What first impressed me about Manisha is, when I called her office the first time to get some advice, I was immediately connected with her, personally. She spent about a half hour on the phone with me, listening to my situation and telling me what I should do and what she could do for me, without charge. I hired her to help me with a situation with my landlord that included illegal rental of my unit, harassment and retaliation, and violation of my quiet enjoyment. She responded to all my questions quickly and efficiently, whether by phone or email. Ultimately, she was able to get me the settlement I wanted without hassle or having to speak with my landlord at all. I felt comfortable with her professional representation in the case and she always asked me what I wanted to do before responding to the other side. She was helpful and accommodating to my financial concerns, not overcharging me for time or services, and up-front about her billing fees right from the start. I'm very happy I found Manisha and hired her to work with me. A very happy "customer"!

I hired Manisha for a real estate matter, I had her review my case, she was very proactive and good in explaining in simple terms which I was able to comprehend. I felt very comfortable in asking her questions and she clarified all my doubts and concerns. I highly recommend her and would refer her to my colleagues.

Manisha took on a very complex case. A lot of attorneys did not want to take my case because they were afraid of Housing Authority City of Los Angeles. What did she do? Drug use has been going on for 8 years in the apartment complex. Housing Authority City of Los Angeles did not want to do anything about it. They hired a few management companies to deal with the tenants. The management company did not want to deal with the complaints so it was easier for them to try to harass and evict the people who submit the complaints. When I hired Manisha, she forced the management company to do their job and had them evict the drug users. Since I kept getting harassed by the management company, Manisha helped me get into a new home (apartment complex). Manisha stopped the harassing phone calls, and letters. She supported me 100% and fought for me. The great news is she won my case. She is very professional and keeps you up to date. If you want an attorney who will support you and will not abandoned you, give her a call. I am very lucky I found Manisha. It took 4 years to find a attorney who would take the case and she was the one!

I worked with Josh on my student visa application. He was a huge help and he is a very skilled, patient and intelligent attorney. Unlike other attorneys I contacted, Josh spent hours speaking with me about my case, even before I paid him a penny! He was truly concerned about my needs and wanted to do whatever he could to help me get my Visa and continue with my education in the US. I highly recommend Josh as your immigration attorney for whatever type of Visa you are pursuing. Thanks a ton Josh!

Malcolm Wiseman is the most honest lawyer I've ever known and his letters to your opponent blow them out of the water and they can try but they can't break his contracts once they sign. Definitely the most ethical, the kindest and most brilliant lawyers I've ever had.

I hired this lawyer George Slotnick without imagining how I was going to get treated by phone with his secretaries were always rude, said they would return my phone calls but never did, I was never sent to an orthopedic, never received treatment ( never sent me to doctors ) his secretaries said I would give them a tough time, I am the one paying them , their working on my case in which they would receive a certain percentage off of, I WAS THE ONE GETTING THE TOUGH TIME, and George Slotnick like lawyer THE WORST, think before soliciting his services/work I say it from heart, he lied to me about my case, saying he did not remember certain things, lets be specific at trial before entering the room he said that the defendants attorneys were too powerful and there was not much he could do, are you serious? Your a lawyer, and your suppose to defend my case and this is what you tell me that DAY OF TRIAL?! & when I questioned him about that a little less than a year later he said he NEVER said that? Why would I lie about that? & from heart I say look at whom your leaving your case to. Just take a look at his office, No sign that a lawyer works there, windows covered, small place, frames in his 'meeting office' on the floor, like he's hiding. WORST of THE WORST honestly. a rate from 0-10, zero would be too much for him. I hope these lines, these words will help someone to avoid to go through what I went through, my experience.

