I both spoke and met Mrs. Kathryn L. Hudson she was very good at explaining everything to me extremely well, especially in parts I had little knowledge in. I am very glad and blessed I met her. She was most knowledgeable in my situation and still able to offer her assistance continuing after we spoke. I defiantly would recommend her! 10/10

Norwood. That’s the only option. Not only did they represent me when I was truly innocent but had the odds stacked against me, but they have also helped with small traffic tickets. They can help across the board. They also worked really well with me on paying out the cost’s associated. You won’t find better representation and people that genuinely care.

Thorough knowledge of the law and how to prepare cases. Uses little known facts to help win your case. He is incredibly smart, hard-working—all characteristics that lend to being a very successful attorney. In addition, he takes the time to listen to the facts to better help you in your case. Highly recommend!

I know Matt McCoy as a fellow member of the bar. He is, without question, one of the more astute and thoughtful attorneys I have worked with in my career. I have followed his work closely and, while in private practice, inherited work he performed for a client. Quite simply, I was extremely impressed with the work product that Matt produced on behalf of this client. Beyond his client service, I have also been personal witness to Matt's advocacy skills in a courtroom setting. He is logical, methodical, and results-oriented. When he makes an argument on paper or in the courtroom, he puts every bit of himself into the shoes of his client. Finally, I have also sought Matt's advice and counsel on an array of legal topics where his expertise in, for instance, litigation, labor/employment law, procedure/administration, and Arkansas statutory law far exceeded similarly situated attorneys. Indeed, he is a "go to" type of attorney in many areas. His greatest attribute to his clients is his practical and helpful advice given on a one to one basis. Without hesitation, I would seek Matt's advice again, as well as recommend him to handle any number of legal matters.

He was booked solid and didn't have time to add me and didn't really do the type of legal work I needed anymore as he's scaling down for retirement. But he talked on phone 5 minutes and answered some questions I had and was very polite and honest. We even had a good laugh together. James sounds like a loving and caring lawyer. The community will miss him after he retires next year! Thank you young feller!

The Brad Hendricks Law Firm The Brad Hendricks Law Firm consists of some of Arkansas’ most professional lawyers. I am an old man who has traveled the world, and never before I have met a young fellow with the nobility I detected in Attorney Kitchen. I also had the opportunity to work with one of the most ingenious lawyers in the State of Arkansas. This gentleman is efficient in all his professional responsibilities and demonstrates an exceptional mastery of his skills. In these times when young men and women often have no social graces or respect towards their elders, Attorney Kitchen was very respectful in his communication with me regarding my case and never missed referring to me as mister or sir. He followed high standards of ethical behavior in our attorney-client relationship. I’d like to crown Attorney Kitchen as a Knight! Mr. Hendricks, it was an honor to do business with your law firm.

Allen Waters represented me through 3 divorces. My very first divorce from first ex-husband I was represented by another lawyer. My sister had recommended Allen Waters for my second divorce. My ex-husband was terribly horrible, malicious, absurd while going through several long months of waiting for court date. My ex-husband had told his lawyer that he wanted custody of our daughter. She was 13 months when we separated. I honestly had no reason to worry about this situation because they would have to prove me to be an unfit mother. And I have always taken care and raised my 3 children. So being so scared about this ugly situation...Well...it wasnt even worth all the worrying I did. Allen Waters advised to me. Terra, this is no reason to worry about this situation. Because, he said, no matter what. The facts remain the same. And to this day. I will never forget that one simple sentence. The facts are the facts. The truth is the truth. And you cannot argue with these. So I did get custody of our daughter. My ex-husband stated about wanting custody just one single time. After that he never mentioned it again. I have recommended several people to Allen Waters. They did go to him and chose him to represent that particular person. I have had several of the people I recommend to him that he was awesome. He performed his job so incredible and with such smoothness. He is very intelligent, knowledgeable, and personal with down to earth attitude. Very easy to talk with, to discuss case with. Plus Allen Waters price on cases are very reasonable. Most times...his prices are somewhat cheaper than any other lawyer in this town. I will always have Allen Waters for my lawyer for any kind of situation. My sister will always have Allen Waters to represent

I have retained Mark Mobley twice, with a couple of decades in between those two occasions. However, I have spoken with him many times through the years regarding a variety of things, some regarding criminal law, probate issues as well as many other things from simple legal matters to complicated political issues where I wanted his opinion on certain things. I have also known many people who have hired him to represent them in a variety of matters. I think that he is the best criminal defense attorney in my area. I find him to be quite motivated, smart and quite frankly arrogant, which I believe is something anyone should want in a criminal defense attorney. A person who is good and knows it. A person that will give everything they have to defend you if for no other reason than self preservation. I must say that Mark is very nice, as long as you do what he tells you to do. In my case there have been a few times, he would say many, where I talk too much. Those are the times that I have regretted the most. When I interrupt him, is when I am not hearing what may be the information I need to solve my problem or at the very least, lessen my problem or its consequences. I cause myself to miss the very information I am paying him for. I think that Mark Mobley is fantastic and I could not recommend him on any higher level than that. I think he is a brilliant, sometimes brash, sometimes sweet gentleman that if you are in trouble with the law, the perfect attorney that can get you out of a jam.

