I went through an extremely contentious divorce with Rene by my side and thank goodness. I could trust him always to be honest, ethical and to go after our priorities. He is a kind and empathetic human being and also never wavers in his professionalism. My case involved domestic violence which meant added complications and also meant I was even more all over the place emotionally. Rene was always, always a calm, steadying force bringing me back to center, back to integrity and refocusing me on our priorities. Which made it possible for me to advocate as well as I could for myself and my son - if I had not been able to do that it would have been a big regret for me. I imagine that is an accomplishment in most divorces. But when your ex drags you back into court over and over for years it is a major feat - he has the patience of Job. I should also mention we won almost every point, and ultimately accomplished all of our priorities. Not through snarky fighting or misleading arguments or playing on technicalities (which are a horror to experience in court). In court or mediation, Rene is not theatrical or super aggressive, he is confident, reasonable and matter of fact - from what I have witnessed this is very much appreciated by the legal professionals involved. I probably did not have the presence of mind to acknowledge it at the time - but now I feel as good about how we won as I do about winning.
The other thing people always want to know about is cost. It was not cheap, of course, it took a long time and my ex is really good at creating situations I need Rene to handle for me. But Rene has always been more than fair in his charges, accounting for every penny, and never ‘rounding up’ when he could have easily justified it. He is just as ethical in his billing as he is in his practice of law.
Clearly, I recommend him highly. I am trying to remember what I wanted to know before I started this journey. I went to Rene because my cousin (also an attorney) had seen him practice years before and was so impressed she never forgot his name. When I sat down with him he did not say everything was going to go exactly as I wanted nor did he seem resigned to it happening. I don’t like it when people ‘sell’ me by painting a best case scenario only - and there was none of that. He listened very closely and cut straight to the issues that mattered to me and presented options - which is pretty much the definition of a competent attorney. And I remember looking around his office and seeing multiple awards for ethical practice; which in conjunction with my cousin’s recommendation tells me he is well respected in the legal community. Nothing I have experienced in the intervening years has altered that first impression; it has only grown better.

Molly represented me in a relocation case about 8 years ago. It is not easy to win a relocation case as the non-custodial parent, but thanks to Molly's incredible talent and skill, she won my case and my son and I get to continue to spend meaningful amounts of time together on a regular basis. As she built my case leading up to trial, Molly would identify issues that had real bearing on the best interests of my son and would then build a case by coaching me through the process of developing the facts related to these issues. I use the term "coaching" very intentionally, as Molly really helped to ground me on what were reasonable requests and expectations as a co-parent with my son and encouraged me to engage with my son's mother on the relevant issues despite the inevitable conflict that would ensue. Then, when the trial started, Molly's experience as a litigation attorney on complex corporate cases really showed through. Molly was absolutely brilliant as she clearly articulated our case on each relevant issue. If you are dealing with a fairly straightforward family law issue, you would benefit from working with Molly. If you are dealing with a difficult or complex family law issue (e.g. high conflict co-parent or an issue that could go to trial), it is hard for me to imagine that you could find better representation than Molly.

I interviewed a few attorneys before I came to Margaret. She was beyond professional when did not judge me in any way. I went through a very difficult time and she was there in every way I needed her to be. He'd cancelled any means he thought I'd have to stand up for my own rights. MARGARET BENDER and her very dedicated staff, DIANA and VANESSA, have all helped me survive down this very sad path we call Divorce! They allowed me to come in immediately. I am writing to express my sincere disappointment and concern regarding the legal services I received from Daniel.
I engaged his services with the expectation of receiving professional and competent representation in my case. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory for the following reasons:
Lack of Communication: Throughout the course of our engagement, there was a noticeable lack of effective and timely communication. Vital information was often overlooked or not relayed promptly, leading to unnecessary misunderstandings and confusion.
Inadequate Preparation: It was evident that there was a lack of thoroughness and diligence in the preparation of my case. Critical details were overlooked, resulting in a subpar presentation of my case.
Missed Deadlines: There were multiple instances where critical deadlines were not met, causing delays and jeopardizing the effectiveness of your profecionalism. As a resalt my hearing was faild because of that.
Failure to Fulfill Promises: Promises and assurances made regarding the handling and outcome of my case were not fulfilled.
Lack of Advocacy: I felt that there was a lack of assertiveness and advocacy on my behalf.
It is with regret that I feel compelled to share this feedback. As a client, I believe it is crucial to highlight areas where improvement is needed. I sincerely hope that this feedback will help other people from the mistakes that I made by asking you about legal help.

Kristen was very helpful with my weapons surrender hearings and my husbands reconsideration hearing of my DVPO. She is caring and professional. She explains things in layman's terms, gets down to business and is efficient and knows the law, she gave me excellent case law and coached me through my arguments for the hearings. I divorced 8 years ago, but have been fighting in court for custody of my youngest daughter for the past 3 years. Hire Natalie and her team! She is absolutely wonderful and you will not regret it for a second. She is thoughtful and communicative. Natalie took over my case from another attorney. My former attorney did not do a very good job communicating with me or giving my case the needed attention it deserved. Natalie was the polar opposite. She made sure I stayed update and did an excellent job getting my case caught up to speed.
For example, when I first came to Natalie, I had not been paid my monthly support payment in months. I was struggling to make ends meet. Natalie immediately filed a motion and dragged my ex into court. She got prompt payment from him and I was finally back on a path toward stability. Natalie was a real shark and made sure I was protected from the moment I hired her.
My case went to trial, and it was the same story from the moment I hired her. We triumphed at trial and got a great ruling from the judge.

Justin failed to act in a timely manner at every part of my divorce proceeding. His communication was poor and made me feel as though my situation did not matter to him. It really did not. I wound up not getting most of my property back and was abused by the other party.
Justin was happy to participate and keep charging me to make the situation harder. I fully believe that Justin made a deal with the other attorney to just sit on the case. He said some crazy stuff to me looking back and my new attorney tho is that he has intentionally avoided getting orders enforced.

I won't even get into the entire list.
The single worst thing Ms. Lancaster did during her representation of me was to completely ignore my written answers submitted to her, and emails and phone calls to her, regarding a deemed admissions request from the opposition in my case. Because she didn't respond, for months, the admissions were accepted by the court, AS PRESENTED! I dare not share the dollar amount this could have simply given away.
Her actions destroyed my case and subsequently cost me well into 5 figures and nearly an additional year of life I'll never get back trying to rectify this after retaining new counsel.
I will not be hiring her again.

Ms. Lancaster did nothing on time with the exception of demanding payment. At one point, she told me that we could finalize by the 10th. When that date came and went she finally responded to one of my emails explaining that she hadn't filed because she wasn't sure that was what I wanted. Since I got no calls or emails asking for guidance, I am fairly certain that she simply forgot. I felt that way regularly with her. I'd recommend self representation before hiring Ms. Lancaster.

Ms. Lancaster seems like a nice person, but I regret hiring her. I felt she was likely overbooked as my emails would often not come back a with a response within a reasonable time frame, and often did not come back at all. I entered this process with no knowledge of the legal procedures, and often did not receive guidance or insight as to what to expect and what was common or reasonable. She did not explain to me that it was possible to settle out of court and as a result we took something to court that did not need to go. When filling out the paperwork, I was uncertain about income that needed to be included. Following he'd advise cause the opposition to be able to frame me as being intentionally deceitful. She also advised increasing non ordered support before we went yo court, which set the stage for the opposition to argue that even more was required. I very much wish I had hired a more expensive lawyer, since I ended up having k g yo pay the opposition's bills as well as my own.
