I reached out to Abrieno Law after my friend suffered a serious injury from a fallen tree at a state park. Even though I wasn’t a paying client, they were incredibly generous with their time and knowledge, offering valuable information over the phone. They went above and beyond, and offered to visit my friend in the hospital to discuss the matter personally.   The customer service was outstanding, and I wholeheartedly recommend contacting them if you ever find yourself facing a legal issue.

James Abrenio is a real professional - He is a very direct and clear communicator, and offers really helpful advice. He asked me questions about my situation and then provided very detailed advice, even following up with an email describing each piece of advice with action items. I will be sharing his information with my friends.

I cannot recommend attorney Misha Lopez and his boutique law office highly enough! From the moment I stepped into their office, I felt valued and understood. Misha is incredibly attentive and truly client-focused. He took the time to learn every detail of my case, ensuring he was well-prepared for litigation. What sets Misha apart is his commitment to his clients. He is always available to answer questions and provides clear, thorough explanations of every step in the process. It's evident that he genuinely cares about the outcome and works tirelessly to achieve the best possible results. If you're looking for a dedicated, knowledgeable, and compassionate attorney, look no further than Lee Lopez Law and their team. They have exceeded my expectations in every way and made a challenging situation much more manageable. Highly recommended!

Consumer Litigation Associates helped my spouse and I fix our credit after having an old auto loan inaccurately report the final disposition of our account to each of the credit bureaus. We worked with Drew Sarrett and Vicki Crissman, who each helped us expertly navigate the tremendous amount of paperwork and process required to satisfactorily resolve the matter and fully restore our credit ratings. Highly recommend.

I hired CLA for a FCRA identity theft case against a major US bank and the 3 credit bureaus. CLA handled the case professionally, efficiently, in an organised fashion and paid special attention to my specific needs even through difficult pandemic times. The job was completed and settlements were obtained from all 4 defendants. I would highly recommend this firm to anyone in need of similar representation.

My 2012 VW GTIs engine blew after a timing chain failure, and I was extremely worried that I was going to have to spend over $7,000 getting it fixed. Instead, I made the extremely intelligent decision of reaching out to Mr. Webster after reading a positive review of his services in an online forum. Although my GTI was not covered under warranty or included in the class-action lawsuit, Mr. Webster was able to negotiate a settlement with VW for 100% of the cost of the engine replacement, plus reimbursement for towing and other service expenses. It took a couple of weeks for everything to happen, but I am extremely grateful to him and his team. He may be a wizard of sorts.

When the timing chain malfunctioned on my 2011 VW Tiguan, the engine needed to be replaced at a cost of almost $6000, There were no warning signs at all. I wanted to see if there were any class action lawsuits for this issue so I googled VW timing chain lawsuits and found Steven Webster's website. When I left a message for him, he called me back within a few hours, told me that VW was aware of the problem, asked me how much my expenses were in relation to the failure, and told me to send him a copy of the bill after I picked up the car. Within 2 weeks the issue was settled and VW paid my claim. I was so lucky to have found this lawfirm!

I was the victim of identity theft. Someone forged my signature on loan documents. The identity thief stopped making payments on the loan shortly after the account was opened. The fraudulent loan accounts appeared on my credit reports. As a result, I could not refinance my home and credit limits on my existing accounts were being reduced. I sent numerous letters to the credit reporting agencies and the banks with limited success. I was ultimately forced to file a federal lawsuit to protect my rights, my credit and my good name. I was able to get the fraudulent accounts removed from my credit reports and settled my case before trial. I signed separate settlement agreements with each named defendant. The terms and amounts of each settlement agreement are confidential. John helped me through the entire process. He also took my case on a contingency fee basis. I did not have to pay any money out-of-pocket. John was a beacon of light in a very dark time of not knowing and I would recommend him and use him again if needed.

An identity thief stole my identity and used my name and credit to purchase a house that belonged to his ex-wife. The identity thief only made a few payments on the property and let it go into foreclosure. The foreclosure appeared on my credit report as well as a homeowners association judgment for past due HOA fees related to the property. Needless to say, my credit scores were low and obtaining credit was nearly impossible. I did not know where to turn until I was referred to John Bazaz. He was able to walk me through the entire process. He was able to get the judgment vacated in state court. He then helped me dispute the foreclosure and judgment that still appeared on my credit reports. When the credit reporting agencies and the bank refused to delete the inaccurate accounts, he filed a federal lawsuit against them. John was able to get the foreclosure and judgment accounts removed from my credit reports. We settled with each defendant separately before trial. The terms and amounts are confidential. As an added bonus, John took my federal case on a contingency fee basis. He was paid only after I was paid. I strongly encourage you to contact John if you are the victim of identity theft. Liz

The characterization of Tom by "Tony" bears no resemblance to the diligent and hard-working attorney who represented the company I co-founded in several disputes, including a contentious and difficult litigation, ultimately negotiating a favorable settlement. Tom puts in the hours and put our minds at ease about the judicial proceedings. He combines the aggressiveness you want in your lawyer with the intelligence in crafting arguments and making complex strategy calls.+ The highest praise I could give is that, were I or my business facing a new legal dispute, his number would be the first one I would dial.