I highly recommend Val to ANYONE for ANYTHING!!! She is such an amazing attorney and woman. She gives reassurance and guidance, communicates well, reaches out, and does everything in her power to help. I went through a custody battle with her and after almost 2.5 years I walked out of that courtroom with full physical and legal custody of my three children! When I thought there was no hope, she never gave up! For that I will be forever greatful!!!

Valerie Goudie is the epitome of a saint. From day 1 she was invested in our step-parent adoption case. She didn’t care that we’re a same-sex couple, she believed in our case and she made sure every document was complete and accurate, she listened and put not only her work, but her heart into this case. One incident in the case we thought the judge may dismiss but she vowed no matter what we had this and she wouldn’t give up. She knows exactly what she’s doing and in the event she has a question, she checks it 7 times over. With every quote we received upon filing for the adoption she was by far the best price. Even though 10 months later we racked a nice bill because I emailed her so much..she’s worth every single penny. Aside from winning our case she was there for me when I needed her, through my panic attacks and my frantic emails to crying relief over the phone. My favorite moment when i knew without a shadow of a doubt she had our family’s best interest at heart, was when she dropped what she was doing on her mini vacation to call me and calm my nerves after a traumatic event with the biological parent. She talked me through each step to take and I can never thank her enough. I’ll be recommending her to every person I know.

I regret to say that my experience with this law firm, particularly attorney Kate Hill, was incredibly disappointing. I scheduled a $200 consultation appointment with Kate after her assistant assured me that there were no conflicts of interest that would prevent her from representing me. However, after Kate spoke with my ex-wife's attorney, who happened to be my opposition, she suddenly claimed that a conflict existed, rendering her unable to represent me in any future matters. It is deeply concerning that Kate's decision seemed to be influenced by conversations with the opposing party's attorney. This indicates a lack of integrity and independence on her part, which are essential qualities for any lawyer. A lawyer's primary duty should be to advocate for their client's best interests, not to bow to pressure from the other side. Overall, my experience with this law firm, particularly with attorney Kate Hill, has left me questioning their professionalism and commitment to their clients. I would caution anyone considering their services to proceed with extreme caution, as their actions suggest a weak and easily swayed legal representation.

Please do not use this law firm. Stephen vowel was completely unprepared for my case. He did not go after the information that was needed he did not review the information that he had he did not prepare for the case whatsoever. He did not go over what he was going to ask me before we went to court. I have called the manager of the office with no return phone call. I have emailed the owner of Taylor law firm with no return email. I've also received an additional bill for $2697 with the majority of that bill being time he spent studying guardianship. I told him at our first meeting that I needed someone who was very Adept in this situation because it would need a lot of work to get to where we needed to go. He didn't do the work and he let an old Madison County attorney get the best of him and my dad is still being abused. Do not use this firm

Terrible experience with Matt Benson. Always promises things and never delivers. Been trying to get contempt charges drawn up for at least 12 months and he takes my money but doesn't do anything then needs more money. I had mediation and he left in the middle of the mediation. Chris came in and was helpful but still Chris didn't know anything about the case. I will say Sol Kim while he was at Taylor Law Partners was the best attorney I have personally ever been around. Unfortunately he is no longer with the firm. I can't even get ahold of Matt to fire him.

I’m super fortunate that I had Will Bond and Sarah Jewell represent my personal injury case. They really are genuine, compassionate and honest. I’m amazed at how smooth my case went and they are top notch when dealing with insurance companies. I was kept up to date and informed about my case at all times and all calls and texts were returned promptly. No pressure whatsoever, never felt taken advantage of, and I was given realistic expectations. I appreciate their professionalism and integrity. I’m super happy with the outcome of my case. 100% recommend Will Bond and Sarah Jewell. I will absolutely be back if I ever need legal representation again .

What a Civil Rights Lawyer Can Do for You

A civil rights lawyer focuses on protecting individuals whose constitutional rights have been violated by government authorities, employers, or private organizations. These lawyers specialize in cases involving discrimination, police misconduct, freedom of speech, and other fundamental rights guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution and civil rights laws, such as the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Fair Housing Act.

Whether you've been discriminated against due to race, gender, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics, or you believe your civil rights have been violated by a government entity, a civil rights lawyer can help you seek justice, hold wrongdoers accountable, and secure compensation for any harm you've suffered.

When Should I Hire a Civil Rights Lawyer?

