KYLE was FINALLY that ONE attorney who wasn’t all about taking my money as his first priority. Kyle was very empathetic & thorough when it came to answering each & every one of my questions. KYLE is very honest & forthcoming with information. He is very “no-nonsense” & did not sugar coat things. After having experienced a grueling, more then expensive, unethical experiences with my two former attorneys on the same case matters…. I FINALLY found KYLE INGRAM! Look no more. He’s YOUR guy! I want to take this opportunity to THANK YOU for the OUTSTANDING COUNSEL that you have provided from the start to the present moment. I have learned SO MUCH from your knowledge of the EEO Process and the tactics that discriminators exercise against their victims. Your guidance and mentorship on how to focus on the important aspects of a case as well as how to convey my experiences proved invaluable in my complex situation. I could not have been able to effectively articulate my Formal EEO Submission without you. More importantly, I appreciate your honesty throughout the process in gaining extended litigation support. You are an AWESOME ATTORNEY and heaven sent. Should anyone be in need of an attorney that will provide ground truth in the EEO Process, guidance on articulating your claims (the most important aspect of your case), and requires a thorough review of your case in an effort to point you to where you can locate the explicit details of your claims or when the start of your discriminatory tactics are being exercised against you, Kyle Ingram is the Man for the job. You will not be disappointed. God Bless and may Justice be served to all those that Discriminate against innocent victims.

I have a disability EEO case with my workplace. So far, through consultation, I've spoken to Kyle twice and he is very thorough. He went above and beyond to make sure I understood the strong points of my case and gave me realistic advice/ expectations. He is going to make sure you make the most out of your time and money. Also, he is very knowledgeable about EOO complaints and workplace discrimination. Moving forward, I know exactly what I need to do. My case is still in the early stages, so I may not need to retain him, but if I do, I feel good about where my money is going and know I'll have great representation.

I contacted Dave when my former employer violated my severance agreement. Dave helped guide me through a difficult negotiation, one in which I was forced to accept a "less bad" outcome for the sake of moving on with my life. David quickly assimilated the facts, worked with me in thinking through the trade-offs between litigating and settling, and helped me get the matter resolved through settlement before I incurred large-scale fees.

Mr. King successfully represented me in a complicated employment related case. The time difference between the United States and my overseas location was not an obstacle for Mr. King who was always available 24/7. Mr. King explained each step of the lengthy legal process, always answered my questions with complete honesty and in plain English (not attorney terminology), ensuring that I understood. In addition, Mr. King is a skilled mediator. Mr. King is unique. He cares about his clients and really does go the “extra mile”.

Dr. King was recommended as a good lawyer by a colleague and friend. Dr. King during the negotiations with the American agency brought to fruition what we wanted to obtain. Not only did he behave as an appropriate lawyer on the issues, but also as a person who gets involved in the issues and people he represents. He personally was always worried about me, since my wife had passed away due to an accident during the negotiations.

I had a great pleasure working with Mr. Lloyd. He was assigned to my case after the passing of Mr. Joseph Kaplan. He quickly got acquainted with my case and started asking the right questions. He included me in all communications and provided timely responses to the agency. He is friendly, diplomatic, calm, and has a great ability to deliver a message in a clear, compelling, and concise manner. I experienced first-hand all the qualities and traits he exhibits. Mr. Lloyd is an astute attorney who has compassion for his clients, willingness to listen, great judgment, excellent communication skills, a proven track record, the necessary experience and knowledge, and a deep understanding of the law. I trust him and trust his judgment and believe he has everything a client needs in his/her journey to pursue justice. Mr. LIoyd provided honest opinions even though that – at times – was not necessarily what I wanted to hear, nor did they represent the best outcome for his bottom-line. Still, he believed it is in my best interest to listen to the truth. He put my interests above others and clearly understood the financial burden associated with my legal fight. Mr. Lloyd is very responsive. He answered my e-mails on the same day or the next day. Additionally, he is strategic and understands the rules of the game. He is an exceptional and well-respected lawyer, and he was unstintingly generous with his wise counsel and sympathetic ears. I strongly recommend Mr. Lloyd to Federal Employees who endured injustices by their agencies. He has a passion for serving justice and be a voice for those who been victimized by injustices. He is someone you can trust, rely on, and rest assured that he will do everything within his power to fight for you and be on your side until justice is served.

