The results of her work surpassed my expectations. Olga was very helpful from the very first meeting and immediately got involved in my case. She was always very easy to reach. Although the work on my case lasted for more than 2 years, she would know every nuance of my case at any time I or she would call. And her work, as a negotiator, with the insurance company on my case was stunning.

Alex was my lawyer who helped me through my divorce. I looked at 20 different lawyers online and chose him based off of the great reviews. Now I’m here writing my own. My experience with Alex was wonderful. He made everything so easy and his communication was great. I am so happy and grateful that I was able to find him. What mattered to me most was you can tell he really cares. I’m extremely thankful for Alex making my divorce a pleasant experience. You’re the best Alex!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Alex during my immigration process, and I must say it was a positive and reassuring experience. From the moment I walked through the door, I explained to Alex that I had procrastinated and had a very short window to resolve my immigration issues. Despite the tight timeline, Alex displayed an exceptional level of dedication and expertise in ensuring that I could meet my travel dates. His confidence and in-depth knowledge of immigration law immediately put my worries to rest. I am truly grateful for his outstanding service and would highly recommend Alex to anyone seeking an immigration attorney. David M.

Good evening, I hardly write reviews, but after reading so many positive reviews. I've decided to give Mr. Groover a chance. Mr. Groover would be my second attorney for this citation. In the beginning everything seemed promising and their communication was fantastic compared to my first lawyer where I would not get a response for days and even a whole week. My first lawyer told me he would take care of everything and look into my case. Offered to help with a citation. Come to find out nothing was done and gave some bogus advice stating I can only appeal this citation. I ended driving back to court 10 minutes after he stated that and I recieved another contested hearing for may 12. I decided to look for a new lawyer after filing my grievance with the state bar for his conduct. that's when 1 decided to look for a new lawyer and came across K. Groover and his reviews. Spoked to Mr. Groover or his assistant, mid April. I Informed him as to what happened to my first attorney which I filed a grievance against for the fact that he stated he would help with the citation, would look into it, ended up he didn't do anything. But still have the nerves to offer his service to help with my insurance claim. 05/08 I got a call while I was at work and was told to either take the plea bargain or Kenneth will not be representing me. Stating with how federal way court works, they had 2 lawyers look at the case they don't want to take on the case. I asked why and their was responses was we don't want to ruin our relation with the prosecutors. Refuse to even take this to trial even after I told them they will be compensated for their time. So far the only thing they did was prolong my court date. Filed a continuance since Mr. Groover was busy with other cases. When it came down to my case, pressuring me to take a plea bargain. Not just once but on multiple occasion. They are more worried about their relations with the prosecutor. Instead of actually representing their client. What relation are they referring to? Are they just trying to avoid putting this officer on the stand? Now I got an email stating the officer can't attend my new hearing date and it got pushed back to July. Where's the justice in that? If you think this is all about money it is not. I can easily pay off this citation, I'm only fighting this because 1ST, I did nothing wrong and if they want to give me that citation they can give it on record based on hearsay. Nothing on the police report was admissible in court until I see everyone involved testify under oath. The person who cause the accident did not have insurance, nor did she get a citation. The best part is the police report was 1 paragraph long they considered that evidence. At the end of the day I rather pay thousands in legal fees than pay this greedy city. I wonder how serious Mr Groove would take this case If I did offered $1,500. Win or lose I'll happily pay my insurance premiums. 5/11, called today and found out the lawyer withdrew Officer Sales from being subpoenaed. I responded "with why" with no response then Stated prosecutor offered a plea bargain and we don't want to take on this case because we don't want to ruin our relation with the prosecutor. Also stating I won't get my partial refund back unless I sign some paperwork. But all was done was my court date getting prolonged. I told them I'm not signing anything until my new lawyer sees the document they are requiring me to sign before my portion of the payment. 1/3 goes to lawyer fee since they took on my case and filed a continuance. my refund are being held until the paperwork they are requesting are signed. Update: want to give me a full refund but wants me to sign some paperwork before the fund are release back to me!

If you're in need of a traffic speeding lawyer, I highly recommend Kenneth Grover. I recently had the pleasure of working with them on a case and I was incredibly impressed with their expertise, professionalism, and dedication to getting the best possible outcome. From the very beginning, Mr. Grover was attentive and responsive to my needs. They took the time to listen to my concerns and explain the legal process to me in a way that was easy to understand. Throughout the case, they kept me updated on any developments and answered all of my questions promptly. What really stood out to me was Mr Grover's knowledge of traffic law and their ability to negotiate with the prosecutor. They were able to get my charges reduced to a lesser offense, which saved me a significant amount of money in fines and insurance premiums. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with my experience working with Mr. Grover's. They are an excellent traffic speeding lawyer and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone in need of legal representation for traffic violations.

