I highly recommend hiring Tina as your lawyer. Throughout my entire situation, she kept me informed and gave me the best and worst case scenarios so that I could make informed decisions. She also puts forth the effort to get to know you personally as a client which makes a tough situation seem bearable. Thanks Tina for all your help..3 years later!

Courtney was a kind, efficient attorney who was a pleasure to work with! She was always quick to respond to our questions and helped the adoption process go smoothly. We were so grateful for all of the work Courtney and her team put into our case. We heartily recommend her!

To say that I am emotional and overbearing is an understatement but Courtney handle everything that came her way. We wanted our daughter to start the upcoming school year with our last name which is alot considering the short time frame. Courtney not only made it happen but she also went above to take care off the small sentimental things that will last a lifetime for us. She is a blessing from God and I will recommend her to everyone I know.

I was in a hit and run (motorcycle) case where my insurance was trying to leave me on my own with multiple injuries. Things were not looking good for me. My life changed the day I called Houston's law offices. Long story short, Houston and his team were more than successful in having my hospital and physical therapy bills taken care and building a case for a maximum settlement for future medical care. They are truly professional, sharp, and considerate throughout the entire process. I also want to thank Houston for his patience and attention to detail. He is intelligent and quick at moving things along. Thanks Houston for all of your hard work!

I met with and retained Kelsey for my custody case. When I met with her… we were just a few weeks from mediation. Once I paid my retainer, communication from her office stopped. I had to call and ask for simple updates & then was always met with her legal assistant talking down to me & being extremely rude and unprofessional. Her legal assistant treats me as if I am a nuisance every time I ask for an update. Then, I asked to speak with Kelsey or meet with her before mediation to strategize & was told by her assistant that she did not have time to meet with me. We went into mediation with Kelsey having little to no information on the history of my case or understanding of what I was asking for. Then during mediation she sent me to a room upstairs and she stayed downstairs in her office and her assistant would stop me if I tried to go back downstairs for anything and ask “What do you need?” As if I was a child. She didn’t greet me at all that morning.. she literally stayed in her office. Mediation started and again… we had zero conversation about what the plan was. Kelsey sat quietly unless she heard ME (her client) say something she didn’t agree with…. Then she would speak up and very rudely and aggressively scold me in front of the mediator. Then Kelsey got up during mediation and left to go to the court house to work on another case… but, informed us all she would be available on her cell if we needed her. I basically managed mediation myself. Kelsey had little to no part in it. Any questions I had… I asked the mediator.. mostly because Kelsey was again “too busy” & wasn’t even on the zoom. We came to an agreement that day & once we had an agreement… Kelsey finally showed up in the actual room with me & seemed cheerful & happy that it was done. This was the first time she was nice to me since my consultation. Fast forward to today… almost a month later. We still don’t have the order. My ex is acting insane & causing massive issues and has even assaulted me and forcibly taken our son from me during my period of possession. My ex is currently on probation for interference with child custody & has violated the terms of that probation by doing it again and also assaulting me….. and Kelsey has refused to seek a TRO for me. I do not feel safe. She has refused to address any of these issues in any way that actually created a real resolution. When I call her office for updates… her legal assistant gets mad at me & takes a “don’t call me, I’ll call you when there is an update” approach. Even sending me an email stating SHE would reach out to ME when there were any updates. So, I waited a week and still hadn’t heard back. I called to check in & her assistant was again annoyed with me (how dare I call her and bug her) Then she was like like: oh yeah! 4 days ago… we got some correspondence…. You need to review it before we can do anything with it. :/ Good thing I called, lord knows how much longer it would have just say there unattended. Yesterday I called her office again & again.. her legal assistant was so unbelievably rude to me. Her legal assistant has a habit of pushing your buttons with her terrible attitude and constantly interrupting…. And then when you get upset she puts you on speaker for the whole office to hear so she can play the victim. Also, most of the time I’m talking about the private details of my case & she just throws me on speaker… even when I’m crying & discussing super personal details and then she will just start having conversations with other people.., yesterday, I just hung up. I feel so defeated. I’m genuinely scared of this man. He has been arrested for stalking me, he as assaulted me multiple times, he is on probation for taking my child from me, and he just did it AGAIN… and my own attorney won’t even TRY to help me. All I want is a TRO so he has to leave me alone. I’m scared Meanwhile, I got an invoice letting me know they had pretty much billed me for every dime of my $3000 retainer.

I paid for a consultation with Ms Wyble and her office was very kind and accomodating! So I was eagerly anticipating the same when I finally spoke with Ms Wyble. However that is NOT the case! She berated every single thing I said and even went so far as to question my motives, regarding my kids, for leaving my (abusive!) husband. She made me cry and I actually ended our consultation early, despite the cost.

Through the tough time of my CPS case, Ms. Wyble made sure that I was completing all my services that Cps put in place. She stayed on top of the case and made sure it was as easy as it could be for me. She didn’t let the CPS worker or CPS supervisors bully me. I have my kids back and on the right path because of her! She is companionate and tough at the same time.

I would trust RB Poole with my life, literally. I have used him for two custody cases and sought his consultation on a third that was out of his work area. He may be expensive, but he makes up that in conciseness. You are in and out, no prolonged litigations and no multiple court appointments. He knows his case and he expects you to do your part to help him help you. He understands his angle and he expects you to stay on the page. He cuts to the chase- no beating around the bush. When you go in for consult, he cites the law books from by heart and gives you the truth about your case. He wastes no time and he doesn't want you wasting his. Stay on-point and keep your story relative to the case at hand. While you may find him serious and curt, you will not find him wasting your dollars on long conversations and playing games with a mealy-mouthed, skirting of issues with the judge. If you want a smart lawyer with experience and guts (I would say balls but I'm a damn lady,) AND you can handle the harsh reality of your situation, RB will get you what you need. His job is not to be your best friend-- his job is to win justice and by God, he does.

Honest, fair, not a penny pincher! RB was our custody attorney for years and never let us down or lost in court. He is straightforward, highly respected, and easy to get ahold of. His staff is amazing as well. I highly recommend him!

Worst decision I made during my divorce was to hire a man that only cares about money. He says he cares for you, but not once did he call a meeting or call me during a six month time frame. Then he decided to withdrawl from my case because of a lack of communication. He just wanted the divorce to drag on and cost more money. I told him numerous times that I agreed with the decree and I just wanted the divorce done. After spending almost $2700 I had to get a new lawyer to do what he should have done if he had any integrity at all.

This lawyer allowed my ex to be the winner by not explaining why i had to bring kids to him if i move out of the county...should be 1/2 point to meet is fair, my ex was charged with assault family violence for choking my son which he should of been in jail, plus adultery on him. She will keep you informed so she can bill you for all the emails and phone calls she receives from another lawyer, or myself. I had everything written out how i wanted it and changed for an agreement but she didnt fight for my kids safety and didnt fight for the things we agreed on. You have alot of money to spend on a lawyer get one that will fight for who is paying the bill...you!

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.

  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
