Mr. Larue has been very instrumental in the review and negotiation process regarding contracts for my business. He has been a valuable recource in protecting the interests of my company as well as a practical resource with regard to the pursuit of claims against delinquent manufacturers. I have also relied on Mr. Larue for personal legal advice and he has been a very integral part of estate planning and settlements. I strongly recommend him and his associates as they have been very reliable and knowledgeable and have gone above and beyond what has been asked of them.

Aubrey provided expert help to our family as we navigated some difficult issues. She was compassionate and honest. She did not try to price gauge like most attorneys but rather kept our personal situation in mind as she helped us.

I do not recommend anyone use this attorney for a divorce especially with or without children because my ex and I have a divorce case and we dont have any kids together but since we have property he stated we have nothing to fight over mind you I am a victim of DV and he didnt want to submit anything for evidence. He wouldnt ever meet me in the office to do anything it was all over text messages and I have the messages to prove it and was very rude when hes supposed to be working for me not me working or him. I have fired him as of today 9/10/2024. He doesnt like to respond to text messages either even when you have gave him plenty of time as in 4 business days to get back to you and he wants to come back with the world doesnt resolve around you and your not my only client as I sent him a text friday afternoon and never got a response until that wed or thursday the following week saying a reply would be nice then im the bad person. And then send me emails he sent to my exes attorney making me look like the bad person saying you ready to fight over an apartment? which we dont live in an apartment and to add canine parenting rights when hes the one that stated we could fight over me keeping both dogs and I said no. This guy is a complete joke.

I’ve been a client of Michael G Foley for over 2 and a half years now. He’s superb at what he does in custody cases and litigation. He’s attentive, smart and always has his clients best interest in mind. I highly recommend him if you’re looking for an attorney!

This attorney should have no reason to intimidate a female in a court room, intimidation is a criminal charge and is against the law. I have no respect for any male attorney tring to intimidate a female in a court, & Also having possession of a copy of a check that belonged to Me and not his client, is crazy of an attorney, NO where on My check had his clients name on it at all, but he somehow had possession of a copy of my check that I signed, that i didnt give him permission to my information. VERY CORRUPT. JUSTICE OVER CRIMINALS. LACK OF TRUE JUSTICE

This review is specifically for Schafer. Schafer is one of the WORST attorneys in Muncie. He took the $1,400 fee and basically did NOTHING. He didn’t fight during my divorce proceedings. I am over paying for child support by a TON, I know because I have a new attorney and the new amount is ridiculously lower. His secretary told me that because I make so little because of how high child support is per week that I can pick up overtime so I can live. My exs attorney then used it against me and the mediator told me that the secretary lied about that. I had proof that my ex and her attorney lied to the judge about how much she was paying for daycare, receipts from the daycare that showed she was paying HALF of what she was claiming, and they STILL did nothing. I called them to tell them that I was paid up on my back child support and they didn’t do anything. I had to call the courts MYSELF and they had to make my exs attorney send in the new paperwork. I have overpaid by over $400. We had mediation in July and I had 7 days to get my things from my father’s home, which she was told to leave at the end of the school year and refused, then we “agreed” to $10 less a week for child support. That wasn’t given to the court until JANUARY! Save yourself time and money and go with literally ANYONE else.

I paid him 8000 dollars for a case with dcs he told me I had a law suit and he was filing paperwork. He never filed paperwork for lawsuit. I am the one that fought in court for my daughter not him I got my daughter back and my case closed out. I asked repeatedly about the lawsuit because he said there was a statue of limitations on it but he never filed so I kept contacting his paralegal about what was going on with my lawsuit or the return of some of my money and he just kept putting me off and never returning my calls then today I receive a paper from the courts saying he removed himself from my case. He is stealing from the poor people to make himself rich it's not fair he is not a professional he is all talk and no show I would not recommend him to anyone and anyone that reads this we should all come together and get rid of his law firm all together. He just keeps stealing from people just read most of the other reviews thank you

Me and my fiancé hired Rolin for my son. He doesn’t think we lost but after court, it was pretty devastating. He didn’t ask the questions he was supposed to so the judge would know what was going on. He was late then when I called his secretary looking for him, she said he just pulled up and he just let her know the judge was going to be late. I said I feel like he should be in here letting us know but instead he was in his truck playing games on his phone, when he finally came in, he only briefed us for five minutes. He didn’t ask the right questions. My son did not know what to say so the judge didn’t feel like it was imperative they not live in the Homeless Shelter. With his jobless mother. We finally get done. I’ll let him know how to Sleeze that we are with the results. He said we are going to get a final bill, but he would zero that out because it was not our fault that the judge was late today. I get a call from him, letting me know That he’s not happy on how I spoke to the paralegal on how to please I am with everything that he did we paid him $2500 and we never met with him in person. Talk to him twice on the phone and we were lucky if the paralegal answered an email , so he said since he’s not gonna go by his word, he’s gonna go by the contract and charge us the additional $633 do not use him

What a Business Lawyer Can Do for You

A business lawyer provides critical legal guidance and support to entrepreneurs, startups, and established businesses. Whether you are forming a new company, drafting contracts, or navigating complex regulations, a business attorney ensures you are legally protected and operating within the law. They can also help prevent legal disputes or represent you in negotiations, transactions, or lawsuits that arise during the course of business operations.

