Was married for 10 years to an abusive (in every way) man. I was scared to leave because he had threatened to take all my assets. Shana was an absolute shark in the courtroom and exposed my ex husband for the lying, lazy, con man he was. The judge ruled 60/40 in my favor, almost unheard of in Alaska, a 50/50 state.
The divorce did take 757 days and it's going to take a lot of healing, but at least most of my assets were protected. Word of advice to anyone considering marriage - get a pre-nup...all of this might have been avoided. I should have run when he refused to sign one. Hindsight in 20/20, but if you get to the point that I did, you better have Shana Theiler in your corner.

I don't know yet if I will need Mr. Joyner beyond the consultation, but he did provide clarity to me and the information I needed to weigh my options. I was mildly surprised to have someone pick up the line and answer the phone after calling around, and ..... The person I spoke with was very patient, considerant and gave me all the time and feedback I could have asked for...Down side is that the wait time of consultation .... 30 days! I contacted a law firm and asked for an in-person consultation, but they wanted me to pay a large fee for a phone consultation instead. Since when do we discuss legal matters over the phone? When I requested an in-person meeting, they sent me an email referring me to the Alaska Bar. I can’t help but feel that if my name were Paul Smith, the response would have been different.

Following my arrest I didn’t know what to do or where to look for legal help. I called many lawyers and none were of help or would even talk to me. I consulted Mr. Christie for legal advice because the attorney I had on retainer was not capable of handling my complicated cases and I had reached out to a couple of other attorneys who declined to take my case due to the complex nature. Mr. Christie agreed to take my case and was immediately able to make progress. He crafted a plan to resolve my cases to the best possible outcome. There were hurdles along the way and Mr. Christie was able to work through him using astute legal knowledge and his brilliant understanding of the Alaska Court System. I can't imagine where I would be had I not contacted Mr. Christie and I only wish I would have done so earlier. He is intelligent and well spoken and he truly cares. This review is long overdue. I know it will make Michael's day when she sees it <3. My CASES (yes plural) were complicated and Michaela and Anastasia handled all my mood swings like true champs. I endured two personal injury incidents within a short period of time. To make things even more complicated, I had preexisting conditions and I was a full time Uber driver. It wasn't easy getting all that was due to me but Michaela came through. There were moments that I lost hope. I'm grateful to this team for setting proper expectations with me so I didn't get my hopes too high. I would rather not expect something and be surprised, then to expect it and not get it. I ended up being pleasantly surprised. For me, my experience with Kelly and Canterbury reinforced the concept of "trust the process". I didn't always trust the process...but you should. When I got a DUI a year and a half ago, I was devastated. Waking up the next day, I felt more down on myself than I ever had before. Not knowing what to do, I picked up my phone and started searching for a lawyer. I left messages with several possibilities, but it was a Saturday, and I didn’t expect to hear back right away. August Petropolous was the only one who called me back, even though he was at a wedding and didn’t have much time to talk. He still took the time to listen to me, took down some details, and spent more time than I ever expected reassuring me that everything was going to be okay. It's clear he genuinely cares about his clients.
Throughout the entire process, August maintained this level of communication and care. He felt more like a friend who was looking out for my best interests than just a lawyer doing his job. My experience with working with Robin can be summarized in three words: "professional, resourceful and successful." In searching for a lawyer, Ms. Schmid stood out to me the most in that, rather than by beating the bush with gray areas and maybes, she was very upfront with a lot of the topics regarding my situation. My questions were answered thoroughly and my fears were either rationalized or diminished thanks to her extensive knowledge and experience.
I hired Robin to help me combat a false-rape allegation, during which, I suffered from severe anxiety and depression. It was one of those "you are guilty til proven innocent" topics which made it very hard to reach out to anyone for help. My previous experiences with lawyers in regards to this have been very cutthroat and robotic but Robin is definitely a diamond in the rough. She was very kind but also firm and helped me fight the legal battle as well as the demons that plagued me during that trying time. She definitely took the time to reach out to me, and made me understand why something like this would happen and helped me calm down in order to prevent myself from making a mistake during the case; something that other lawyers are severely lacking in my opinion. Do not mistake that kindness for something that will hinder her however, Ms Schmid is very fierce and will not hesitate to utilize all of her vast resources to guarantee you that you're getting your money's worth. She used her connections to get the case dropped before it even got any steam rolling, and ultimately I was able to get off without a blemish on my record.

After a consultation, Mike agreed to take on my case. Besides being a top rate human being, its hard to find representation in the courtroom better than Mr Kramer.
