I can't thank Mr. Harry Dhillon and all the staff at Law Office of Harry Dhillon enough for their incredible help with my Form I-539 and F1 status reinstatement. Their expertise and support were a game-changer. Mr. Dhillon made the entire process smooth and stress-free. They explained each step clearly, addressed all my concerns, and ensured I was well-informed throughout. There was complete transparency throughout the entire step. And all of this at a very affordable price. Could not have have asked for anyone better. I highly recommend Mr.Harry Dhillon and Law Office of Harry Dhillon for all immigration matters. They're not just lawyers; they genuinely care about their clients' well-being.

Mr. Hans Hjertonsson was recommended to us by one of the most sought-after lawyers in the entire Stanislaus county area. I am so glad we followed that recommendation! Mr. Hjertsonsson's services were outstanding from the start. Professional, punctual, true to his word, Mr. Hjertsonsson does not offer lavish (and improbable) promises - he offers realistic solutions to your issues and delivers legal excellence inside and outside the court room. Could not recommend his services enough.

Mr forkner is a very good attorney he's been helping me with my case I know he has a good reputation I have nothing but good things to say about him. But one of his securities is very rude and says things like she is an attorney and is 100% sure and when she is proven wrong she uses the "well I'm not an attorney" and she has been very rude every time I have talked to her she has no idea what me and forkner speak about and says things without knowing our strategy!

Andrea Fatone is an excellent lawyer. She is kind hearted, dedicated and a true unselfish lawyer. My wife's green card was expired. After getting so many different answers from different lawyers, we got lucky and met Andrea. Even though we were outside USA, Andrea did us a favor and accepetd our complicated case. Honestly, Andrea saved us so much time and so much money. From the beginning of our process, Andrea kept us informed about our case and made so many calls to help us with my wife's interview at the US emabassy in Turkey and.... Through Andrea's superb and umatched efforts, we did get my wife's green card. We owe our happy life in USA to Andrea Fatone.

He seemed like a nice person and I was referred by a cousin who is very fond of him. Paid him $1,500 to show up to my husband's court. Well it ended up getting canceled, husband didn't even show up anywhere online that he needed to attend. I just paid the speeding ticket online. After that, he ignored my texts and message I left in person, never received any type of refund. Because after all he didn't have to go. Or not even a reply. So I'm not sure if I can recommend.

Aaron Villalobos was nice when I first had a consultation with him but after he took my money he wouldn’t return my phone calls, he forgot about my court date and didn’t show up for court, so I ended up with a warrant for my arrest because of him. I paid him 15,000 dollars up front. Full paid attorney who blew me off on many occasions for appointment for case discussion. Kept putting my case out. Kept icnoring phone calls and texts. Actually never has a way to leave him voice messages. He neglects to check or erase previous ones. Never received my discovery from case or any paperwork. Which is my right to have. Put my case out so far. I don't believe I am capable of getting to the video and proof I needed on my behalf because he's neglected my FULLY PAID CASE. HES STILL HAS NOT RETURNED MY FEE OF 15,000 OVER A MONTH NOW SINCE I FIRED HIM. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL IN MY POINT OF VIEW. HE HAD A PAST CLIENT HE DODNT EVEN SHOW UP TO HIS TRAIL FOR REPRESENTATION. HES A WELL PUT TOGETHER MAN. BUT HIS PRIORITY DEFINITELY IS NOT HIS CLIENTS. ITS THE MONEY HE TAKES FROM YOU AND LEAVES YOU TO BE HUNG PUT TO DRY. WITH PUT MY 15,000 FEE HES REFUSING TO GIVE BACK I AM YET LEFT HUNG OUT TO DRY BY HIM AGAIN. I CANT AFFORD ANOTHER 15,000. SO I HOPE I DONT GO PRISON NOW!!! THANKS TO MR. He is very intelligent, and comfortable to talk too and be around. He has been the best all around attorney my family has ever hired. Everything he said he might be able to do for me and my case, he made happen. And some. He did even better than he told me he could do when ii first talked to him. Alanzo actually cares about his clients and is worth every dollar. He is the best of the best and he is so nice, and genuine. The case i hired him for wasnt my first time getting in trouble. But it was the first time I was going to go to prison for years. The public defender that was assigned to my case told me that the best deal he could make with the DA, was six years with half time and a strike and I had to serve my time in state prison. And my fingerprint was found inside the house so if I took it to trial i would most likley loose... That wasn't acceptable for me because i just had a baby and was living out of state with a full time job and living a sober honest life. So i decided to hire an attorney that way it would delay my pre-trial. Since they had my fingerprint, i thought there was no hope for me an beating my case. But after talking Alanzo, i felt like there was hope. Everything he said sounded so good. So at first I just thought he was just good at telling me what i wanted to hear, that way i would hire him... Well long story short; everything single thing he told me, HAPPENED!!! And some. After he delayed my case for a year, and he only promised about 6-8 months. And he made it to where i didnt even have to go to court the whole time because i live out of state. He just showed up for me. Witch was really convenient fo me because i work and would get fired if the knew i was calling off because im fighting a home invasion case in CA. And to top it all off, today i was able to take a plea deal and finally resovle my case. I have to 1 year in county with half time and 2 years supervised probation and NO STIKES or robbery/burglary charge!!! AMAZING.

