Where do i start? Amazing Law Firm and let me just say how professional Robert Swensen was with me, told me everything that was going to happened and how it was going to happened. He even went over and Beyond the call of duty, when I called him after hours he picked up and spoke with me, I don’t get that from lawyers, I usually get the answer machine and wait 2-3 business to get a response, but Robert was different he was on my case as soon as he got it in front of him. he always helped me with question and concerns I had. I was very confident and comfortable with Mr. Swensen, and they also have multiple ways to pay, which was very convenient for me. If you need a law firm, THE COOK LAW FIRM IS THE WAY TO GO. Wait no more they are QUICK AND HONEST and will get the job done ✅ Thank You 🙏 so much for helping me with my Divorce Mr. Swensen

I had the privilege of having Dr. Baez represent my husband on a parole revocation case. I must say his dedication to his clients is unparalleled. From the moment I sought his counsel, it was evident that he was not just another attorney, but a fierce advocate for justice. He leaves no stone unturned in pursuit of the best possible outcome. We achieved a favorable resolution in our case. I cannot recommend him highly enough to anyone in need of legal representation. If you’re looking for a lawyer who will fight tirelessly for your rights, look no further than Dr. Baez, he is a champion for justice.

Dr. Baez has been an invaluable gift from God! We connected through my family that know him personally from church. Dr. Baez has provided me with a fatherly-guidance since the first day we met. A true mentor with an extensive understanding of Biblical teachings that always appear customized for you specifically. I have been reminded by Dr. Baez what a true Man of God says and does in daily life once again. To say that this man is a stellar lawyer truly does not do him justice. His approach to each case displays a surgical precision like no other! Dr. Baez will forever be in my family prayers. We are truly grateful for this Warrior of God to be a part of our lives! Thank you, Dr. Baez, for everything you have done for me and my family!

We were running out of answers on representation of attorneys for our son on criminal charges as we had previously hired various attorneys with them only taking money and wanting an easy way out by him taking a plea even though he was innocent . It was so bad that one of his attorneys had our son arrested by advising him not to show up to court. When we finally met Mr Brian Powers, he was up front with his fees and told us that he would make sure that justice was done for our son. He did not only keep to his word , but showed up to every court date and kept us informed of the process. All charges were dropped for our son. We highly recommend Mr Powers. He is knowledgeable, assertive and knows the law and makes sure that you as a client are at ease. He also saw the struggles our son was going through financially so he devised a payment plan for him. Don’t hesitate to hire him!!!!

I hired Mr. Powers for a DV/ assault case involving my husband's girlfriend. It was a very long and stressful time for legal and personal reasons. He and his staff are efficient as well as friendly. They really make you feel like you are their only client. Mr. Powers is a very intelligent and personable individual and for an attorney, an asset to have on your side. Against great odds, my case was dismissed. I very highly recommend Mr. Powers and his staff. I hope to never have to use their services again, but they will always be my first choice and first recommendation. Thank you. Mr Powers and your staff!

Hiring Brian was one of the greatest decisions I’ve made! He demonstrated strong work ethic when he immediately started working on my case as well as frequently updated me on the case developments. I think what helped my decision to hire Brian was the fact that he quoted me a really reasonable price while other lawyers where asking for double or even triple for the services. While working with him, I never doubted that my case isn’t being handled. I was confident in his work and his ability to bring a positive result. I greatly appreciate his hard work!

I first met with Mr. Gordon in 2015. He was quick to return my calls, spoke to me with such ease and struck me as a very kind and approachable person. His staff was efficient and always courteous. I hired him and he took care of things just as he said he would and for the amount he quoted me. A couple years later I reached out to him regarding a misdemeanor issue with my son, he not only called me back after I texted him, he counseled me at no charge. He's like an Angel on my shoulder.

The mother of my son and I have been in court a year to date fighting over the custody of our 14 year old son. Once I got engaged and moved in with my fiance (now wife) she told me I couldn't see him again. Prior to my engagement I always had our son and his little brother (her child from a previous relationship) to help her out. I went from always seeing my son (prior to engagement), to never seeing my son, to eight hours a week on the weekend, to 50/50 in the summer time, to extended standard and now full custody. Larry is an exceptional and well respected attorney. In the beginning I was so angry about what was going on and Larry advised me to keep my cool and let him "be the attorney". There aren't enough words to describe the joy I feel coming home every day to my son and having our family complete. Thank you, thank you, thank you Larry for all you have done and are doing! Highly recommended.

