David is easy to work with, knows the courts and the rules of evidence and procedure, has excellent interaction with the judges, and gets results even in difficult cases. We have worked with him since 1988 and have had great success in difficult cases suing insurance companies and state agencies that try to operate beyond their statutory authority.

RedBird Law was nothing short of amazing! Debra was wonderful and helped us get a meeting on the books quickly. As soon as Bradley walked into our meeting wearing his signature overalls and sneakers, we knew we'd find the right attorney for our business. He was so personable and made the process extremely easy to understand. We needed to set up 3 LLCs and prepare a deed. His pricing was project-based and straightforward which felt very refreshing. And the icing on the cake was a great LLC binder for each company, complete with a company seal embosser! I highly recommend RedBird Law!

Very pleased with the services provided by Redbird Law. Mr. Lingold is very patient in explaining the many options and requirements for family estate planning. We went in expecting to need a fairly expensive trust and he showed us a less expensive option that achieved the desired goals.

Match was incredibly easy to work with and extremely knowledgeable in his subject matter. He is arguably the best will, trust, and asset attorney in Bastrop, Texas. He was efficient, timely, and provided both printed and digital copies of our paperwork. My wife and I can sleep well knowing our assets are protected and will avoid probate court if something unspeakable were ever to happen to us. Thank you Sir!

Matt was great! He took care of all my estate planning while I was going through a divorce and was even able to work with my divorce attorney as to make sure there were no issues in the process. We were able to setup a trust, will, and medical docs. Everything I need for medical issues, financial issues, and the like are all setup for my kids in case something happens. I am very happy to have this done, especially since we were working on it during the pandemic and there were real concerns on my side. Highly recommend!!

Initially, Matt met with my wife and I virtually, then sent us a very detailed questions about our wishes. It was quickly evident that he is very knowledgeable & wanted the best for us & for our desires to be documented. Matt then drafted our living trust & wills. I was surprised at how easy it was! He sent us updates as he was drafting the documents and was happy to share early drafts when I was curious how things were developing. Due to my travel scheduled he arranged to do my final signing while on the phone w/ a notary and our two witnesses - things went extremely smoothly and you could tell he has done this many times. Recently, I decided to update both our wills and trust agreements, and Matt had some great advice for us on ways to adjust the wording, and be proactive for potential future law changes that might affect how our trust would be interpreted. Matt is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and communicative and willing to do what is necessary to setup the "right" will and trust for the family he is working with. I will consider him my estate attorney until he retires! (And I'll probably try to continue to get him to help me out after that too!) I highly recommend Matt, and would suggest people reach out to meet with him. I expect after one meeting, y'all feel the same way too.

I hired Derek to produce a letter for my HOA. He told me it would cost $1,000 and take a week. I told him specifically that if the cost was to exceed the $1,000 that he was to reach out to me and coordinate as I was not prepared to pay any more than that. He agreed. Didn't hear from him for 2 months at which time he emailed me stating that he would be unable to produce said letter and charged me an additional $4,000. Any communication I sent challenging the additional cost resulted in more fees. Do yourself a favor and stay far away. If you are forced to use him for some reason get everything in writing, including the max cost you are willing to pay. His verbal agreements mean nothing and he hides behind the text in his "legal agreements". One should not need a second lawyer to keep the first one honest when reviewing legal documents. Do not trust him.

As the owner of Ringel & Brymer, PLLC, I do not just leave reviews for any law firm in town but Tuck Law Group, PLLC, merits my review. As opposing counsel they have been a pleasure to work with on many cases involving real estate and probate law. Elizabeth Beyer is highly knowledge, easy to work with, and fairly priced. Likewise Joe Grady Tuck has more experience then I can shake a stick at. They are the best lawyers on main street!

Robert hooked me in with a low ball retainer. Then proceded, in my view, to represent my adversary. I fired Robert and hired a new attorney that very quickly addressed my needs that Robert had drawn out for weeks and Robert charged me more. Needless to say hiring two lawyers is expensive!

Wished I could disagree with prior rating... but had the misfortune of using Mr. Kizer. He talked a very good game. However, in my child custody case, where my child (1 of 2) wanted to live with us, he did the following items incorrectly or poorly : *Advised us to file with the court WHILE the decree he had a copy of stated we must mediate (but we foolishly listened) * Created simple filings that the opposing counsel had to correct AND he charged us for the fixes * Advised us to get a child counselor to provide a witness for my child - while decree said not to do so (all of the procedural issues made the judge very angry) * Day of court didn't even have child counselor letter (the one piece of evidence he wanted us to get) with him ** Didn't have us fill out a standard discovery document * When we complained about the bill and the quality of work he ** demanded payment AND ** filed a letter with the court saying we were the problem * We were specific about our complaints and they were not addressed. ** ADVICE TO YOU : STAY CLEAR. Hopefully this is specific enough so you know that the complaint is legitimate.

