I was very satisfied and thankful for the service Jessie Duran was able to provide for me. Im going to begin with the fact that i actually had the opportunity to compare his service to that of a previously hired lawyer who was not able to do anything for me, therefore replaced him/her. Jessie Duran gets in there and does not settle, he actually looks out for you in every aspect necessary when in that court room. I would highly recommend him as your next defense attorney.

If could give 10 star if I would. Ms. Chellei was always busy, but that never stopped her to call me back with any questions and/or concern I had. There was times where attorney was in a different county 8hrs in court and she always called me back same day, even if it was later in the day. Everyone in the office was great even when i was super overwhelmed and might have sounded off towards them at times. That was due to my complicated case and was feeling as there was no light at the end of the tunnel. Ms. Chellei and her team not only made me see the light shining bright at the end of the tunnel, but handled my case with care, respect, dignity as any legal representative should. I am very, very impressed with their service and will refer anyone in need. I read a lot of comments about the charges, but all i have to say that this office is providing a service with a price that was presented at the time you signed a client representation agreement. Any service given, on the case from the office is not free. I must give credit to myself as well as i was ahead of the game on providing all paperwork in advance, which made the presentation from the attorney more efficient. Attorneys will never be able to represent a good case unless you provide documents and communicate with them thoroughly. Client -Attorney relationship is a tango dance, they must dance/work together. ***Thank you Team Jimenez Law Group!***

She gave me three minutes I did not get a chance to say anything. She took my papers left the room came back and told me what was what. I was charged $175 for less than 5 minutes never being able to say a word. She just stole my money and hurt me further. I have requested a refund more than once. I went to her for help she did nothing but damage me further and take my money which is very little as I am on Social Security. It was supposed to be a consultation I needed help badly. She was cold and indifferent. She did not care at all to hear what I came to talk to her about. It was a HORRIBLE experience

Mr. Symonds has been an excellent attorney. He has worked very hard even working on the weekend to handle my complicated, time consuming, case. I have had two other attorneys and have been around six other attorneys and I have never seen anyone work so hard and care so much for his client as Mr. Symonds. His communication is beyond excellent. He communicates through text, email, and the shocking thing is if he isn't in court or with a client he answers his phone calls. His customer service is exemplery. I researched over ten attorneys and found that Mr. Symonds met my criteria to represent me in a child custody and divorce case. He has been honest, detail oriented, professional, and charges a fair price for the amount of work he does. If you have a tough case like mine and you someone to fight for you then you want Mr. Symonds on your side.

My experience with Mr. Symonds was a complete nightmare! He was found via text message by opposing council. Once in his office, I found out that they are close enough to know the opposing council’s husband’s birthday by heart. Clearly this raised some red flags right from the beginning. However, proving things like that are very difficult in Court. Mr. Symonds, who was assigned to be the minors attorney, did not interview the minor's therapist who was involved with the case for the previous 4 years! Instead he kept telling me his own story how he got full custody of his own kids via a 730 evaluation. He clearly, in my observation, is still very angry at his ex who now has passed away and was unable to disassociate his past history from my current case. He also showed bias towards my ex, who was a former Marine just like Mr. Symonds. In my opinion he prides himself in his fee of $150/hour and he told me that now, since he is a minors attorney, the Judges have to listen to him, where they didn’t before. Mr. Symonds did not follow up with me about the case at all. I prepared a binder to show all of the e-mail communication between me and my ex. Mr. Symonds did not even read it, he seemed to have already sided with my ex as soon as he discovered they were both former marines, completely unprofessional! At one point he told me that I did not “please him”, this was behind closed doors of course. I contacted a paralegal in regards to filing a formal complaint with the bar, she said that filing the bar complaint would only put him through some ethics classes. Thankfully he is off the case now. The 730 evaluation was completely in my favor. Mr. Symonds incompetence and bias caused many people to suffer. It took a 730 evaluator who had 30+ years to step in to resolve the case. Mr. Symonds has very little experience. Please save yourself heartache and stay as far away of him as possible.

You will not find better representation. With two prior divorces, I have retained a few of them. Never have I had a better attorney, representative, and counselor than Eric Symonds. His legal ability is superb. He enjoys his profession which keeps him current and extremely knowledgeable. He is sharp, with an eye for detail that many lack. I won't waste your time and simply say; I am a single father to a three year old boy. I hold Legal and Physical Custody with an excellent parenting plan in place. I am a man awarded “Full” Custody of his toddler. How often have you seen that? Eric Symonds is my attorney.

Tamara Binns knows very little about law. I actually don't know how she has a license to practice. She represented my ex in a family law case. She was unprofessional, catty, dishonest, and also dishonest with him, which is insane because he was her client. During court she demonstrated that she was also pro-abuser and anti-woman. Needless to say she continued the case many times wasting both of our money, and then she lost. Royally. She is a piece of work and should be disbarred.

