If you are in need of consistently aggressive, calculated and very professional advocacy, Wallin and Klarich is the law firm that you should go to. I understand, it is terrifying to be in a situation wherein you are accused specially if you have not have not had experience with the legal system before, so looking for strong lawyers will be your best defense.
Our story with Wallin and Klarich started when we had a serious accusation thrown at a family member. I called them on a Saturday evening, left a message; I immediately got a call from Jonathan Lynn, one of their senior lawyers who made an appointment with us even on a Sunday. He then referred us to one of the partners of the firm, Matthew Wallin, and after our first meeting, we knew that we were starting off on the right path in having this firm at our side.
Matt was always there for us. I know he is a top rated lawyer who handles a lot of cases, but he never made us feel that our case was any less serious or less important. He was always prompt, detailed, pro-active and he was always respectful. Contrary to what a few negative reviewers post here, this firm never made us feel that our case was about money first. I actually had to ask them several times to review the retainer since I really felt that they were spending so much time on our case vs. what we were paying for. Matt is a very strong advocate and he really cares about his clients. He acted as a confidant, coach, lawyer, mentor during our darkest and most trying times. Like I always said to him, his advocacy is much more than whatever money we can pay for. His service, his care, his diligence is unsurpassed. I have heard horror stories from other families about how badly they were treated by their law firms and honestly, if I would just say out loud to those having problems, go to Wallin and Klarich.
On a personal note to Matt and his team, thank your work and your firm. It is because of people like you, that people get a fighting chance to defend themselves and be presumed innocent first in the eyes of the law. I was pulled over for doing donuts in an empty dirt lot, and the police officer told me I would get something in the mail. Almost a year later, I got a court summons telling me I was to be charged with misdemeanor reckless driving and vandalism. Adding insult to injury, the DA’s office made me court date AFTER I had moved out of state for school! After consulting with and retaining Matt Wallin, I could not be happier with the outcome. He represented me and kept me updated with all relevant info, and was very professional. Mr. Wallin eventually got both charges dropped and the case dismissed. Considering I could have been facing jail time, a nasty fine and a license suspension, this could not have gone any better for me. A big thank you to Mr. Matt Wallin and the entire team!

After having a legal matter pending for 8 years , having tried out 2 pricey attorneys before Douglas , I had lost faith that i would be able to get my matter resolved. I was an international student at the time i was charged with 2 counts of felony and due to unfortunate circumstances had to leave the country before being able to resolve my case.
My co-defendant introduced me to Douglas who never gave me any unreal expectations and gave it to me as real as possible , my previous attorney that I had retained from overseas wasnt even able to get hearing date saying “its a catch 22 you need to be here” . Not only was Douglas able to get the ball rolling he was able to contact the people who pressed charges , come up with a deal , and get the charges dismissed completely.
Till this day I remember i was in utter disbelief when i got the short and to the point email saying “Good news your case has been dismissed” . 8 years worth of emotional and financial stress had come to an end only thanks to Douglas .

I write this letter of deep appreciation and high recommendation for Marlin Stapleton, Jr.! Not only is Marlin an outstanding criminal defense attorney, but he is also well-respected and admired in the Orange County courts, has a larger-than-life personality, and has an unusually big heart!
My son is intellectually disabled. As a result of his disability, and the medication he was prescribed, my son got into very serious legal trouble where he could have been put in jail for many years. My son was extremely terrified of going to jail, a place where he clearly didn’t belong and where he would have been targeted and severely abused because of his disability.
Marlin has experience with intellectually disabled clients. Marlin has a rare understanding that intellectually disabled persons think and understand differently than what the law and the courts are normally set up to handle.
Thankfully, Marlin took my son’s case. Marlin was very clear to us and our son about the difficulty of the situation and how we should deal with it. With Marlin’s big heart, he developed a kind and friendly relationship to our son. Although the legal process took a while, by working with the judge and the DA, Marlin was able to arrange a satisfactory solution that kept our son out of jail.
As a result, our son is in a much better place today. He has substantially improved in his outlook and behavior, is on better medications, and has successfully worked through many of his issues. He now has a part-time job, is mentally healthy, and has had no recurring offenses. Without Marlin’s incredible legal skills and big heart, I believe our son would not have survived.
We owe a great deal of gratitude to Marlin for his excellent work in support of our son.

