Words can't even express the amount of gratitude I have for all of you. This court case has been so extremely stressful and I would have never gotten this far without you all! I woke up the day after court feeling such a relief and freedom, knowing I was finally heard in court and I feel like I'm finally capable of protecting my son the way I'm supposed to because of your help! Katrina, thank you so much for the multiple phone calls and emails and calming down my obsessive, projective mind. You always made me feel like I wasn't crazy and my feelings were valid and I knew anytime I spoke with you I'd feel better and you were always so on top of everything. Ms. James, thank you so much for all of the time and effort you spent doing what you do best. For sharing your confidence with me before court appearances when I was such a mess. For the amazing set of questions you asked me in court to let my whole story really be heard and for giving me a voice in court when I felt like I couldn't speak up for myself enough. You guys are all so amazing and I'm so grateful to have had you guys on my side for this battle.

I didn’t think I could hire an attorney due to my current circumstances, but All American Law made it happen! Both Attorneys Mr. Jeffries and Ms. James have been absolutely professional, understanding, and passionate throughout the entire process with my case. I know I wouldn’t be as happy with my case and situation if I didn’t hire AAL to help me. They are beyond worth everything you invest and pay for them to represent you 100%.

No doubt divorce is disruptive, emotionally and financially draining. The last thing you need to worry about is if your attorney is honest and looking out for your best interests. Mr Zitney is both honest and skilled. He listened to and understood what was important to me in the settlement. He presented me best and worst case scenarios and he immediately went to work. He represented me with dignity. MT his legal assistant/paralegal doesn't ever sleep! She kept me updated on the status of my case. Its been said a good divorce is when both sides lose. Thanks to Mr Zitney I got the best possible outcome, I got what was most important to me.

I came into contact with Rebecca by accident. I am dealing with a high-conflict child custody case in San Diego County. Very serious events have occurred which I do not want to share publicly that required assistance from Rebecca. Rebecca represents the Mother of a child my ex-wife has allegedly kidnapped. The child has been missing since November and is still missing. There are many different law enforcement agencies involved, as well as three different courts in three counties regarding child abduction. Rebecca has gone above and beyond to research issues related to this case and provide me and her client with guidance as it relates to informing the court of the facts and getting all counties and all law enforcement on the same page. Rebecca is intuitive and very smart. She is honest and exercises integrity when dealing with me and other people. Rebecca can be curt and straight to the point which initially threw me off. I felt her tone was aggressive with me. Then when I realized who she was and what part she plays in these cases; I understood her intensity. She literally cross-examined me when she found me. Yes, she found me! While doing research on her kidnapping case she traced several relatives of the alleged kidnapper. Rebecca has laser focus. I can imagine that is offputting to sensitive people who need hand-holding. Despite her initial aggressive and curt demeanor she has a huge heart and has the children's best interests at the top of her list. Due to her call, her conversation with my attorney, and her efforts to this day, I have full custody of my son after being alienated for over 6 months

I hired Rebecca to represent me in a high-conflict child custody case in Riverside. I was looking for an attorney that would stand up for me, and make all of my evidence known to the Judge. Rebecca filed motion after motion for me until the court finally made a decision in my favor. I am dealing with a severe parental alienation case. Rebecca fought hard so that the court would HEAR what I was trying to say. Communication with her office is very easy. The office’s procedures make it efficient and quick to get questions answered and get updates on my case. All documents are forwarded to me for review. The only issue is that Rebecca is on the pricier side. However, her reputation in the community, her relationships with everyone from the court staff to the janitor, make the court appearance so much less stressful. You really do pay for what you get. My prior attorney charged much less but I ended up paying just as much as Rebecca charges because their office was inefficient, disorganized, and just not up to my standards. It seems like that is the norm for most firms. Not Rebecca’s firm. Those girls are a team and it is evident that they work very well together. Rebecca knows the law cold. She thinks quickly on her feet and does not give up. Highly recommend.

