I really appreciate Jerome and the work he did for me along with Courtney. He was always very responsive and informative to the situation that was at hand, and if there was ever a time he was not able to get back to me, Courtney was right there. I would highly recommend Jerome and his counseling as he is both very positive and respectful throughout any conversation that we had. I appreciate your services of the past months and will definitely recommend using them to other people if the situation would ever occur. Take care.

I hired Aimee to help me with my uncontested divorce. I had originally hired another attorney who was not being responsive. I explained to Aimee my desire to quickly resolve the divorce so that I could move forward with my life. It is the middle of COVID and my previous attorney was using this as an excuse to delay action. Aimee made phone calls right away and within 4 days was able to have me a court date. I am now divorced within a week of working with Aimee. I would highly recommend Aimee as a very responsive and professional attorney.

I’m glad I found Danielle to represent me during the worst time of my life fighting for custody. Danielle was amazing at understanding my situation, explaining it and fighting for my rights and all with my heart and pain in mind. She was always conscientious enough to think about the best outcome, considering the expense for each angle and the implications down the line. Danielle thoroughly explained each step and the pros and cons for all decisions. I really appreciate her experience, knowledge and her good heart in representing me. She was always timely with everything and fully informed of the details in my case. She is always wonderful and sweet but a knowledgeable fighter in court who always went in well prepared and ready for anything. What I loved most about working with Danielle is that she never sold me a dream and never gave me false hopes. She always came forward with honesty and the truth about all possibilities. Danielle is a great negotiator as well. Danielle was amazing and I will continue to recommend her to everyone I know.

Danielle was very thorough, always prepared and represented me in an excellent manner. The other attorney tried to use innuendo, half truths and misleading statements to bolster her client's case but Danielle was up to the task. She was not intimidated and ultimately negotiated a settlement before trial.

GENE KIERNAN 9137 Cordoba Lane Crestwood, MO 63126 March 27, 2018 Mr. Brian Harrington Harrington Law Group 5536 Central Avenue St. Petersburg, FL 33707 Dear Brian: Over the past months, I have pondered why I asked you to represent me in the car/bike accident of December 30, 2015. And, as to why I might want to recommend you and your firm to others in the same need. The reasons are many; but, the more significant ones include: Your absolute and complete knowledge of the Florida law as it pertains to car/bike accidents. I suppose having been involved in the writing of that law helps. Your amazing and detailed medical knowledge that allows you to understand and interpret medical communications with doctors, attorneys and insurance companies and your clients. Your uncanny appreciation of the special needs of cyclists and athletes. Your being a cyclist yourself certainly helps in that endeavor. Your attentiveness to schedules and special needs of clients as they may arise is much appreciated. I am pleased with the results of the case you handled for me; and, if you promise to not let this “go to your head”, you are also just a very nice, kind and considerate person. Our world needs many more of these! Thanks for the great job by you and Xenia. And, may you always ride with a nice strong tailwind. Cheers, Gene

Rohom possesses knowledge, a high EQ, and a drive towards outcomes... combine that with ethics and integrity and you have the perfect attorney - and dare I say a priceless one. We were able to come to resolutions probably faster than some others in my situation, because of Rohom's ability to work well and sensibly with all parties (it certainly helped that all parties were genuinely interested in reaching a resolution). He and April are responsive and their availability matches the urgency. That my situation wasn't urgent at all and we still managed to get things resolved in a short period of time is a blessing. Rohom is a treasure - and for that I would be judicious in my recommendations as he deserves to work with mature, fair, and reasonable clients.

I’ll be honest, I’m not one to leave a review on anything but I had to on this one. I give respect for when it’s due. So here we go. Rohom did a great Job with my DUI case. He responds in a timely fashioned manner when questions are needed to be answered. His cost as an attorney is Fair and affordable(he is not like others that sees you as a money sign). He is for the People! Appreciate him and his team. I would definitely Recommend him to anyone that is in trouble with DUI cases. Thanks again Rohom !

Brandon and his team are literally THE BEST. I worked with two cheap attorneys before I found Brandon and I got exactly what I paid for which was representation that didn’t care, didn’t put the time in and didn’t fight for me. Brandon‘s previous experience as a police officer and private detective were very helpful in uncovering all of the hidden assets in my case. Brandon always worked to try to get my ex and I to settle outside of court rather than rack up more fees and unnecessary cost. That really stood out to me. Every hearing that I had with Brandon on my side, I felt safe, I felt like he was fighting for me, and I felt like he actually cared. His team was absolutely a pleasure to work with even through the gruesome things such as gathering financial affidavit, and a ridiculous amount of documents requested by opposing counsel. I could not have been happier with the service I was given in my extremely difficult case. I worked with Brandon for almost an entire year and he never got lazy. He never slacked off. He always gave 100%. Thanks Brandon and team!!!

