Dealing with legal stuff can really tie you up in knots, but Simon Law made the process bearable. Had to sort out some paperwork that felt like it was written in ancient Greek to me. Their team was patient, broke everything down so even I could get it, and they were on the ball with all the deadlines. Felt like they actually had my back the whole time. Honestly, didn't expect to feel this relieved after it was all said and done. If legal jargon's not your thing and you need someone reliable, give them a shout.

Not happy with this law firm at all was in a serious motorcycle accident that wasn't my fault and this attorney is getting more money than I am. If I could do it over again I wouldn't use this guy did absolutley nothing for me nothing but taking money stay away.I don't have any idea who all these other people are being represented by but I didn't get anything like there help .Im disabled for life and he didn't help me at all .

My experience having Erika Portillo and her team as my immigration attorney for the past 10 years has been phenomenal! From the very start of my case she has ALWAYS been upfront and honest with me about my case which made the whole process much less stressful for me. Erika will ALWAYS go above and beyond her expertise to help her clients as best as she can!
I was able to petition my mother and she also just became a US Citizen two weeks ago! The only reason why I took the 10 years to apply for our citizenship was because I personally decided to wait until my Green card almost expired to apply for our Citizenship. I know I should have applied sooner but with three young children, my studies, and work, I got so busy in my “mom life” that I didn’t realize how fast time had gone by. The good thing is that as soon as Erika filed both my mother’s and my N-400 application in December, by February we had already received our appointment letter in the mail for our citizenship exam! After passing the exam, we received our Oath ceremony appointment for citizenship in the SF location just three months after! We are so happy and relieved that we no longer have to worry about our immigration status and most importantly that the process was smooth because we didn’t have to stress about receiving bad service or looking around for new attorneys because Erika took good care of us every step of the way. 🙏🏼
I mean this from the bottom of my heart because I’ve heard so many unfortunate situations of how difficult it is for our people to find a good lawyer who doesn’t charge them every time they show up to their office, or charge them tons of dollars upfront to take the case and then they take forever to respond or get a hold of. This is not the case with Erika Portillo!
With that said, I will say that it’s 100% worth your time and money to schedule a consultation with Erika to see if you have a good case. She will not lie to you nor waste your time and money like some attorney tend to. I actually just referred her services to a friend of mine who was asking for an immigration attorney for her brother in law. So I’m confident that if her family takes my referral, they will be in good hands.
*FYI: Both Erika and her front desk receptionists are all Spanish and English speaking so communicating with them and getting answers about your case is very easy as well. They were always ready to assist us with a nice smile on their faces.
What I love the most about having Erika as an immigration attorney is that she continues to educate herself. She stays on top of all the new laws and that’s what allows her to provide such clear and accurate services. I couldn’t imagine her being able to branch off and now having her own team if she wasn’t this great! That speaks volumes! I had a case where I was electrocuted and for 10months VZ worked on my case of course looking to take care of me appropriately based on the nature of the case. Once they found out I was on probation for a crime I had not committed but got railroaded, they first said we can’t represent you because of the nature of your case. I was like, WHAT? We have a working case and now 10months later the partners decide they don’t want to represent me anymore because of my probation???? What the heck does that even have to do with me getting what’s owed to me because I was electrocuted? They gave me some pocket change and took there money like I was an old appliance. Now I could have said no I’ll try and find another law firm but law firms don’t like to take cases that other law firms backed up on. I don’t recommend this law firm to anyone. Especially if you have a record.

I would agree with most positive reviews about Ethan and more. I have known his father Merritt professionally for a long time and I met Ethan years ago at their office. Ethan was a young sharp attorney then and he is a brilliant attorney now. My divorce was complex and difficult as it emanated from a foreign marriage. Ethan was not only prepared to deal with issues dealing with an ill conceived attempt at a reconciliation of marriage but also with issues stemming from a foreign marriage contract. He not only navigated through the reconciliation issues but also complex property issues, alimony, child support, custody and visitation aspects of the case. I couldn't have hired a more knowledgeable, aggressive and well prepared attorney. I could write a brief on Ethan. He is not only readily accessible but friendly and down to earth. There's no hint of arrogance or standoffish that you might find with other attorneys. I would say Ethan takes each case very personal and high professional. I never thought I would ever find a lawyer who could assist collect a divorce settlement awarded to me six years ago. It was easy to speak with him over the phone, as it was in person, in his office. My first impression was, he is bright, experienced and skilled in family law, sincere, and will definitely protect my interest as his client. During my visit in his office, I did not have a second thought at all to hire him and represent me. And during the process, he was always available to receive or return my calls to answer further questions, inquiries, or clarifications. He was way on time during the court set date. At the court, he was very focused, steady, so professional during the back and forth negotiation with the other party. And he has explained to me his back-up strategies if things do not turn out exactly as he intended. Guess what, Ethan had successfully make the other party reveal his assets, present recommendation to the presiding Judge, and best of all, immediate payments of QDRO judgement. Again, I thank the Lord for my neighbor friend who highly recommended Ethan to me, and who also Ethan had helped successfully with her divorce settlement. I spoke to attorney Tyler Smith around October 17, 2023 and Tyler agreed to represent me in an ongoing lawsuit. I was prepared to execute a retainer agreement and pay a $10,000 initial retainer fee. I told Tyler I would call him the following week to set up an appointment to complete the paperwork. The following week I called and emailed Tyler, but he did not get back to me. Literally at the last possible moment he breached his oral agreement and refused to represent me. I'm going to file a State Bar complaint. This is outrageous!¹

I cannot recommend Heisler Rosenfeld LLP enough. Mary Kathleen Caswell, has altered information and facts when handling my child custody case to favor her client (My Husband). Her greed has lead her astray from the main purpose of The Family Court system being involved with families, which is to help families struggling to collaborate together (in my case my abusive/cheating husband didn’t think it was sufficient that he was physically/emotionally/verbally abusive and abandoned the Marital home) He still wanted to continue his power and control over me and This scrupulous attorney started Her strategies/tactics that resemble those of terrorist and are by NO MEANS in any child’s BEST INTEREST, It is unfortunate that the Family Law System is being exploited by greedy, malicious, narcissistic Attorney’s such as Mary Kathleen Caldwell. It is such a distressing time when a Marriage is coming to an end and on top of that you have to fight your (cheating/abusive/criminal) spouse in this Family Court System with people like Mary Kathleen Caswell continuing to encourage my Husbands Abuse, Power and Control with NO regard for the child’s true best interest. If you are interested in continuing to inflict trauma on the person whom you married and made kid/s with for nothing more than power and control, and will do it by any means necessary (she will alter electronic communications, change the facts to coincide with her depraved lies) She’s the attorney for you if you have No regard for your child’s best interest and the Trauma that this situation continues to expose the children to.

I hired Kathleen to represent me in what should have been a "simple" uncontested divorce. Her YELP reviews were amazing. While she was nice, she lacked the knowledge/experience to work with more skilled counsel and I ultimately had to let her go and hire someone who had more skill. If what you want is basic advice, I'm sure she could help, but the minute another attorney is involved, her lack of experience shows. I would love to have coffee with her or hang out, but I would not want her to be the one giving me or anyone else I care about, advice about how to end their marriage and care for their children.