Generally, I do not post personal detailed reviews, but Rebecca and her team deserve to be recognized for their tireless efforts. Just over a couple years ago, I frantically called for a semi-emergent after-hours consult, expecting to hear back from her the next day. Thankfully, Rebecca immediately sprang into action, responding later that day. With a few factual details, she knew exactly what to do and began handling my intense situation. I was scared and unsure of what I was doing but Rebecca and her firm guided me throughout the entire legal process. Rebecca was honest and compassionate but more importantly provided me the tough reality I needed to face. Rebecca and her amazing paralegal, Lisa, have maintained the same honesty, toughness, and compassion people need when they are going through a family law matter. Some things were tough to hear but this firm, there is no BS. Rebecca's focus has never dulled, even when there were legal roadblocks, the covid crisis, and inconvenient telephonic hearings. After the frustration, fear and tears on my end, Rebecca and Lisa helped me see things clearly and together prepared a settlement that finally put my nightmare to an end. I cannot thank Rebecca & Lisa (& Nicole!) enough, for being amazing and attentive to my situation. I strongly recommend hiring Rebecca for any of your family law needs. Her honesty, compassion, toughness, legal acumen, and no BS mentality will put you in a better position to put your family law issues behind you so you can start the next chapter in your life.

I had to find an Attorney pretty quickly, as we were in a time crunch to respond. I had read the reviews for the Richard K. Isles firm and was introduced to my now Attorney, Cora J. Dorado. She has been nothing but wonderful! There have been several instances when I have needed answers quickly, like within 1-2 hours, due to the other party not cooperating, and Cora has always responded in a timely manner. Her Paralegal, Leigh Collins, has been amazing as well, very professional and personable! They really do put the Clients first and have made it more of a pleasurable experience because of the personal relationship they have established with me. My case is still ongoing, but I wouldn't go to any other attorney than Cora, I feel like I am in the best hands and she is a very knowledgeable attorney, well beyond her years.

Kept second guessing myself when I considered switching attorneys but it turned out to be the best decision I made. The case manager at the first law office I hired was never available and even when he was he would tell me there were no updates. After 4 months of getting no where I called around and found Krasney Law. They ended up settling my case within 3 months!!

Contacted other law firms and they answered some of my questions but made me feel like I was being pushed to just hurry up and "sign up". Ultimately glad I went with them in the long run as the process was quick, easy and best of all stress free for me.

I can’t recommend Daniel Kolacia's law firm enough, and his wonderful assistant. After my DUI charge, I was feeling lost and anxious about what to do next. From the very first meeting, he was not only knowledgeable but also genuinely compassionate, taking the time to explain everything clearly. I followed his instructions to the letter, and I’m so glad I did. Thanks to his expertise and dedication, I got early termination of my probation and even managed to get my record expunged! He was always there to answer my questions and really supported me throughout this challenging time. If you’re looking for a lawyer who truly cares about your case and knows how to fight for your case, look no further. I’m incredibly grateful for Daniel Kolacia's hard work and guidance!

Mr. Garcia and Mrs. Gnekow were exceptional in their representation. They worked on my case which was difficult. Unfortunately, I was dealing with an ex-wife who had no interest in dealing or negotiating in good faith for what would be best for our children. My case has been on-going for nearly five years. Multiple RFO's filed through the years and endless litigation just to get small extensions of my visitation. The biggest issue is I had no legal or physical custody rights to my children. I was in a big deficit. I had a previous attorney that was good, but Mrs. Gnekow had big plans for me. She believed in my case and from day one believed she could help me get more than what I was even asking for. I had pretty much dropped the idea of joint legal custody because most people thought I needed a change of circumstance to make that happen. Not Mrs. Gnekow or Mr. Garcia. They saw their chance to argue that for me along with all my other requests which were very reasonable, (holidays, half of vacation breaks,). When they time came in the last few weeks to go to court; we hardly spent time in the actual courtroom. It took a few weeks to navigate through the stipulation and I knew my ex-wife would not go down without a fight, but in the end Mrs. Gnekow and Mr. Garcia got it done. I am a Christian and God brings people into your life for a reason. God brought me to this firm and their firm delivered beyond my expectations which is how God operates. He always exceeds your expectations as long as you have faith. Thank you again Mrs. Gnekow and Mr. Garcia and the rest of your firm.

