I have been looking for an eviction lawyer, and receive E.L. Blum's name as a respected lawyer. I wrote to him, explaining our challenge in an eviction for non-payment of rent issue. Within 30 minutes, Mr. Blum responded that he did not do eviction cases, BUT he gave me an email address that allowed me to view By Area lawyers who do handle eviction cases, and at Mr. Blum's suggestion and guidance, I was able to check out Oakland lawyers both by peer review and reviews by customers. Mr. Blum's response and suggestions have been much appreciated, and shows what a good lawyer he is - no wonder he is held in such high esteem. (Now if only he handled eviction cases......) Ed was referred to me via one of the best real estate agents in Sonoma County, Peg King. I tried to find someone in Sonoma County, but I was not impressed with the referrals. Ed turned out to be a great find. He was straight forward, helped me with selling my house to my tenant. I was impressed with how quickly he responded to my questions and promptly stepped me through the process. Best of all, his billing made sense without trying to rack up the bill. The transaction was completed quickly and at a fair cost.

We needed an attorney in the bay area for a real estate matter, but don't live there so we were unsure where to turn. We received a very positive referral from someone in the area to Ed. I am an attorney with nearly a decade of litigation experience. In a recent case I was confronted with an unusual anti-SLAPP motion and asked the most experienced, well-respected attorney I know how she would handle it. She told me to hire Mark. Smartest thing I've ever done. He knows everything there is to know about anti-SLAPPs and gave me great advice. His strategy had the other side almost literally kicking themselves for filing the anti-SLAPP motion in the first place. Thanks to Mark, I got a great settlement for the client. I'd use him any time there's a high-stakes anti-SLAPP motion to make sure my client was protected - it was money well spent.

I am eternally grateful for the representation I received from CASP. After a horrible experience with a dentist, I wrote a review on Yelp! so that other patients could avoid what I went through. Unfortunately, the dentist filed a SLAPP against me and claimed my review had caused her to suffer economic losses. I contacted Cassidy Toles to first consult and take my case in a legal matter that honestly had me up at night for weeks. He broke it down for me, giving me the reasons why it was happening the way it was, potential outcomes, the course of action to take, and that while he was willing to take the case, he strongly recommended another lawyer that he "would call upon himself" if he got into trouble. The other lawyer was great, the matter resolved itself exactly as Cassidy felt it would (while still hedging as nothing is guaranteed) and any future legal issue, he's my first contact and the first I'd recommend others to talk to if it's in his sphere.

After a relationship ended, I found myself in litigation -- a situation I would not willingly choose. Dividing property became impossible when my former partner adopted an extreme position and doubled down on it. Sunena helped me defend myself through many steps of the legal process. Over time, both the facts and the law came out. Although the adversarial nature of the legal system made that a slow and painful process, and I felt overburdened at times, at heart I felt confident because I had a good lawyer and the truth on my side. Sunena is very busy, but knew how best to employ her time and skill to resolve the matter, and where to place both our energy. She understood my situation, the outcome I needed, and demonstrated when it counted that her commitment to advocacy, safety and integrity on behalf of her clients is real. On top of that, she's a fun and interesting person with fighting spirit. In the end, Sunena was able to avoid trial and achieve a financial outcome for me that was significantly more than I originally envisioned. Given the circumstances, that felt very just, and I am grateful.

Imagine opening a mail from the IRS stating that you owe several thousand dollars in taxes because you did not properly report your cryptocurrency. My partner and my heart's jumped into a panic! We knew Prerna also does tax law in addition to being an excellent immigration attorney, so we reached out to them. Prerna got back to us ASAP, and helped us file an amended tax return while running up against a tight deadline from the IRS. Prerna so skillfully and patiently walked me through how to properly document my cryptocurrency, with the appropriate cost bases! About a month after filing our amended return through Prerna, we actually got a nice return on our taxes instead of owing the nightmarish several thousand dollars to the IRS. Prerna also gave us tips of what to do better for our next years tax return so we do not make the same mistakes again. I highly recommend Prerna for taxes and immigration. Their knowledge, service, attention to detail and care is unmatched!

My very elderly parents and I had a long meeting with Linda about updating their living trust, which went well (aside from her double booking the time and having to turn someone away). Then they waited months and months with no communication, only to finally hear that she was just too busy to get to it. Unacceptable and unprofessional.

