I was charged with several Measure 11 adult charges while I was a minor. I researched the best attorneys in Portland, and Ryan was on top of that list. Adam worked for the dismissal of my case for over a year and was extremely responsive every step of the way. My case was an embarrassing one for me and Adam was very professional and non judgmental. He understands that bad things happen to good people and he will fight for you even when the circumstances are unusual. I have been involved in a very challenging case with very significant mental health problems of the other parent that, unfortunately, continue to impact the life of a child.
I was initially referred to Mr. Newsom from a friend and was a bit hesitant at first with all of the attorneys I met with. Upon meeting Mr. Newsom and discussing our case, I quickly found that he was there for the right reasons and was vastly skilled in areas that I needed the most support in.
He is able to keep a level head in very challenging situations which, in turn, allows him to see the big picture to not only focus on immediate needs but also the 'long game'. He is incredibly skilled in drafting responses and documents as well as seeing areas that you, the client, may need to improve and will direct you to appropriate coaching or resources that will benefit your family and, most importantly, your child. He is 'soft' when it's needed yet will stand strong when the time dictates and always keeps the child's interest as the ultimate goal, which was so important to me.

We were given a referral to Mr. Thomas Coan by someone very pleased with his representation. Thomas worked with us for a year as there were a number of extensions. He listened to us and gave us a clear plan of action to prepare for court. He was honest about the possibilities of how the case could turn out, which allowed us to prepare if it went to the negative. He took many notes and asked a lot of questions. There was a video of the incident which he viewed multiple times.

I retained Thomas after my previous attorney advised me to plead guilty to a felony that I did not commit. Thomas actually spent the time to examine all of the prosecution’s evidence. He picked apart and disproved all charges before it went to trial. He relentlessly fought for me and my family every step of the way. Thomas was exceptional at communicating and responding to my questions quickly. In the end I did except a plea of a class B misdemeanor. This was a great win considering the original charges were measure 11 felony and 2 class A misdemeanors.
I would highly recommend Thomas Coan to any person facing criminal charges.

After using Rapid Visa to obtain a removal of conditions for my husband (who is from Costa Rica), we received an RFE. We were extremely concerned, so we contracted Grace to help us with the process. Leora has helped our company on a number of legal issues, but what sicks out in particular is her incredile knowledge of the Portland Sick Time Ordinance. The mandatory sick time laws are complex, but not for Leora. She also not only knows the law, she actually advocates for employes at the City....and she's made real positive changes for employers. How cool is that? It's great to have a lawyer that not only knows the law better than anyone else, but takes her own time to make it better.
Leora is also an attorney who can see the forest. When you ask her questions, she takes into account not jus the law but also the business side and the psychology of working with people. For example, I asked her for a policy that said employees could not have piercings larger than 2 mm or any facial piercings. Rather than just sending me the policy and letting me later realize it was a terrible idea in application, she asked me what I was ultimately trying to solve, gave me clear scenarios for why I wouldn't want the policy exactly as I had suggested (hello, ruler to employee's face to measure piercings!) and then sent me a policy that really works.

I was referred to Dan by another trusted attorney and thank goodness because I think it would be difficult to find the best just by going "to the phone book" aka online.

Any custody case can be difficult, but with a narcissist you will be in for one of the most painful, stressful and expensive rides of your life. I knew I needed the best. I chose Dan - after meeting with several attorneys - because he actively listened to my needs and wants and responded intelligently. He also didn’t just tell me what I wanted to hear. His view was informed and balanced. I knew, no matter how willing I was to compromise, I was in for a battle. I needed an attorney who would take the high road but would also be aggressive when need be. Dan is honest, seasoned and smart. I am extremely happy with my decision to work with him and with the job he has done representing me.
Dan zeroed in on the immediate significant issues for me and my small child, as well as the future I wanted to build for us. After many years of squabbling with a narcissist and getting lost in crazy-making circles of disagreement with no resolution, I needed a plan in writing that we both agreed to. I got that and I was pleased with it. It took a lot of negotiation (because the other side created barriers) but in the end it was well worth it.
Dan also did an excellent job of distinguishing the limits of the law. Many times he encouraged compromise where appropriate and he repeatedly encouraged me to only pursue what a judge would uphold. Throughout my case he was an advocate and helped me avoid court for some time. However, in the end, because of the other side, it was unavoidable. Dan was incredibly well prepared for the trial, and he did a phenomenal job. He argued fairly and intelligently; he is a quick thinker and he didn’t miss a beat. We were successful on every single issue. This outcome makes an enormous impact on my child’s life. I would definitely want to work with him in the future and I have already recommended him to friends and colleagues.
Dan has decades of experience. He is also empathetic and has fair billing practices. Top-notch professional and decent human.

