Lauren and the whole team at Waypoint were extremely patient and knowledgeable during the process of applying for and getting approval for Medicaid for my ill mother. At times the process was challenging but Lauren had such a unique ability to make it easier on the whole family. We definitely recommend her and the Waypoint team.

Everything was done through email back and forth. He was always quick to respond to emails or give me a quick call if need be. Very thorough and fast. I had an excellent experience and would hire again and recommend. My patent went through after the first office action and I was pleased to say my patent was issued within 6 months of applying. I had everything laid out and did my homework on patents before hiring and it made the process smooth and quick.

Walter made a seemingly difficult patent process very streamlined and stress free. He is knowledgeable and gave us very good advice and counsel. He was super responsive to any inquiry and was able to complete and file our design and utility patent application for us. We have successfully received the design patent and awaiting the utility patent. Highly recommend Walter!

I have known Rachel as not only an attorney, but also as a friend, since our young, fledgling trademark attorney days back in the 2000s. I have witnessed her grow as an attorney in a large law firm environment, and now as a solo attorney, where she is sure to thrive and excel. Rachel is extremely conscientious and detail-oriented. She knows how to ask the right questions to dig deeper into issues. Rachel is not only a legal professional, but she has an innate business acumen that can be a bit challenging to find with most lawyers. I feel so fortunate to have Rachel on my side as not only my friend, but also a colleague. I certainly hope we're never on opposite sides of the "v"!

I've used Toya Gavin for various legal issues varying from helping with small business formation to incidents in court where I was a defendant. Toya has always proven her expertise & skill, displayed with an uncanny prowess that is needed in the court of law. For example, I was unfairly prosecuted for violating a conditional discharge for a traffic matter. Toya first reassured me of my rights, sticking to the facts to comfort me in my position as the defendant. She then used her contacts to skillfully build a solid defense in efforts to submit a motion that would be favorable in my regard. Her quick thinking and attentiveness is the reason that I was able to prove my innocence, and her defense in my honor was nothing short of impeccable. I highly recommend Toya in any matter where a truly skilled professional is needed. You won't be disappointed, but more importantly, you will be fought for in a way that let's opponent know that you mean business.

I work the overnight shift, so it would make sense to email an attorney to see whether I have a case or not! I briefly explain what happened, I received a call, text, voice mail from spencer sundusky, stating that he wants to talk to me,I responded back but no answer, so u called the office, and a lady said he'd left,so she asked me questions and I said I submitted my statement and just wanted to know if I have a case?she rudely replied I don't have your email and started asking me, so I answered, but I hate repeating myself and I already said what I had to say, then she asked how old I am????I lost it, sorry, but I just can't continue. She told me spencer is learning to be a lawyer and only works during the day, so I texted him and he never responded back?! Is this how you treat your customers, that is very unproffessional, if your lawyers are so busy that they can't say yes or no about your inquiry, then they should seek another profession!!!! Days later,an email, can't take your case right no,again from a secretary not lawyer!!!

I do not recommend this firm. As seniors, we needed a will - a simple will. We went to T. Dengler who, as an estate lawyer, was trusted to advise us properly. A few simple questions turned into a Trust that we did not understand nor did we ask for and we told him so. He gave us a brief explanation and we told him we still didn't understand - he encouraged us to sign. Also, although we were quoted a price for this will, the Trust fees were never discussed or mentioned. Asking him how much he replied he had to "figure it out". We were distressed and sleepless worrying how much this would cost. I will state that this was settled after our complaint but now we have to start over and this has left us to distrust lawyers, Do your homework, you can get more info from Google.

Angela Scafuri, I was referred to her by a retiring attorney. It was the best possible turn of events for me. She listened attentively and non-judgmentally to my issue and to my hesitations. Her responses showed that she immediately understood the issue and me. Angela presented insightful points that I need to know even before we formally began. She tenaciously defended my interests even as I faltered. Low pressure with me but unrelenting aggressive with my Ex. So much so that she was referred to as the “shark”. I knew I needed a lawyer. I didn’t realize I how much I needed a “defender”. Luckily, I had followed the reference to her.

