We just completed a much necessary amendment and restatement of our Family Trust, which was originally drafted over 30 years ago. Life developments (family affairs, economic factors, health issues, estate laws etc.) are ever-changing and mandate frequent reassessments to assure that our estate and last wishes will be properly attended to. Fortunately, we have had the invaluable guidance of Michille Yu (at Longevity Law) to help us navigate through the nuances of Estate Law and our evolving family dynamics. Michelle knows intimately current estate planning regulations and is aware of potential changes in the legal landscape with current legislations. She provided detailed explanations and practical suggestions to guide us in making amendments to our Trust for the benefit of our heirs. It helps that her core values of family, trust, hard work, and focus on fairness / equality dovetail closely with ours. That is the reason Longevity Law has assisted in the estate planning of 3 generations of our family over the past 3 decades. The value of her services was “priceless”, but in reality….her cost was more than fair. The revisions were completed in an efficient and timely manner. We recommend Longevity Law highly. and without reservation. I’m certain we will continue to work with Michelle through the unpredictable course of our life and death. At least, we have peace of mind that our heirs will have Longevity Law to guide them through the unfortunate, daunting legal complexity of one’s passing, while still having to deal with their emotional bereavement. Don and Maria Ho

Referred to Clint to write a patent settlement. He quickly picked up on the context and finished the agreement on time and below my expected cost. I liked how he explained the patent license laws in a way everyone on our team could understand. I recommend Clint and would work with him again.

I cannot say enough positive things about the work Alison Sayar has done for our son and family. Over the last 3 years, she has advocated and advised during every step of the way during his IEP meetings and settlements negotiations. She was critical in our success in settling with our school district. Alison formerly worked for a very prestigious law firm in Palo Alto, but her heart led her to Special Education Law. She is a polished professional who is fair, firm, yet personable. She will provide as much or as little support as you desire. We are always proud to have her by our side and I recommend her services to everyone.

I'm grateful to Scott Kaufman for sharing his knowledge and expertise in order to help me understand the best steps for my lemon law claim. He immediately explained the extent to which a lawyer would be able to help and offered clear, detailed explanations of how the circumstances of my situation affected the potential outcomes. Following his recommendation, I am not being taken on as a client, but I appreciate his guidance and would feel confident hiring him as my attorney in the future.

We worked with Deborah Radin as our estate planning attorney. She is very professional, courteous and a great listener. She helped us think through our needs without rush, guided us alongthewayand put together all the necessary documents accordingly. We would have no hesitation in recommending her for estate planning services.

My father, who had a cognitive impairment walked into this office in October 2015, a few days after marrying ( confidential marriage license). He signed over his house ( he had sole title) to his wife. She then was allowed to put it into a revocable trust. I question the morals and values. When I went to another lawyer for help and social services - they were not surprised by this. Do your homework - no lawyer with a moral compass would allow this.

We had our trust completed by Linda Kramer, a few years ago. We were very pleased with her expertise, professionalism and she was highly recommended by our financial advisor. Over the years, things have changed and now we need to update our trust with some changes and updated information. We met with Deborah Kramer and we also found her to be extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, caring and listened to us. She presented to us some different options along with scenarios to assist us in making a informed decision on our final changes to our trust. We find that their fees are reasonable and comparable to other law firms. Since I used to work for a large Corporate Law Firm this is familiar to me. For us, when dealing with something as critical as a Trust and a Will, we find that the most important factor to us is finding the right attorney that you trust and where one has complete confidence in to execute what needs to be done and carried out accordingly. In all of our visits, we always arrived early and we were seen promptly at our scheduled appointment time this has been our overall experience. If you are searching for a firm that is reputable, knowledge and has compassion, we would highly recommend that you at least visit with them to make your own informed decision. A trust or a will is not something to be treated lightly or a time to bargain search for the best price. The saying goes, we get what we pay for. We highly recommend this firm, so you can have peace of mind that your loved ones are taken care of when the time comes.

I am writing this review to express my profound frustration and disappointment with the legal services provided by Attorney Andy. My experience has been nothing short of infuriating, and I feel compelled to share my feelings. From the outset, the lack of effective communication has been maddening. My attempts to engage in meaningful dialogue were met with silence or, at best, delayed and inadequate responses. This level of disregard for a client's concerns is not only unprofessional but also deeply aggravating. Financial matters added to my exasperation. Despite providing a detainer upon hiring, I received no clarity on how these funds were utilized. This lack of transparency only deepened my mistrust and irritation. Moreover, the complete lack of awareness about critical dates pertaining to my case left me blindsided and seething with frustration. It is inconceivable that an attorney could be so neglectful in keeping a client informed. My experience with Attorney Andy Chen has left me not only angry but also deeply disillusioned. The sheer incompetence, disregard, and lack of professionalism have shattered any semblance of trust I had. I am appalled by the overall handling of my case and, as a result, would strongly caution others from seeking his services.

I have contacted and consulted Andy Chen for a couple of times regarding divorce settlement issue bothering one of my family members. Andy is very professional and knowledgeable. He was also very honest about how and what he could help with the case. Though we didn’t eventually have him as our attorney, his consultation has a very positive impact on the way to proceeding the divorce case. I really appreciated and I highly recommend Andy to anyone who needs consultation to hire an attorney. You may watch his videos, call him, and consult him. He will provide you with sincere and honest advice for appropriate actions.