My father had a horrible accident that almost ended his life. I was stuck in a world that was unknown to me. How do I deal with insurance companies? Hospitals? Interpreting Medical Charts? We traveled from Utah for a two week bicycling vacation in Oregon. Our first ride, first hour we were hit by an RV mirror it shattered my left humerus and caused my wife to crash too with numerous injuries. Upon returning home a friend knew this firm and reputation for handling bike v auto accidents. We researched this law firm and on our first phone call late on a Friday afternoon, Jim Coon took the time to explain Oregon bike (friendly) law; some legislated by their firm, and how his firm could help us through the insurance claim - alleviating our concerns for the claim so we could focus on healing (year long process). The claim involved two insurance companies and a mountain of medical which his staff assisted in managing throughout the nearly two year process. They were able to bring about the settlement we were expecting and manage our fiduciary responsibilities in the closure of the case. If you're up against Ms.O'Kasey Esq, you better have one heck of a case and one heck of a lawyer. I had the honor to be desposed by her over a lawsuit where she was defending a Warren Buffet company. I had studied her work for a few years and she is definitely of a higher echelon than many of the ivy league lawyers that I had studied (cousin/in-law to my kids) J VanKirk and Others. She's highly competitive and will do things outside of the box to win. If you have to choose between O'Kasey or other prominent firms, Okasey's skill set, competitive nature and dedication to the art of lawyering is unmatched. She's the authority at court, judges listen to her. Very hard for any judge to go against her and perhaps would be an uncommon occurrence for that to happen.

Connor not only got me off of Federal Probation but he had the Judge lecturing the Prosecutor on ethics and verbally questioning their motives in front of the entire courtroom. Bruce was hired for a case that should never have existed as the clients had agreed to arbitration. The co-defendant and plaintiff attorneys made a deal that encouraged the judge to move the case from arbitration to the courts. That could have been a distraction but Mr. Campbell handled the issue professionally and we ultimately settled the case for an insignificant sum compared to the original amount. Having worked with attorneys in the past, I was most impressed with Bruce's knowledge around securities and security regulations, his honesty regarding our chances (multiple plaintiffs), his willingness to listen to my thoughts and answer my questions, and his far thinking planning. In addition, I had the opportunity to sit through a number of court hearings and throughout Bruce was by far the best prepared. I often wondered 1)why the others were not prepared and 2)if they ever took a course in law school around presentations! Not once did Mr. Campbell or his team receive a negative word from the presiding judge (as others did). I firmly believe that because of Bruce's preparation, his delivery style, and his ability to argue a point, the cases were settled out of court for an amount less than we had estimated. If you want a smart attorney who is always prepared, who listens to your desires and is willing to be honest, and who wins then Bruce Campbell is that attorney. I ranked him an excellent in ever category and would without hesitation hire him again.

My name is Diana Saltvick and I first requested Mr. Andy Simrin to go over a summons I received from a man that had been incarcerated for years--the case was unclear to me and I of course didn't understand the legal aspect at all..So upon arrival to his office (then in Salem Oregon) he quickly and professionally went over the court summons and put me at ease with in moments..He said what I had was a simple case of a man that had nothing better to do behind bars then to cause trouble.
