My brother was hit in the of his truck on duty. The defendant and the cop in charge of reporting the crime to the court have tried to intimidate and blame my brother to be at fault of the incident. Sammy Kim, Tax Attorney & here legal assistant, Anna, were extremely responsive, knowledgeable and were able to walk me through a complex set of Tax, bank and even work-related issues. Everything was done rapidly and thoroughly to resolution.
I don’t spend a lot of time writing reviews, but I felt compelled in this situation. I had no idea how complex my case was going to be. Sammy Kim took the time to understand the details, laid out a plan and did a great job helping make sure I navigated through complex legal and financial challenges. Her office’s Korean knowledge helped me with issues that had potential US and Korean tax implications.
Not only did they help me with the case, but Sammy and Anna also took the time to help me with advice in areas that went beyond the immediate case to make sure things went as smoothly as possible. I was the victim of identity theft. Someone forged my signature on loan documents. The identity thief stopped making payments on the loan shortly after the account was opened. The fraudulent loan accounts appeared on my credit reports. As a result, I could not refinance my home and credit limits on my existing accounts were being reduced. I sent numerous letters to the credit reporting agencies and the banks with limited success. I was ultimately forced to file a federal lawsuit to protect my rights, my credit and my good name. I was able to get the fraudulent accounts removed from my credit reports and settled my case before trial. I signed separate settlement agreements with each named defendant. The terms and amounts of each settlement agreement are confidential.
John helped me through the entire process. He also took my case on a contingency fee basis. I did not have to pay any money out-of-pocket.
John was a beacon of light in a very dark time of not knowing and I would recommend him and use him again if needed.

An identity thief stole my identity and used my name and credit to purchase a house that belonged to his ex-wife. The identity thief only made a few payments on the property and let it go into foreclosure. The foreclosure appeared on my credit report as well as a homeowners association judgment for past due HOA fees related to the property. Needless to say, my credit scores were low and obtaining credit was nearly impossible. I did not know where to turn until I was referred to John Bazaz. He was able to walk me through the entire process. He was able to get the judgment vacated in state court. He then helped me dispute the foreclosure and judgment that still appeared on my credit reports. When the credit reporting agencies and the bank refused to delete the inaccurate accounts, he filed a federal lawsuit against them. John was able to get the foreclosure and judgment accounts removed from my credit reports. We settled with each defendant separately before trial. The terms and amounts are confidential. As an added bonus, John took my federal case on a contingency fee basis. He was paid only after I was paid. I strongly encourage you to contact John if you are the victim of identity theft.

My case was a somewhat complex domestic situation, a misdemeanor charge that could have resulted in jail time. During my first consultation, Senator Surovell listened to my concerns, patiently answered all of my questions, and made suggestions that helped my case. In the intervening months between the charge and my trial, Scott promptly responded to any questions or concerns that came up. Being charged with any crime is scary, and you need a well-informed lawyer to navigate the murky, sometimes treacherous territory of our criminal justice system. I knew that Senator Surovell had a reputation as one of the best defense lawyers in Fairfax County. And he lived up to that reputation Thanks to his skillful handling of my case, the charges were dropped. I was charged with a DWI and Civil Refusal back in February and was terrified of the consequences a conviction would entail. Fortunately, a friend referred me to Scott Surovell who agreed to represent me and set a plan in action from our very first call. He helped me understand how the process would take place and our strategy for my defense. As my Court date approached, we continued once before finally going before the Arlington County General District Court. The State Prosecutor had not offered any plea deals so it was to go to trial.
Scott was a masterful trial attorney. It was impressive to watch him work and gave me confidence we would come out with a positive ruling. After he dismantled the Prosecution, it was agreed that the Charge would be reduced to Reckless Driving and the Commonwealth would Motion to Nolle Prosequi the Refusal Charge. This was a HUGE relief. I cannot thank Scott enough for his work on my case and would recommend him to anyone seeking a Defense Attorney.