Mr. Hogan is an angel sent by god to defend my daughter and I in court. Her father was willing to put our daughter through trauma and physical pain because of greed. Mr. Hogan fought hard and is the most down to earth attorney I’ve ever met in my lifetime. I appreciate the compassion he had for our situation. If you need an attorney that is well educated, experienced and has heart; he is the man to hire. My ex- husband has been absent in our daughter’s life for years however has money for his expensive but ignorant attorney. He wanted joint conservatorship of our daughter. Not to be apart of her life but to try and get out of support for her. Mr. Hogan represented my daughter and did everything he could to keep her in her safe, loving and secure environment; with me, her mama. I love her more than anything in this world and would do whatever it took to keep her physically, mentally, emotionally healthy and happy. Mr. Hogan witnessed that unconditional love I have for her and expressed that clearly to the judge. I’m pleased to report she will be staying with me and her father is unable to rip her from her safe and loving home. Thank you Mr. Hogan for the support and how you represented us in court. God bless you and yours. My peers when you have an attorney that speaks from his heart and will fight for you with every word he speaks; Mr. Hogan is that man and the right attorney to hire.

Ryan Roth is a nice guy but I warn anybody reading this that’s considering hiring him: DO NOT DO IT. Go with the public defender. You will waste your money and regret hiring Roth if you do. He put up ZERO fight for me at my preliminary hearing. He didn’t even attempt to negotiate a better plea deal for me. The DA knows if you hire a lawyer of course they’ll just talk good about you. GO WITH THE PUBLIC DEFENDER. TRUST ME ON THIS. It pains me to write this review because like I said Ryan is a nice guy, but that won’t help you in court. Ryan does NOT respond to emails, voicemails, or text messages.

In a memo submitted to the judge Mitchell confused my misdemeanor with a felony. He told the judge I was convicted of this felony when I plead guilty to a misdemeanor. For him, having a felony or a misdemeanor conviction didn't make much difference. For some time, my CA DOJ materials were being mailed to the wrong address. When I told his office, he was unaware of this problem and at first didn't do anything. My record needs more cleaning up, and when I asked him "what next?" he politely excused himself. I was given a bad deal by the judge, and Mitchell ignored this fact.

I went to this Attorney because I was going through a Divorce and didn't have tons of money. I met Mr. Mitchell and really liked him. I paid my money and was disappointed after with the paralegal that didn't do the paperwork like she should have and I had to keep calling, the paper ended up being filed the night before the hearing. Then I had to work with another attorney from his office and this attorney did nothing for me, he even forgot to show up on a court date. The judge let me call him and wait. There was many times that this Attorney could have said something and just sat there drawing on a yellow pad. Like he was in deep thought and yes I elbowed him several times. When we left the room he told me I know what women like you want. I have no idea what that means. I would like to thank him for standing up for me and my daughter! (NOT). A little research and found out why he seemed to be out of it. His Step daughter was killed and he was in the process of suing the city. I'm so sorry for his loss, but really feel that Mr. Mitchell should have given me someone else and in my opinion he is responsible for who he has in his office.

Moreno "represented" me as a public defender. KAPM misinformed me and misinformed the DA about me. Moreno didn't read the plea agreement in place for my case. KAPM misinformed me that documentation was not needed at the final court hearing. Find out a couple months later, the documentation was needed and the DA had been misinformed by KAPM that I didn't finish the terms of my plea deal. But I had done so. it took my new lawyer several months to respond to and to present the documentation that I had met all the terms of the plea agreement. KAPM ignored multiple emails I sent asking questions and providing information. Horrible communication. Didn't inform me when the judge concluded my probation.