When I was initially arrested for a DWI I was a first time offender and did not know the full extent of what fighting it in court would mean. Kyle was patient and walked me through the entire process. He made himself available to me even on weekends to answer questions and help reduce my anxiety. Ultimately, it took almost two years to resolve my DWI and Kyle was there every step of the way. I was offered many plea deals because I was a first time offender with a low BAC level and each deal seemed good, however, Kyle never pressured me to accept anything I did not feel 100% confident with. In the end he ended up getting my case dismissed. Over the two years that I worked with him he showed nothing but professionalism and empathy, I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Kyle represented me for a Class A assault case. It was my first time having trouble with the law and I was very unaware of the legal process. I figured common sense justice would be applied by prosecutors but I found that is not necessarily the case. I found that a lot of the prosecutors are only interested in winning and advancing their career. Basically once you are charged, you need someone fighting for you to prove your innocence or take some sort of plea. Kyle did a fantastic job fighting for me. He is very knowledgeable about the law and has a lot of tools in his kit to help prove your innocence. Kyle fought for me and refused to be pressured into bad plea deals. We eventually went to trial, which ended in a mistrial and an eventual dismissal. I highly recommend Kyle and his team to fight your case.

After I was arrested I searched for and spoke to numerous lawyers and felt no confidence. I began looking through the"Top 22 Lawyers" list and found the Law Offices of Daniel and Hudson. I spoke with the paralegal Brittany and she had a lawyer call me back within minutes. After speaking with the lawyer, Mr. Halstead (a military Veteran) I was more at ease and knew this was the right lawyer. The up front cost wasn't ridiculous and he was already making a plan on how to move forward. We spoke often at his office answering any questions I had and he also called me to let me know what was going on with my case. My charges were very serious and I was originally looking at a possible 25 years, but with his advice to hold out for a better outcome, it was 8 yrs, then it was just probation then it was dismissed. I owe it to Mr. Halstead for his knowledge of the criminal justice system and knowing when and how to present his case. I would "Highly" recommend Mr. Halstead in any criminal case because of his professionalism and knowledge base. Thanks to Mr.Halsted and his team (Brittany and Veronica) I got my life back!

I was in a big messy divorce and allegations arose of misconduct with my child ( to put it mildly ). After putting money down with a criminal lawyer that I will not name, I saw the beginning of a scary path because the lawyer lacked sufficient experience in these type of cases. So I looked up the Daniel and Hudson law firm and decided to present my case. I was informed of what to expect and what not to expect. But throughout the conversations I’ve seen the experienced lawyers treating this case with diligence. What I experienced in the court room when my lawyer questioned the states negligence in facts and lack of officers experience in sensitive information was overwhelming to witness; since I would have never known what to expect in this type of case. My confidence with my lawyer Woody was further uplifted when the intern lawyer that I met during the trial proceedings told me that a lot of interns come to see him defend his clients. It was almost a god given sign that I had the right person for what is the most traumatic experience in my life... Thank you Woody, you gave me my life back.

Just spoke to this law firm, I would not reconnect this law firm. Stay far away. Their first duty is to the court, if a judge tells any one of their lawyers not to wear a certain suit again they will bend over backwards. Their duty is not in the best interest of the child but to the court first! Do not hire this firm, they will not argue your case in court. They will let the judge violate your rights and help them do it. When I heard this from their attorney during the consultation I immediately asked where is the duty to your client and the best interest of the child? She hung up. When a lawyers says their first duty is to the court that means you should run! Mr. Briones is a generic result attorney that totally got annihilated in court JP3 04/13/21 He was representing my family members in a civil suit and even got their name incorrect. Briones was unprepared and tried to scam Judge Wentworth into believing that only one person was on a deed to a home in dispute as if the other ex spouse was not on the deed at all. When the Judge called him out in it, Briones stumbled in his words saying he misunderstood. Briones did not even have the divorce Decree with him that literally won the case for the opponent . He told the Judge he did not know what was on it and got annihilated once again when the Judge had the copy of the decree and told him that his name was on it. He had signed it, yet had pretended he was unaware of the stipulations on it that favored the opponent and the case was lost for Briones. I believe the Judge could see through Briones right away and his credentials were immediately lost. This attorney is exactly the kind of attorney to avoid.