I believe there were 5 showings in court and she was late to 3 of them. Showed up twice unprepared, and tried to lie to me about it. I am not a rich man so I hired her to protect me against ridiculous terms in a parenting plan. The final straw was all paperwork was signed and she was supposed to bring it to the judge. She TEXT me to give me horrible news that it wasn't signed. When I called to discuss, her response was I'm with a client. I responded in all regular case letters and no explanation points that the next time she had a bomb to drop, make sure that she's available to discuss it with me. She used that opportunity to say that I was using a harsh tone with her and that she would talk to me when I learned how to talk to her properly. Again, this is a text message with no additions other than regular type. I still have the message saved. I firmly believe that she knew the money was running out. And instead of continuing to provide the service that was paid for, she decided this was a way to escape. I sent her an email asking her to stop all activity until we could sit down and discuss what is taking place. I also asked that all of the financials be available so that we can review. I received an email back saying that she was releasing herself from my case and I had a refund of $65. I will be talking to anyone and everyone that will listen about what a horrible experience I had with her. All around horrible experience. You get what you pay for.

We just revised our wills, designated durable powers of attorney to manage our estate, and serve as a safety net, should we become unable to manage. Michelle Ahrens provided excellent advice and combined professionalism with personability - the kind of experience you so often hope for but seldom encounter. Her paralegal, Diane Moore was extremely helpful with our questions and document needs. We recommend this team highly.

Michele Ahrens is an extremely knowledgable attorney who made the legal world easier for me to understand, always listened intently to my questions, offered her expert advice and kept me up to date on what was happening with my case. She was always easy to reach and was prompt in getting back to me and communicating with me. Michele helped me through my divorce and when a mistake was made, due to no fault of Michele's, after my divorce was final, Michele was able to make the correction to everyone's satisfaction. I had previously reviewed Michelle last year after my divorce was finalized. I should have waited to review considering 1. The restraining order against my ex in my divorce decree was not filled out correctly, so technically it wouldn't hold up in court. When my ex did violate the restraining order it was the police who told me the restraining order was basically not enforceable because it was not filled out correctly. (I should have recognized the red flag as during the divorce I was consistently editing her paperwork, but hindsight is 20/20). When I brought this to her attention, she told me she would have to re-file and it would cost me more money. So money, I would have to pay because her office lacks attention to detail. 2. After the divorce she had told me I had a case to change the parenting plan. So we filed a motion. When my ex put up a stink, she actually said to me, ' this is why I didn't think you should do this'. Not ONCE did she ever say that to me. I had to bite my tongue as we were already months into it and wouldn't help to argue. So, after months of pursuing changing the plan she had me withdraw. Of course, after withdrawing my ex got himself a lawyer and tried to finally have his supervised visits without following up on the other parenting plan conditions. When I pushed back Michelle basically said I need to let him have supervised visits regardless if he followed through on the other conditions. This surprised me as why were those conditions in the parenting plan in the first place? Finally, afters weeks of going back and forth with his lawyer, she tried to push me into a corner to acquiesce to my ex because she was going on vacation and his lawyer was threatening to file a motion of contempt on me. I still pushed back and told her I need to think about it and she told me she would call me back. However, two days went by and I hadn't heard from her, even after leaving her a voicemail. When I finally talked to the receptionist she told me Michelle went on vacation and NO ONE was covering her cases for her while she was out (even though Michelle assured me someone was covering). With that said, I immediately found another lawyer. While switching, I had to escalate to another lawyer within Michelle's firm to send an email to my ex's lawyer (an email I had to dictate verbatim to a lawyer who sounded irritated that he had to help me) to let my ex's attorney know that I am not trying to restrict my ex from visitation and that I am switching attorneys. With that said, within days of switching my new attorney got my ex's lawyer to start backing off, in fact my ex's lawyer withdrew from his case. The last straw I have with Michelle and this firm is I just called them as my files were never sent to my new lawyer, even though we requested those when I switched firms. They sent the copies today with a bill of $65. A bill, my new lawyer doesn't believe I should have to pay and a bill I wasn't told I was going to get. When I called to ask about it, I was told this is standard. Even if it is, it would have been nice to know I was going to get charged. No apology at all from them. With that said, if I could give 0 stars to this firm and to Michelle, I would. Michelle's legal advice seem to change based on what fit in her schedule. I didn't feel she fought to represent me or my best interests. On top of that, her lack of follow through and attention to detail were mediocre at best.

What a Criminal Defense Lawyer Can Do for You

A criminal defense lawyer provides legal representation to individuals or organizations accused of criminal conduct. If you're facing criminal charges, a defense lawyer will work to protect your rights, build a defense strategy, and ensure you receive a fair trial. Their primary goal is to reduce or dismiss charges, secure an acquittal, or negotiate a favorable plea deal.

Criminal defense lawyers have extensive knowledge of criminal law and court procedures. They investigate your case, identify weaknesses in the prosecution's evidence, and represent you in court, ensuring that you have the best possible defense.

When Should I Hire a Criminal Defense Lawyer?

