I came to Michael during what can only be called the worst period of my life. Going through a divorce is hard enough but at the same time my daughter was being treated for cancer and there was a pandemic going on. He was always calm and clear and helped me to do the same, taking me step by step through what seemed like an unmanageable process. These never really end well for the people involved but I was able to come away with my dignity and confidence intact with his help.

She is very responsive which is very rare with most attorneys. So, she created a Power of Attorney for me which is very specific and was time sensitive. I was impressed by her attention to detail and how she explained legal things that were new to me, made it easier to understand and educate me at the same time.

In 2024, I hired her for a DCFS hearing before an administrative judge and after collecting my hard earned money, she changed completely! As an Attorney she was supposed to carry out interviews prior to the hearing to help give my case a chance, but she didn't. During the hearing I was the one that brought one person to support me. My advice to anyone, DO NOT HIRE her, she will do TERRIBLE JOB!!!!

Alex Rothenberg served as the court-appointed GAL (Guardian ad Litem) in my case, and my experience with her was deeply troubling. Despite initially appearing engaged by asking questions and taking notes, she failed to address any of my concerns, displayed a clear bias toward my ex-wife, and accepted her statements as truth without requiring any supporting evidence.
Alex prematurely removed herself from the case, leaving critical issues unresolved and contributing to an outcome where my daughter has been denied fair and equal time with both parents. Her actions violated several key statutes and guidelines that GALs are required to follow in Illinois, including:
750 ILCS 5/506(a)(2): GALs must conduct an independent investigation, including interviews and a review of relevant documents, and provide an objective recommendation to the court. Alex failed to conduct a thorough investigation or verify evidence, instead relying on unchecked statements from my ex-wife.
Best Interest of the Child Standard (750 ILCS 5/602.7): GALs are required to prioritize the child’s well-being and ensure meaningful relationships with both parents unless there is clear evidence to the contrary. Alex’s biased and incomplete recommendations directly harmed my daughter’s ability to have a fair and balanced relationship with both parents.
Ethical Obligations of Attorneys and GALs: GALs are required to avoid personal bias, remain neutral, and act in a professional manner that serves the child’s best interests. Alex’s personal bias against me was evident and unprofessional, resulting in recommendations that prioritized her own prejudice over the needs of a 5-year-old child.
To make matters worse, Alex’s conduct was part of a broader pattern within her firm. Other members of her firm displayed similarly unethical behavior, including inflated billing practices, misrepresentations to the court, and a general failure to uphold professional standards.
Alex’s unprofessional and unethical behavior, combined with her failure to follow required statutes, caused irreparable harm to my daughter’s well-being. Her actions were not only a disservice to the court but also a direct violation of the trust placed in her to act in the best interests of the child.

I would absolutely recommend Henry and the MKFM firm to all my friends and family. My case was a contested adoption and ended up also including a side appeal case as well. It was an extremely long and litigious case that required patience, expertise and attention to detail. I came to Henry with a divorce case previously handled by another attorney that was extremely long, complicated, and for which there was no similar precedent. Add to that a change in the divorce law while in process, and the complexity magnified. I truly believe had it not been for Henry's intelligence, tenacity, deep understanding/amazing total recall of the law, and spirited desire to make things right, my outcome would have been financially and psychologically disastrous. I hired Megan Harris for my divorce and custody case. Megan helped me obtain custody of my 3 young children. I think that's a huge feat for a dad in the first place. Issues arose post divorce and re-hired megan and she was there for me every step of the way. She is always available, she even was available for me on weekends. She will fight for you, communication is immediate, she will help you see the reality of the situation, and help facilitate agreements so not to drag things out of no reason. Lynn was the point person who sold me on the notion of using her and her firm for a large portion of my divorce. Admittedly, I bought fully into everything I heard in that initial conversation. After many, many months of what can only be described as one step forward, two steps back, I realized the sophomoric mistakes I had made. Once I found a different, suitable attorney and we built a relationship, I was asked: "What in the world did they actually do for you for $XX,XXX?" Not only was my case with her immediately handed off to an underling with near-zero experience, Lynn never once checked in with me to see if she could help get things moving again. I am not one to make these types of errors often and this was very costly, both financially and to the well-being of my children. She and her firm (father) seem to have built a tremendous name for themselves yet I have lived through a seemingly never ending experience that is a testament to the contrary. Continuance after continuance, deposition after deposition and sizable bills became the norm. There was even a time where I was being deposed and asked questions completely unrelated to anything at hand and the underling, my counsel, looked at me blankly and said nothing. In fact, my questions were rarely answered with anything concrete and reliable. In hindsight, a great many motions could have been handled differently which would have saved money, time and heartache. I strongly advise looking elsewhere. Great harm was done.

