appt . ok, after he toke care of that. ( Lani couldn't help, she is in the US zone time ) he got the via to come to the us. we got married, and we went back to her because she already had our file, we apply for the green card and travel permit , again, timing all wrong of course. he got the travel card 8/9 months after , he was able to travel, during the travel, some one stole his card. and he had a hard time to come to the US, we did try to contact Lani, she never pick up the phone, was always different story , my baby, my grandfather , my Aunt, always something, she don't really have a office like normal Lawer , everything is on the air. never call back, replying emails days or weeks after same for text messages. , basically don't expect her for anything other then file the forms ( and even there they maybe wrong forms ) . WE me and my partner strangle and get him back inside to the US, we did had a green card interview at first, she never informed us, contact us anything to even just wish us luck. at the green card interview. they sent us back home because after his travel card got stolen. the Immigration transfer all the file back to London . again, we try to contact Lani , and after finally getting hold of her , she say she will contact them to transfer the file back quick and to see how she can help , according to her its take a month or two . of course, she never did , and a year after, exactly a year after . we got another interview . unless to say , when we asked her a year ago, do we need to do another Medical , she say she don't think we need another one. we went for the interview 2 days ago. they finally approved us , how ever, they send us again to do another medical , before we get approved , and send it back to them. and that what we doing now, so 3/4 years after, we still have nothing . we paid Lani. 2500-3000$ or so. for NOTHING . she did nothing . this green card interview we had, she didn't even bother to. call, email or text , to say guys, get ready for the interview. . Nothing . I am not sure is she still in service. , and if she is, I WOULD NEVER RECOMMENDED HER . I made a huge mistake with her. and I would love to warn you people . she is not going to help you with anything . she maybe a nice lady, but in the wrong industry .

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
