I called Rex the day before I had court. I was in a panic because I had been talking to another attorney and not much was happenening. Rex stated that he would see me at the court house the next day. We chatted about the case for a minute and I was so relieved just by talking to Rex. He assured me that He would be there again. The day of court he was very professional did his job well and has continued to be a stand up attorney and eager to help me out. I am grateful for the opportunity I was given to speak with Rex. Did not invested his time in researching the actual case. Had a lack motivation to make a real game plan. Information had to be repeated and re explained several times costing more time and money. Did not advocate much for us and may have been preoccupied with more lucrative cases. There are much better lawyers out there.

Soooo, I am curious -
Last year, I chose out of an insanely complex domestic violence situation. Unfortunately, it took two moves and fleeing to a shelter to get away.
The first apartment that I left in 2023, was in the middle of management changes when I had to leave -
The management that was leaving was made aware that there had been domestic violence, that I had somewhere else to go, and that I needed to leave -
But I was not getting emails or calls back, and the office was closed for extended periods of time, etc...
Because of the severity of the situation and the urgency to create safety for my family, I ended up leaving, and moving into housing.
In November, I got a letter in the mail from The Law Offices of Kirk A. Cullimore, suing me for breaking the lease. They want almost $10K from me.
I know VAWA is a federal law and the most recent time that I had to leave my housing unit, the management just gave me some papers to fill out and then they moved me to a new place.
I got approved for Victims of Crime assistance in June last year, but I didnt know that I would be receiving an almost $10K lawsuit for breaking my lease due to domestic violence. Sometimes those offices help with relocation costs- But I didnt ask for that at that time because I didnt have this then.
My offender is currently in jail, and I am working to get a protective order and legally change my name, however...
In the meantime, I have a lawsuit coming at me for 10K that if I had, I still wouldnt give them.
I really need some guidance here, because it kinda feels like theyre harrassing me, but I dont know my rights.

Sorry, new to the State and just catching up on the straight up CORRUPTION — this firm is owned by Senate Majority Leader Kirk Cullimore. Our senate majority leader literally profits from evicting tenants?? What in the actual heck?? This is absolutely insane.

Mr. Cullimore directly wrote and work with the legislature on almost all laws which currently exist relating to landlords and residential rentals.
No firm files more eviction cases nor more collection cases for landlords.”

Chad's literally D league divorce lawyer. Cost me 10s of thousands of dollars and his lack of knowledge was shown by a Judge who scolded him in court and told him that he did not know divorce cases that set precedence to properly inform me on whether or not I should go to court her statement was that I shouldn't have even been there. And of course you know what leaching lawyers do.

Please read this before hiring Chad Shattuck or his firm to represent you. I am a former client of Chad’s and I am only writing this review after trying multiple times to resolve my concerns with him and his law firm. Their unwillingness to stand by their work and make things right has been very disappointing and makes what would have been a 2 or 3-star review (or no review at all) a definite 1-star review. While he was representing me, Chad was okay to work with and I didn’t have too many complaints, but after my divorce went through, I discovered critical mistakes were made in my divorce paperwork relating to retirement account division that led to an unexpected tax loss of $3,700. In speaking with other attorneys, the penalty could have been avoided if Chad understood basic retirement account division in divorce, had advised me appropriately, and drafted my paperwork correctly. As a new single mom, having to come up with thousands of dollars I was not planning on was financially painful to me and my kids at an already stressful time. When I contacted Chad and pointed out the problem, he was dismissive and initially told me I didn’t know what I was talking about. When I pursued the issue and pointed him to the specific things that he had not done correctly, he changed his position and told me he had never advised me to do it that way. When given proof that he did in fact advise me incorrectly, he stopped responding to me. I understand everyone makes mistakes. What upset me most was that when I respectfully brought the mistakes to his and his law firm’s attention, instead of looking into the issue and trying to make it right, they have done everything possible to avoid responsibility for the mistakes made. This has been extremely disappointing because when you pay a professional like Chad thousands of dollars for their expertise and advice in order to have things done correctly, there is a certain level of expectation that when mistakes are made, they will stand by their work and make things right, and this has simply not happened. Avoid them if you can!
