I was charged with drunk driving and I thought for sure I was going to get convicted. This guy got the case dismissed before trial. I didn't even have to pay the careless driving ticket I was also charged with.

I worked with Scott Dixon in preparation of my legal documents. Scott was diligent and patient in answering all my questions. For those legal things that I did not fully understand he took the time to explain them in detail. I would definitely recommend Mr. Dixon and will work with him in the future regarding any legal needs I may have. Thank you Mr. Dixon for a job well done! June 2021.

We needed to update our will from 25 years ago and had so many referrals for Scott Dixon that it made sense to contact him. Wow, it was like working with a friend you knew and trusted all your life. Scott explained everything very simply and thoroughly and was very patient about questions that arose. We now have all that taken care of and peace of mind. Highly recommend Scott Dixon for your attorney needs.

I am a Financial Advisor and most of my clients have done little or no estate planning. I know many attorneys in this field in my area and choose to refer to Scott because of the way he first teaches people about what estate planning is about, is specific on each document and explains in a way that is simple to understand. He has a very supportive staff and is very detail oriented. Having many attorneys to choose from, I chose him to do my own estate plan. Highly recommend him.

Highly highly disappointed in this office as for the past four years, I have been dealing with this office to represent me and a really big lawsuit against a dealership. There was a warranty malfunction on my vehicle, and my vehicle left me in an accident with a traumatic brain injury, spinal and cervical damage that needs to be attended to. I also had to give up a child at 4 months pregnant , this office has never done Their job never followed up. Never contacted me back-and-forth and today. I’ve reached my deadline and can’t even get an extension. I am stuck with medical issues for life trauma still a car payment.. thousand and thousand of medical bills! I do not at all not even one percent highly recommend this office to represent anyone in any case. this office does not care about their clients. Always an excuse from paralegals! So sad to leave you life in the hands of someone that states they care about ppl.

You are better off doing everything yourself rather than hiring this attorney. Even if you don't know what you are doing, you will make the same mistakes he does and not be out the cost for nothing. I've thought about standing in front of his office with a sign warning people not to hire him. When I can figure out a way to report him I will. I'll do whatever I can to share the word about how horrible this guy treated us. We filed for a k1 visa, I filled out the entire set of documents and took them to him, I did all of the document gathering and populating every question and reviewing everything multiple times. Nothing was missing and nothing else was requested. I did all the work for him first. Paid him and made it VERY clear that the reason I was hiring him is because I didn't want any mistakes, and I did all the work so that it would be easier and faster for him to get through his part and catch anything that might be needed that I missed. First thing he did was get our case rejected because he didn't send my payment to USCIS with the application, I called multiple times but couldn't get him to return my call, so I finally flew back to the USA and drove over there and was lambasted for not making an appointment, then when asked about it he became belligerent and blamed the credit card company and the processor instead of accepting responsibility for it. That cost us 2 months of our lives apart from my fiancé. Then we finally get a noa1, after that we waited the expected time and received a request for evidence, I called him multiple times before I could get him on the phone again because I didn't understand what they were asking for, he forgot to fill out the questions about the beneficiary having never been in any trouble with the law. That cost us another 2 months together. I demanded a refund and he came up with every lame excuse an irresponsible person could come up with instead of attempting any kind of resolution to serve his client. I begged him to communicate better and focus on small details, his response was "why does everyone always say that to me". Seriously, he said that, I'll lay my hand on a bible. I responded with "if EVERYONE is saying that maybe you should start listening". He just stood there staring at me, lights were on but nobody was home, then he started slapping his knees, becoming very animated, almost in a threatening manner while making more excuses. This man WILL NOT accept responsibility for his actions or mistakes. Everything is always someone else's fault. I'm sharing this warning to everyone sincerely, if you do business with him, you will undoubtedly regret it and deeply so. I've waited so long to post this review because I finally got my fiancé here myself, I truly feared after the way he has acted that he might attempt to sabotage my fiancé and I's process. I want my money back Mr. CHO minus the USCIS fees of course. I will not stop telling EVERYONE who will listen how horrible you are until you man up and refund me the money I wasted hiring you.

I’ve had my case ongoing for almost 10 years my papers bouncing around I had three lawyers prior to Mr Chow. His wife and assistant made me feel like family Mr Cho made me and my husband felt confident he kept us open to everything unlike the ones I had just shoving papers to sign, I strongly recommend him and is extremely grateful I cried today because I finally got my approval with his help and knowledge of the services he provides. Thanks again mr and Mrs Cho for keeping my family together.

When we hired Catterton we thought we knew what his billing policies were. But, it turned out he had neglected to tell us all the extras he would be charging us for. He was also hard to contact. He doesn't have an office manager or receptionist. We had to leave messages on a voice machine and hope he would answer our calls.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