I truly can't say enough good things about Jason and his team - they are incredibly effective, professional, and consistently wonderful to work with, even in very high-pressure circumstances. Jason and his colleagues were exceptionally patient with and responsive to my concerns, consulting with me on every step of the process and explaining different options. Beyond their impeccable legal representation and client advocacy, I also felt personally cared for and supported during what was a particularly nightmarish experience of workplace harassment. I hired Mr Zuckerman to pursue an action against a former employer that was attempting to use deceit in its pursuit of federal contracts, and which fired me for not participating in its schemes. Jason was not just very responsive, he was also engaging, spending a good deal of time and effort with me on the phone and by email learning the ins and outs of the case, discussing strategy, laying out alternatives, anticipating counter-arguments, etc, all with the highest integrity. In the end, Jason was able to negotiate a substantial settlement for me, and I believe the company learned not to fire employees for failing to participate in lying to the government. All in all, a very good outcome. I have had the opportunity in my career to interact with numerous attorneys. Jason truly stands out. Mr. Passman was extremely thorough, honest, fair, professional and always looked out for my best interest. Mr. Passman’s billing is beyond fair as he does not nickel and dime his hourly billing. Frankly, I have no idea how I would ever have managed the process without him. Matt is a master of the specifics of the social security system and its many players. Calling Jonathan Puth was the best move I could have made. Concerned that my boss might want to let me go, Jonathan prepared me for my meeting with the Managing Partner of my firm. He told me what to say, and more importantly, what not to say. I was able to go into, what was supposed to be, my performance review, feeling calm and ready to deal with whatever transpired. Jonathan continued to be wise, caring, patient, and willing to discuss any concerns or issues that I was trying to navigate. His counsel was incredibly effective. I was able to maintain my confidence and self-worth as I sat across the table from my employer who would have benefitted from me feeling vulnerable and unprepared. As Jonathan provided guidance that supported me through preparing a response to my employer and negotiating a severance package, I’m certain that his assistance put me in a position of being able to secure a generous severance package and I did not even need to argue with them. Without working with Jonathan I don’t think my employer would have come to the conclusion that they did which was that it would be better for them to be generous, than having to enter into a prolonged and difficult negotiation where they risked paying even more. If you are in need of a great lawyer, Jonathan will do a fantastic job for you.

I hired Jim after a very detailed and thorough consultation, and after having consulted with other attorneys it was clear that Jim had the best level of understanding the nuances of my complex case. As a former political appointee at an old government agency, we are often conditioned that have no rights as we "work at the pleasure of the President". In my case, I was being coerced and forced into quitting my job in retaliation after I raised concerns (both formally and informally) of repeated racial discrimination against myself and other colleagues of my race. Jim asked very detailed questions, meticulously reviewed all information he asked me to provide, spoke with credible witnesses, and worked on my behalf to level ensure I was not left out to dry while also sparing this agency a very public lawsuit. Jim's confidence in my case combined with his professionalism, patience, diligence, compassion, and pragmatism helped me navigate one of the hardest periods of my career and life in general. He was also extremely responsive to all calls, emails, and texts and his team at his law office were very hospitable, kind, patient, understanding, and professional. I received the reference for Attorney Jim Eisenmann following notice that post retirement from federal service I was being investigated. Since I had almost no information or context regarding this investigation there was little information that I could provide during my consult with Jim. Jim skillfully steered me to what I did know or suspected and based on that information he was able to extrapolate possible scenarios. Having no previous experience in matters such as this, Jim took the time to explain the law, outlined in clear language the steps in the process. Identified unknown variables and implications for those. He responded to every email and question quickly and precisely. I feel extremely lucky to have Attorney Eisenmann on my side.

