I've know max for a number of years. Most of which were spent in a non professional manner as friends, and on stages as members of a band. When I came to a point where I needed some legal representation and advice, I naturally turned to Max. Although I expected his knowledge and service to be top notch, I was blown away by his professionalism and approach. As working with people who have ties outside of any professional matter can sometimes lead to less comprehensive dialogue, and a more laid back style of communication and commitment, Max and I walked through the details of the work I needed done, laid out a time line of what was needed to complete my request and very quickly registered the final work. I felt as if I had "lucked out" on finding good representation, and I feel this way totally independently of our personal friendship. I would absolutely recommend Maxwell Felsheim to anybody looking for knowledgeable, personable, representation or even a good saxophone player for that matter!

Thomas knew his material and was able to effectively explain the patenting process to me so that I felt less intimidated by the process. He was always available when I phoned him and was more than willing to answer questions. He always provided me with an accurate quote of all cost so that there were no surprises. Would definitely recommend him to anyone wanting patent and trademark work done.

In May of 2015, I hired Hassan Sahouani, PhD, J.D. to file paperwork for Intellectual property  and limited liability registration for my new business. It was completed that same month. Additionally, the symbol with name for my business was submitted in May 2015 for consideration to the US Patent and Trademark Office for trademark registration. The trademark was approved and certificate of registration received January 2016. Mr. Sanouani walked me through the process step by step, as well as, supplying supportive documentation (when applicable) expeditiously. There were no surprises and everything went as expected. Mr. Sanouani is tenacious, professional, reliable, accessible and personable. He provides relevant information for your unique situation, emphasizing proper steps to take for securing your business, name and products. He has definitely been a pleasure to work with. Absolutely, I would refer him to others for legal advice/assistance!

Despite their website stating they handle cases that include Economical Damages that include, -Lost wages from missed time at work -Loss of earning capacity -Property damage, such as damage to your vehicle in the crash And Non-Economic Damages that include, -Emotional issues (stress, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, etc.) -Humiliation I guess, according to the representative I spoke to, that information is false. I wasnt even given a chance to speak to a lawyer despite mentioning them being listed on their website. She was just rude and repeated her statement. If you're looking for a lawyer regarding those damages, don't bother calling these guys. You'll only get frustrated.

I applied for the Human Resources Assistant position with Stinson, LLP in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in August 2024. I was called the next day after applying via their online job application on their website. My initial telephone interview was with Chelsea L. Clennan, Director of Human Resources for Stinson, LLP, who's located in their Wichita, Kansas office. Chelsea was immediately complimenting me, telling me that any employer would be lucky to have me, that my skillsets are perfect for the role, that they would move quick for me in the recruitment process, they would make same-day job offers if needed-- immediately raising red flags for me that she was not a genuine person. She immediately moved me on to the second and final stage of the hiring process: the final interview with the hiring manager, the HR manager of the Minneapolis office-- both of whom reported to Chelsea. My suspicions of Chelsea would prove correct when, all the sudden, after letting her know after my final interview on Friday afternoon that I did have another offer, which I'd received the day prior, Chelsea responded to my email quickly, letting me know her and her hiring team would meet on Monday. In her email to me, which I've attached, she even told me her team considered me a top candidate. Monday came and went-- nothing, crickets. Tuesday, I received the attached screen shot email, letting me know they'd meet later that day. I replied, thanked her for keeping me in the loop, even further expressing my gratitude for keeping in touch with me and making me feel respected and valued. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday -- absolute radio silence from Chelsea L. Clennan. I sent a polite follow up email Friday afternoon-- again, I had been ghosted. Not a single reply or word from Chelsea or her team ever since -- despite her shtick of "you're a top candidate" and "we move quickly." I shudder to think how Stinson, LLP employees -- whether in Minneapolis or Kansas -- are treated if Chelsea treated a job applicant -- me -- with what I felt like was pure garbage and disrespect. Personally, I do not recommend Stinson as a place to work based on my experience as a job candidate and how I feel I was treated. When people like the human resources director show you their true colors-- believe them.

I walked in alone to a hearing riddled with anxiety and uncertainty, with no legal representation. Not knowing what was going to be my outcome, especially over a situation that should not have even been brought to a level where court would have been involved, I requested a court appointed attorney. I have never lucked out so much in my entire life than I did that day. Stinson Law firm just so happened to be providing pro bono work that morning and took my case. The two attorneys I worked with not only helped me feel validated in my disbelief that I was even there, but also were the most knowledgeable powerhouse of representation I could have ever asked for. If I were to sum it all up in 3 reasons why I would recommend them to anyone, it would be: Top notch negotiation skills, an unmatched knowledge of the law surrounding my scenario, and for being the most personable, down to earth people, to have the pleasure of working with.

