Jonathan Scott Smith is the most professional and knowledgeable attorney I have ever met. After a few months of research, I drove almost an hour to ask him to take a case previously held by another attorney. I knew after our first meeting he was the only person that I would trust going forward. The case was capped by my coverage and full of complications. Not only did he take my case, but he also won my case! He counseled me throughout, made it very convenient, fought for me no matter what came our way, even during Covid, and stood his ground. I was consistently kept in the loop of information and prepared for deposition and settlement. He was always 10 steps ahead and prepared for everything, even the unexpected which did arise. His confidence and knowledge gave me confidence when speaking in settlement. Linda in the office is amazing! She kept me informed and answered my questions, along with making me feel better on even my worst and most painful days. I was a victim of a slip and trip accident at a prominent casino. 4 other firms turned down my case. Mr. Smith was my last chance. I am glad I made the call to him when I did. He fully explained that cases like this are a hard win, because the property has to accept liability. He took on my case and was diligent with acquiring all document from my medical providers. This was a long case held up by my very own medical providers, but Mr. Smith persevered and kept after what was needed. All of this while he experienced office staff changes, various paralegals errors combined with a strong caseload of his own. The fruit of the tree came to pass, he secured me a settlement that exceeded my minimum acceptable settlement.... SIGNIFICANTLY.. exceeded. I would recommend this firm and Johnathan Smith to anyone who feels they need a real advocate and someone who will do the work for you.

My girlfriend and I got involved in a domestic violence case a couple of months ago.
We both were foreigners and have no such experience before on how to find a good attorney and how to win the trial.
After some research online and word of mouth, we decided to trust AVVO and trust David.
David was a helpful listener and man of wisdom. He can always point out the key points of our case.
Finally he convinced the state of attorney office that everything was just a misunderstanding and they dismissed the case then.

I was seriously injured in a severe car accident last September. Jennifer Matthews Is a phenomenal Lawyer. She worked with me on my Traffic (DUI ) case, and helped guide me every step of the way. She was very patience and understanding of what was a very sensitive case for me (Due to my secret clearance and military background ) . I was worried, and nervous about what was going to happen to me, and I also thought it was going to hurt my career. Jennifer was very discreet while working on my case, which was very reassuring.
Before I decided to look her up, I visited quite a few lawyers to talk about my case, and needless to say they were less than helpful. Most of them made me feel more like a number than they actually cared. I was running low on time and I went to go this one lawyer who was going to have me just take the quick and easy way out (take a deal / Plea), and was going to charge me an astronomical amount to do so. Needless to say I was thinking about just representing myself that is until I came across Jennifer Matthews name on a review website. I was going to give one last person a try, because it was starting to become draining seeing so many people and explaining the case. I started by giving her a call and talking to her on the phone, I already within 5 minutes of talking to her felt a little more at ease. To be honest I was still skeptical though, most of the people that I spoke with on the phone sounded nice and like they cared... at first. I went to meet her in person (still skeptical and nervous) and as she introduced herself and I sat down I felt more comfortable than I did with any of the other people I talked to. We reviewed my case together and discussed what my options were at that time, and what I needed to do to get the case moving forward. She was straight forwarded with me from the start. She didn’t sugarcoat anything, and she put everything on the table. I knew everything from our first meeting, which was nice. I never felt like she was going leave me hanging or charge me extra later. I really liked how she talked to me as a person, not belittling me or treating me different because of my case. I can honestly say I trusted her.
As my court date came closer, she kept in touch on a regular bases and making sure we had everything we needed for the case. I never felt unprepared nor unimportant. The day of the trial she met me at the courthouse where she was fully prepared for the case. She knew what she was doing. She kept in contact with the court the whole time. Oh and not to mention her attention to detail, she found some inconsistencies in the reports on my case, which was for my benefit. Needless to say I would consider my case a huge win and I don’t think it would have ended the way it did with any other person by my side.
I’m sure this goes without saying I would most certainly recommend Jennifer to anyone who needs an amazing defense lawyer. She will be by your side every step of the way, and will not leave you hanging. She is the best, and It would be in anyone’s best interest that is in need of help to look her up.

My son was arrested for some pretty serious charges. I had never had to deal with anything like that before and didn't know where to begin. A friend who had Jennifer for a DUI recommended her. She was amazing! She helped us find a bail bondsman in the middle of the night. Met with us as soon as he was released. She really listened to us and took an immediate interest in the case. She took all the time necessary to explain the process, the court system, everything until we felt comfortable. She is serous top notch and I don't know how we would have gotten through that nightmare without her! Absolutely recommend!

Bonnie helped me with a misdemeanor offense in 2010. It was a petty first offense and I got off with community service and a small fine. Her fee was reasonable and although she is not normally a criminal defense lawyer she knew her stuff and saw me through to the end with a positive outcome. She followed up and helped me expunge the record. She is a meticulous, helpful attorney who genuinely cares.

We were introduced to Ms Kirby in traffic court when the judge asked her to consult with my son who represented himself in a speeding ticket case. After the judge informed the officer he got the wrong guy, the judge still had to sentence him as he had received a PBJ in a prior appearance. Ms Kirby helped our son navigate the sentencing portion , where the judge lowered the miles and penalties at her request.
Post that appearance, Ms Kirby educated us on what would happen next as our son was still on his provisional which would mean a license suspension and helped us navigate requesting a hearing with the MVA. We hired Ms Kirby to represent our son at this hearing and assist in explaining to the judge the circumstances leading up to our son being pulled over ( he had been followed by an aggressive driver). She spent time with us as a family and with my 18 year old son, ensuring he felt prepared and that our questions and concerns were addressed. She spent significant amount of time learning about the circumstances leading up to event along with personally getting to know my son. The knowledge of who my son was as a person, along with the facts of the case were so well presented to the judge, he over turned the license suspension.
Since meeting Ms Kirby, I have continued to share this story with others as well as recommending her. Our family was very fortunate to have met her and gave her representing our son.