It’s crucial to hire a criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible if you are facing any criminal charges. Some situations in which you should seek legal representation include:

  • Arrest or police questioning: If you've been arrested or are under investigation, hiring a lawyer early on can prevent self-incrimination and protect your rights during police questioning.
  • Felony charges: Crimes such as murder, assault, drug trafficking, or robbery carry severe penalties, including long prison sentences. A defense lawyer is essential in these cases.
  • Misdemeanor charges: Even for less serious offenses like DUI, theft, or simple assault, a lawyer can help reduce penalties, negotiate alternatives to jail, or get charges dismissed.
  • Plea negotiations: If you’re considering a plea bargain, a lawyer can evaluate the deal, advise you on its consequences, and negotiate for more favorable terms.
  • Probation or parole violations: If you’ve been accused of violating probation or parole, a lawyer can defend you against additional penalties or revocation.
  • Juvenile offenses: For minors charged with criminal acts, a criminal defense lawyer can protect their future by minimizing legal repercussions or keeping the case in juvenile court.

What Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Do?

Criminal defense lawyers provide comprehensive legal services to protect their clients’ rights throughout the criminal justice process. Their duties include:

  • Case evaluation and investigation: Reviewing the evidence, interviewing witnesses, and investigating the facts to develop a strong defense strategy.
  • Legal advice: Advising you on your rights, the charges you’re facing, and potential defense strategies, including whether to take a plea deal or go to trial.
  • Negotiating plea bargains: Working with prosecutors to negotiate a plea deal that could reduce charges or minimize penalties.
  • Court representation: Representing you in all court hearings, including bail hearings, pretrial motions, trials, and sentencing hearings.
  • Filing motions: Filing motions to dismiss charges, suppress evidence, or reduce bail, depending on the specifics of your case.
  • Trial preparation and defense: Preparing a defense strategy and presenting arguments, evidence, and witnesses during trial to contest the prosecution's case.
  • Appeals: If you are convicted, a defense lawyer can appeal the conviction or sentence, arguing errors in the trial process or legal rulings.

How Are Criminal Defense Lawyers Paid?

Criminal defense lawyers generally charge clients in one of three ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: For straightforward cases (e.g., minor misdemeanors), some lawyers charge a one-time flat fee that covers all aspects of the defense.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing cases, lawyers may charge by the hour, with rates varying based on the lawyer’s experience and geographic location.
  • Retainer fee: In cases where extensive work is expected, the client may pay a retainer fee upfront. The lawyer then bills against that retainer for their work on the case.

The cost of criminal defense services can vary greatly, so it’s important to discuss fees during your initial consultation.

How Much Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a criminal defense lawyer depends on several factors, including the severity of the charges, the complexity of the case, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost guidelines are:

  • Misdemeanor cases: For relatively minor offenses, such as a DUI or petty theft, a flat fee may range from $1,500 to $5,000.
  • Felony cases: More serious charges, such as assault or drug trafficking, can range from $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the complexity and duration of the case.
  • Hourly rates: For cases billed by the hour, lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on their expertise and the case's location.
  • Additional expenses: You may also be responsible for other costs, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, or the cost of private investigators.

Be sure to clarify the lawyer’s fee structure and any potential additional costs during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Criminal Defense Lawyer

Before hiring a criminal defense lawyer, you’ll want to ensure that they’re a good fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has a strong track record with the specific type of criminal charges you’re facing, whether it’s DUI, drug offenses, or violent crimes.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services and whether you’ll be responsible for any additional costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
A good lawyer should provide an honest assessment of your case and the likelihood of dismissal, a plea bargain, or conviction.
  4. How many cases have you taken to trial?
While many criminal cases settle with a plea deal, it’s important to hire a lawyer with courtroom experience in case your case goes to trial.
  5. Who will handle my case?
Ask if the lawyer will be personally involved or if other attorneys in the firm will handle most of the work.
  6. How do you communicate with your clients?
Be clear on how often and through what channels you can expect updates on your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Criminal Defense Lawyer

To verify the credibility of a criminal defense lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their standing with the state bar: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any past disciplinary actions or complaints.
  • Read online reviews and testimonials: Platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google can provide insights from previous clients about the lawyer’s communication, professionalism, and case outcomes.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should have past clients or other professionals who can speak to their competence and work ethic.
  • Review their case history: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to see their experience with criminal cases, including high-profile or complex cases.
  • Look for trial experience: If your case might go to trial, make sure the lawyer has a strong history of courtroom advocacy and success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your first consultation with a criminal defense lawyer, bring the following:

  • Details of your case: Be prepared to provide a detailed account of the charges against you, including any documents related to your arrest, police reports, and court dates.
  • Criminal history: If you have any prior criminal convictions, inform your lawyer so they can understand how that may affect your current case.
  • List of witnesses or evidence: If there are any potential witnesses or evidence that may support your defense, share this information during the consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare questions about their experience, legal strategy, and fees to ensure you understand how they will handle your case.
  • Bail or release documents: If you’ve been released on bail, bring any paperwork related to your release conditions or restrictions.

By being well-prepared, you can help your lawyer quickly assess your situation and begin building an effective defense strategy.