Smith wrote one incorrect demand letter and filed one incorrect complaint. He filed my work product and failed to produce my documents. My documents were extensive and would have forced a settlement discussion. He billed me approximately $12,000 - his paralgal time was $2000. He harrassed me for 9 months involving my new lawyer William Walker. So no work was done while Smith chased me for approximately 5,000. I fired Smith and then Walker. They colluded to get me to pay Smith. They may threaten to sue me for defamation. Their problem is they have NO CASE. I can documenet every word of this review with text and Emails and correspondence. Smith chased me without any legal authority to do so (His fee agreement was contradictory, confusing to all that viewed it including his mediator friend. He is a liar and a bad lawyer. I am 72 and starting with Smith I lost every dime. I paid horrible lawyers over $150,000. Each was unable to negotiate a settlement. Each billed time that they could never justify. I was a paralegal and legal manager, I settled thousands of lawsuits in mass tort, had authority and settled cases for major clients and yet these lawyers cost me my financial life; And a home I intended to leave to my family. Please pay attention. Incompetance is bad, but lies and harrasment seems common in Pinellas County. I will review 5 lawyers - Smith, WIlliam Walker, Carolyn Margolies and Jesse Skipper. Please see my reviews. Its important.

I have a hearing in 1 week . They originally scheduled a consultation for me last week with Erin, but cancelled it due to the power outage . Today when I called at scheduled time they told me that I don’t have an appointment, then later they said that it’s with a different attorney ( which I wasn’t aware of ) . I said that no one told me that that it was scheduled with a different lawyer, but I still agreed to speak with them. Assistant placed me on hold and then she told me that I need to call my legal insurance to let them know that it won’t be a good fit . When I asked why - the receptionist told me it’s because of my tone of the voice and dissatisfaction during our conversation .

First i want to share my thanks to Mr Reissman and Lynn for all the work they had done for me during this hard time! They never made me feel guilty about anything but assured me that these things happen unfortunately. I know that this process can be stressful, but the Reissman law group did everything they could to keep this a pain-free and stress-free process. With the consistent check ins for anything needed of me or the email keeping me up to date with my case, communication was excellent. After the case has been filed, closed and then discharged i couldn't help but voice my gratitude to Lynn and Mr Reissman! Thabk you again for everything you had done for me!

I contacted Mr. Reissman regarding my Chapter 7 bankruptcy and expressed various concerns about my case. Marshall promptly addressed these issues, providing solace in a naturally stressful situation. The communication with his office has been exceptional, arguably the finest I've experienced with any law firm. Although I realize I'm not their sole client and callbacks may require time, the staff and Mr. Reissman appear to be remarkably proactive in their communications with clients. During my case, I was consistently informed about the proceedings and the necessary information I had to submit. Thanks to Marshall and his excellent team, I was able to navigate through my bankruptcy and move forward, which has brought significant relief. Should you consider filing for bankruptcy, Mr. Reissman is certainly the attorney to reach out to. In my view, he is unequivocally the best of the best.

What a Child Custody Lawyer Can Do for You

A child custody lawyer specializes in helping parents navigate legal matters related to the custody and care of their children, particularly in the context of divorce, separation, or other family disputes. These lawyers assist with determining custody arrangements, drafting parenting plans, and advocating for your rights in court. They also help resolve disputes over physical custody (where the child lives), legal custody (who makes decisions for the child), visitation rights, and modifications to existing custody orders.

Whether you're going through a divorce or need to change an existing custody arrangement, a child custody lawyer can help you understand your rights and protect your child's best interests throughout the legal process.

When Should I Hire a Child Custody Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a child custody lawyer in several situations, especially when disputes arise or complex legal issues affect your parental rights. Some common reasons to hire a child custody lawyer include:

  • Divorce or separation: If you're going through a divorce or separation and need to establish custody and visitation arrangements, a lawyer can help ensure the custody order reflects your child's best interests.
  • Disputed custody cases: If you and the other parent cannot agree on custody or visitation terms, a lawyer can advocate for your rights in court and help you develop a strong case.
  • Modification of custody orders: If you need to change an existing custody arrangement due to changes in circumstances (e.g., relocation, changes in the child’s needs), a lawyer can help file a modification request.
  • Parental alienation: If the other parent is interfering with your relationship with your child, a lawyer can help address these issues through legal action.
  • Domestic violence or abuse: If there is a history of domestic violence or abuse, a lawyer can help protect you and your child by requesting restraining orders and advocating for appropriate custody arrangements.
  • Grandparent or third-party custody: If you are a grandparent or another relative seeking custody or visitation rights, a lawyer can guide you through the legal process.
  • Paternity disputes: In cases where paternity is in question, a lawyer can assist with establishing or challenging paternity, which may affect custody and visitation rights.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can help protect your parental rights and ensure that the custody arrangement is in your child's best interests.

