I strongly recommend Michael Reeds. I hired Mke Reeds in May 2019 when I was forced to deal with a criminal transgression. Not only is he knowledgeable with laws, he also presents himself in a very professional manner in the courtroom. He is very respected by his peers and maintains an impressive demeanor. When I first met with Mr. Reeds he immediately put my fears and concerns to rest. He was extremely empathetic and caring. He was always available for my questions and was very prompt in delivering and communications with the prosecution. He is detail oriented, professional, efficient, encouraging and truly helped me feel at ease during that trying time. I knew my transgression was serious, I shared my need to get help yet he believed in me. I talked to serval attorneys before finding Mike Reeds and was told that I was going to be charged as a habitual by every attorney, and was told that it was very unlikely of avoiding jail time. Mike Reeds was able to fight for me to only get mimanal probation. So, if you ever find yourself in a similar situation, and need an excellent attorney, I recommend Michael Reeds

If I called I received a phone call back right away and also via email. Any questions I had she was on it right away, customer service with Danielle is 10 stars not 5 Stars. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this Firm for your legal matters!!!!!

I hired Mr. Mayrand for my chapter 7 bankruptcy and I have to say he is one of the best attorneys I've worked with. He took care of everything for me, returned my calls promptly, answered all of my questions thoroughly, and made the stressful experience of going through bankruptcy as smooth and easy as possible. I highly recommend Mr. Mayrand, and should I need an attorney in the future he will be my first choice.

Bruce was referred to me by a family friend at a time that I felt like I had no choices. He met with me and after the first 5 minutes I knew I was going to be ok. Within the week he had collectors not calling anymore and a pending lawsuit against me dismissed. My husband an I completed our bankruptcy and are on the road to rebuilding our credit stress free. Bruce is amazing and to think where I might be now had I not hired Bruce is scary. I couldn’t say enough nice things about him!

When I found myself in need of assistance with my legal issues, the smartest thing I did was hire Travis Reeds and his law firm. His advice and councel was impecable. I was frequently updated with any changes of scheduling or of legal strategies. Everyone working with Travis at his office was polite and professional. He handled my case with compassion and competency. Should a friend ever face any legal issues in the future as I did, I would not hesitate to recommend Travis Reeds and his law firm.

Travis Reeds is a member of a firm that I found through what I believe was "divine intervention". Living out of state, I needed representation for family members in a variety of matters; one being criminal defense. Mr. Reeds accommodated my short notice, took time to meet with me on a weekend to discuss the matter, explained the possible resolution and agreed to take on the case. He was always very professional, sympathetic, aggressive in his representation, and responsive when I had questions. I feel fortunate to have been able to work with Mr. Reeds and would highly recommend him if given the opportunity.

Caitlin is one of the most reliable, dedicated, intelligent people I know. When it came time to make an estate plan, there is nobody else I would have trusted. She explained everything very clearly and made me feel confident that all of my affairs are in order and my family will be taken care of should something happen. I would recommend Caitlin's services to anybody in need of a family lawyer - she's the best!

Caitlin was so helpful in creating our estate plan. We went into the initial meeting not really understanding a will or a trust. Working with Caitlin was very easy and we were very pleased with the outcome.

I can't speak on the office as a whole, but I don't recommend working with Margaret Schiano. She was referred from the Law Point Referral program I have through work and her response was non-existing until the evening before I had to go to court. She was short and not very helpful, left feeling like I was bother. She asked to let her know how everything when, which I did, asking to retain her services. I've never heard back from her. If you want to work with someone who's involved and attentive to your situation, ask for someone other than Margaret.

No care about the kids, doesn’t matter what is a real life situation, how hard is the child suffering, whoever has the money has a child automatically. No matter if the poor parent has all the evidences to prove all the abusing situation, the money comes first . My daughter has a very bad physiological trauma from that service.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