Tamara states that she is a criminal defense attorney as well as family law and car accident. I hired her to represent my husband and she did absolutely nothing for him except kept asking for continuances. Never was there any motion made or did she object to anything that was being said. I have felt that I paid this woman to send my husband down the river. After he took the plea deal of 19 years that he, she told him that it was a good thing that he took the deal because the last 2 men she represented ended up getting life. I think that maybe she is an ok attorney in the other areas of the law like in family law, which she practices in more often, but she is definitely not worth hiring if you need her to keep you or your loved one from doing any kind of prison time.

I would strongly advise against retaining the services of Marc Hodges as your attorney. My experience with him was extremely unprofessional and disappointing. Marc consistently displayed a lack of punctuality, often arriving late to meetings and court appearances. Additionally, he failed to submit necessary paperwork in a timely manner, causing unnecessary delays and complications in my case. Marc's billing practices were also concerning. Despite quoting a flat fee, he frequently requested additional payments after the fact. Communication with him was frustrating, as he was unresponsive unless payment was involved, often taking days to reply to messages. On one occasion, I had to contact the bar association in order to retrieve important documents from him after I declined his proposition for further representation. Furthermore, Marc's lack of commitment to representing my best interests was evident. He seemed more focused on his own agenda rather than advocating for what I believed was right. In family law matters, this lack of dedication can have serious consequences. It is worth noting that any advance payments made for court services were not refunded, even if the services were not rendered as agreed upon. Marc also conducted business without a formal contract, allowing him to alter terms as he saw fit. Despite the presence of Christian symbols in his office, Marc's actions did not align with the values they represent. His inconsistent behavior, suspicious usage of multiple vehicles, raises further concerns about his professionalism and reliability. In conclusion, I strongly recommend seeking legal representation elsewhere to avoid the frustrations and disappointments I experienced while working with Marc Hodges.

Marc Hodges is a caring and thorough lawyer. He has helped so many people in the years of his practice. Anyone getting on here saying outright lies are disgruntled miserable people whom wish to spread their misery. It is slanderous to say outright lies. Grown men acting like unhappy spoiled children because real life didn’t match what theyve seen on television. . Learn how to distinguish your fleeting feelings from the truth. It is shameful to lie on Mr Hodges on this platform just for you to spread the misery of your life. Shame on you!

Marc Hodges was late to our first meeting & consultation. He charged me $1,500 to file an application that he knew would be denied. He did not make the one phone call to the contact given that would confirm that he could not assist me with my matter. After conveying my dissatisfaction towards his services, he promised to file a motion, per request, and appear in court with me just once to make things right. Motion was filed with my signature forged on two documents. He did not show up for court. Court date was rescheduled. Called Mr. Hodges prior to 2nd court date, accused him of lying, deceivingm me, & being dishonorable. I requested a refund of $1000. He agreed with my accusations & said he would only refund $500. That's unacceptable was my response. Marc Hodges did not show up for court for the 2nd time and has not returned any of my calls nor text messages. His refund offer was unreasonable due to my lost work wages, my wasted time, & lack of effort on his part. I had to represent myself in court and although legally advised that at the end of the day my caae would remain the same, I just wanted mr. Hodges to appear in court and represent me as promised. Every statement written here is true & verifiable upon request. I've made peace within and forgiven Mr.. Hodges for his actions and lack of action. I have also decided not to proceed with anything that I was advised to do regarding Mr. Hodges. I'm aware that good business breeds good business. And word of mouth and referrals bring forth more business. I was referred to him by a very good friend and this is what happened in my situation. I would not refer him to anyone that I know. Good luck to potential clients and Marc Hodges as well.

What a Criminal Defense Lawyer Can Do for You

A criminal defense lawyer provides legal representation to individuals or organizations accused of criminal conduct. If you're facing criminal charges, a defense lawyer will work to protect your rights, build a defense strategy, and ensure you receive a fair trial. Their primary goal is to reduce or dismiss charges, secure an acquittal, or negotiate a favorable plea deal.

Criminal defense lawyers have extensive knowledge of criminal law and court procedures. They investigate your case, identify weaknesses in the prosecution's evidence, and represent you in court, ensuring that you have the best possible defense.

When Should I Hire a Criminal Defense Lawyer?