I am thankful and grateful to Mr. Stapleton for representing my special needs adult son who was put on a restraining order by the courts and subject to criminal prosecution and/or placement in an institution. Although, we believed the case had no merits, we were faced with a seemingly insurmountable task of not knowing how to maneuver through the court system and found ourselves seemingly at the mercy of the courts. We considered ourselves more as a bystander without the ability to advocate for our adult child with a permanent disability. Fear began to set in as we thought we might have to accept the outcome of the behind the scenes negotiations between the district attorney, the public defendant, and the judges.
Mr. Stapleton stepped in to represent our son at a critical and stressful time. Through his knowledge, adept negotiating skills and actions, the entire case took a different direction very quickly. Our hopes were uplifted as we saw progress in a different and positive direction. Today all the charges against our disabled son have been dismissed.

Marlin Stapleton Jr. is a great attorney and one of the finest people I have ever met. The first lawyer we hired was not able to negotiate any favorable results for my son. My son was charged with four felonies (DUI and hit and run) and was facing 4 to 5 years in prison. We were facing a situation that appeared completely hopeless and impossible to overcome. We were desperate and sought the services of one of the best high profile attorneys we could find. He was booked full and said the only attorney he recommended for our case was Marlin Stapleton Jr. He said Marlin is highly regarded by fellow attorneys, DA’s, and judges alike. He sure was right about that. During the years Marlin handled our case, we also found out how well known and respected Marlin was with outside agencies as well.
The combination of his professionalism, demeanor, and personality gave us hope during that stressful time for our family. We were confident with Marlin and thankful we had found the best attorney there was. Marlin created an action plan that went above and beyond anything we ever expected. My mom and dad (best parents ever!) Decided to hire Barry for my cases. I just found out, Barrys first name is James! Wow! Well i ended up getting 4 months in LA county for not signing up for a DV class (at time was homeless, and currently still homeless!) . What a great job. Oh i also got a DUI , but not only did we not fight it (no officers ever saw me drive) but i did 3 days in county during my 4 month sentence, and i still have to tak dui classes (they lock me inside for 2 hours) and substance abuse classes, which is great, because i am still wondering where my 2011 cadillac escalade is that my mom possibly stole from me , and my audi A6 too... but hey, who cares because i am just so ecstatic i ate dinner tonight(oh wait no dinner, i got fat so i gotta no eat now. Thanks again today to my psych eval (and my call back from my regular psychs call back center) thanks Depakote!

In 2012 our family was involved in a rear end accident on the 210 freeway. Both my wife and daughter were taken to the hospital via ambulance. The individual that struck our vehicle was uninsured; therefore, we were forced to file a claim with our own insurance company. Our insurance company did not want to pay us a fair settlement, so we retained attorney Connor for our uninsured motorist claim. To date the attorney has been awesome.