In 2015, I was asked by my medical school to leave the M.D. program citing my academic under-performance. At that time, I had serious family obligations, due to which I could not fully dedicate my time at the school. I could not take time off of school either because my 'green card' application was still pending-- anything that would jeopardize my immigration status in the US would possibly affect my green card approval. Despite my numerous attempts, I had not been able to get an appointment with a physician at the medical school's student clinic. Later, I found out that the months of delay in referral to a psychiatrist was because of clerical incompetence at the clinic, who was later fired of the job. In February 2015, I was diagnosed with moderately severe depression and moderate anxiety and put on medication by a physician's assistant (PA), after I my plea to see any medical profession at the clinic. Soon after, I was able to see an actual psychiatrist due to urgent referral of the PA. The psychiatrist, after evaluating my situations, wrote a 4-page long letter to the medical school for a 'medical leave of absence'. The school took another 2 months, sending my case from committee to committee, to finally dismissing me from the school sticking to the academic under-performance reason. They made these decisions without letting me testify in person, even though I was allowed to do so before the official MLOA was submitted. This is when I was able to get a hold of Karen Bower. Under her consultation, I requested my educational records from the university, including all the communication among individuals at the medical school, relating to the decision of dismissal. It was discovered that the committees believed that I made up stories to make a case, and that they did not believe the complex situation I was under because of family and immigration issues. It was under Karen's guidance that I finally put a complaint under the Office of Civil Rights at the Department of Education. Since, I am still pursuing to go to a medical school, I did not want to take it to the courts, and wanted to get it over with, I ended up signing a resolution agreement that changed my 'dismissal' to 'withdrawal' but would prevent me from applying to the same medical school again. This was the best resolution given the circumstances I was in, and I thank Karen for pushing me to make it happen. On a personal level, I want to thank you, Karen, for being there for me, when it seemed like the whole world was against me.

Ross represented me, a federal employee who had worked for a financial regulatory agency. Five years after the original incident, an EEOC Judge issued a notice finding discrimination and found the Agency discriminated against me based on my disability in connection with its failure to accommodate me and constructive discharge during my probationary period. Ross Fishbein, worked tirelessly on the case for nearly three years and helped negotiate a settlement agreement with the agency for $425,000 to compensate me for back pay, expenses I incurred, and payment of full attorney fees. The settlement was just before the hearing on damages and was likely a better outcome than an EEOC-ordered reinstatement. Ross is professional, compassionate, and extremely well-informed. The EEOC judge commended him for his strong writing skills and hearing presentations. He met all deadlines and did an excellent job. He took the time to explain the different legal strategies, listened to me as a client, and provided advice, presented possible outcomes, all while leaving the decisions on the development and settlement in my hands. I would highly Ross to other federal employees needing advice and a winning team to represent them. Kristin Alden and Ross Fishbein represented me at the EEOC. Thank you so much!!

I hired Ross to represent me with my EEO case against the government and he did a great job. Ross is an intelligent, hard-working, honest attorney that always made himself available. During my case, Ross demonstrated that he was concerned about my work life and how things would affect me after the case was complete (besides just a payout) which meant a lot to me. At one point during the case, my Agency's attorney tried to make excuses for their behavior and poke holes in my case, which was pretty infuriating and disrespectful. Ross was professional and he successfully destroyed the other attorney with solid case law and I was proud to have him on my side. In conclusion, I would highly recommend hiring Ross Fishbein if you plan to take on the government. Expect a long upward and unfair fight. I know it can be difficult to know where to turn when you are wronged and you will feel alone. Ross won a settlement with my case and I know he will do his best for you too.

Janei is one of the best attorneys I have ever had the pleasure of working with. She took over my case about half way through and I could not have asked for a better representative. Janei brings a wealth of knowledge with her, and fierce attitude that one expects out of a great attorney. Janei guided me through all of the particulars of my case and got me an amazing outcome. Anytime an issue arose with my case, she presented with excellent solutions, and a thorough understanding of the EEOC process. I would highly recommend Janei to anyone looking for an attorney to represent them in any dealings with the EEOC or discrimination process.

