I can not say enough great things about this law firm. They truly work together as a team and it’s all hands on deck when needed to get stuff done. Dana and Thomas are amazing attorneys and really provided me with the best advice. Because of them, my case ended quickly and with little hassle and I’m happy with the results. Brittany was quick to respond to my inquiry and get me set up with a consultation. Emily did an amazing job at staying in contact with me and helping me during the initial consultation process. Ashleigh was helpful in ensuring things were scheduled correctly and answering any questions I had. Terri was kind and did amazing in making sure everything was set up and ready to go for our meetings. I appreciate everything the law firm did in helping me.

Mr. Palmer and the Palmer Law Group recently helped me with modification of an existing order. Extremely altruistic law firm! Practical and honest. I'm impressed by this firm's organization. Their system to organize cases and charge for time spent on cases is amazing! Responsive group of people who go above and beyond! Also, check out their show to get insights into their character. The Lawyer Dana Podcast.

Went in for a consultation with Palmer Law Group after having to terminate my previous lawyer due to communication barriers. I got ahold of someone as soon as I called to schedule an appointment and they were able to get me in the next morning. I called back later because I forgot my appointment time and got a phone call back AFTER HOURS from Emily who was able to confirm the time. I have never seen a law office that is willing to go above and beyond working around the clock to ensure clients needs are addressed. They also seem to have implemented some excellent software to keep the entire team on the same page regarding cases. I left the consultation knowing that Dana already knew what approach was necessary in order to get the results I wanted. He didnt sugar coat anything and was up front about potential costs for each step.

When you’re involved in an auto accident, the last thing you want to worry about is the quality of your representation. I was very fortunate to have been referred to and be represented by the McCraw Law Group. Every individual involved in my claim was professional, courteous, and sympathetic from the beginning of my inquiry to the end of the claim. The attorneys and their staff provided exceptional service and were always available to take or return my calls. They all went above and beyond their required duties and exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend this firm for any and all legal services provided by this firm. Many thanks to all of those that helped with my claim from start to finish: Attorneys;: Ian Kalis, Thompson Du, Landon Knotts Case Handlers/Paralegals: Kyra Stull, Reid Clibbens Settlements/Liens: Jade Garner and April VanHoose

Very responsive and friendly office. My case was dismissed so basically a win for me and the Edgett law firm. They have a team of attorneys so you may not have the attorney that sits down with you initially but whoever they assign to your case is more than competent. I sat down with Mallory initially but ended up a ex district attorney now working for the Edgett law firm who the judge made a point to tell me was a great attorney. Couldn’t of asked for a better outcome!

I called their law firm around 9 pm, after speaking to the receptionist she passed my call to Ms. Mallory immediately who understood the seriousness and sympathized with my situation. Ms. Mallory was kind enough to talk to me and guide me despite the fact my case didn’t fall in their expertise. She guided me through the process, explained to me about how I should go about in my case and also provided me the right referrals. The fact that she took her personal time off and cared for me, speaks volumes! Thank you so much for your time. May God bless your firm always. Highly recommend them.

**Edit** I chose not to include any details, but since there is a reply there are things to address now. Thank you for giving me a template. You are surprised about my one (1) star review? When I FIRED you? When you returned almost no calls or emails, and scheduled a face to face meeting and you didn't show to that? And still refused my call so I waited around about half an hour... Now then, I asked to file a hearing to have my bond conditions (the one that prohibited me from talking to my wife AFTER the PO expired) and you claimed that could not be done. Even though the Honorable Judge told me in arraignment that I could do so, and "best of luck to [me]." Turns out you were wrong, and my then new attorney said that should have been done long ago, and the hearing was made and the judge granted it as we desired. It was you who told me a bond condition did not apply to me. I asked when and how to submit a drug test as it was clearly on a generic form of bond conditions, or "conditions of bond." You told me that condition didn't apply to me without any explanation. And if that were the case, what else might have been?! Your communication is a complete 0. My other attorney, Mr. Kent Starr, was fantastic and everything I hoped for in an attorney. He removed the bond conditions, he dismissed in less than a month the first case, and then ultimately dismissed the other case. Complete dismissals when you told me you were going to 'try' for a "conditional dismissal." I only ever fully complied and did as I was asked. My mistake was trusting you for as long as I did. Your next sentence starting with "Finally" is riddled with false claims, and shows your level of thoroughness. #1 the World Health Organization defines middle age as being 44-60 years of age. Well, you overshot the lowest mark by about 143%. Not only that, I never asked you to communicate with any family members "individually," but rather be included in email correspondence. You neither made clear, nor gave a half-baked explanation. You only left them off of emails, etc. Again, it didn't take more time. The conditions were indeed modified. While CPS attorneys (who didn't have anything to do with THIS case) and the state expressed zero support. I fully complied with all judges' orders, hence modifying the conditions through hearings. Lastly, I left this one (1) star review AFTER all cases were completely dismissed with 0 conditions. Charges were never filed as a felony, but a misdemeanor. And by the time of this review, dismissed. I would expect a law firm to be able to look that up and fact-check what they write.

