They only take clients that are assumed innocent. Someone like myself who was given a ticket for the car accident they want take on as a client. You see I had a seizure and blacked out while driving and my friend and I were both hurt and taken to the hospital.I did not know that at the time because I had never had seizures before that moment. They tested me for alcohol and drugs and I was negative for both. The officer wrote me a ticket for driving on the wrong side of the rode. I knew I had not fallen asleep but it was late in the evening so that’s what they assumed after I tested negative for alcohol and drugs So we were both injured my friend more than myself but we were both injured physically and emotionally very much. So a few more weeks go bye and I’m leaving my aunts house who I had been staying with for a few nights because she had just moved back into town from California. So long story short I wake up after sleeping almost 12hours and leave my aunts that morning and on the highway about a hour later I total my truck and it catches on fire and I’m pulled from the truck unconscious and taken to the ER where there I finally wake up to them telling me I had just been in a accident.I was alone and no one else was involved I was not arrested but I was given a dwi even though I tested negative for drugs and alcohol. So I need a lawyer for that wreck as well as my first wreck. I was hospitalized again and another concussion with more injuries. I knew immediately I had just woke up from a great night’s rest so there was no way I had fell asleep. I knew I had a medical condition.they told me I had had a seizure and blacked out. I knew that is what had happened just a few weeks earlier with my friend and I. After going home after several more days in the hospital my friend found me having seizures on the floor foaming at the mouth having convulsions. They ran outside in the caldesac screaming that I was dying inside. Several neighbors came in and saw me having the seizures and called 911. So again I black out and when I finally wake up I’m in the Emergency Room again. It has been documented that I’m having all these seizures that cause you to blackout. I’ve had a rough couple of months with test in the hospital to see if it was any infection around my heart which they found there wasn’t so it’s my brain that’s causing the seizures and I’m seeing neurologist now and taking new medications twice a day to help control the seizures. So today finally feeling good enough tocall a lawyer so I find one on Google and they have five stars so I think wow. They must be great. So I call them and talk to them for almost a hour explaining everything and as soon as they ask me my friends name and number they tell me they don’t take client’s who are guilty since I was given a ticket. I was surprised that they said there policy is that they want help someone like myself who obviously has having some kind of medical condition that he’s just learning he has. So ok I’m shocked they didn’t want to help me but the next thing I know my friend who’s name and number I had just told Teds law firm about they call and tell my friend there’s no help for me but they can help them so could they represent them against me when I had just called wanting them to help us. I’m so disappointed in there what I find unethical choice. I’m now left to find a lawyer to help me and my friends not speaking to me. This is all just devastating. I will find the right law firm to help me. A organization that cares about everyone. Teds Law Firm isn’t that Firm. 1star only because they want let me do 0star. I wanted to let you know I won in court with the lawyer I hired since TED Law wouldn’t take my case. Don’t use these ambulance chasers. Find someone who actually cares about the truth

Ted Law made this an stress-free process from beginning to end. Attorney Susco was amazing to work with. I hope I never need them again but they will be the first ones I call if I’m ever in another accident.

I live in Texas and had a very complicated situation occur in South Carolina. I found Mr. Bush via an attorney recommendation site with a free hour consultation. I was impressed when someone called me promptly and set up the appointment. The hour was extremely informative for me, and I sent a retainer. This issue spanned over a year to get resolved. I am thoroughly pleased with the outcome. Mr. Bush demonstrated extensive legal knowledge in the areas of probate, real estate, and foreclosure. I felt the billings were extremely reasonable for the work performed. I would hire Mr. Bush again, and highly recommend him, particularly if having to deal with an attorney from out of state.

I have sought out Chris McCool’s advice on many occasions for the last 15 years that I have known him. Over these years, he has truly been an unbiased counselor each time I have consulted with him on various complex cases. His judgment, critical thinking and ability to communicate are second to none! I have consulted with Chris on matters that have included my family and for myself. Each and every time, he was focused on an outcome that was best for me. These cases included personal matters and matters in my work place. I found him very knowledgeable on a wide range of how the law could apply to my situations. And if he was not sure, he took the time to research options and then discuss with me a possible strategy or outcome. The best part of his advice was that he gave me both sides of possibilities and then had an open discussion to help me come to a conclusion…just what I needed. I was a senior officer in the Air Force and now an executive in a large company during the last 15 years, with heavy demands on my time. His interactions with me were succinct and understandable for these very important personal matters. Most of all they were open and informative and I knew he was on my side giving me advice and taking action on my behalf. Go with him…you will not go wrong…he is pure gold!!

This man will take your money and do nothing. He will show up but doesn’t do anything to represent you. When you question him he told us his doctor told him not to be stressed. This man has gotten a public reprimand from the SC bar for actions against him for several of his clients.

I paid David a 5000.00 retainer and after accomplishing absolutely nothing I got 1000 dollars back. Constantly unable to get in touch with him. Claims to be in the hospital a lot. Everything seem to be a grey area with him. Very disappointed pretty much wasted 4000 dollars. I will be filing a complaint with the SC bar.

Mr. Harley rescued me from an awful teaching situation. I faced unfounded discipline and possible termination. I wanted out of my job, but couldn't quit or I'd lose my teaching certificate. I put my problem in Mr. Harley's hands. He worked wonders. I left my school and saved my certificate. Now I still teach, but a different district. I highly recommend him.