After working with Mr. Thorne for 2+ years it became clear to me that he is well respected by judges and opposing counsel. I felt like he took the time to get to know me at our first consultation and returned my phone calls fairly quickly throughout this whole process. Anyone that's going through a divorce knows that things can pop up at any minute and I was glad to be able to get responses in a timely manner. Going thru a divorce during COVID was no easy task, but things moved pretty quickly to my surprise. He was able to get the ball moving for me and get a court hearing scheduled in a decent timeframe. I appreciate his honesty, even when it came down to things that weren't obtainable.

Mr. Thorne was actually the attorney that took over my case when his business partner Mr. Haslam retired. Mr. Thorne represented me at my first court appearance for child support. He was very helpful and we left with an order in place that day. Throughout the years, he has always been very informative, ethical, honest, reliable, and knowledgeable. He and his staff always kept me up-to-date on what was going on with my case. I was able to reach them when I needed to. I have used a couple other family law attorneys in my past before I knew Mr. Thorne. I would highly recommend Mr. Thorne over any of the other attorneys I used. He is definitely fair and will fight for you!

What a Domestic Violence Lawyer Can Do for You

A domestic violence lawyer provides legal assistance to individuals involved in cases of domestic abuse, whether you are a victim seeking protection or someone accused of domestic violence defending against the charges. These lawyers help with obtaining restraining orders (protective orders), representing clients in criminal court, and handling related family law issues such as child custody, divorce, and visitation rights.

If you are dealing with domestic violence, a lawyer can help protect your rights and navigate the legal system to ensure your safety or defend you if you’re falsely accused.

When Should I Hire a Domestic Violence Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a domestic violence lawyer if you are:

  • A Victim of Domestic Violence:
    • Filing for a protective order (restraining order): If you need immediate protection from an abuser, a lawyer can help you file for a protective order, which legally requires the abuser to stay away from you and refrain from contacting you.
    • Divorce or separation due to abuse: If domestic violence is a factor in your relationship, a lawyer can help you pursue a divorce or legal separation and ensure that you are protected throughout the process.
    • Child custody and visitation issues: A lawyer can help you secure custody of your children and limit or restrict the abuser’s visitation rights to protect the safety of your children.
    • Filing criminal charges: If you are pursuing criminal charges against the abuser, a domestic violence lawyer can work with law enforcement and prosecutors to ensure the case is handled properly.
    • Assistance with safety planning: A lawyer can advise on the legal steps to create a safety plan, including securing temporary housing, and taking steps to protect you and your family.
  • Accused of Domestic Violence:
    • Defending against criminal charges: If you’ve been accused of domestic violence, a lawyer can defend your case, challenge the evidence, and represent you in court. If possible, the lawyer can help get charges reduced or dismissed.
    • Challenging a restraining order: If someone has obtained a protective order against you, a lawyer can help you contest the order to prevent it from negatively impacting your life, including your employment and child custody rights.
    • Dealing with family law issues: Domestic violence allegations can affect child custody, divorce, and property division. A lawyer can represent your interests in family court and ensure that your parental rights are protected.
    • Avoiding criminal record implications: A lawyer can work to minimize the impact of the allegations on your record, which can affect your employment, housing, and future legal matters.

Hiring a lawyer at the earliest stages can help ensure your rights are protected and the case is handled effectively, whether you are seeking protection or defending against accusations.

What Does a Domestic Violence Lawyer Do?

A domestic violence lawyer provides various legal services depending on the specifics of your case. These responsibilities often include:

  • For Victims:
    • Filing for protective orders: A lawyer can help victims of domestic violence obtain temporary or permanent restraining orders, which provide legal protection by restricting the abuser’s access to you and your children.
    • Representing you in divorce and child custody matters: Domestic violence often leads to divorce or separation, and a lawyer can represent you in family court to protect your assets, secure custody of your children, and arrange spousal and child support.
    • Criminal representation: Lawyers work with law enforcement and prosecutors to pursue criminal charges against the abuser, ensuring that you are informed and supported throughout the legal process.
    • Safety planning and legal advice: Lawyers provide advice on how to stay safe legally and can assist in securing temporary housing, providing guidance on how to leave abusive situations safely.
  • For the Accused:
    • Defending against charges: A lawyer will build a defense by investigating the case, gathering evidence, and challenging the claims made against you. If necessary, the lawyer can negotiate with prosecutors to reduce charges or penalties.
    • Challenging protective orders: If a restraining order has been placed against you, a lawyer can contest the order and present evidence to defend against it, aiming to minimize its impact on your life and reputation.
    • Handling related family law issues: Lawyers help defend against domestic violence allegations in divorce, child custody, and visitation disputes, working to protect your parental rights and reputation.
    • Preventing long-term consequences: A lawyer will work to protect you from the long-term consequences of a domestic violence conviction, such as a criminal record that could affect employment, housing, and more.