I trusted them because I trusted a certain attorney in the firm. I absolutely lost everything I owned! Including my bed and everything else during their representation during covid. Disregarded the law or my personal human rights. Not to mention my minor child. No law was observed or utilizedto defendme.. Not sure why? I was charged over $30,000 for the pleasure. I truly wish the bar association would look into this complete disregard of human rights. To follow it up... still had trust in Ben. He has a great salesmanship. Completely makes you believe he cared. A slam dunk case of conning the elderly during a storm . Turned into an epic loss. I personally collected all of the nails that where tossed off my parents roof. Doctored picture dates and lack of concern by the law firm. Resulted in my parents getting conned yet again! I truly need to pursue a lawsuit against my attorney for neglect. I haven't yet. Out of emotional respect for Ben. That respect was another missreprention he created for himself. Honest people tend to believe people are honest. That is why we will never succeed. The cons will always win with that mentality. My evidence and documented proof needs to go to the attorney General. That is the only way crooks and con men ever are held accountable! BTW... shame on you and I'm sorry for your children. We owe them better!

The law office avoids contact with participating parties of probate cases. When basic tenants of trust and respect are lost, no one makes any attempt to correct or reverse course. The senior partnership professionals (that’s what they are called, but don’t act the role) do not engage and make situations right. They circumvent answers to basic questions and fiduciary responsibility to all parties of probate. Mr. Jeremy Berg refuses to see through basic matters of probate settlement and the entire firm purposely drags out finality, especially if your not one of their “good ole boys” or prominent members of citizenship in the area

A rare, unfortunate medical injury incident happened to me and I felt very alone, disappointed, and frustrated after calling many different law offices in my state and being turned away. I turned to a Facebook group to air my grievance & seek comfort in a support group. Someone responded with an ad they had seen where OFT Law was seeking anyone who had been affected by my issue. Bart responded to my email immediately and was comforting, helpful and very professional. Everything about this firm’s representation was flawless. Everyone I interacted with were perfect communicators who made sure my husband and I understood every step of the process. I highly recommend trusting these amazing folks with legal counsel. The outcome of our situation greatly exceeded our expectations. Thank you all so much!

What a Copyright Lawyer Can Do for You

A copyright lawyer specializes in helping individuals and businesses protect their creative works by navigating the complexities of copyright law. They assist with registering copyrights, enforcing rights against infringement, drafting licensing agreements, and advising on the fair use of copyrighted material. Whether you're an author, artist, musician, software developer, or content creator, a copyright lawyer can help ensure your intellectual property is legally protected and monetized appropriately.

When Should I Hire a Copyright Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a copyright lawyer in the following situations:

  • Registering a copyright: While copyright protection exists upon the creation of an original work, registering your copyright with the U.S. Copyright Office provides legal advantages, such as the ability to file a lawsuit for infringement and eligibility for statutory damages and attorney's fees.
  • Enforcing your rights: If someone is using your work without permission, a lawyer can help you enforce your rights by sending cease and desist letters, negotiating settlements, or filing infringement lawsuits.
  • Defending against infringement claims: If you're accused of infringing someone else's copyright, a lawyer can defend you by assessing the validity of the claim and representing you in negotiations or court proceedings.
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts: When creating licensing agreements, work-for-hire agreements, or transferring ownership of a copyright, a lawyer can ensure the terms are legally sound and protect your interests.
  • Fair use assessment: If you plan to use copyrighted material under the fair use doctrine, a lawyer can evaluate the risks and advise on compliance to prevent potential legal issues.
  • International copyright concerns: If you need to protect your work internationally, a lawyer can guide you through the process of securing rights in other countries and navigating international treaties.

What Does a Copyright Lawyer Do?

A copyright lawyer provides a range of legal services related to the creation, protection, and enforcement of copyrighted works:

  • Copyright registration: Assist in preparing and filing applications with the U.S. Copyright Office, ensuring all legal requirements are met for successful registration.
  • Legal advice on protection strategies: Offer guidance on how to safeguard your work, including the best practices for documentation and disclosure.
  • Drafting and negotiating agreements: Prepare contracts such as licensing agreements, assignments, and work-for-hire agreements to monetize your work while protecting your rights.
  • Enforcement actions: Take legal steps against infringers, including sending cease and desist letters, negotiating settlements, and litigating infringement cases.
  • Defense against infringement claims: Represent you if accused of infringement, developing defense strategies and handling negotiations or court proceedings.
  • Fair use evaluation: Analyze whether your intended use of copyrighted material qualifies as fair use under the law, reducing the risk of infringement.
  • International protection: Advise on securing copyright protection abroad and complying with international intellectual property laws and treaties.

How Are Copyright Lawyers Paid?

Copyright lawyers typically charge for their services in the following ways:

  • Hourly rate: Many lawyers bill by the hour, with rates ranging from $200 to $600 or more, depending on experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For straightforward tasks like filing a copyright application or drafting a simple contract, some lawyers offer flat fees, which provide cost predictability.
  • Retainer: For ongoing services, a lawyer may require a retainer - a lump sum deposited in advance - against which hourly fees are charged.
  • Contingency fee: In some infringement cases, especially those involving significant damages, a lawyer may work on a contingency basis, receiving a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or judgment.

It's important to discuss payment arrangements upfront to understand the total cost and billing practices.

How Much Does a Copyright Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a copyright lawyer varies based on the complexity of your needs:

  • Copyright registration: Legal fees for preparing and filing a copyright application typically range from $250 to $1,000, plus U.S. Copyright Office filing fees (which are $45 to $85 per application as of 2024).
