My ex-spouse and I pretty much agreed on almost everything, but there were few minor details that we needed to iron out. Matthew was referred to us by a mutual friend and we were happy with the outcome. There was never any arguing and Matthew was a great resource for us. He patiently walked us through the divorce proceedings and answered every question we had. Having one mediator attorney as opposed to two attorneys made it much more affordable. I would recommend Matthew to anyone who wants a fair process.

I was a first time offender who had no idea what to do about it, until I called Mr. Makler. He was upfront, honest, and gave the vibe he truly wanted to help you and that you weren't just a paycheck. After hiring him, Mr. Makler and his team proved I made the right choice. They were attentive, informative, available, and overall turned what I thought was going to be a truly painful process, into something arguably painless. In the winter of 2024, I was unjustly charged with 6 felonies which were concocted by a vengeful group of bad players. Brilliant defense lawyer, Bill Makler, dedicated himself to extricating me from this precarious farce.
Like the proverbial dog with a bone, Bill unrelentingly pursued my case for months, ricocheting between courts and behind-the-scenes legal negototiations. Due to Bill's vast knowledge of the law, masterly legal strategies and undeniable tact, my charges were reduced to two benign misdemeanors.
In a word, he made a miracle happen.

Greg McMurray was a great find! A lawyer with impeccable credentials, known and respected by local lawyers and judges, with an approachable communication style that puts the client at ease while still conveying all the important information, extremely knowledgeable about the law, and experienced in how best to advocate for his clients. I wish I had found him sooner! He is worth every penny (saved me lots of money in the end). I would have used him in my family law case if I had known about him earlier.
Greg defended me in a criminal case that resulted in all charges being dropped and my record left clear. It was a result that I deserved, but didn't believe I would receive. Mr. McMurray was my lawyer back in December of 2010 when I was arrested by the SB County Sheriff's department. I won't go into details, but I was in serious trouble and looking at some time behind bars.
In short I began to turn my life around I got myself into some local programs to deal with my personal problems. Taking Mr. McMurray's advice I worked hard to improve my situation. Mr. McMurray was truthful and helpful through the entire process, including giving me a payment plan option which helped a lot. Because legal trouble can be expensive outside of hiring a lawyer. He went to bat for me with the DA and the Judge because I fulfilled my promise to keep myself on track. I ended up avoiding jail time all together and I haven't looked back since. Alcohol was a part of my story and I've been sober ever since in part due to Mr. McMurray and his work on my behalf. Simply put he was my advocate and he helped me present my case as someone who needed help, got it and then as someone who needed a chance to make good and I can happily say he got me a second chance.

I was snagged by a checkpoint in Santa Barbara, CA when driving home from a concert on a Sunday evening. I had drank 3 beers during the 3 hours of the concert and just had a slight buzz, yet I blew a 0.09% BAC. Even though I performed well on the field sobriety test, the officer must have had a quota to meet or something like that, since he cited me for a DUI.
I needed to minimize this citation so I went looking for a DUI lawyer. A friend whom Alan had helped in a similar situation recommended Alan to me. As soon as I gave Alan the details of my case he sprang into action immediately, even before I had actually retained him. I was impressed from the get-go and was pleased to hear that his retainer fee was reasonably priced and covered my complete defense.
Alan was able to get the charge down to a "wet reckless" and informed me that there was a good chance that he could prevent my license from getting suspended or restricted in any way. After it was all said and done, he did indeed prevent any driving suspension or restrictions, and I have to attend just 12 hours of DUI class over a 6 week period instead of the usual 3 months of classes.
He told me that he used a novel defense tactic that he had pioneered in Santa Barbara many years ago, and he knew all the DAs and Judges in Santa Barbara, which helped him avoid the DA who wouldn't agree to the tactic by getting my court date deferred to a day which had a different DA. This new DA did accept the proposal offered by Alan, pleasing me greatly since I didn't think I'd be able to minimize the charge as he did.
Alan was confident and reassuring throughout the ordeal. He boasted that he was very good at minimizing DUI penalties, and sure enough, he was right. He's a cocky lawyer, which is exactly what you want in a lawyer.

After receiving a subpoena to testify in a criminal case, I hired Steve. Although I wasn't called, he was there, and explained everything I needed to know. Afterwards, I had many questions, and Steve was always patient, thoughtful, and gave me excellent advice whenever I called or emailed him. He is not coin-operated, as other attorneys are - he's from a better era than most, a Marine, with the wise, legal mind of a brilliant attorney who actually cares about justice, not lining his pockets. Doug was upfront with me from our initial consultation and saw my cxase through from beginning to end. Unlike many other criminal defense attorneys, Doug doesn't try and pull this "extra fee required if you are held to answer after your Prelim Hearing." When he quotes you your fee, that is the fee regardless of whether your case goes to trial or is settled beforehand. Doug gets the job done and is nothing but honest and upfront with his clients all the way. I highly recommend him to anyone who finds themselves in legal trouble here in Santa Barbara.

Bob was handled our case for my daughter who was injured in a car accident. We were basically satisfied with the work, however based on how Bob explained his fee structure to us, we felt that we were lied to and cheated. We tried to have an honest discussion with Bob-it didn't go very well. It is our opinion that we caught Bob in a lie when he told us his assistant Wendy was in the conference room when he explained the fee structure percentage. My family is positive Wendy was not there- so obviously why Wendy would not confirm to us that she was present. We are hopeful that Bob will have the professional integrity and make this right.