How Are Domestic Violence Lawyers Paid?

Domestic violence lawyers generally charge for their services in different ways depending on the case's complexity and the type of legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: Many domestic violence lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location. Hourly rates are common for both criminal defense and family law matters.
  • Flat fee: For specific tasks, such as filing a restraining order or defending against a straightforward domestic violence charge, some lawyers offer a flat fee that covers all legal work related to that service.
  • Retainer: In complex cases, such as those involving criminal charges, divorce, and custody disputes, a lawyer may require a retainer fee, which is an upfront payment that covers future legal services.
  • Pro bono or reduced fees: Some domestic violence lawyers provide pro bono (free) or reduced-fee services to victims of domestic abuse who cannot afford legal representation.

It’s important to discuss fees during your consultation to ensure you understand how much your case will cost and what payment options may be available.

How Much Does a Domestic Violence Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a domestic violence lawyer depends on the complexity of your case, the lawyer’s experience, and the type of legal work required. General cost estimates include:

  • Restraining orders: The legal fees for filing a protective or restraining order typically range from $500 to $2,500, depending on whether the case requires a hearing.
  • Criminal defense: If you’re defending against domestic violence charges, legal fees may range from $2,500 to $15,000 or more, depending on whether the case goes to trial and the severity of the charges.
  • Family law issues: Legal fees for divorce, child custody, and other family law issues related to domestic violence can range from $3,000 to $15,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case.
  • Hourly rates: Domestic violence lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour for their services, with more experienced lawyers charging higher rates.

Always ask for a detailed cost estimate during your consultation to understand the total cost of legal services.

Top Questions to Ask a Domestic Violence Lawyer

Before hiring a domestic violence lawyer, it’s important to ask key questions to ensure they have the right experience and approach for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with domestic violence cases?
Ensure that the lawyer has handled domestic violence cases similar to yours, whether you’re a victim or the accused.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, flat fees, or a retainer, and ask for a detailed cost estimate.
  3. What is the likely outcome of my case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of your case, including potential challenges and expected outcomes.
  4. How long will the process take?
Domestic violence cases vary in length, so ask the lawyer how long they expect the process to last and what might cause delays.
  5. Will I need to appear in court?
Ask if your participation in court is required, and how the lawyer plans to represent you during hearings or trials.
  6. What steps should I take to protect myself or my rights?
Whether you’re a victim seeking protection or defending against allegations, ask the lawyer how they will help you navigate the situation.

How to Check the Credibility of a Domestic Violence Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable domestic violence lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Check their bar status: Verify with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for domestic violence experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in domestic violence cases and have successfully handled cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients say about their experience with the lawyer.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have been involved in domestic violence cases.
  • Check for memberships in relevant organizations: Look for certifications or memberships in family law or domestic violence advocacy groups, such as the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV).

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a domestic violence lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • For Victims:
    • Details of the abuse: Prepare a detailed account of the abuse, including dates, locations, and descriptions of any injuries or threats.
    • Police reports and medical records: Bring copies of any police reports, medical records, or photographs that document the abuse.
    • Legal filings: If you have already filed for a restraining order or been involved in any legal proceedings, bring copies of those documents.
    • Questions about your safety and legal options: Be ready to ask about the best steps to protect yourself and your family, as well as what legal actions you should pursue.
  • For the Accused:
    • Details of the allegations: Prepare a detailed account of the incident or allegations against you, including any evidence or witnesses that support your defense.
    • Legal documents: Bring any legal documents you have received, such as a restraining order, criminal charges, or child custody filings.
    • Questions about your defense: Prepare questions about the legal process, possible penalties, and how the lawyer plans to defend your case.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your situation and provide the best possible legal advice.
