We reached out to Josh looking for a local lawyer who understood real estate law in Alameda and Contra Costa County. Furthermore, his understanding of both tent and landlord rights was instrumental in our decisions on how to proceed as we were concerned with our liability as we had documented everything to the best of our abilities and never thought we would be in this predicament fighting to keep what was ours. With Josh services and persistence we were able to avoid a lengthy and draining legal battle due to Josh through review of our case and his outline of approaches available to us (each with pros and cons detailed), reminding us that all of these options will result in justice and fairness but all with various timelines and costs. I had a deeply frustrating experience with Ross family law that I feel compelled to share. My interaction with this firm, particularly with their receptionist, was marked by unprofessionalism and a lack of genuine support. I was seeking legal assistance with a challenging child custody and child support dispute, but my experience with this firm was far from satisfactory.
From the outset, the receptionist’s attitude was dismissive and unhelpful. When I called to inquire about potential legal representation, I was met with a curt and indifferent response. Rather than offering any assistance or guidance, the receptionist informed me that all the attorneys at the firm were fully booked and either could not or would not take on new cases. This response was not only frustrating but seemed to be a blanket refusal rather than a genuine assessment of the firm’s capacity.
What was most concerning about this interaction was the lack of willingness to explore any potential for assisting with my case or even directing me to someone who might help. Instead of providing a referral or suggesting alternative steps, the receptionist’s demeanor suggested a complete disinterest in addressing my needs. This kind of response is deeply unprofessional and reflects poorly on the firm’s commitment to client service.
Moreover, the refusal to consider my case based on an apparent overbooking issue, without any attempt to understand the specifics of my situation, felt dismissive. It is troubling to think that a law firm would turn away clients so readily, especially in sensitive family law matters where legal representation can be crucial.
In addition, the lack of follow-up or alternative solutions provided by the receptionist was particularly disappointing. A professional law firm should have protocols for dealing with such inquiries, including offering referrals to other attorneys or providing preliminary advice on how to proceed in the absence of their services.
In summary, my experience with Ross family law was marred by an unprofessional and unhelpful attitude from their receptionist, coupled with a blanket refusal to assist with my case. This lack of willingness to engage with potential clients, combined with poor customer service, makes me highly skeptical of their commitment to client care. I would strongly recommend seeking legal representation elsewhere, as this firm’s apparent indifference suggests they may not provide the support needed for complex family law matters.

I found him through my employer’s legal plan (Met Life) and he was outstanding and very thorough. He was also very clear and precise about my financial responsibility for his services not covered by my legal plan. I didn’t realize that along with estate planning you would also do a power of attorney and advanced health care directive, which I’ve been planning to do for the longest time but haven’t gotten around to it. Now that this process is complete (which was a total of about 3-4 weeks turnaround time- super fast!), I feel at peace knowing that my family will be taken care of and that my wishes are clearly outlined in these documents. Tom Kurta is an amazing lawyer, he is smart and efficient. I highly recommend John Park Law firm. My wife passed away from a rare cancer attributed to the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center in NYC. At the time of her passing we lived in California. Even though I now live in New York, any settlement from the 9/11 Victims Fund had to be distributed through an estate set up in California. John Park Law Firm did a great job handling the process of setting up the estate.They always quickly responded to any questions I had, always keep me informed of where any proceedings were at and what needed to be done next. After our brief consult it was clear he was the most knowledgeable and proficient in multiple overlapping sectors, you can’t discover all trust issues without being incredibly bussiness and tax saavy. I had spent a week calling law firms all over the east bay, needing assistance with a trust. I hit one roadblock after another. Either the firms didn't return calls, wouldn't even give me a consult for 6 weeks, or reviewed the paperwork and just didn't want to be bothered. And then some were just flat out not nice. I was trying to sell property and I was working under some time constraints. I had zero expectations when I called Hall Law Group. They were probably my 20th phone call. Imagine my surprise when they put me right through to Angie their paralegal. I explained what I was trying to do. Right out of the gate, she said absolutely they could help. I sent over some paperwork that she requested. Before the day was over, she had advised me of the path forward, what they would be doing on their end, and scheduled a phone consultation with Attorney Mike Hall. I couldn't believe how quickly she had the process moving forward.
Mike, as well as everyone on his team, have been just a breeze to work with. They are all genuinely nice people who are all great at what they do. They had our trust issue handled and it was so painless and hassle free.

I retained Caroline Ham to work on my support issue in 2022. Dealing with Ms. Ham was most ungratifying. She quoted me an approximate amount it would take to take the case, but ultimately exceeded this amount significantly.
Ms. Ham’s self-centered approach to time management was extremely unprofessional. When we set a meeting, Ms. Ham would invariably have 2 responses. First, she would call hours before the meeting and ask if to have the meeting early, at her convenience, not mine. It became apparent that even though I am the client my time could NOT possibly be as important as HER time. Her second response was to be late or not show up for a zoom call at all.
Prior to my retaining Ms. Ham she failed to inform me that the age difference between me and my ex-spouse would create an advantage in the courts for my ex-spouse. I am convinced this is no oversight as it allowed her to bill me. When I finally discovered this information, I took an interim settlement from my ex-spouse and had to wait to file an effective lawsuit when we were on equal legal grounds. My support issue was only resolved in 2024 - WITH ANOTHER LAWYER.
Glad I went elsewhere.
