Evan Is not simply the Best of the Best! He is the only One who does what he does!! He went Above and Beyond to ensure that I got the best deal possible and got my original charge drop considerably along with getting other charges dropped in the case. He is just amazing at what he does. He knows the law and is well respected by judges. He is the absolute best Lawyer I have ever seen. He treats clients with tremendous respect and does everything in his power to defend his clients. I highly recommend Evan.

I was very indecisive as to what to do, even though I thought I might manage to get thru it, after talking to Mr Firebaugh and going thru the ongoing cost and trying everything including reduced payments and less interest on my credit cards it became very apparent the only way was to file bankruptcy and get on with my life. Even though I considered it a last resort but now a few years later I have my credit score back up to 750 and have higher limit credit cards and was able to help my 3 kids with their college costs, if I did not file bankruptcy when I did I would not have been able to help them out.

I'M not sure where to begin. i have had her as my attorney for over 4 years now and she is the best at what she does. I moved and she still assisted me. she is great at what she odes, with working around the clock for me in my huge huge custody battle. I absolutely love her to the core. Every bit of money spent with her is well worth it and has since the day i called her and she answered. She also been very honest and blunt the whole entire time. Jennifer is the truth! I appreciate her so much for sticking with me and being by my side. Even when it got tough, which it did, i stayed true t her and she stayed true to me. im not sure what i would have done without her. I love you Jennifer, sorry for the late review, but you already know. This lady deserves more than 10 stars for what she does! future is going to continue to be bright for you!!

Jennifer was there for me when I needed someone to tell me what to do in my case. She answered all my questions and fought for me the whole time throughout my case. Jennifer works harder than any attorney I’ve seen. Her work ethic shows why she’s the best in Wayne County.

I hired her and she ruined my case so bad had to get another attorney. That attorney said she Dilapidated my case and I could do a Attorney Grievance on her. Took an extra 3 month in court due to her. She might be a good paper pusher but as an attorney she's not.

My husband and I hired them for a child support case. We have a disabled child and I am also physically disabled so it was very scary for us to go through and they were VERY patient with me as I acted like a "Karen" and my husband and I were very emotional over the whole ordeal and called in literally in tears often. They gracefully accepted my apologies and worked very hard to make sure that our family got a fair judgement. We talked to Samantha quite a bit as well and found her to be one of the most honest and knowledgeable lawyers we've ever spoken to. Their billing was very fair as well. I would recommend this firm ten times over again.

Samantha Smith is an excellent attorney. She is very knowledgeable and experienced in many areas of the law including family law, bankruptcy, criminal and civil matters. We went to trial together on a highly contested and emotion filled divorce and custody matter. Samantha was well prepared, well-versed in the law as well as knowledgeable as to what the specific Judge was looking for during trial. Samantha's knowledge of how specific Judges view matters and what they look for is one of the many characteristics that gives her an edge over her competition. Samantha is very professional and compassionate when dealing with clients who are at their lowest points in life.

He "mediated" my divorce about as fairly as someone who would allow 1side to blackmail the other, not take into consideration the cognitive ability of one or both parties to consent, And not requiring one half to FOLLOW the original order could possibly do so. So not at all. Guess his fee was well earned... let's see if my ex actually ever pays him.

I’m gonna keep this somewhat vague just in case she reads these (even though a part of me wants her to). The friend of court or some person hired Katie (my parents pay) so I could talk to her about my situation with my dad, and in an appointment I started sobbing about something my dad did that made me feel terrible and unsafe. There was a court meeting today, and she said that I was sobbing about BEING BULLIED AT SCHOOL?? That’s not what I said at all and she obviously was siding with my dad whom I straight up told her I never wanted to see again. She called my sister hysterical for crying. She made me sound like a brat who had no problems with her dad and is just sensitive. She called my family a “nest of mean girls.” She was supposed to represent MY VIEWPOINT. I don’t understand her. It’s like she just made up whatever she wanted to say to screw me and my mom up. My mom got fined in contempt of court because of her, and I have to go back to my abusive father’s house. Would not recommend

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