Business lawyers have expertise in areas such as business formation, contract law, intellectual property, employment law, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. They ensure that your business is compliant with relevant laws and help mitigate risks that could threaten your company's success.

When Should I Hire a Business Lawyer?

Hiring a business lawyer is essential at various stages of business development, including:

  • Forming a business: When deciding on the best structure for your company (LLC, corporation, partnership, etc.), a lawyer can guide you through the registration and compliance process.
  • Drafting contracts: If you need contracts for employees, partners, suppliers, or clients, a lawyer ensures these documents are legally sound and in your best interest.
  • Mergers, acquisitions, or dissolutions: If you are buying, selling, or dissolving a company, legal counsel is critical to avoid costly mistakes.
  • Compliance and regulatory issues: A lawyer can help navigate complex regulations, particularly in industries like healthcare, finance, or tech.
  • Resolving disputes: Whether it's contract disagreements, intellectual property infringement, or employment issues, a business lawyer helps mediate, negotiate, or litigate on your behalf.

What Does a Business Lawyer Do?

Business lawyers provide a wide range of services that cater to different legal needs of a business. They can:

  • Help you choose the best legal structure for your business.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with employees, suppliers, customers, or business partners.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Advise on tax strategies to minimize your business's tax burden.
  • Assist with intellectual property protection, such as trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
  • Handle mergers, acquisitions, and business sales, ensuring all legal paperwork is in order.
  • Resolve disputes through negotiation, arbitration, or litigation.

How Are Business Lawyers Paid?

Business lawyers typically charge either by the hour or on a flat-fee basis, depending on the complexity of the work. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rates: The lawyer charges based on the time spent working on your case. Rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fees: For certain tasks, such as incorporating a business or drafting a standard contract, a lawyer may offer a flat fee.
  • Retainer: Some businesses may hire a lawyer on retainer, paying a fixed amount each month to have ongoing access to legal services.

The payment structure is often discussed during an initial consultation so you can choose the one that best suits your business needs and budget.

How Much Does a Business Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a business lawyer depends on factors such as:

  • The complexity of the legal issue: More complex matters, like mergers or intellectual property disputes, typically cost more than routine tasks like contract drafting.
  • The lawyer's experience and location: More experienced lawyers or those in larger cities often charge higher fees.
  • The nature of the billing arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $150 to $1,000 or more, depending on the lawyer's expertise. Flat fees are usually available for simpler matters like forming an LLC or drafting a standard contract.

It's essential to discuss fee structures upfront to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Business Lawyer

Before hiring a business lawyer, ask the following questions during your consultation:

  1. What is your experience with businesses like mine?
Find out if the lawyer has handled legal issues for companies in your industry.
  2. What services do you offer?
Ensure the lawyer can meet all your business's legal needs, from contract drafting to dispute resolution.
  3. What are your fees, and how do you bill?
Get clarity on how you'll be charged - whether by the hour, flat fee, or retainer.
  4. How do you handle conflicts of interest?
Ask how the lawyer ensures there is no conflict in representing your business.
  5. Can you provide references from other business clients?
Speaking with past clients will give you an idea of the lawyer's expertise and professionalism.
  6. Do you have experience in my specific industry?
Industry-specific knowledge can be crucial, especially in highly regulated fields like healthcare or finance.

How to Check the Credibility of a Business Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable business lawyer:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is in good standing and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for client reviews or testimonials: Online reviews, testimonials, or word of mouth from other business owners can provide insight into the lawyer's reliability and effectiveness.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should have satisfied clients who can vouch for their services.
  • Check professional memberships: Membership in respected legal organizations (such as the American Bar Association or a local business lawyer association) can signal credibility.
  • Review their website and professional profile: A well-established lawyer typically has a professional website showcasing their areas of expertise, credentials, and case success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a business lawyer, prepare the following:

  • A description of your business and its structure: This will help the lawyer understand your legal needs.
  • Any current contracts or agreements: If you're seeking contract advice, bring copies of existing contracts.
  • A list of legal issues or concerns: Be ready to discuss any potential legal challenges, such as regulatory compliance, disputes, or transactions.
  • Financial documents: If applicable, bring financial records related to the legal matter you're seeking help with.
  • Questions about fees and billing: Ensure you understand the lawyer’s payment structure and fees upfront.

By preparing these materials, you can ensure that your first meeting with a business lawyer is productive and informative.