After paying a total of $300 for two consultations, 15-min each, at a different law firm and not receiving sufficient guidance on how to move forward with my situation regarding a real estate matter, I decided to continue my search in finding what I deemed to be adequate legal counsel. Therefore, I conducted an online search and came across the Law Office of Bradley Voyles. His reviews seemed extraordinary, and I was eager to give his office a call in hopes of setting up an appointment to speak with him as soon as he was available to meet with me. When I called his office, I was hoping I would be able to quickly pay my consultation fees and schedule an appointment with Mr. Voyles to have my issues addressed within the next 1-2 weeks or so. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find out from his receptionist that although Mr. Voyles was currently in court at the time of my call, I was promised he would call me back later that same day to go over my concerns. From the moment I called Mr. Voyles's office, I was immediately impressed at how courteous his staff was, and in how responsive Mr. Voyles was in getting back to me in the same day. I was not expecting this level of service at all! Furthermore, when I called his office, I was surprised that at no time during the call were consultation fees ever brought up. Usually law offices want to charge your credit card lots of $$$ before you can even just say, "hello" to an attorney. But this was not the case here. I genuinely felt like Mr. Voyles and his staff's primary concern was just immediately addressing my concerns and nothing more. In fact, when Mr. Voyles called me, he spoke to me for over 40 minutes. He also asked me to email him documentation and real estate contracts regarding some of the matters I discussed with him, and after wrapping up our conversation, he still never asked for any consultation fees. I'm honestly in awe at how patient Mr. Voyles was with me during the call and with how informative he had been. The level of legal service I was provided by him was unparalleled to anything I've received elsewhere. I honestly cannot see myself entertaining another law firm on any related legal matters, just based off the recent experiences I've had with Mr. Voyles and his staff. Mr. Voyles, this is how you create relationships that are mutually beneficial between the attorney and client! Thank you so much for everything you've done to help me! Sincerely, Andrew L.

Working with Natalie Paul was a true pleasure. She and her team(Stephanie Fay) handled my probate case promptly, professionally and compassionately. After the death of a parent, things can get REALLY confusing for the executor. Along with the inevitable workload of managing my father's affairs to completion, the probate process is a black hole of never ending tasks and spontaneous issues that I'd never anticipated. Over a period of about 6 months Natalie communicated effectively and was able to walk me through the intense and laborious process, all while empathically answering my continuous flow of questions. Her help was very much appreciated!!

From the second I walked into their office I knew this was the team I wanted working with me. They answered all of my initial questions and concerns regarding my situation. Being a difficult situation I did not want it dragging out for an extended period of time and Kayla and her team did an excellent job getting it handled and finalized in a timely manner. I’m big on communication and everytime I reached out with question I had an answer same day, whether it was directly from Kayla or a member of her team. They made sure I felt comfortable with every decision they made and gave me their professional opinion when it came to my thoughts on certain terms. I would pick this team to represent me again if ever needed.

Initially I hired Mr. Miranda to handle a misdemeanor family violence charge that I was falsely accused of. He got that case DISMISSED for me. Absolute worst lawyer ever! Doesn't explain the steps of your case. Is very hard to communicate with since he barely responds to emails/phone calls. For my case he put my business appraiser two weeks after due date on docket. Lost my witness, $5000 dollars for appraisal, and around $100,000 business value since the judge didn't allow the testimony or appraisal paperwork. Since my husband didn't provide most of the needed paperwork after the discovery phase, we had two 'motion to compel' hearings. Twice Eric did NOT ask for the missing documents at all, even though he recommended these hearings. Again, another waste of time and money. For the final court hearing he was absolutely not prepared and did a horrible job presenting my case. Since the divorce outcome was so bad, he recommended that I'd appeal the judge's decision. Really? You mess it up and blame the judge? I would never, ever recommend him. One would think that $450/hour would bring some knowledge and expertise. Alas!

What a Child Support Lawyer Can Do for You

A child support lawyer specializes in legal issues related to the financial support that one parent provides to another for the upbringing of their children. These lawyers assist with establishing, enforcing, and modifying child support orders, ensuring that the financial needs of the child are met, including housing, food, healthcare, education, and other essentials. A child support lawyer can also represent parents in disputes over the amount of support, ensure fair calculations based on income, and handle legal proceedings if one parent fails to meet their obligations.

Whether you're seeking to establish child support, modify an existing order, or enforce payments, a child support lawyer can help you navigate the legal system and protect your rights and the well-being of your child.