This is the worlds worst lawyer ever. He won't answer your calls, keep you informed on your case with letters or phone calls, their liars, they will call you a liar to your face, they will tell you they don't care to your face, oh and if you tell them your not the only one with a complaint, they blame the complains they have on peoples unsettled cases unhappiness. They don't do any work an lawyer should do as far as investigating and calling people on your behalf etc. They are rude, and will only set phone appointments to talk to your lawyer for a month later. When you do get to talk to George he doesn't have anything to say, or any answers to your questions. He just dances around your questions like hes in a ball room. The front desk people have been known to be a hassle and supposably have been replaced , but with even ruder people. NEVER HIRE THIS MAN AS YOUR LAWYER!! HIS OFFICE SUCKS!

This office treated me like garbage and refused to answer simple questions. The attorney sent to cover Block walked away from me and wouldn't talk to me in a court. The office is besieged with calls. I once spent two hours listening to music. After the eviction was arranged, Block couldn't read emails indicating that the tenant left on her own accord and proceeded to arrange an eviction of paying tenants because he doesn't get phone messages or emails and then he writes emails saying he does. When told of the problems in dealing with what should be the simplest case ever, he SCREAMED at the top of his lungs as if he's lost his marbles. He told me to never use his law firm again. As if I needed to pay to be treated as he chose to treat me.

While no other Landlord Lawyers during Covid were willing to take my case because legitimate fears of losing, Dennis P Block was the only one willing to take my money. I asked him about the chances of winning my illegal Sub-Tenancy case and that day hungry Dennis Block himself answered and told me "People do not pay me for my good looks" so I thought I was going to win. He typed up everything about my case over the phone, and collected my money without sending me a complete engagement agreement to sign. He wrote a up a letter/notice to the tenant and sent it that same day, while I had not yet signed his engagement agreement. I did not know he was that desperate for money. The tenant received his notice the Feb 8 the same day after he had paid me and went crazy on me. The tenant then got California State Sponsored Attorney Basta firm to represent him. The case I thought was going ok, but they kept charging me frivolous court appearances while the tenants attorney was appearing remotely Dennis P Blocks attorney were going in to court to rack up the bill. Fast forward, I was at the mandatory settlement conference in June 2021, the tenant offered to pay all back rent and asked to stay, I asked Dennis Blocks attorney what do do, all he said was "Whichever path you take, you cannot turn back" what kind of answer is that? So I refuse the settlement, and I regret it now, we were set for what I thought was a trial which was set for 08/26/2021. On 08/25/2021 I flew from Maryland where I live currently for trial, but guess what there was no trail and I did not need to be there because the tenant asked for Jury Trail and Dennis Block knew this information before hand and did not tell me that It was a Non-Jury Trail and chances are tenant will ask for Jury trail, or that I could have appeared remotely. In fact the day before 08/26 Melinda (whatever her name is) who sounded like an attorney but knows how to get you to pay, called me, asking for more money "so that Dennis Block could be ready for trial" she said "we need to be ready for trail so we need a minimum of $3000." She was lying. A trial which they knew was not going to happen. I mean are they naive? Do they not know the games tenants will play? I kept asking her on the phone, if I needed to fly down or not, but she had no idea. In fact no one replied back to my emails, so I took an emergency flight that night for $500 to LA for the trial next day. I was looking forward to getting justice the next day, but the next day when I went to court for the so called trial lol there was an young attorney there with a 2 page file in his hand who tells me there is no trial today, huh?? Why did I come down? Why did they not simply reply back to my email telling me I did not need to come? The attorney at this point asked me about Evidence against the tenant? Now, all these thoughts in my mind were going crazy, I started to cry, I hardly ever cry, I said you are barely asking me for evidence now after 7 months? I came ready for trial and now the tenant wanted Jury Trial? Per the attorney, cost of Jury trail $2500 a day and could last 5 days. That's $12500 I no longer had plus the jury trial date for sometimes in February 2022 6 months later. So he asked me about settling. There is so much more to this.. Due to character limitation, I cannot write and tell you the entire agony this firm has put me through. They need to be reported. Call me if you need more info on them 3108972699 check out my review on google and yelp also...

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.

Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