You should hire a civil rights lawyer when your constitutional rights or other protected rights have been violated, and you need legal assistance to seek justice. Some key situations in which you may need a civil rights lawyer include:

  • Employment discrimination: If you have faced discrimination at work based on race, gender, age, religion, national origin, or disability, a civil rights lawyer can help you file claims under laws such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Police misconduct or brutality: If you were the victim of police brutality, unlawful arrest, racial profiling, or other forms of misconduct, a lawyer can help you file a lawsuit for violations of your Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights.
  • Freedom of speech or assembly violations: If your First Amendment rights to free speech or peaceful assembly have been restricted by the government, a civil rights lawyer can represent you in challenging the violation.
  • Housing discrimination: If you’ve been denied housing or faced unfair treatment due to your race, ethnicity, gender, or disability, a lawyer can help you file a complaint under the Fair Housing Act.
  • Voter rights violations: If you believe your right to vote has been unfairly suppressed or you’ve faced discrimination in the voting process, a civil rights lawyer can help you fight for your rights.
  • Disability rights violations: If you’ve faced discrimination in accessing public spaces, employment, or services due to a disability, a lawyer can help enforce your rights under the ADA.
  • LGBTQ+ rights violations: If you've experienced discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, housing, or public services, a civil rights lawyer can help you pursue legal remedies.

Hiring a lawyer early on can help you understand your legal options and build a strong case to protect your rights.

What Does a Civil Rights Lawyer Do?

A civil rights lawyer provides legal representation and advocacy to individuals whose rights have been violated. Their work can include:

  • Filing lawsuits: A civil rights lawyer can represent you in court by filing lawsuits against individuals, businesses, or government entities that violated your rights.
  • Advocating for policy changes: Civil rights lawyers often engage in advocacy work, pushing for reforms to laws and policies that infringe upon people's rights.
  • Representing clients in discrimination claims: These lawyers help clients file claims with federal or state agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
  • Negotiating settlements: In many cases, civil rights lawyers work to negotiate settlements for their clients before a case goes to trial, securing compensation for damages such as lost wages, emotional distress, or legal fees.
  • Defending freedom of expression: Lawyers may represent clients whose rights to free speech, assembly, or protest were violated by government restrictions or other actions.
  • Handling appeals: If your civil rights case has been decided but you wish to appeal the ruling, a civil rights lawyer can help you through the appeals process.

How Are Civil Rights Lawyers Paid?

Civil rights lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the type of legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Contingency fee: Many civil rights lawyers work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if they win your case. Their fee is typically a percentage (usually 25% to 40%) of the settlement or damages awarded.
  • Hourly rate: For cases that require extensive legal research or litigation, some lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Pro bono or sliding scale: Some civil rights lawyers or organizations may work on a pro bono (free) basis or use a sliding fee scale for clients who cannot afford typical legal fees.
  • Flat fee: In specific cases, a lawyer may charge a flat fee for services like drafting legal documents or filing a complaint.

It’s important to clarify the fee structure during your initial consultation to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does a Civil Rights Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a civil rights lawyer varies depending on the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the type of legal issue. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fee cases: For cases taken on a contingency basis, the lawyer’s fee will typically range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or judgment awarded.
  • Hourly rates: Many civil rights lawyers charge hourly rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For straightforward legal tasks, such as filing a complaint with a government agency or drafting legal documents, flat fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Pro bono work: Some civil rights lawyers or nonprofit organizations provide free legal representation in certain cases involving important constitutional or civil rights issues.

Be sure to ask for a detailed estimate of costs during your consultation to understand the financial commitment involved.

Top Questions to Ask a Civil Rights Lawyer

Before hiring a civil rights lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the best fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with civil rights cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s employment discrimination, police misconduct, or First Amendment violations.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer works on a contingency fee basis, hourly rate, or flat fee, and ask for an estimate of the total cost of your case.
  3. What is the likelihood of success for my case?
Ask the lawyer to provide an honest assessment of your case, including the strengths, weaknesses, and potential outcomes.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Inquire about the lawyer’s experience in cases with similar facts and legal issues.
  5. What is the timeline for resolving my case?
While exact timelines can vary, ask for an estimate of how long your case may take, from filing to resolution.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may work on parts of your case, so it’s important to know who will handle your legal matter directly.

How to Check the Credibility of a Civil Rights Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable civil rights lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their state bar license: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for specific civil rights experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in civil rights law and have a history of handling cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who can speak to their experience with civil rights cases.
  • Check for advocacy or nonprofit work: Lawyers involved with civil rights organizations, such as the ACLU or NAACP Legal Defense Fund, may have a strong reputation in the civil rights legal community.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a civil rights lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • A detailed account of the violation: Provide a written summary of the events, including dates, times, and any people involved in the violation of your rights.
  • Documentation and evidence: Bring any supporting documentation, such as emails, letters, photos, or video footage that may help prove the violation of your rights.
  • Records of complaints or reports: If you’ve filed complaints with a government agency or reported the violation, bring copies of those documents.
  • List of questions: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes of your case.
  • Information on damages or harm: Be prepared to discuss the harm you’ve suffered due to the violation, such as emotional distress, financial loss, or physical injury.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your case more effectively and get the best possible legal advice on how to proceed.