I'm sorry to say that, even though I was married in the Catholic Church, my wife divorced me in March of this year, 2019. It was traumatic of course but Sharon Lieblich not only did a great job as a lawyer, but as a human being. I truly grew to love her. She was recommended by my family's lawyer in NYC, and though she was more expensive than other lawyers in Virginia, she probably saved me half a million bucks. You can't beat Harvard lawyers!

After being charged with DWI, dealing with other attorneys who had given up on my case and being left in the dark with almost zero chance of success was tremendously stressful. After contacting him, he is not only shown care but also taken the time to hear my side of the story and have treated me as more than simply a client. As a result, I’ve started to experience a wave of relief. Although, I had a very slim chance for a favorable outcome he made tireless efforts using his exceptional case-building skills and professionalism. He went through the intricate details of my case. Prior to court date he was ready to fight hard for my case in every direction using clever, clear and great plan of action to argue and strategically invalidate the prosecutor’s contention. He always returned my calls and emails and always gave me the assurance that we would get through that trying time. His experience and insights have driven my case from the beginning and have given me immense confidence. He arrived at court with assurance and tenacity. He provided a conclusion for my case that exceeded my expectations. I could not have asked for anyone better, and I am in awe of his legal knowledge. With the help of his dedicated assistance and competent legal counsel my charges dropped down. I’ll never forget the value of his services to my family and I. He was not only helping me to get back to the life by alleviating my stress and anxiety; he had also much surpassed what I expected and made me to feel that he was not only an excellent attorney, but an angel sent by God. Words cannot convey how much I’m very appreciative for his entire legal service & I would 1000% recommend his representation.

I took the time to put together a detailed summary and never heard back. I followed up with them and they said they would give me a call, and never did. If you don’t want the work or don’t think we have a good case, why not just say so to my face instead of wasting my time?

After scouring Google for a fair/reputable law firm that I trusted to handle my uncontested divorce I came across Virginia Family Law Center. I knew after visiting their immaculately detailed website that my search was over. The site allowed me to see early on just how welcoming, transparent, and dedicated the staff at this law firm is. From the very first interaction in addition to speaking with Ms. Carroll during my initial free consultation I knew that I could rest assured and trust VA Family Law with my individual situation. As a 1st time divorcée to say that my nerves and emotions were naturally heightened would be an understatement. Yet throughout it all VA Family Law held my hand every step of the way. They never complicated the matter further by adding any uncertainty or confusion to the mix. The entire process was seamless from beginning to end. All of my questions and concerns were acknowledged, validated, and dealt with accordingly. All of my emails and/or phone calls were swiftly returned & answered I was never left hanging. I was assisted closely by Ms. Medina, Ms. Carroll, and Ms. Herrera. I have to say these professionals are quite the dynamic trio. They are the epitome of tact, empathy, and servitude. They went above and beyond to resolve this delicate matter for me and I am eternally grateful. However, I would like to commend the entire staff at VA Family Law Center. Since I know that each individual brings something to the table as far as the law firms overall credibility and efficiency goes. Honestly, I was brought back to life with each instructive email and every heartfelt update. The guestimated time frame for my divorce to be finalized was 2 to 3 weeks and everything was wrapped up exactly at the 2 week mark. I don't want to jinx it but I know in my heart if I ever have to get a divorce again I will be reaching out to y'all immediately! Ps. I will be referring all of my loved ones that need legal assistance, divorce wise and beyond to you all without hesitation. Warmest Regards, Ms. M Marks

My wife and I were extremely fortunate to find Dale Pittman. He was recommended by one of the top-rated attorneys in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He is a consummate professional with tremendous legal experience. He and his paralegal Karen were always there to answer any questions we had and guide us through the process. Any and all enquiries were answered promptly and thoroughly. In addition to his vast knowledge, Dale brought his steadfast commitment to our case. He has an excellent network of attorneys to call on at any time. We felt like we were being looked after by close friends. Our settlement was far larger than we expected. We will always be grateful that we had the opportunity to work with Dale Pittman and his legal professionals

I sought Dale on a consumer matter with my mortgage company. I contacted him on the recommendation of another lawyer. Dale talked me into not joining a class action lawsuit in which I would have received $200. He agreed to take my case so I opted out of class action suit. Well as soon as I opted out and notified the person in charge of the class action suit that I was opting out of it, Dale Pittman stopped talking to me and never returned my calls or responded to my emails again. I left messages with his assistant and he never called me. Did not respond to emails. Did not have the decency to refer me to someone else if he had changed his mind about my case. I think he is unprofessional for doing this to me.

