BEWARE!!! What started out as great service from Mr.Rosenthall, has become a nightmare!!! Services paid in full. Over a year and expungements are not complete, 5+ emails and phone calls never returned. His negligence has led to denial of employment for charges that have been approved due to them being tied to a charge that is in need of a hearing!

This firm provided exceptional professional service. The advice was always objective without trying to push a particular course of action on us. We were presented with an array of options and allowed to weigh the pros and cons freely. The firm was very responsive whenever we had questions or needed help and communication was easy. Service time was meticulously tracked. We never once felt as if this firm was trying to take advantage of us. The firm did help us achieve the goal we were seeking. It is very difficult to find a law firm that works with tenants for landlord-tenant issues but this one does. Highly recommend!

We used McCarthy and Akers for two of our house closings (selling and buying), and we were very impressed by their professionalism, friendliness, and willingness to explain each step of the process. And when our buyer’s title company had made an error on the buyer’s documents, McCarthy and Akers caught it and got everything squared out with them before we signed the paperwork.
We were so impressed that my wife and I came back to them when we decided to make our wills. Doug McCarthy, Dan Mitchell, and their team made the process extremely simple and explained all of our options that made it very easy to understand. We filled out a small packet ahead of time to give them pertinent information, and when we came for our initial meeting, Doug and Dan were prepared, and we were able to go through all the necessary information in 30 minutes. They had refreshments for us as well to top it all off! I recommend McCarthy and Akers to my family and friends, and I would do the same for anyone who needs the services they have to offer.

Since I relocated to this area 30 years ago we have worked together on many successful projects thanks to him and his team’s skill & ability to get projects approved. I have always found them to be very professional, informed as to the issues relating to my projects and prepared when it came to presentations to boards, planning commissions and councils. I am very much impressed by his work ethic and his approach toward difficult situations that came across in my case. The best thing about him was that whenever a crisis came about, he would present the situation to me in a very calm manner and at the same time give me a set of possible solutions to the problem.. He would then let me choose the approach that I felt most comfortable with. This made me feel that I am in very good hands. He was very nice to spend time making me understand legal language in layman terms. Since the beginning he has been very supportive of my financial situation and I am very grateful to him for that. He is a very strong and effective lawyer and more so he is a gem of a person by heart. His advice has always been very valueable to me. Mr. Harvill represented me in both an extremely complicated divorce and real estate matter. At all times he was well prepared and researched every complicated issue thoroughly. At no time was he unavailable. In court he was thoroughly prepared with complex matters. His interaction with opposing counsel and the Judge was highly professional and courteous. My family has been working with Phil Menke for nearly 3 years to resolve the probate of the estate of a cousin. Mr. Menke is so far behind in processing the estate that he has been censured by the probate court and had to pay numerous fines. He no longer responds to our emails in a timely fashion. Such a disappointment.

Old Town Advocates, has helped me and my family with a few cases. I'm so grateful for the assistance that Old Town Advocates provided to us during the difficult times we were going through. Ms. Stephanie Stinson represented me in a child custody, divorce, and property settlement agreement cases. I can't imagine of the outcome of my situation if Ms. Stinson, would not have been there to guide me and defend my rights along the way. She was not only a great support to us, but also the best representation we could have. I truly appreciate the high level of empathy, compassion, care, and communication I have received from her throughout this complicated process. Mr. Armistead is a fantastic attorney. Not only is he experienced, but he is extremely knowledgeable and detail-oriented. Nothing gets past him. He has a commanding presence in the courtroom and knows procedures and evidence like the back of his hand. I would certainly not want to be the attorney against whom he is trying a case. a while ago, The Manassas court attorney referral department referred me ( for a reasonable of $75.00 or so ) to contact attorney Scott J. Newton. My first meeting with Attorney Newton was great he was very informative on my options to my case that I had won judgement by the court . couple months later I decided to hire Mr. Scott J. Newton and use his services to follow-up and continue my small case. So I went ahead and called his Manassas office, a receptionist answered. I asked her if I could speak with attorney Newton regarding a previous consultation I had with the Attorney, she asked me multiple questions as if she was checking if my case was worth the attorney's time. then i was transferred to a different receptionist, I again asked if I could speak with attorney Newton, then i was transferred back to the first receptionist. I again asked if attorney Newton was available. Her responds was " "Mr. Newton Does recall speaking with you but you will have to schedule an appointment again with Mr. Newton. You will have to pay a fee of $250.00 for your visit again " Wow !
So my personal experience is that, Mr. Newton and his staff are all about their own benefit and not about helping. So I don't think its fair to pay this attorney 250.00 just to fully refresh his memory. I felt this was so unfair, Was it because my case was not as profitable for him ? maybe so..

Paid an hourly rate for consultation only to be given a business card and some horrible NON-legal advice. I did not retain him as he seemed more interested in getting my check and offered little legal guidance that I needed at the time. Do not waste your time on this lawyer. There are much better options out there.