I hired Ms. Marcolini as my divorce attorney and terminated her 2 months later. She almost costed me my case, leaving me no choice but having to find another attorney to represent me. Ms. Marcolini did not file motions that were needed and wasted time over the phone trying to reach verbal agreements- which of course were never court ordered. On top of not doing her job, she had errors in her billing (documented wrong amounts I paid), charged me $500 to cancel her services and an initial consultation fee which states "free" on her website. I do not recommend at all.

What a Copyright Lawyer Can Do for You

A copyright lawyer specializes in helping individuals and businesses protect their creative works by navigating the complexities of copyright law. They assist with registering copyrights, enforcing rights against infringement, drafting licensing agreements, and advising on the fair use of copyrighted material. Whether you're an author, artist, musician, software developer, or content creator, a copyright lawyer can help ensure your intellectual property is legally protected and monetized appropriately.

When Should I Hire a Copyright Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a copyright lawyer in the following situations:

  • Registering a copyright: While copyright protection exists upon the creation of an original work, registering your copyright with the U.S. Copyright Office provides legal advantages, such as the ability to file a lawsuit for infringement and eligibility for statutory damages and attorney's fees.
  • Enforcing your rights: If someone is using your work without permission, a lawyer can help you enforce your rights by sending cease and desist letters, negotiating settlements, or filing infringement lawsuits.
  • Defending against infringement claims: If you're accused of infringing someone else's copyright, a lawyer can defend you by assessing the validity of the claim and representing you in negotiations or court proceedings.
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts: When creating licensing agreements, work-for-hire agreements, or transferring ownership of a copyright, a lawyer can ensure the terms are legally sound and protect your interests.
  • Fair use assessment: If you plan to use copyrighted material under the fair use doctrine, a lawyer can evaluate the risks and advise on compliance to prevent potential legal issues.
  • International copyright concerns: If you need to protect your work internationally, a lawyer can guide you through the process of securing rights in other countries and navigating international treaties.

What Does a Copyright Lawyer Do?

A copyright lawyer provides a range of legal services related to the creation, protection, and enforcement of copyrighted works:

  • Copyright registration: Assist in preparing and filing applications with the U.S. Copyright Office, ensuring all legal requirements are met for successful registration.
  • Legal advice on protection strategies: Offer guidance on how to safeguard your work, including the best practices for documentation and disclosure.
  • Drafting and negotiating agreements: Prepare contracts such as licensing agreements, assignments, and work-for-hire agreements to monetize your work while protecting your rights.
  • Enforcement actions: Take legal steps against infringers, including sending cease and desist letters, negotiating settlements, and litigating infringement cases.
  • Defense against infringement claims: Represent you if accused of infringement, developing defense strategies and handling negotiations or court proceedings.
  • Fair use evaluation: Analyze whether your intended use of copyrighted material qualifies as fair use under the law, reducing the risk of infringement.
  • International protection: Advise on securing copyright protection abroad and complying with international intellectual property laws and treaties.

How Are Copyright Lawyers Paid?

Copyright lawyers typically charge for their services in the following ways:

  • Hourly rate: Many lawyers bill by the hour, with rates ranging from $200 to $600 or more, depending on experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For straightforward tasks like filing a copyright application or drafting a simple contract, some lawyers offer flat fees, which provide cost predictability.
  • Retainer: For ongoing services, a lawyer may require a retainer - a lump sum deposited in advance - against which hourly fees are charged.
  • Contingency fee: In some infringement cases, especially those involving significant damages, a lawyer may work on a contingency basis, receiving a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or judgment.

It's important to discuss payment arrangements upfront to understand the total cost and billing practices.

  • Evidence of creation: Documentation that proves when and how you created the work, such as drafts, timestamps, or metadata.
  • Existing agreements: Any contracts, licensing agreements, or previous registrations related to your work.
  • Infringement evidence (if applicable): If someone is infringing your copyright, bring evidence like copies of the infringing material, URLs, screenshots, or witness statements.
