Attorney Michetti did an excellent job in handling my case, and always keeping my informed of what was going on. I received a great settlement, and feel that without his assistance I wouldn't be in the position I am today.

Attorney Odennell is representing me in several different civil and criminal matters. I have no criminal record what so ever and am very lost when it comes to the Commonwealth’s corrupt court system. O’Dennell has been extremely compassionate, understanding and very much helpful. After being in and out of the courtroom for the last year and a half I’m very confident Attorney O’Dennell has exactly what I’ve needed and what it takes to prove who really is the innocent person being humiliated by the entire other party involved and very same people that are giving the opportunity to protect us and our families. His expertise, knowledge and overall whole demeanor is really so much more then our small town courthouse made completely out of a bunch of people that we call nobodys. Evil hateful narcissist people that were given a degree, but couldnt even respect themselves.

I'll admit had I went off of the online reviews alone, I probably wouldn't have picked Mr. Best as my Attorney; however I was given a recommendation by someone I truly trust and listened to them. Very glad I did! At the time of reaching out to him, I was unavailable so my Mother had to do the calling & intake for me. When I was finally available, I read the reviews but took into consideration the person who recommended him, along with the interaction he had with my Mother & I gave him my retainer on the day we set along with all the paperwork. MY opinion is this- you get what you give! He (any attorney for that matter) is not there to be your buddy or pal! Give respect, you'll get respect! To address the phone calls, in the other reviews I have read: I have gotten phone calls back EVERY time I've called along with a courteous response! What I figure is, the world doesn't revolve around us: he has a job to do, one client is not all he has, you have to figure in, he's in Court all day long, working on new intakes & we are ALL entitled to our days off with our families. Don't expect people to drop everything because you feel you need them in the here & now- IF it's a legit emergency, he will get back to you in ample time! If you're going to harass him hourly or even daily with ridiculous questions, I'd probably ignore the call too! He appeared in both of my Court cases on time, even when one of them I was told I had to be there from the time they opened until the time the Judge was able to get us in! Other legal questions/concerns I've had, he was able to give me an honest run down (not taking me for my money) & on another end, telling me I have a case, but it's going to be a lengthy one & if I want to pursue it, he will be there to take it on but I have to be ready: not only for being there physically for the proceedings but also mentally! On my personal experience I rate him a 5/5 for every aspect of my dealings with him.

Not sure what the point of their services for low / no income individuals is if they are not willing to help. They completed program enrollment and then did not even know the conference date when asked when they would be there to meet for it. Absolutely upsetting and unsettling and their only resolution was to close the case and “good luck”. Save your time and look elsewhere, maybe you’ll get lucky and find someone who will have more compassion and be willing to help you pro bono with more time.

Attourney Noon has represented me in a messy child support and custody case as well as a DUI that I received several years later. After another local attourney completely hosed my support case I enlisted Mr. Noon. He was extremely attentive in court constantly writing notes and making sure that I did not get railroaded like I did in the origional proceedings. He explained everything to me in detail and upon completion I was quite satisfied with the results.. Years later I would essentially get 2 DUIs within a very short time. Mr. Noon represented me on one of them but explained that I did not want him to represent me on the second due to the location and his fees involved if he would be secured for the second case. He say down with me and went through the gaint book of lawyers in the state and through reviewing credentials told me what my best option would be. Long story short. I was found not guilty of the second DUI and Mr. Noon managed to get me ARD on the first DUI saving me from a criminal charge on my record. I can now say in court that I have never been convicted of a crime and a search of my criminal record shows no reference to the above mentioned charges. His fees seemed very reasonable given the results he obtained. I will be sticking with Mr. Noon until he retires in the unfortunate event that I need to enlist the services of council again.

I sought atty Noon for representation and it was obvious by his smug, vindictive attitude that he simply didn't care about my case. He was busy thumbing through references while I was explaining my situation. It's obvious he would've gladly taken my $1000 retainer and not given an ounce of real defense if it meant he actually had to do some work. ...it was obvious this guy should've retired long ago. Don't waste your time with this clown.

This attorney does not include you in all areas of your case. He left me in the dark so much that I did not know what was going on at any time in the process. I did most of the investigative and reseach work and that was to often not looked at or reviewed. It was never used and when I would make reference to it, he did not have a clue as to what I was talking about. I felt as though I was thrown to the dogs. I literally sat at the judges table with my mouth dropping to the floor over the things that were said, or not said, and done or not done. I never was told what was going to be happening and when I would call with questions I was made to feel as though I was interupting something much more important. I was always feeling lost in the process and was made to fell like I didn't matter. I was even told what to do and was not asked if I wanted to do this or to do that,it was decided for me and that is not what it should have been. But it is hard when you are in a situation where you are distraught and need good counsel to protect you. I was never protected and now live with a serious conviction that is actually a wrongful conviction.

I'd love to give Joel 5 stars but working with him wasn't pleasant. He never returned phone calls and didn't help my case much. He represented me in an automotive accident case and wanted to keep it open in case I suffered any future related injuries. Nearly two years after the accident I started suffering with consistent neck problems and when I tried to reach out to him, he never contacted me back. I called and emailed; nothing. Because of him I never received anything for pain and suffering. Had I represented myself I would have been able to collect something. I actually worked against me to hire him. He convinces you that hiring him is for your benefit but if he's not making a ton of money off of you, he completely ignores you and makes you feel like you're not even worth a single second of his time.

Dishonest and unethical. Took my case then had his secretary call me 2 days before the hearing he rescheduled and say he decided to not work criminal cases anymore. Turns out he had a conflict of interest but instead of just telling me he had her lie. Then he lied to the disciplinary board when I filed a complaint and told them he called me and told me it was a conflict of interst and sent me a letter that I did not have to pay the bill he sent me. He never said that to me or sent me a letter. He lied to cover his own butt

I sent a detailed correspondence to Mr. Bathgate in anticipation of our phone conference. I touched on numerous issues and provided him with my thoughts on them, and expected he would be prepared. He was not. He either 1) did not read my letter, or 2) there is no 'or'. No attorney could possibly be that incompetent. I had made several points and he stumbled over each one as if I hadn't ever brought those subject up. I called him on it, and he insisted he had read it. But then his ignorance continued with other matters I had raised. When I called him out on it again, he hung up on me rather than admit his error. If an attorney can't be bothered to at least read the concerns his client wants to discuss at conference, what else is he not bothering to do? I'd have understood if he had just admitted he ran out of time before our conference, and asked for 5 minutes to review what I had sent. But Mr. Bathgate did not provide that minimum standard of professionalism to me. I do not recommend hiring Mr. Bathgate.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