What a Discrimination Lawyer Can Do for You

A discrimination lawyer specializes in handling cases where individuals or groups face unfair treatment based on protected characteristics, such as race, gender, age, religion, national origin, disability, or sexual orientation. These lawyers assist clients in filing discrimination claims, representing them in legal proceedings, and ensuring that their rights under federal, state, and local laws are upheld. Discrimination cases may arise in employment, housing, education, public accommodations, or other settings.

Whether you’ve been discriminated against at work, denied housing, or treated unfairly in other areas of life, a discrimination lawyer can help you navigate the legal process and seek compensation or corrective action.

When Should I Hire a Discrimination Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a discrimination lawyer in several situations where unfair treatment occurs based on protected characteristics. Common scenarios include:

  • Employment Discrimination:
    • Workplace discrimination: If you’ve been treated unfairly at work because of your race, gender, disability, religion, age, sexual orientation, or another protected status, a lawyer can help you file a claim with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or a similar state agency.
    • Wrongful termination: If you were fired due to discrimination or retaliation for reporting discriminatory behavior, a lawyer can assist with filing a lawsuit and seeking compensation for lost wages, emotional distress, and other damages.
    • Failure to promote: If you’ve been denied a promotion or opportunities due to discriminatory practices, a lawyer can investigate the claim and represent you in legal actions against your employer.
    • Harassment: If you’ve experienced workplace harassment, such as sexual harassment or a hostile work environment based on your race, gender, or other characteristics, a lawyer can help you pursue legal remedies.
  • Housing Discrimination:
    • Denial of housing: If you’ve been denied housing due to your race, disability, family status, or other protected factors, a lawyer can help you file a complaint with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) or sue the landlord or property manager for violating the Fair Housing Act.
    • Unfair rental practices: If a landlord or property manager treats you unfairly based on discriminatory factors (e.g., refusing reasonable accommodations for a disability), a lawyer can help you enforce your rights.
  • Education Discrimination:
    • Discrimination in schools: If you or your child has faced discrimination in an educational setting based on race, disability, gender, or religion, a lawyer can help you file complaints under laws like Title VI, Title IX, or the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  • Public Accommodations:
    • Denial of services: If a business or public service has discriminated against you based on race, gender, disability, or other protected characteristics, a lawyer can assist you in filing a complaint or lawsuit under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or other anti-discrimination laws.

Hiring a discrimination lawyer early can help protect your rights and ensure that your claim is filed within legal deadlines.

What Does a Discrimination Lawyer Do?

A discrimination lawyer provides a range of legal services to help individuals and groups fight against discriminatory practices. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Filing discrimination claims: A lawyer can help you file a complaint with government agencies, such as the EEOC, HUD, or your state’s human rights commission. They ensure that your claim is properly documented and filed within required time limits.
  • Investigating discrimination claims: Discrimination lawyers gather evidence, interview witnesses, and review documents to build a strong case for proving discriminatory practices.
  • Negotiating settlements: In many cases, a lawyer can negotiate a settlement with the employer, landlord, or other party involved in the discrimination case, seeking compensation or corrective action without going to trial.
  • Representing clients in court: If your case goes to court, a lawyer will represent you during hearings, present evidence, and argue your case before a judge or jury.
  • Handling retaliation claims: If you face retaliation for filing a discrimination complaint or reporting discriminatory practices, a lawyer can help you pursue a retaliation claim.
  • Advising on legal rights: A discrimination lawyer explains your legal rights under federal and state anti-discrimination laws, such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the ADA, the Fair Housing Act, and others.

How Are Discrimination Lawyers Paid?

Discrimination lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the expected duration of the legal process. Common payment structures include:

  • Contingency fee: Many discrimination lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle the case. Their fee is usually a percentage of the settlement or court award, typically ranging from 25% to 40%.
  • Hourly rate: For cases that don’t involve a contingency fee arrangement, some lawyers charge by the hour. Hourly rates for discrimination lawyers generally range from $200 to $600 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and the case’s complexity.
  • Flat fee: For simpler legal tasks, such as drafting a discrimination complaint or providing legal advice, some lawyers may charge a flat fee.
  • Pro bono or reduced fees: Some discrimination lawyers offer pro bono (free) or reduced-fee services, especially in cases involving low-income clients or significant civil rights issues.