I found myself in an unfortunate situation years ago and a friend researched and found Mr. Pittman's law firm. I contacted Mr. Pittman and he took my case after listening to my story. He initiated my case without full payment up front. Long story short, I let the matter fall by the wayside but it came back to haunt me years later. Mr. Pittman picked right up where he left off and resolved my legal matter in a professional and expeditious manner. He and his assistant Karen were always a phone call or email away with any questions I had. Their perseverance paid off and my case was resolved in my favor. I would highly recommend Mr. Pittman.

I know there are a lot of bad reviews on here. However, I want to say thank you to BrownGreer. I waited almost a year for my lien resolution in regards to paying insurance back from my settlement. It was worth the wait. They really went to bat for me. My insurance company wanted a lot more than what they received. BrownGreer really did go through every medical appointment I've ever been to since my incident. They got me an amazing outcome. I was impatient throughout this process, but...I kept my cool, and had faith for the best possible outcome. Thank you so much BrownGreer!! I am so grateful for the meticulous work and dedication you all gave me! :)

I was using Watts & Guerra who are somehow linked to this firm. They’re both hot garbage and unprofessional. They hire and fire attorneys so many times I have 50+ emails from random people and firms using different names. It’s all the same clowns just looking for ways to pocket money in the most shady and shameless way possible.

This guy is as sleazy as they come so if you need that type of lawyer, this guys for you. This guy is a piece of work, when due to a miscommunication and a mistake on my part, he thought I was on the same team, and proceeded to tell me the item on my credit was a mistake, and while we were on the phone he said, "if you look now, it's off your record." Long story short, we were not on the same team, and even though he heard my life story, agreed with the facts, removed the item from my credit, and then had the audacity, to put it back onto my report even though he told me it didn't belong in the 1st place, and that it was removed. Who does that? How is that legal?

What a Class Action Lawyer Can Do for You

A class action lawyer specializes in representing groups of individuals who have suffered similar harm or injury due to the actions of a company, organization, or government entity. These lawyers file lawsuits on behalf of a large group (the "class") of individuals, seeking compensation or relief for damages caused by things like defective products, environmental harm, consumer fraud, or employment violations. Class action lawyers are skilled in managing complex legal processes that involve numerous plaintiffs and large-scale legal claims.

If you’ve been harmed by a product, service, or corporate action that also affected many others, a class action lawyer can help you join or initiate a collective lawsuit to seek justice and compensation.

When Should I Hire a Class Action Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a class action lawyer if you and a group of people have experienced harm or damages under similar circumstances. Common scenarios include:

  • Defective products: If a product you purchased caused injury, illness, or other harm due to a defect, a class action lawyer can help you join a lawsuit against the manufacturer or retailer.
  • Consumer fraud: If a company has misled consumers through false advertising, deceptive business practices, or scams, a class action lawsuit can be filed to seek compensation on behalf of all affected customers.
  • Employment violations: If your employer has violated labor laws - such as failing to pay overtime, denying benefits, or enforcing discriminatory policies - a class action lawyer can represent a group of employees seeking justice.
  • Data breaches: If a company’s negligence led to a data breach that compromised your personal information, you may be able to join a class action lawsuit seeking compensation for the breach.
  • Environmental damage: If you or your community has been harmed by environmental hazards, such as pollution or toxic waste, a class action lawyer can file a collective lawsuit against the responsible party.
  • Unfair financial practices: If a bank, lender, or credit card company engaged in fraudulent or illegal financial practices, a class action lawyer can help a group of consumers recover losses.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process helps ensure that you meet legal deadlines and that your case is properly prepared for a potential class action lawsuit.

What Does a Class Action Lawyer Do?

