I got arrested under suspicion of DUI in downtown Honolulu. The whole process was a stressful and expensive life experience. I talked to a few local attorneys and someone suggested James. I met with him and had a frank discussion on what happened and what I could expect in the coming months. His fees were in-line with some of the other attorneys. Not cheap but not outrageous, and you don’t necessarily want lowest price for something like this. Either way, I hired him as my attorney. He was well prepared the majority of the time and was very responsive. To make a year long story short. We had our ADLRO hearing and I had my license back within a week, no machine or defensive driving classes. Months of delay went on but we did our court time and ended up with my DUI being dismissed. I remember how stressful the process of selecting a lawyer was after being arrested for a DUI. Some offices I had to leave a message or make an appointment with the secretary. When I called James he answered himself, asked relevant questions, and overall left me feeling much better about the situation. After a brief meeting in person I knew I would want him representing me in court and that he'd offer the best defense possible against not only the DUI but speeding and reckless driving as well.
James never made me feel pressured and only offered useful advice. My case became very drawn out due to how the court works and I had to go in five times, sometimes only to reschedule as they ran out of time. James was always there and he always kept me informed as to whether my case would actually be dealt with, where we were in the case, and allowed me to make strategic decisions based on his explanations. James was well known and well respected in the courtroom from my experiences there and I was always happy and felt relaxed that he was representing me.
James immediately got my excessive speeding charge reduced to a traffic fine and we were debating the merits of taking the deal for the reckless charges depending on how the officer presented my driving. He also felt we could make a strong case against the DUI charges. So I was in pretty good shape even though I felt pretty rough when it first happened. However things ended even better than expected as after almost a 13 month wait James was able to get all charges dismissed with prejudice. All while I had moved away from Hawaii in the last two months to pursue a graduate program. So everything was dismissed and I never had to come back for a court date.
I will always be grateful for James and how he helped me.

I got my first and only DUI during the holidays so imagine the stress I felt during that time period. I called Noah, set an appointment and after he reviewed my documents he assured me I had a good case and was confident he could beat it. About a month later, sure enough, that was 100% accurate, he beat my case and that will not be on my record. Important note, he let me pay him in installments which was a huge relief! My family came to Ryan with a fairly uncommon problem. We needed his help transferring the guardianship of an adult from one state to another and also from one co-guardian to a new co-guardian. Sounds simple right? Ryan does not specialize in this type of law (I don't think many do), but he didn't bat an eye. We hired Ryan, and he was able to find out everything he needed to make our complex request He filed everything in a timely manner to get us in front of a judge and to get our matter handled. Hands down the best decision! Once finding out I was under investigation for a misdemeanor (yet very serious) allegation, I consulted with nearly a dozen attorneys. Alen was by far the most responsive, professional, helpful, and practical of all I spoke to, so I hired him. While some lawyers wanted to "wait it out" and see what the State was going to do, Alen engaged immediately and in the end, the prosecutor did not file charges in my case. My mother suffered a fractured jaw and bruised ribs from a fall at a commercial parking lot in Kailua. It was obvious the property management firm was negligent due to no lighting and obstructions leading to the overflow parking lot. You never want to settle directly with the insurance adjuster unless you have representation from an attorney. After consulting with dozens of attorneys who claimed they specialized in personal injury claims 99% refused to take the case citing: age of mom, Medicare issues and/or trouble prosecuting premise injuries. I finally came across with Sam King. Wow immediately I knew I found the right attorney. Most lawyers did not even want to spend much time on the phone discussing the issue but Mr. King invited us to his office and I could immediately know he was knowledgeable and very experienced in handling such cases. He knew how to work the system and who to talk with to get a good settlement. Other attorneys were simply clueless on many of these matters. I also liked that Mr. King never charged a penny upfront and I was free to consult with him regarding matters to this case. Very friendly and honest he could discuss the possible issues to expect. What my mom and I REALLY cherished from Mr. King was his ability to really listen. All these other attorneys talk and interrupt you constantly. Many times victims are formulating their thoughts and instead of assisting your thought process other attorneys cut you off. But not Mr. King. At the end we got a really big settlement w/o even having to go to trial. I would overwhelmingly recommend Mr. King to anyone who has experienced a personal injury.

Just to start of Jason Burks was not the first lawyer that I looked into to defend me there were several others. One of those lawyers being Mr. Tipon also on Avvo with a better review for whatever reason but he was going to charge me a minimum of 2500 without trial and with trial 7000 grand to defend me which seemed extremely steep for a disorderly. The reason I am bringing that up is because when I sat down with Mr. Burks he didn't try to beat around the bush and he said my case was extremely easy to deal with only charging me a thousand right away and another 500 for trail. So after a couple more sit downs with other lawyer I went with him the following week. Mr. Burks was extremely knowledgeable extremely attentive keeping me informed at all times. The night before my trail Mr. Burks called me, mind you it was a Sunday night, but he called to tell me that he had talked to the prosecutor and convinced him to drop the case. So in conclusion Mr. Burks got rid of all charges before even going to court only costing me a grand and if that doesn't make you employ him I don't know what will! Just fyi I'm in the military

Lani knows the law in and out. Just showing up to court with her if there is the slightest hole in the case the prosecution will not want to go to trial and will settle or dissmiss it. Recently after her partner got me a deferral I was three weeks away from early termination when a cop gave me a cell phone ticket and decided to throw in a minor missdemeanor that would have kept me on probation for another year. It's been over two months since my sentencing date and I still feel as though I haven't thanked Myron enough for all of his hardwork and compassion he had throughout my entire ordeal. I was young and stupid. I had accrued a hefty number of traffic related infractions. Parking tickets. Speeding. Suspended driver's license. No insurance. Multiple times each. I paid no heed to them and didn't even bother to go to court or pay fines. I added contempt of court to that. So, I left the islands and over the years got my act together. I got my masters. I got a job. I also wanted to fix my legal standing since I had the money. I consulted Ms. Gutierrez and received a thorough evaluation. She painstakingly gathered my decade and plus old profile and started creating a clear picture of what legal hurdles I had up against. I was impressed with her objective analysis. Just to be thorough, I consulted two other lawyers. They merely gave a half-hearted analysis and guarantee to fix everything, then a heavy price quote. One lawyer quoted for himself a practically blank check for his services. Neither inspired much confidence, despite the comparison between Ms. Gutierrez neutral and cautious analysis versus their more positive dispositions toward my cases. I went with her.
She outlined her plan to dismiss all of my cases. She outlined for me how to pay back some fines. She had my warrants dismissed (even the no-recall ones). She did an outstanding job. I am very pleased with her performance.

I called Patrick McPherson after a vehicle theft incident. I was immediate answered by Patrick and not a secretary or someone that had to put me on hold. I told him the situation and gave him the details, he never once made me feel stupid and explained in an easily understandable what to do. Tyson advised my family through a very sticky legal estate issue. He was incredibly responsive and thorough in answering questions, and gave sound advice. The job ended up being more complicated than anticipated, but the total amount was within the range that he had estimated because he was very clear in explaining "if X, then it could be about $5,000, but if Y and Z happen, it could run up to $15,000-20,000". His in-depth understanding of countering the legal office is what will win your case. Constitutional rights our forebearers fought for us to have. As service members, we have rights guaranteed by Law. We fight for what we have, and we have rights (even during our service). (Let this aforementioned statement emanate) Understanding this with a world class representation will save your good standing for the rest of your life. I will keep it short and sweet. Ofir impressed me from the get-go and continued to up until the end and it wasn't like he was the first person I called; I initially reached out to maybe ten local attorneys on this matter while doing market research.