I recently had to switch from being represented by a different attorney to pro se. During my last hearing, the Judge gave me a list of my next steps & I was trying to write everything down as fast as possible. It was apparent I felt very overwhelmed at that moment as I walked away from the bench not sure where to turn first. The best way to describe her is Shakespeare's character of ''Shylock'' in The Merchant of Venice. In 2024, I hired her for a DCFS hearing before an administrative judge and after collecting my hard earned money, she changed completely! As an Attorney she was supposed to carry out interviews prior to the hearing to help give my case a chance, but she didn't. During the hearing I was the one that brought one person to support me. Alex Rothenberg served as the court-appointed GAL (Guardian ad Litem) in my case, and my experience with her was deeply troubling. Despite initially appearing engaged by asking questions and taking notes, she failed to address any of my concerns, displayed a clear bias toward my ex-wife, and accepted her statements as truth without requiring any supporting evidence.
Alex prematurely removed herself from the case, leaving critical issues unresolved and contributing to an outcome where my daughter has been denied fair and equal time with both parents. Her actions violated several key statutes and guidelines that GALs are required to follow in Illinois, including:
750 ILCS 5/506(a)(2): GALs must conduct an independent investigation, including interviews and a review of relevant documents, and provide an objective recommendation to the court. Alex failed to conduct a thorough investigation or verify evidence, instead relying on unchecked statements from my ex-wife.
Best Interest of the Child Standard (750 ILCS 5/602.7): GALs are required to prioritize the child’s well-being and ensure meaningful relationships with both parents unless there is clear evidence to the contrary. Alex’s biased and incomplete recommendations directly harmed my daughter’s ability to have a fair and balanced relationship with both parents.
Ethical Obligations of Attorneys and GALs: GALs are required to avoid personal bias, remain neutral, and act in a professional manner that serves the child’s best interests. Alex’s personal bias against me was evident and unprofessional, resulting in recommendations that prioritized her own prejudice over the needs of a 5-year-old child.
To make matters worse, Alex’s conduct was part of a broader pattern within her firm. Other members of her firm displayed similarly unethical behavior, including inflated billing practices, misrepresentations to the court, and a general failure to uphold professional standards.
Alex’s unprofessional and unethical behavior, combined with her failure to follow required statutes, caused irreparable harm to my daughter’s well-being. Her actions were not only a disservice to the court but also a direct violation of the trust placed in her to act in the best interests of the child.
Avoid Alex Rothenberg and her entire firm. Their lack of professionalism, integrity, and accountability makes them unfit for any legal matter, particularly those involving children.

Mr Dvi is by far the best lawyer I have ever hired. I got caught driving on a revoked 2 times in less than a month he got 1 case thrown out and 40 days EM on the other one even with it being my 5th offense. Not to mention I hired him once before this, he beat the case in trial for another driving on a revoked. I’m supposed to have 6 offenses but in the eyes of the court i only have 3. I was Pro Se with my case and issues of right of first refusal. Andrew was assigned to our case with my twins and he excelled in meeting our families needs. Please do not use Andy. I never give reviews and I got divorced a long time ago but I have to let people know how bad this attorney is. Between my horrible experience and a friend of mine whose husband used Andy, he is just really bad at what he does. I was in a long term marriage and Andy was only able to get me a 2.5 year reviewable. If I was making any money, I can see how something like that could happen, but I was a stay at home mom for most of my marriage. Basically, I had to go through the financial and emotional burden of a court divorce twice. My new attorney was exceptional and did an amazing job. She was such an advocate and was able to undo much of what Andy allowed. It only emphasized just how bad Andy was. I highly recommend that you try someone else.

I hired Juli for a divorce from a 9 year marriage. The divorce was horrible, my ex was completely unreasonable, and the whole process was incredibly complicated with kids, custody and supervision issues, and financial problems. Juli was always available to answer my questions, and was super knowledgeable. She was up front and honest about prospects, and not afraid to tell me what I wanted or was doing was unrealistic or damaging to the case. She also was very personable. You could really tell that she cared on a personal level about my situation and the kids and myself.

I was referred to Juli’s office by close family friends. The initial consultation was great and for the most part most things went smoothly. However upon receiving my final invoice I was charged for multiple things that made no sense. Most charges had full descriptions than slide in there would be “case work”. I was also charged juli’s full rate for the day of court when one of the new attorneys actually presented my case because she was “learning”. I also should mention They attempted to charge me for this new attorney to review my case prior to court! My final bill would have been almost $1500 more than my initial retainer had I not fought it for a divorce that was incredibly open and shut. I could see her being helpful with more complicated divorces as she is an intelligent lawyer but in my case my experience was terrible.