Rand represented me for custody modification I initiated at behest of my daughter. Her request was not without merit. Her mother was reported to Child Protective Services (CPS) by per pediatrician for gross physical abuse, when she was five. Her elementary, middle school, & high school counselors raised concerns regarding suicidal thoughts; in high school she experienced two severe crises. Six months after initiating modification, after discussions with her court-appointed attorney and social worker, my daughter indicated to me she no longer wanted to leave her mother. I duly directed my attorney to withdraw modification. This is what occurred next 18 months afterwards.
On multiple occasions, during private meetings, Rand assumed theatrically juvenile conspiratorial demeanor, stating special relationships with court officials, calling them with me present, attempting to obtain special case scheduling, judge assignment, etc, favoring my case; frequently discussed relationships with court judges; rarely engaging substantive, knowledgeable legal analysis. Over three pre-hearing conferences, lasting multiple hours each billable time, Rand was mute, neither offering constructive negotiation terms nor steering discussion to constructive basis in response to opposing attorney’s wild allegations. After conferences concluded, Rand expressed theatrical outrage and frustration with opposing attorney conduct.
In third conference, during private discussion, Rand accused me of launching numerous lawsuits as basis for current lengthy negotiations. Unclear how Rand arrived at his opinion. Over 11-year period, ex-wife filed: three protective orders, all of which were denied, dismissed, or withdrawn; numerous interim motions during pendente lite & divorce trials alleging various medical issues, all of which withdrawn after contradicting medical evidence; awarded generous custody & child support, only to lose all after appealing demanding more; pursued 5 back-to-back lawsuits starting two weeks after divorce ruling, all dismissed by summary judgement or denied. Pursued 7 new cases seeking sole custody & child support, all withdrawn, dismissed, or denied; twice sanctioned by Court to pay attorney fees for frivolous litigation. Rand never introduced to court her extensive litigation history; CPS history; violent confrontation with daughter’s psychologist; contempt for failing to pay child support; or court frequently finding her statements not credible. Rand should have known this history: he represented me for most of it.
At final hearing, Rand and opposing attorney held private conference with judge in chamber. After nearly three hours, attorneys and judge returned, and judge granted my request submitted 18 months previously. No open hearing, no open discussion or arguments. Never experienced such a stunt in 15 years litigation involving far more technical legal issues. After court adjourned, Rand abruptly indicated urgent need to leave, assuming theatrically juvenile demeanor and stating it was “dangerous” to remain.
Two years later, I received obvious phishing email from Rand, followed soon after by second email from him apologizing and stating he had been hacked. The apology email remarkably included private email addresses of 424 business members; local, state, and federal government officials; court officials; and private individuals.
Rand’s demeanor, though frequently theatrical with respect to describing opposing attorneys, was always courteous and polished towards me – something that fooled me for some time until his last case representing me, when his antics finally became obvious.
Rand’s juvenile focus on impressions over substance, indiligence, credulous acceptance of opposing attorney statements, willful ignorance, & extreme profiteering greatly wasted time and money far more productively applied to daughter’s therapy and college education.

I should've listened to my friends and family when they told me to get a lawyer after my accident- it would've saved me so much unnecessary stress from the get-go. I foolishly thought I could navigate everything myself until the insurance adjuster tried to screw me over with my settlement, as my injuries were more extensive than I had initially thought, and I ended up back in the ER along with needing PT and further tests. With this being my first real accident, I didn't realize how deceiving adjusters can be. My friend recommended Mr. Smith, as she also had a seamless experience years ago. This remains true today. Rachel was so kind when I first called, and I immediately felt more at ease, then Mr. Smith called me the next business day and walked me through everything. He was so patient, and I appreciate that he is straight forward but never rude. I was sure I had no case, thinking I signed the settlement, and it had been ~ two weeks of going back and forth with the adjuster. Note- MD residents- you have up to 60 days to revoke a statement if you didn't have legal representation, even if you signed a settlement. If the adjuster sends you money via direct deposit, it's still considered you cashing the money despite you not having touched it at all- and adjusters will not tell you this and try to close out the case asap. Turned out, I didn't even sign anything anyway. I think the whole process ended up taking ten months. Mr. Smith ensured that I got the fairest settlement possible, and I still can't believe how much I was initially willing to settle for. This was an eye opener. I was always kept in the loop of what was going on- it was never too much or too little, him and his team responded quickly and were very organized. Thanks for everything, Mr. Smith and Ms. Rachel!

Never say never, as the saying goes. We moved back to Maryland late last year and could never have imagined needing a criminal defense attorney shortly after. Unfortunately, my recent session with Ms. Tracy was less than satisfactory. While I appreciate the effort to provide guidance, the advice given was unhelpful and did not address my concerns effectively. The session was also disrupted by a delay in starting and an interruption midway, which further hindered the flow of our conversation.
Moreover, I felt that my concerns were not fully understood or taken seriously. Despite informing Ms. Tracy at the beginning of the session that I have a temporary protection order, this crucial detail seemed to be overlooked, leading to unnecessary surprise when it was mentioned later. Additionally, despite my clear statement that I have sole custody, I was questioned about my custody situation. This left me feeling defensive and uncertain about whether I had made the right decisions to protect my child.
What is most concerning is that I have not heard anything back from Ms. Tracy regarding these issues. It appears that she is collecting funds without providing accurate or helpful information. Given the lack of response and the overall unsatisfactory experience, I am requesting a refund for this session, as it did not meet my expectations or provide the level of professional
