Matt Norris got us a great deal of money back from issues with a vehicle we purchased. He kept us informed and worked tirelessly to get us compensated. He kept us in the loop and made us feel comfortable about everything that was going on. Matt Norris is AMAZING! Hopefully you never need an attorney but if and when you do, Matt Norris is your man!

I contacted Matt due to a mechanical issue with a new vehicle that I purchased from a domestic car manufacturer which qualified as a lemon. Matt was fantastic to work with. He was patient, professional, and communicated well - always contacting me to keep me in the loop along every step of the way. He negotiated strongly and was able to get me to my target settlement amount. I’m so glad he was able to help me, because prior to reaching out to him, I was getting nowhere with the manufacturer and almost took a big loss. I hope to never have to deal with a lemon again, but if I do, I will certainly be contacting Matt. I will be referring him to anyone I know that is in need.

My clients recently had a challenging closing because of lender delays. This can be very stressful and emotional. Jackson Law, specifically Jessica was fantastic! She stayed on top of everything, was an excellent communicator and got us to the closing table. Thank you so much!

Arlene has been a great attorney to work with and I can recommend her services wholeheartedly. She is competent, friendly, knowledgeable in her field and she handled my case well. I was able to get a hold of Arlene quickly as situations arose and she took the time to really explain things when I didn’t understand. Litigation is never pleasant but Arlene helped make a stressful situation much less so.

I was involved in a very serious automobile accident that has required me to have 12 surgeries up to now. If it would not of been for Arlene and her associates , I don't know what my family and I would have done or where we would of ended up. The Kid that hit me had Nationwide Insurance and believe me when I tell you, "Nationwide is not on your side" when it comes to doing the right thing. They did everything they could to intimidate me and my family. Nationwide hired the biggest law firm in Raleigh , Arlene never once backed down and made me feel safe. Her knowledge of the law was very impressive, but what was even more impressive was her work ethic and her compassion for someone that was almost killed by someone that was racing to get home so he and his dad could go fishing. She was constantly on the phone with me and or emailing me. I gave Arlene the nik name of "The Junk Yard Dog" because she stood her ground for what was right against one of the biggest insurance companies in the nation. I will never forget the long hours of work she put in. I would get emails from her at 2:30 in the morning. Having her on my side made all the difference in the world. If anyone is in need of a lawyer that wont B.S. you and will fight for you, then do yourself a favor and call her and find out for yourself.

Ms. Colon helped us with an issue involving my husband's ex-wife. The issue was quickly resolved once she became involved. She was very supportive throughout the process and I felt that what I paid her was reasonable. We have had to involve several attorrneys over the years to help us with issues related to the ex-wife's games. To date, Ms. Colon has been the only one to get any relief for us. Had the case not been moved 3 hrs away, we would have continued to use Ms. Colon, and I'm sure the outcome (of our recent court case) would have been more in our favor.

Ms. Lott exceeded the expectations I had of assisting us with a long-standing and unwarranted debt. What we've been trying ourselves to correct for over two years was effortlessly resolved by her in just a few weeks. We will engage her for any and all of our legal needs in the future and is highly recommended by us.

Obviously if you have to call this guy, you are having a bad day and need someone to help. Matt answered and I gave him the story and he said this a clear cut case, he can help etc. So I filled out his form he requested which was deep and tedious. I then forwarded him everything he asked for. I have never heard back and since have called multiple times, emailed, called again, even called today one more time. Nothing, GHOSTED! HORRIBLE, do not call Update on 01/31 He has contacted me and is working with me so I edited review. Will update after we are finished handling my matter

Spoke to Matt a month ago about a situation I was having with a dealership. He sounded very motivated to take my case, he asked me for couple of things that he needed to start the lawsuit. I emailed him everything he asked for the same day, and send him the rest of the stuff two days later. I called his office at least once every day after I emailed him the documents he needed, but no one answered the phone. I kept calling his office and emailing him daily and as today a "month later", he never called me again. Very unprofessional way to treat a potential client that was going to bring money to his pocket. Contacted the office online chat, but as soon as I said that I was calling and email him for a while, that person ended the chat. The way he run his business is very disrespectful. If you didn't want to take my case, you could've said that from day one. Don't ask for documentation if you had no intentions of use it. Very unprofessional, please use another attorney.

Arlene and everyone in her office are terrific. I have been going through what to me feels like a very difficult and lengthy custody/child support case. From the very start I knew I hired the right person. I used a different attorney for my separation and that was a completely different experience. That entire process was intimidating. This has been the exact opposite. Arlene obviously knows what she's doing, but I feel like she cares about me, I'm not just another case. I can't say enough good things about her. She gives the lawyer reputation a bad name - she's fair, she gets the job done and she's great. I absolutely adore her and cannot recommend her enough!

She didn't know what courtroom my hearing was in and then showed up almost 45 minutes late for said hearing. Hire her at your own risk, in my opinion you would be better off going pro se (representing yourself). At least you would show up on time and it would be significantly cheaper. I wish I could give her negative stars.

I just can’t say enough nice things about Arlene. She is down to earth, friendly, knowledgeable in her field and just plain good at what she does. She gave sound advice and handled my case in a manner that definitely inspired confidence and lightened the stress of the situation. Her rates were reasonable and she was able to fit me in when I needed to talk to her on very short notice. I would recommend her highly to anyone needing an attorney.

Represented for a drivers license revocation within NC, which precluded me from license renewal in another state, despite owing NC no money, zero points on my license and no DUI’s! NC has a real raquet going on with their Draconian DMV. Nonetheless, after years of working with him for services I prepaid for lump sum $1,500, nothing was done for me. I ended up having to having a conduct a hearing by mail completely on my own, requiring a 45 page packet to be sent. This is exactly the type of services I was paying for him to do. It would take an extremely long time and multiple calls to get a response. His impact and my money were completely unfruitful and my money to him was a complete waste. If you have an issue with NC DMV, you have my sympathy. If you need legal representation, I recommend shopping around...extensively...and DO NOT pay up front for services to be rendered.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
