I was in a not-at-fault accident where I was t-boned and my car has been totaled. After speaking with Mike, I feel confident that, with the advice given, I will have a strong case for a bodily injury claim. Mike was courteous and professional and really gave me some great information on where to begin and what to do moving forward. I highly recommend Mike and his team for any bodily injury accident claim!

My wife and I recently were parties to a somewhat more complex than usual real estate closing in which we were represented by attorney Donnarumma. Fran aptly and expertly handled all of the details in a most pleasant and cost effective manner.

I had no problems with Attorney Donnarumma. Actually I was happy he found a problem with the title when refinancing my house that he fixed without extra charge while the previous attorney that did the closing ignored the situation.

It touches my heart knowing that when the biggest problem in my life arrived I had an attorney who to trust. The most important thing in my life are my children. And when my son's dad decided to fight for custody of my son I felt so scared of losing the privilege of the kiss good night or good morning mommy. Today I can't thank enough the Attorney Giuliano for changing the direction of my son's life. I want to let everyone know that life is easier if you have the right attorney on your side. Her kindness and honesty makes the difference. She handled every single case with the same respect and dedication. Thank you so much Attorney Giuliano for your excellent job!!! My family and I appreciate your hard and impeccable work!!! Kenia

This review is for Chloé Taylor Langer, a partner at H&G. I will never forget Chloe’s amazing knowledge, dedication, professionalism and thoughtfulness while dealing with my father’s particularly challenging estate matters. It takes a very special person and attorney to know how to handle a client when they are mourning the loss of a loved one, and Chloe was at all points so kind and understanding. She made all of the challenges of dealing with the probate court feel manageable and always did a great job of walking us through the steps. I am forever grateful for her.

I was referred to Rick by a friend, and from the first phone call with his paralegal Isabel, a genuine caring, patient, dedicated, smart, and a skilled professional, I knew I was in good hands. Rick is a highly intelligent, ethical family attorney that understands the emotional impact on clients aproaching each case with empathy and compassion taking the time to explain the process in an ease language, always with high standards of professionalism and ethical manner. Rick never judged me, never doubted me, only listened, taking the time to learn and understand the story (My Story -The “Marriage of Lies”). Rick and Isabel held my hand firmly, guiding and supporting me throughout 15 months of a painful ordeal that seemed never going to end, with patience and a total caring style that is so hard to find, going above and beyond to fight my fight and to protect me, handling all obstacles and challenges with professionalism, composure and integrity, never saying no, never giving up, never abandoning me, especially in times I was not my best self, cheering me up along the way and putting me back together as best as they could Words cannot express my deepest gratitude and admiration to all, Rick, Isabel, Leslie (my army of angels), and to all other caring and amazing professionals I met in the office. Rick is a true “Honorable” to a society that desperately needs a highly intelligent, skilled professional of “Justice” who respects, cares, protects and remembers humanity in all, specialty in the vulnerable. Rick - I was honored to be represented by you, and proud to stand next to you! Thank you for fighting my fight! Thank you for being there for me! I have and will continue to pray for you, your families for strength and peace as you fight the good fight! eli:-)

Is Rick expensive? Yes. But I also promise he’s the best divorce attorney you will ever hire. He will fight tooth and nail for you to get an honest settlement. He’s kind and collegiate to his clients but, when you need him to get nasty and fight for you he will, always. I recommend him with no hesitation. If you are going through a nasty divorce like I did, he’s the only one I would ever trust.

We had a will prepared as part of estate planning. Our needs were not complex, but the process here was very detailed for the end product of a straightforward estate planning documents. Therefore, the total cost of our documents ended up being more that double what other lawyers charge for the same set of paperwork.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