I hired Mr. Hogan to help me handle a short sale. Mr. Hogan was friendly and helpful. HOWEVER, after my consultation I was forwarded to his assistants (which I completely understand). The problem was, his assistants seemed completely disinterested in my case. They failed to keep my phone appointments, and I had to re-explain my case EVERY time because they had completely forgotten about me! One assistant was EXTREMELY RUDE (I can't remember her name). It was quite honestly THE WORST MONEY I'VE EVER SPENT. I subsequently fired Mr. Hogan's law firm, and hired another attorney who settled my issue in half the time at a fraction of the cost.

I was involved in an accident and I carry a Commercial drivers license. My first court date I was not represented but offered a Reckless Driving with 2 points on my driving record from the Judge for resolution. I explained to her that I may seek professional legal help because that would be employment suicide for me take such a charge. I hired Mrs. McAllister for $3,000. He told me its a bullshit case and he will be able to take care of it. 2 years later he is telling me D.A. isn't going to budge his offer Is RECKLESS DRIVING, WITH 30 DAYS JAIL, 40 HOURS COMMUNITY SERVICE AND FEES OF COURSE. I payed him $3,000 just to add jail time and community service to it??? I argued to Mr. McAllister why would I accept that??? He began to give me an attitude and raise his voice with me." Well I wasn't there that day and nor was the D.A." is what he said. I told him no jail time, he said "ok I will talk to him one last time" I watched Mr. McAllister like a Hawk watches a rat. He never approached the D.A. called him to the side nothing. He waits 15-20 minutes after handling another client of his. He approaches me, brings me to the small discussion room and tells me. "The D.A. has paperwork saying your first court date they offered you 60 days jail and Reckless Driving with Community service. Im thinking Mrs. McAllister being my lawyer, why would he allow the D.A. have something that he doesn't and wont be able to contest? Besides that Mr. McAllister is a complete liar, not competitive and is tired of what he does for a living. Be careful hiring someone with that many years in there in a specific occupation, they tend to get lazy, and just don't care and seem to think they are the Judge. He is embarrassing looking. Does not groom well at all. I just cant believe he f***** me like this. Think twice before hiring him

Kirk is an amazing criminal defense lawyer, he has a brilliant mind and a vast knowledge of trial law. I was accused of a crime I didn't commit. I have never been in trouble, as a law abiding citizen I had no idea what to do or where to begin. I was given a referral by a friend and from the moment I sat across from Kirk McAllister I felt confident that I was in good hands. After more than a year of ridiculous and petty charges the District Attorney had no choice but to drop all charges. I know if I hadn't had Kirk on my side I would most likely still be playing a game of cat and mouse with the DA.

What a Criminal Defense Lawyer Can Do for You

A criminal defense lawyer provides legal representation to individuals or organizations accused of criminal conduct. If you're facing criminal charges, a defense lawyer will work to protect your rights, build a defense strategy, and ensure you receive a fair trial. Their primary goal is to reduce or dismiss charges, secure an acquittal, or negotiate a favorable plea deal.

Criminal defense lawyers have extensive knowledge of criminal law and court procedures. They investigate your case, identify weaknesses in the prosecution's evidence, and represent you in court, ensuring that you have the best possible defense.

When Should I Hire a Criminal Defense Lawyer?

It’s crucial to hire a criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible if you are facing any criminal charges. Some situations in which you should seek legal representation include:

  • Arrest or police questioning: If you've been arrested or are under investigation, hiring a lawyer early on can prevent self-incrimination and protect your rights during police questioning.
  • Felony charges: Crimes such as murder, assault, drug trafficking, or robbery carry severe penalties, including long prison sentences. A defense lawyer is essential in these cases.
  • Misdemeanor charges: Even for less serious offenses like DUI, theft, or simple assault, a lawyer can help reduce penalties, negotiate alternatives to jail, or get charges dismissed.
  • Plea negotiations: If you’re considering a plea bargain, a lawyer can evaluate the deal, advise you on its consequences, and negotiate for more favorable terms.
  • Probation or parole violations: If you’ve been accused of violating probation or parole, a lawyer can defend you against additional penalties or revocation.
  • Juvenile offenses: For minors charged with criminal acts, a criminal defense lawyer can protect their future by minimizing legal repercussions or keeping the case in juvenile court.

What Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Do?

Criminal defense lawyers provide comprehensive legal services to protect their clients’ rights throughout the criminal justice process. Their duties include:

  • Case evaluation and investigation: Reviewing the evidence, interviewing witnesses, and investigating the facts to develop a strong defense strategy.
  • Legal advice: Advising you on your rights, the charges you’re facing, and potential defense strategies, including whether to take a plea deal or go to trial.
  • Negotiating plea bargains: Working with prosecutors to negotiate a plea deal that could reduce charges or minimize penalties.
  • Court representation: Representing you in all court hearings, including bail hearings, pretrial motions, trials, and sentencing hearings.
  • Filing motions: Filing motions to dismiss charges, suppress evidence, or reduce bail, depending on the specifics of your case.
  • Trial preparation and defense: Preparing a defense strategy and presenting arguments, evidence, and witnesses during trial to contest the prosecution's case.
  • Appeals: If you are convicted, a defense lawyer can appeal the conviction or sentence, arguing errors in the trial process or legal rulings.

How Are Criminal Defense Lawyers Paid?

Criminal defense lawyers generally charge clients in one of three ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: For straightforward cases (e.g., minor misdemeanors), some lawyers charge a one-time flat fee that covers all aspects of the defense.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing cases, lawyers may charge by the hour, with rates varying based on the lawyer’s experience and geographic location.
  • Retainer fee: In cases where extensive work is expected, the client may pay a retainer fee upfront. The lawyer then bills against that retainer for their work on the case.

The cost of criminal defense services can vary greatly, so it’s important to discuss fees during your initial consultation.

How Much Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a criminal defense lawyer depends on several factors, including the severity of the charges, the complexity of the case, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost guidelines are:

  • Misdemeanor cases: For relatively minor offenses, such as a DUI or petty theft, a flat fee may range from $1,500 to $5,000.
  • Felony cases: More serious charges, such as assault or drug trafficking, can range from $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the complexity and duration of the case.
  • Hourly rates: For cases billed by the hour, lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on their expertise and the case's location.
  • Additional expenses: You may also be responsible for other costs, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, or the cost of private investigators.

Be sure to clarify the lawyer’s fee structure and any potential additional costs during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Criminal Defense Lawyer

Before hiring a criminal defense lawyer, you’ll want to ensure that they’re a good fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has a strong track record with the specific type of criminal charges you’re facing, whether it’s DUI, drug offenses, or violent crimes.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services and whether you’ll be responsible for any additional costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
A good lawyer should provide an honest assessment of your case and the likelihood of dismissal, a plea bargain, or conviction.
  4. How many cases have you taken to trial?
While many criminal cases settle with a plea deal, it’s important to hire a lawyer with courtroom experience in case your case goes to trial.
  5. Who will handle my case?
Ask if the lawyer will be personally involved or if other attorneys in the firm will handle most of the work.
  6. How do you communicate with your clients?
Be clear on how often and through what channels you can expect updates on your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Criminal Defense Lawyer

To verify the credibility of a criminal defense lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their standing with the state bar: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any past disciplinary actions or complaints.
  • Read online reviews and testimonials: Platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google can provide insights from previous clients about the lawyer’s communication, professionalism, and case outcomes.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should have past clients or other professionals who can speak to their competence and work ethic.
  • Review their case history: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to see their experience with criminal cases, including high-profile or complex cases.
  • Look for trial experience: If your case might go to trial, make sure the lawyer has a strong history of courtroom advocacy and success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your first consultation with a criminal defense lawyer, bring the following:

  • Details of your case: Be prepared to provide a detailed account of the charges against you, including any documents related to your arrest, police reports, and court dates.
  • Criminal history: If you have any prior criminal convictions, inform your lawyer so they can understand how that may affect your current case.
  • List of witnesses or evidence: If there are any potential witnesses or evidence that may support your defense, share this information during the consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare questions about their experience, legal strategy, and fees to ensure you understand how they will handle your case.
  • Bail or release documents: If you’ve been released on bail, bring any paperwork related to your release conditions or restrictions.

By being well-prepared, you can help your lawyer quickly assess your situation and begin building an effective defense strategy.