I found Andy to be EXTREMLY helpful and actually answered the phone and spoke with me for 30 minutes for free! His easy demeaner and wealth of knowledge helped me to decide which way to go with my case. I only wish I lived closer so I could retain him as my primary attorney! He's 8 hours away..:(

What a Business Lawyer Can Do for You

A business lawyer provides critical legal guidance and support to entrepreneurs, startups, and established businesses. Whether you are forming a new company, drafting contracts, or navigating complex regulations, a business attorney ensures you are legally protected and operating within the law. They can also help prevent legal disputes or represent you in negotiations, transactions, or lawsuits that arise during the course of business operations.

Business lawyers have expertise in areas such as business formation, contract law, intellectual property, employment law, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. They ensure that your business is compliant with relevant laws and help mitigate risks that could threaten your company's success.

When Should I Hire a Business Lawyer?

Hiring a business lawyer is essential at various stages of business development, including:

  • Forming a business: When deciding on the best structure for your company (LLC, corporation, partnership, etc.), a lawyer can guide you through the registration and compliance process.
  • Drafting contracts: If you need contracts for employees, partners, suppliers, or clients, a lawyer ensures these documents are legally sound and in your best interest.
  • Mergers, acquisitions, or dissolutions: If you are buying, selling, or dissolving a company, legal counsel is critical to avoid costly mistakes.
  • Compliance and regulatory issues: A lawyer can help navigate complex regulations, particularly in industries like healthcare, finance, or tech.
  • Resolving disputes: Whether it's contract disagreements, intellectual property infringement, or employment issues, a business lawyer helps mediate, negotiate, or litigate on your behalf.

What Does a Business Lawyer Do?

Business lawyers provide a wide range of services that cater to different legal needs of a business. They can:

  • Help you choose the best legal structure for your business.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with employees, suppliers, customers, or business partners.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Advise on tax strategies to minimize your business's tax burden.
  • Assist with intellectual property protection, such as trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
  • Handle mergers, acquisitions, and business sales, ensuring all legal paperwork is in order.
  • Resolve disputes through negotiation, arbitration, or litigation.

How Are Business Lawyers Paid?

Business lawyers typically charge either by the hour or on a flat-fee basis, depending on the complexity of the work. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rates: The lawyer charges based on the time spent working on your case. Rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fees: For certain tasks, such as incorporating a business or drafting a standard contract, a lawyer may offer a flat fee.
  • Retainer: Some businesses may hire a lawyer on retainer, paying a fixed amount each month to have ongoing access to legal services.

The payment structure is often discussed during an initial consultation so you can choose the one that best suits your business needs and budget.

How Much Does a Business Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a business lawyer depends on factors such as:

  • The complexity of the legal issue: More complex matters, like mergers or intellectual property disputes, typically cost more than routine tasks like contract drafting.
  • The lawyer's experience and location: More experienced lawyers or those in larger cities often charge higher fees.
  • The nature of the billing arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $150 to $1,000 or more, depending on the lawyer's expertise. Flat fees are usually available for simpler matters like forming an LLC or drafting a standard contract.

It's essential to discuss fee structures upfront to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Business Lawyer

Before hiring a business lawyer, ask the following questions during your consultation:

  1. What is your experience with businesses like mine?
Find out if the lawyer has handled legal issues for companies in your industry.
  2. What services do you offer?
Ensure the lawyer can meet all your business's legal needs, from contract drafting to dispute resolution.
  3. What are your fees, and how do you bill?
Get clarity on how you'll be charged - whether by the hour, flat fee, or retainer.
  4. How do you handle conflicts of interest?
Ask how the lawyer ensures there is no conflict in representing your business.
  5. Can you provide references from other business clients?
Speaking with past clients will give you an idea of the lawyer's expertise and professionalism.
  6. Do you have experience in my specific industry?
Industry-specific knowledge can be crucial, especially in highly regulated fields like healthcare or finance.

How to Check the Credibility of a Business Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable business lawyer:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is in good standing and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for client reviews or testimonials: Online reviews, testimonials, or word of mouth from other business owners can provide insight into the lawyer's reliability and effectiveness.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should have satisfied clients who can vouch for their services.
  • Check professional memberships: Membership in respected legal organizations (such as the American Bar Association or a local business lawyer association) can signal credibility.
  • Review their website and professional profile: A well-established lawyer typically has a professional website showcasing their areas of expertise, credentials, and case success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a business lawyer, prepare the following:

  • A description of your business and its structure: This will help the lawyer understand your legal needs.
  • Any current contracts or agreements: If you're seeking contract advice, bring copies of existing contracts.
  • A list of legal issues or concerns: Be ready to discuss any potential legal challenges, such as regulatory compliance, disputes, or transactions.
  • Financial documents: If applicable, bring financial records related to the legal matter you're seeking help with.
  • Questions about fees and billing: Ensure you understand the lawyer’s payment structure and fees upfront.

By preparing these materials, you can ensure that your first meeting with a business lawyer is productive and informative.