A class action lawyer provides a range of legal services to represent large groups of individuals in lawsuits. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Investigating the claim: The lawyer investigates the facts of the case, including gathering evidence of harm, identifying potential plaintiffs, and determining whether a class action lawsuit is the best course of action.
  • Filing the lawsuit: The lawyer files the class action lawsuit on behalf of the named plaintiffs (the representative plaintiffs) and others who have experienced similar harm.
  • Class certification: One of the first steps in a class action is getting the court to certify the case as a class action. The lawyer will argue that the case meets the legal requirements for certification, such as the number of plaintiffs and commonality of harm.
  • Communicating with plaintiffs: Class action lawyers keep plaintiffs informed throughout the process, including notifying potential class members about the lawsuit and giving them the opportunity to join the case.
  • Negotiating settlements: Many class action lawsuits are resolved through settlements before going to trial. The lawyer will negotiate with the defendant to reach a settlement that compensates the class for their losses.
  • Representing the class in court: If the case goes to trial, the lawyer will represent the entire class, presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and arguing for the plaintiffs.
  • Managing claims distribution: Once a settlement or verdict is reached, the lawyer helps manage the process of distributing compensation to class members, ensuring that all eligible plaintiffs receive their share of the award.

How Are Class Action Lawyers Paid?

Class action lawyers are typically paid on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if the class action lawsuit is successful. Here’s how their payment structure generally works:

  • Contingency fee: Class action lawyers usually take a percentage of the settlement or judgment as their fee. This percentage typically ranges from 25% to 40%, depending on the complexity of the case and the amount of work involved.
  • No upfront fees: You generally won’t have to pay any fees upfront. The lawyer covers the costs of the lawsuit, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, and court costs, and is reimbursed from the settlement or award.
  • Court approval of fees: In class action cases, the court must approve the lawyer’s fee to ensure that it is reasonable. This helps protect class members from paying excessive legal fees.

Always discuss fee arrangements with your lawyer at the outset to understand how much they will be paid if the lawsuit is successful.

How Much Does a Class Action Lawyer Cost?

Class action lawyers generally work on contingency, meaning they don’t get paid unless the lawsuit is successful. Here’s a breakdown of potential costs:

  • Contingency fee: Class action lawyers typically charge between 25% and 40% of the settlement or judgment. For example, if the lawsuit settles for $10 million and the lawyer’s fee is 30%, the lawyer would receive $3 million, and the remaining $7 million would be distributed to the class members.
  • Court costs and expenses: In addition to the contingency fee, the lawyer will deduct the costs associated with the lawsuit, such as court filing fees, expert witness fees, and investigation costs. These costs are usually reimbursed from the settlement or award.
  • No cost if the case is lost: If the class action lawsuit is unsuccessful, you typically won’t owe any legal fees or costs. The lawyer assumes the financial risk of the case.

It’s important to discuss potential costs and fee structures with your lawyer before the case proceeds to ensure transparency and avoid any surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Class Action Lawyer

Before hiring a class action lawyer, you should ask key questions to ensure they have the experience and skills needed to handle your case effectively. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with class action lawsuits?
Ensure the lawyer has a successful track record of handling class action cases, particularly in the area of law relevant to your case (e.g., consumer fraud, employment, defective products).
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Confirm that the lawyer charges a contingency fee, and ask for a detailed explanation of what percentage they charge and how expenses will be handled.
  3. What are the chances of success in my case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of your case and the likelihood of certification as a class action.
  4. How long will the process take?
Class action lawsuits can take time to resolve, so ask the lawyer how long they expect the case to last, from certification to settlement or trial.
  5. Will I need to appear in court?
Ask if your participation will be required in court or whether the lawyer will handle most aspects of the case on behalf of the class.
  6. What is the expected settlement or recovery?
Ask about potential outcomes, including the expected settlement or damages, and how compensation will be distributed among class members.
  7. What happens if the case is lost?
Confirm that you won’t owe any legal fees or expenses if the case is unsuccessful.

How to Check the Credibility of a Class Action Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable class action lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and experience:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice law and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for class action experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in class action cases and have successfully handled cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate in class action lawsuits.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have been involved in class action cases.
  • Check for certifications or memberships: Membership in organizations like the American Association for Justice (AAJ) or specific class action sections can indicate the lawyer’s expertise in handling large-scale litigation.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a class action lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant information and documents. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Details of the harm you’ve experienced: Provide a clear explanation of the harm or damages you’ve suffered, whether it’s a defective product, financial loss, or harm due to employment violations.
  • Evidence of the issue: Bring any documents, emails, receipts, contracts, or photos that support your claim. If others have experienced the same harm, gather their testimonies or contact information if possible.
  • Information about the responsible party: If you know which company, organization, or government entity is responsible, bring any information you have about them, including names, addresses, or prior legal actions.
  • Questions about the process: Prepare a list of questions about the class action process, your potential role in the lawsuit, and what you can expect in terms of outcomes and timelines.
  • Contact information for other potential class members (if available): If you know others who have been similarly affected, provide their contact information so the lawyer can assess whether they may join the class action.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer evaluate your case effectively and provide the best legal guidance for pursuing a class action lawsuit.