When Should I Hire a Child Support Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a child support lawyer when you need assistance with any of the following child support matters:

  • Establishing child support: If you are going through a divorce or separation and need to establish a child support order, a lawyer can help ensure that the support amount is fair and accurately calculated.
  • Modifying child support orders: If there has been a significant change in circumstances, such as a job loss, income change, or a child's financial needs, a lawyer can help you request a modification to the existing child support order.
  • Enforcing child support payments: If the other parent has failed to make court-ordered child support payments, a lawyer can help enforce the order through legal means such as wage garnishment, property liens, or even legal action.
  • Disputing child support calculations: If you believe the child support amount has been incorrectly calculated based on your income or expenses, a lawyer can help you challenge the calculation and seek a fair adjustment.
  • Paternity disputes: If paternity needs to be established before child support can be ordered, a lawyer can assist with DNA testing and legal proceedings.
  • Interstate child support cases: If the parents live in different states, navigating child support laws can be complex. A lawyer can help ensure the proper jurisdiction is established and that child support is enforced across state lines.
  • Child support during custody disputes: If child custody and child support are being determined simultaneously, a lawyer can help ensure that both issues are resolved fairly and in the best interest of the child.

Hiring a lawyer early can help ensure that your child support case is handled effectively and that your child's financial needs are met.

What Does a Child Support Lawyer Do?

A child support lawyer provides a variety of legal services to help parents secure, modify, and enforce child support arrangements. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Filing for child support: A lawyer can help you initiate the legal process to obtain a child support order, ensuring that all necessary documentation is submitted and deadlines are met.
  • Calculating child support: A lawyer can help ensure that child support is calculated fairly based on both parents' incomes, the needs of the child, and other factors such as healthcare and education costs.
  • Negotiating child support agreements: If both parents are willing to negotiate, a lawyer can help facilitate an agreement on child support outside of court, which can then be approved by a judge.
  • Representing you in court: If negotiations fail or the other parent contests the child support amount, a lawyer will represent you in family court, presenting evidence and making legal arguments to support your case.
  • Modifying support orders: A lawyer can help you file a request for modification if circumstances change, such as a loss of income or an increase in the child’s financial needs.
  • Enforcing child support: If the other parent is not making court-ordered payments, a lawyer can take legal steps to enforce the order through wage garnishment, property liens, or other measures.
  • Handling complex cases: In cases involving high incomes, self-employment, or complicated financial situations, a lawyer can help ensure that all relevant factors are considered in determining child support.

How Are Child Support Lawyers Paid?

Child support lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the type of legal work required. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Most child support lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location. The total cost will depend on how much time the lawyer spends on your case, including preparation, negotiations, and court appearances.
  • Flat fee: For more straightforward cases, such as uncontested child support agreements or basic modifications, some lawyers may offer a flat fee that covers all services related to the case.
  • Retainer: Many lawyers require a retainer, which is an upfront payment that is billed against as the lawyer works on your case. The amount of the retainer depends on the expected complexity of the case.
  • Sliding scale or pro bono services: Some lawyers offer sliding scale fees based on income or provide pro bono (free) services in cases where clients cannot afford to pay full legal fees, especially when children’s needs are at stake.

It’s important to discuss fees with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how much you will be charged and what services are covered.

How Much Does a Child Support Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a child support lawyer varies depending on the complexity of the case, whether it's contested or uncontested, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost estimates include:

  • Uncontested child support cases: Legal fees may range from $1,500 to $5,000, depending on the complexity of the paperwork and the lawyer’s fees.
  • Contested child support cases: Legal fees can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, especially if the case involves significant court time.
  • Hourly rates: Lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour for child support cases, with higher rates for more experienced attorneys or cases that involve complex financial issues.
  • Modification or enforcement: Fees for modifying or enforcing a child support order may range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on the complexity and the need for court intervention.

Always ask for a detailed cost estimate during your consultation so you can plan your budget accordingly.

Top Questions to Ask a Child Support Lawyer

Before hiring a child support lawyer, it’s important to ask questions to ensure they are the right fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with child support cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s establishing, modifying, or enforcing child support orders.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, offers flat fees, or requires a retainer, and ask for a detailed estimate of the total cost.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of your case and any potential challenges you may face.
  4. How long will the process take?
Child support cases can take time, so ask the lawyer how long they expect the process to last and what factors may cause delays.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of the case. Make sure you know who will be managing your case and representing you in court.
  6. What documents should I prepare?
Ask the lawyer what financial documents and other information you should bring to help them calculate child support and build your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Child Support Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable child support lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for family law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in family law and have successfully handled child support cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on child support matters.
  • Check for certifications: Some lawyers may have certifications in family law or membership in organizations like the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), which can indicate their expertise in child support and family law issues.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a child support lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Income documents: Bring pay stubs, tax returns, W-2s, or any other documentation of your income and the other parent’s income, as this will be used to calculate child support.
  • Existing child support orders: If there are any existing child support or custody orders, bring copies for the lawyer to review.
  • Child-related expenses: Provide documentation of your child’s medical bills, education expenses, daycare costs, and any other expenses that should be factored into the child support calculation.
  • Communication with the other parent: Bring any communication between you and the other parent regarding child support, whether through emails, text messages, or written agreements.
  • List of questions: Prepare a list of questions about your case, the legal process, and the lawyer’s fees.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your case more effectively and provide the best possible legal advice on how to proceed.