It’s crucial to hire a criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible if you are facing any criminal charges. Some situations in which you should seek legal representation include:

  • Arrest or police questioning: If you've been arrested or are under investigation, hiring a lawyer early on can prevent self-incrimination and protect your rights during police questioning.
  • Felony charges: Crimes such as murder, assault, drug trafficking, or robbery carry severe penalties, including long prison sentences. A defense lawyer is essential in these cases.
  • Misdemeanor charges: Even for less serious offenses like DUI, theft, or simple assault, a lawyer can help reduce penalties, negotiate alternatives to jail, or get charges dismissed.
  • Plea negotiations: If you’re considering a plea bargain, a lawyer can evaluate the deal, advise you on its consequences, and negotiate for more favorable terms.
  • Probation or parole violations: If you’ve been accused of violating probation or parole, a lawyer can defend you against additional penalties or revocation.
  • Juvenile offenses: For minors charged with criminal acts, a criminal defense lawyer can protect their future by minimizing legal repercussions or keeping the case in juvenile court.

What Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Do?

Criminal defense lawyers provide comprehensive legal services to protect their clients’ rights throughout the criminal justice process. Their duties include:

  • Case evaluation and investigation: Reviewing the evidence, interviewing witnesses, and investigating the facts to develop a strong defense strategy.
  • Legal advice: Advising you on your rights, the charges you’re facing, and potential defense strategies, including whether to take a plea deal or go to trial.
  • Negotiating plea bargains: Working with prosecutors to negotiate a plea deal that could reduce charges or minimize penalties.
  • Court representation: Representing you in all court hearings, including bail hearings, pretrial motions, trials, and sentencing hearings.
  • Filing motions: Filing motions to dismiss charges, suppress evidence, or reduce bail, depending on the specifics of your case.
  • Trial preparation and defense: Preparing a defense strategy and presenting arguments, evidence, and witnesses during trial to contest the prosecution's case.
  • Appeals: If you are convicted, a defense lawyer can appeal the conviction or sentence, arguing errors in the trial process or legal rulings.

How Are Criminal Defense Lawyers Paid?

Criminal defense lawyers generally charge clients in one of three ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: For straightforward cases (e.g., minor misdemeanors), some lawyers charge a one-time flat fee that covers all aspects of the defense.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing cases, lawyers may charge by the hour, with rates varying based on the lawyer’s experience and geographic location.
  • Retainer fee: In cases where extensive work is expected, the client may pay a retainer fee upfront. The lawyer then bills against that retainer for their work on the case.

The cost of criminal defense services can vary greatly, so it’s important to discuss fees during your initial consultation.

How Much Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a criminal defense lawyer depends on several factors, including the severity of the charges, the complexity of the case, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost guidelines are:

  • Misdemeanor cases: For relatively minor offenses, such as a DUI or petty theft, a flat fee may range from $1,500 to $5,000.
  • Felony cases: More serious charges, such as assault or drug trafficking, can range from $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the complexity and duration of the case.
  • Hourly rates: For cases billed by the hour, lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on their expertise and the case's location.
  • Additional expenses: You may also be responsible for other costs, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, or the cost of private investigators.

Be sure to clarify the lawyer’s fee structure and any potential additional costs during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Criminal Defense Lawyer

Before hiring a criminal defense lawyer, you’ll want to ensure that they’re a good fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has a strong track record with the specific type of criminal charges you’re facing, whether it’s DUI, drug offenses, or violent crimes.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services and whether you’ll be responsible for any additional costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
A good lawyer should provide an honest assessment of your case and the likelihood of dismissal, a plea bargain, or conviction.
  4. How many cases have you taken to trial?
While many criminal cases settle with a plea deal, it’s important to hire a lawyer with courtroom experience in case your case goes to trial.
  5. Who will handle my case?
Ask if the lawyer will be personally involved or if other attorneys in the firm will handle most of the work.
  6. How do you communicate with your clients?
Be clear on how often and through what channels you can expect updates on your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Criminal Defense Lawyer

To verify the credibility of a criminal defense lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their standing with the state bar: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any past disciplinary actions or complaints.
  • Read online reviews and testimonials: Platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google can provide insights from previous clients about the lawyer’s communication, professionalism, and case outcomes.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should have past clients or other professionals who can speak to their competence and work ethic.
  • Review their case history: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to see their experience with criminal cases, including high-profile or complex cases.
  • Look for trial experience: If your case might go to trial, make sure the lawyer has a strong history of courtroom advocacy and success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your first consultation with a criminal defense lawyer, bring the following:

  • Details of your case: Be prepared to provide a detailed account of the charges against you, including any documents related to your arrest, police reports, and court dates.
  • Criminal history: If you have any prior criminal convictions, inform your lawyer so they can understand how that may affect your current case.
  • List of witnesses or evidence: If there are any potential witnesses or evidence that may support your defense, share this information during the consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare questions about their experience, legal strategy, and fees to ensure you understand how they will handle your case.
  • Bail or release documents: If you’ve been released on bail, bring any paperwork related to your release conditions or restrictions.

By being well-prepared, you can help your lawyer quickly assess your situation and begin building an effective defense strategy.