Although she couldn't take my case directly, she went the extra mile and helped me to sort through some of the red tape around California law by explaining how inheritance law works. I wanted to share my honest opinion about my interaction with James Chanin. I called in with a Police Misconduct case and immediately while speaking I kept getting interrupted and was unable to clearly explain what happened. Mr Chanin repeatedly talked over me and then placed me on hold. Once he came back to the phone I tried to continue on with my story but it was very hard knowing that this attorney is basically telling your story for you by interrupting every sentence I made which made it very hard and confusing. The case I have is with a former Stockton police officer who robbed me off some cash. This same officer has already been found guilty and also admitted guilt in another case just last year. I was unable to relay all the facts because I was being talked over and put on hold. Mr Chanin eventually stated that he can not represent me because it’s going to take $5,000 to 10,000 to take on my case. With that said I believe that number is a bunch of bull crap because for one this case is already in the hands of the District Attorney as well as Internal Affairs. All the evidence and paperwork leading to this officers wrongdoings are available. I have been tirelessly searching for an attorney that will represent me. I had high hopes for James Chanin since I looked up his information and seen that he does handles police misconduct cases and also his mission statement says that he became an attorney to help people. He also stated that he is not satisfied until he knows that he has done everything possible to help people. He also stated that he strives to do an exemplary and professional job with minimal costs to clients and that he is not afraid to try a case. All of this I found to be not true he was definitely afraid to take on my case and he didn’t do anything to help me when he has years of experience in police misconduct cases. I am very disappointed because it seems like attorneys are looking for the dollar sign and media coverage in order to take on a case. The mission definitely is not to help people the mission is to see who has the most money in a case. Knowing that these attorneys spend years in school and working hard just to end up not helping and being the voice for the people who don’t have the help is very disheartening and disappointing.

After he represented me in a litigation matter, I have a very low opinion of Jamin Price Horn (i.e. Jamin Horn ). On multiple occasions his representation was below substandard in my opinion. For example, Mr. Horn didn't show up for a critical court hearing, which cost me thousands of dollars. On another occasion he didn't file a motion we spent weeks working on. Moreover, he lost supporting documents I gave to him. He told me "the court lost the paperwork". On yet another occasion, Jamin Horn didn't follow through with discovery requests. These are just a few examples. It is my opinion that Jamin Horn appeared to have problems with organization, follow-through and meeting deadlines. My new attorney suggested filing a report against Jamin Horn with the state bar. During the time Jamin Horn represented me he worked for Methven and Associates. I have documentation that supports the above facts.

I was battling with a contract that seemed much scarier than it actually was. Jamin was very helpful explaining what my true risks were along with a very level headed recommendation. He was also very pleasant to speak with and took the time to make sure I understood what he was telling me. I would happily hire him if the need arose.

BEWARE WORST ATTORNEY EVER!!!!! If you’re interested in an attorney that “ghosts” you this is the guy! Four months into a very sensitive case involving a dementia elder parent and this attorney disappears. This is after disclosing personal information, many documents being completed I have been unable to reach this attorney by email, phone messages and texts. I will say this attorney has no empathy no compassion and clearly does not care about his clients. The lack of communication throughout this entire case has been completely unacceptable. AND if you want to work with an attorney has no regard for safeguarding confidential information and doesn’t accept encrypted emails he again is your guy!! This attorney has no integrity and I hope no one goes through what I’ve gone through. It’s already been a tough situation and now to have to start all over is just devastating. If you’re shopping for an attorney KEEP SHOPPING you DO NOT want Darryl Yorkey!!!!!

I have been working with Darryl for 8 months now and he has been hyper responsive and AMAZING to work with. He is helping me with my immigration paperwork and his light hearted attitude and willingness to go above and beyond has made the painful experience of applying much more enjoyable. I highly recommend him as he knows how to get it done when other attorneys were not so helpful and had discouraging attitudes. He takes a "nothing is going to get in the way of getting this done" approach which you need when hiring legal counsel.

Mr Yorkey just stood me up for a document signing meeting. I drove an hour to Berkeley and waiting an hour for him. He never showed up and never phoned nor emailed. Emailing with him up to this point has also been a bit difficult: It seemed difficult to get concrete answers from him for my questions. Do NOT use this guy.