It’s important to discuss fee arrangements during your initial consultation to ensure that you understand the total cost of legal services and how payment will be handled.

How Much Does a Discrimination Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a discrimination lawyer depends on factors like the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the potential for a settlement or trial. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fees: If the lawyer works on a contingency basis, their fee will typically range from 25% to 40% of any settlement or court award. For example, if you win a settlement of $50,000 and the lawyer’s fee is 30%, they would receive $15,000, and you would keep the remaining $35,000.
  • Hourly rates: Discrimination lawyers who charge by the hour typically bill between $200 and $600 per hour. For example, a case that takes 20 hours of legal work at $300 per hour would cost $6,000 in legal fees.
  • Flat fees: Some legal services, such as filing a discrimination complaint or providing a legal consultation, may be available for a flat fee ranging from $500 to $2,500, depending on the complexity of the task.
  • Pro bono or sliding scale fees: In some cases, particularly for low-income individuals, lawyers may offer reduced fees or work pro bono.

Always ask for a detailed estimate of costs during your consultation, and clarify whether the lawyer offers flexible payment options.

Top Questions to Ask a Discrimination Lawyer

Before hiring a discrimination lawyer, it’s important to ask key questions to ensure they have the experience and qualifications to handle your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with discrimination cases?
Ensure that the lawyer has handled discrimination cases similar to yours, whether it involves employment, housing, or public accommodation discrimination.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a contingency fee, hourly rate, or flat fee, and ask for a detailed breakdown of costs.
  3. What are my chances of success?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of your case, including potential challenges and the likelihood of success.
  4. How long will the process take?
Discrimination cases can take time to resolve, so ask the lawyer how long they expect the process to take, from filing a complaint to reaching a settlement or going to trial.
  5. Will I need to go to court?
Ask whether your case is likely to settle out of court or if a trial may be necessary. If a trial is possible, ask what steps the lawyer will take to prepare.
  6. What damages or remedies can I seek?
Ask about the types of compensation or corrective action you can pursue, such as back pay, emotional distress damages, job reinstatement, or policy changes.
  7. What steps should I take to protect my rights?
Ask for advice on how to document evidence, handle workplace or housing interactions, and avoid retaliation while your case is pending.

How to Check the Credibility of a Discrimination Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable discrimination lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Check their bar status: Verify that the lawyer is licensed to practice law and in good standing with the state bar association. You can check this on your state bar’s website.
  • Look for discrimination case experience: Review the lawyer’s website or profile to ensure they specialize in employment law, civil rights, or discrimination cases and have successfully handled similar cases in the past.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about their experience with the lawyer.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on discrimination matters.
  • Check for certifications or memberships: Look for certifications or memberships in civil rights organizations or employment law associations, such as the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA).

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a discrimination lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Detailed account of the discrimination: Provide a clear description of the discriminatory actions, including dates, locations, and individuals involved. Document specific incidents and any witnesses who can support your claim.
  • Workplace or housing records: Bring copies of relevant employment or housing documents, such as job performance evaluations, rental agreements, emails, or written correspondence related to the discrimination.
  • Company or organization policies: If the discrimination occurred in the workplace or housing, bring copies of company policies, employee handbooks, or housing agreements that outline anti-discrimination policies.
  • Evidence of damages: Provide evidence of any financial losses, such as lost wages, job termination, or increased rent, as well as emotional or psychological distress caused by the discrimination.
  • Previous complaints or actions: If you’ve filed previous complaints or taken any action related to the discrimination, such as reporting the issue to HR or filing a complaint with a government agency, bring copies of those documents.
  • Questions about the process: Prepare a list of questions about your legal options, potential outcomes, and the lawyer’s approach to handling your case.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your situation more effectively and provide the best possible legal advice for pursuing your discrimination claim.