He gave very poor advice and did not want to follow through with anything. He cost me several thousand dollars because of his incomptance.

What a Business Lawyer Can Do for You

A business lawyer provides critical legal guidance and support to entrepreneurs, startups, and established businesses. Whether you are forming a new company, drafting contracts, or navigating complex regulations, a business attorney ensures you are legally protected and operating within the law. They can also help prevent legal disputes or represent you in negotiations, transactions, or lawsuits that arise during the course of business operations.

Business lawyers have expertise in areas such as business formation, contract law, intellectual property, employment law, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. They ensure that your business is compliant with relevant laws and help mitigate risks that could threaten your company's success.

When Should I Hire a Business Lawyer?

Hiring a business lawyer is essential at various stages of business development, including:

  • Forming a business: When deciding on the best structure for your company (LLC, corporation, partnership, etc.), a lawyer can guide you through the registration and compliance process.
  • Drafting contracts: If you need contracts for employees, partners, suppliers, or clients, a lawyer ensures these documents are legally sound and in your best interest.
  • Mergers, acquisitions, or dissolutions: If you are buying, selling, or dissolving a company, legal counsel is critical to avoid costly mistakes.
  • Compliance and regulatory issues: A lawyer can help navigate complex regulations, particularly in industries like healthcare, finance, or tech.
  • Resolving disputes: Whether it's contract disagreements, intellectual property infringement, or employment issues, a business lawyer helps mediate, negotiate, or litigate on your behalf.

What Does a Business Lawyer Do?

Business lawyers provide a wide range of services that cater to different legal needs of a business. They can:

  • Help you choose the best legal structure for your business.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with employees, suppliers, customers, or business partners.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Advise on tax strategies to minimize your business's tax burden.
  • Assist with intellectual property protection, such as trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
  • Handle mergers, acquisitions, and business sales, ensuring all legal paperwork is in order.
  • Resolve disputes through negotiation, arbitration, or litigation.

How Are Business Lawyers Paid?

Business lawyers typically charge either by the hour or on a flat-fee basis, depending on the complexity of the work. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rates: The lawyer charges based on the time spent working on your case. Rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fees: For certain tasks, such as incorporating a business or drafting a standard contract, a lawyer may offer a flat fee.
  • Retainer: Some businesses may hire a lawyer on retainer, paying a fixed amount each month to have ongoing access to legal services.

The payment structure is often discussed during an initial consultation so you can choose the one that best suits your business needs and budget.

How Much Does a Business Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a business lawyer depends on factors such as:

  • The complexity of the legal issue: More complex matters, like mergers or intellectual property disputes, typically cost more than routine tasks like contract drafting.
  • The lawyer's experience and location: More experienced lawyers or those in larger cities often charge higher fees.
  • The nature of the billing arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $150 to $1,000 or more, depending on the lawyer's expertise. Flat fees are usually available for simpler matters like forming an LLC or drafting a standard contract.

It's essential to discuss fee structures upfront to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Business Lawyer

Before hiring a business lawyer, ask the following questions during your consultation:

  1. What is your experience with businesses like mine?
Find out if the lawyer has handled legal issues for companies in your industry.
  2. What services do you offer?
Ensure the lawyer can meet all your business's legal needs, from contract drafting to dispute resolution.
  3. What are your fees, and how do you bill?
Get clarity on how you'll be charged - whether by the hour, flat fee, or retainer.
  4. How do you handle conflicts of interest?
Ask how the lawyer ensures there is no conflict in representing your business.
  5. Can you provide references from other business clients?
Speaking with past clients will give you an idea of the lawyer's expertise and professionalism.
  6. Do you have experience in my specific industry?
Industry-specific knowledge can be crucial, especially in highly regulated fields like healthcare or finance.

How to Check the Credibility of a Business Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable business lawyer:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is in good standing and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for client reviews or testimonials: Online reviews, testimonials, or word of mouth from other business owners can provide insight into the lawyer's reliability and effectiveness.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should have satisfied clients who can vouch for their services.
  • Check professional memberships: Membership in respected legal organizations (such as the American Bar Association or a local business lawyer association) can signal credibility.
  • Review their website and professional profile: A well-established lawyer typically has a professional website showcasing their areas of expertise, credentials, and case success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a business lawyer, prepare the following:

  • A description of your business and its structure: This will help the lawyer understand your legal needs.
  • Any current contracts or agreements: If you're seeking contract advice, bring copies of existing contracts.
  • A list of legal issues or concerns: Be ready to discuss any potential legal challenges, such as regulatory compliance, disputes, or transactions.
  • Financial documents: If applicable, bring financial records related to the legal matter you're seeking help with.
  • Questions about fees and billing: Ensure you understand the lawyer’s payment structure and fees upfront.

By preparing these materials, you can ensure that your first meeting with a business lawyer is productive and informative.