What Does a Child Custody Lawyer Do?

A child custody lawyer provides a variety of legal services to help parents resolve custody disputes and secure favorable custody arrangements for their children. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Filing custody petitions: Helping you file the necessary paperwork to request custody or visitation rights and ensuring all legal procedures are followed.
  • Negotiating custody agreements: Assisting in negotiating custody and visitation arrangements, often working toward a mutually beneficial parenting plan without going to court.
  • Representing you in court: If you and the other parent cannot agree on custody terms, representing you in court by presenting evidence and making legal arguments to support your case.
  • Drafting parenting plans: Helping you draft a comprehensive parenting plan that outlines the schedule for physical custody, decision-making responsibilities, and visitation.
  • Handling child support issues: Assisting with related issues such as child support, ensuring that financial obligations are properly calculated and enforced.
  • Modifying custody orders: Helping you request a modification from the court if you need to change an existing custody arrangement due to significant life changes.
  • Mediating custody disputes: Acting as a mediator to help both parents reach an agreement on custody and visitation without the need for litigation.

How Are Child Custody Lawyers Paid?

Child custody lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case, the time involved, and the nature of the legal work. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Most child custody lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer's experience and location. The total cost depends on the time spent preparing documents, negotiating, and representing you in court.
  • Flat fee: For simple custody matters or uncontested custody agreements, some lawyers may offer a flat fee for specific services, such as drafting a parenting plan or filing a custody petition.
  • Retainer: Many lawyers require an upfront retainer fee, which is billed against as the lawyer works on your case. The amount varies based on the expected complexity and duration of the case.
  • Sliding scale or pro bono services: Some lawyers may offer reduced fees or pro bono (free) services for clients with limited financial means, particularly in cases involving domestic violence or other serious issues.

It’s important to discuss fees and payment arrangements with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how much you will be charged and what services are included.

How Much Does a Child Custody Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a child custody lawyer depends on various factors, including the complexity of the case, whether it’s contested or uncontested, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost estimates include:

  • Uncontested custody cases: Legal fees may range from $1,500 to $5,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the paperwork and any negotiations.
  • Contested custody cases: Legal fees can range from $5,000 to $40,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the issues, the need for expert testimony, and the time spent in litigation.
  • Hourly rates: Lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour, with higher rates for more experienced attorneys or complex custody disputes.
  • Mediation services: If both parents agree to work through mediation, costs typically range from $1,000 to $5,000 or more for the mediation process.

Always ask for a clear cost estimate during your consultation to ensure that you understand the total legal fees and payment structure.

Top Questions to Ask a Child Custody Lawyer

Before hiring a child custody lawyer, it’s essential to ask the right questions to ensure they are the best fit for your case. Some key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with child custody cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, especially if your case involves complex issues like domestic violence, relocation, or paternity disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, offers flat fees for certain services, or requires a retainer, and ask for an estimate of the total cost.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case, including potential challenges and expected outcomes.
  4. How long will the process take?
Inquire about the expected timeline from filing the petition to reaching an agreement or going to trial.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
Ensure you know who will be managing your case and representing you in court.
  6. Can we pursue mediation or alternative dispute resolution?
Ask whether the lawyer recommends mediation or other forms of dispute resolution to avoid a lengthy court battle.

How to Check the Credibility of a Child Custody Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable child custody lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and experience:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for family law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in family law and child custody cases.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge the lawyer’s professionalism and success in child custody matters.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on custody cases.
  • Check for certifications: Look for lawyers who are board-certified in family law or have memberships in organizations like the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) or local family law sections.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a child custody lawyer, come prepared with relevant documents and information:

  • Court orders or existing custody agreements: Bring copies of any existing custody or visitation orders for the lawyer to review.
  • Communication with the other parent: Provide copies of emails, texts, or letters regarding custody, visitation, or disputes.
  • List of your child’s needs: Prepare a list of your child’s specific needs, such as medical care, education, and extracurricular activities.
  • Timeline of the case: Outline key events related to your custody case, including changes in living situations or parental involvement.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Write down any questions about the custody process, legal fees, and the lawyer’s strategy for your case.

By being well-prepared, you can help the lawyer assess your situation effectively and receive the best possible advice for protecting your rights and your child’s well-being.