Mr. Parker failed to represent me. He only talked to me 14 times in 2 years. He didn't care to find out who I was or even call to ask how I was doing. He just wanted to settle from day one. I asked him to fight to get my knee taken care of and he just said he didn't think they would cover it. It was reported the day it happened but because a Dr. Didnt do an mri it just showed not broken. A couple months later went to another Dr. Because of severe pain . MRI showed torn meniscus and bone splinter. He told me not to worry about paying the bills, he said my insurance should cover them not workers comp but I told my insurance it was due to injury at work. Now I owe them close to 10,000.00. I have refinanced my home in order to survive. I haven't been able to do much work because of extensive injury to elbow, wrist, and knee. I lost the case because he really didn't try to work the case and keep informed. Be careful and check the attorney out. Just because I had a good attorney 14 years ago with a similar case doesnt mean you will get a good one again. My fault trusting him.

What a Business Lawyer Can Do for You

A business lawyer provides critical legal guidance and support to entrepreneurs, startups, and established businesses. Whether you are forming a new company, drafting contracts, or navigating complex regulations, a business attorney ensures you are legally protected and operating within the law. They can also help prevent legal disputes or represent you in negotiations, transactions, or lawsuits that arise during the course of business operations.

Business lawyers have expertise in areas such as business formation, contract law, intellectual property, employment law, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. They ensure that your business is compliant with relevant laws and help mitigate risks that could threaten your company's success.

When Should I Hire a Business Lawyer?

Hiring a business lawyer is essential at various stages of business development, including:

  • Forming a business: When deciding on the best structure for your company (LLC, corporation, partnership, etc.), a lawyer can guide you through the registration and compliance process.
  • Drafting contracts: If you need contracts for employees, partners, suppliers, or clients, a lawyer ensures these documents are legally sound and in your best interest.
  • Mergers, acquisitions, or dissolutions: If you are buying, selling, or dissolving a company, legal counsel is critical to avoid costly mistakes.
  • Compliance and regulatory issues: A lawyer can help navigate complex regulations, particularly in industries like healthcare, finance, or tech.
  • Resolving disputes: Whether it's contract disagreements, intellectual property infringement, or employment issues, a business lawyer helps mediate, negotiate, or litigate on your behalf.

What Does a Business Lawyer Do?

Business lawyers provide a wide range of services that cater to different legal needs of a business. They can:

  • Help you choose the best legal structure for your business.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with employees, suppliers, customers, or business partners.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Advise on tax strategies to minimize your business's tax burden.
  • Assist with intellectual property protection, such as trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
  • Handle mergers, acquisitions, and business sales, ensuring all legal paperwork is in order.
  • Resolve disputes through negotiation, arbitration, or litigation.

How Are Business Lawyers Paid?

Business lawyers typically charge either by the hour or on a flat-fee basis, depending on the complexity of the work. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rates: The lawyer charges based on the time spent working on your case. Rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fees: For certain tasks, such as incorporating a business or drafting a standard contract, a lawyer may offer a flat fee.
  • Retainer: Some businesses may hire a lawyer on retainer, paying a fixed amount each month to have ongoing access to legal services.

The payment structure is often discussed during an initial consultation so you can choose the one that best suits your business needs and budget.

How Much Does a Business Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a business lawyer depends on factors such as:

  • The complexity of the legal issue: More complex matters, like mergers or intellectual property disputes, typically cost more than routine tasks like contract drafting.
  • The lawyer's experience and location: More experienced lawyers or those in larger cities often charge higher fees.
  • The nature of the billing arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $150 to $1,000 or more, depending on the lawyer's expertise. Flat fees are usually available for simpler matters like forming an LLC or drafting a standard contract.

It's essential to discuss fee structures upfront to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Business Lawyer

Before hiring a business lawyer, ask the following questions during your consultation:

  1. What is your experience with businesses like mine?
Find out if the lawyer has handled legal issues for companies in your industry.
  2. What services do you offer?
Ensure the lawyer can meet all your business's legal needs, from contract drafting to dispute resolution.
  3. What are your fees, and how do you bill?
Get clarity on how you'll be charged - whether by the hour, flat fee, or retainer.
  4. How do you handle conflicts of interest?
Ask how the lawyer ensures there is no conflict in representing your business.
  5. Can you provide references from other business clients?
Speaking with past clients will give you an idea of the lawyer's expertise and professionalism.
  6. Do you have experience in my specific industry?
Industry-specific knowledge can be crucial, especially in highly regulated fields like healthcare or finance.

How to Check the Credibility of a Business Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable business lawyer:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is in good standing and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for client reviews or testimonials: Online reviews, testimonials, or word of mouth from other business owners can provide insight into the lawyer's reliability and effectiveness.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should have satisfied clients who can vouch for their services.
  • Check professional memberships: Membership in respected legal organizations (such as the American Bar Association or a local business lawyer association) can signal credibility.
  • Review their website and professional profile: A well-established lawyer typically has a professional website showcasing their areas of expertise, credentials, and case success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a business lawyer, prepare the following:

  • A description of your business and its structure: This will help the lawyer understand your legal needs.
  • Any current contracts or agreements: If you're seeking contract advice, bring copies of existing contracts.
  • A list of legal issues or concerns: Be ready to discuss any potential legal challenges, such as regulatory compliance, disputes, or transactions.
  • Financial documents: If applicable, bring financial records related to the legal matter you're seeking help with.
  • Questions about fees and billing: Ensure you understand the lawyer’s payment structure and fees upfront.

By preparing these materials, you can ensure that your first meeting with a business lawyer is productive and informative.