Will Bruzzo is honest, reliable, responsible, savvy, confident, flexible, knowledgeable, reassuring, calm,
experienced, communicative, supportive, patient and well-connected. What set Will apart initially, was that he was the only attorney that responded to me virtually immediately after I submitted a contact form. He listened to me and didn’t judge my behavior nor actions. After becoming familiar with what
transpired, he developed a plan – a reasonable plan based on the circumstances and evidence. As the
process unfolded, at each decision point, he described the possible outcomes and then recommended that he believed was the best course of action - but always allowed me to make the final decision on
which way (when and how) to go. He was never patronizing and was careful to never over-promise. He always answered my texts, emails and phone calls in a timely manner. I never felt that he was “aloof,” avoiding me, too busy or difficult to reach. I never felt that he “didn’t care.” While I went through multiple emotional stages (anger, frustration, confusion, helplessness, impatience, uncertainty, etc.), he remained resolved that his plan would work. He never promised that his plan would be 100% successful, but he laid it out clearly and stuck to it. He knew most of the other players (judges, DAs and courtroom staff) and they knew him. Over time, he has become familiar with how specific judges decide on certain
issues. Some judges are more lenient in certain areas, while others are more strict. He combined this experiential knowledge with his patient and methodical manner to guide me to the best possible outcome. In the end, his plan worked – exactly how he said it would. He would probably be the first to
say that my case could have gone any number of other ways, but it was no accident that the plan he laid out came together just as we both had hoped.
Regarding money, it's hard to tell if Will's fees were appropriate or excessive, because I didn't have time to "shop around." Could I have "saved money" by hiring someone else? Maybe. But you never know if someone else will charge less upfront, but then nickel and dime you to death later on. Will had a fixed fee that I thought was pretty high, but looking back, his services (and his character) were worth every penny.
Will Bruzzo is a straight-shooter, does what he says, and is a man of his word. Tough to put a price tag on that.

She doesn’t work in Tustin office often. Difficulty getting appointment. Her advice, mediocre.
Example: Recommended that we set up LLC through a different state for our rentals to make lawsuits difficult but when lawsuit actually became reality, no benefit. Filing has to be done for California and different state (extra work).
Once trust is set up, any modifications will take months to coordinate. Not much money involved in modifications so least priority.
Office workers are not well trained.

I have taken some time before posting this to give myself time to calm down from the horrible experience I had with unlock legal and Miranda. Understand how one bad review can hurt your business annd I did not want to do this to hurt annyone, but to prevent someone else in a vulnerable position like myself from the same misguided council I had. I originally retained Unlock legal in 2021 for assistance with my nursing license. The original attorney assigned to my case(Melissa Dupree) was amazing but by the time I had paid the retainer and was ready to move forward she was no longer with unlock legal(took me about 8 months to pay the 10k). Once I had paid them I consistently asked for updates and no one knew a thing…For nearly a year I pleaded with them to get my documents ready for submission to the licensing board. Miranda took over my case and I hoped with her experience it would be a good change. I was wrong. She knew NOTHING about me or my case. Her petition was not reflective of the work I’d done and was not aligned with what my original councils strategy was and the reason I went with this firm in the first place. I was denied licensure. And Miranda’s response was “sorry” - complete devastation. I received no counsel and was blown off from the time they received my last payment. (They were VERY responsive when my monthly payments were due) Then I learned I could have and should have appealed and that was the normal next step. They did NOT tell me that. They also didn’t tell me that legislation changed and sealed records could not be used to deny licensure. Had I waited a few more months for my record to seal, I would have not been denied. Now I’m on the NPDB, no license and I spent all of my savings on this horrible firm. I have never despised an attorney as much as I despise unlock legal. They are incompetent, uncompassionate and negligent. Do not hire them, you would be better off doing it on your own. Thanks again for nothing Unlock legal not only did you not help me in any way, you actually caused my professional career more harm and should be ashamed of yourselves. It’s been almost a year and I’m still cleaning up the mess this firm got me in. And to think I paid them to essentially screw me over. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM.

He listened to me and didn’t judge my behavior nor actions. After becoming familiar with what
transpired, he developed a plan – a reasonable plan based on the circumstances and evidence. As the
process unfolded, at each decision point, he described the possible outcomes and then recommended that he believed was the best course of action - but always allowed me to make the final decision on
which way (when and how) to go. He was never patronizing and was careful to never over-promise. He always answered my texts, emails and phone calls in a timely manner. Regarding money, it's hard to tell if Will's fees were appropriate or excessive, because I didn't have time to "shop around." Could I have "saved money" by hiring someone else? Maybe. But you never know if someone else will charge less upfront, but then nickel and dime you to death later on. Will had a fixed fee that I thought was pretty high, but looking back, his services (and his character) were worth every penny.
Will Bruzzo is a straight-shooter, does what he says, and is a man of his word. Tough to put a price tag on that.