I went to see Mr. Briones for a consultation in December of last year. My ex wife was moving to Laredo and taking our son to go live over there. I asked Mr. Briones for help and he recommended that we file for a modification to have my son come live me with and not have to go to Laredo. It seemed impossible and I never thought I would have a chance but Mr. Briones was very certain that we could fight for this. I didn't have very much money to pay for a retainer so he asked for a little up front and put me on a payment plan. We went to court a few times and at the last hearing we won. My son now lives with me full time and I couldn't ask for a better lawyer on my side then Ricardo Briones.

Mr. Hancock represented my son in a criminal case. There was much disappointment as my son and I did not feel like Mr. Hancock was actually fighting for him throughout the process. There was alot to be desired from Mr. Hancock during the process. Mr Hancock used the states investigative findings instead of doing his own investigation to fight for my son. He made a statement to me on a couple of occasionas that I wasn't a rich woman in regards to paying for an investigation for my son. I was told by another attorney, that the state would have covered the cost of an investigation for my son that was not done by this attorney. Mr Hancock used the states slanted data instead of collecting his own. My son has been in jail/prison for about 6 years now. I just wish that Mr. Hancock would have cared more about his client, my son. I don't understand how the lawyer, Mr. Hancock, kept asking the client, "what's the plan?" I may be wrong, but I thought the attorney should formulate the plan? If we were familiar with the law, we wouldn't need an attorney. My son's case could have turned out differently, if the one that represented him,did more on his behalf. My heart is broken!

What a Domestic Violence Lawyer Can Do for You

A domestic violence lawyer provides legal assistance to individuals involved in cases of domestic abuse, whether you are a victim seeking protection or someone accused of domestic violence defending against the charges. These lawyers help with obtaining restraining orders (protective orders), representing clients in criminal court, and handling related family law issues such as child custody, divorce, and visitation rights.

If you are dealing with domestic violence, a lawyer can help protect your rights and navigate the legal system to ensure your safety or defend you if you’re falsely accused.

When Should I Hire a Domestic Violence Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a domestic violence lawyer if you are:

  • A Victim of Domestic Violence:
    • Filing for a protective order (restraining order): If you need immediate protection from an abuser, a lawyer can help you file for a protective order, which legally requires the abuser to stay away from you and refrain from contacting you.
    • Divorce or separation due to abuse: If domestic violence is a factor in your relationship, a lawyer can help you pursue a divorce or legal separation and ensure that you are protected throughout the process.
    • Child custody and visitation issues: A lawyer can help you secure custody of your children and limit or restrict the abuser’s visitation rights to protect the safety of your children.
    • Filing criminal charges: If you are pursuing criminal charges against the abuser, a domestic violence lawyer can work with law enforcement and prosecutors to ensure the case is handled properly.
    • Assistance with safety planning: A lawyer can advise on the legal steps to create a safety plan, including securing temporary housing, and taking steps to protect you and your family.
  • Accused of Domestic Violence:
    • Defending against criminal charges: If you’ve been accused of domestic violence, a lawyer can defend your case, challenge the evidence, and represent you in court. If possible, the lawyer can help get charges reduced or dismissed.
    • Challenging a restraining order: If someone has obtained a protective order against you, a lawyer can help you contest the order to prevent it from negatively impacting your life, including your employment and child custody rights.
    • Dealing with family law issues: Domestic violence allegations can affect child custody, divorce, and property division. A lawyer can represent your interests in family court and ensure that your parental rights are protected.
    • Avoiding criminal record implications: A lawyer can work to minimize the impact of the allegations on your record, which can affect your employment, housing, and future legal matters.

Hiring a lawyer at the earliest stages can help ensure your rights are protected and the case is handled effectively, whether you are seeking protection or defending against accusations.

What Does a Domestic Violence Lawyer Do?

A domestic violence lawyer provides various legal services depending on the specifics of your case. These responsibilities often include:

  • For Victims:
    • Filing for protective orders: A lawyer can help victims of domestic violence obtain temporary or permanent restraining orders, which provide legal protection by restricting the abuser’s access to you and your children.
    • Representing you in divorce and child custody matters: Domestic violence often leads to divorce or separation, and a lawyer can represent you in family court to protect your assets, secure custody of your children, and arrange spousal and child support.
    • Criminal representation: Lawyers work with law enforcement and prosecutors to pursue criminal charges against the abuser, ensuring that you are informed and supported throughout the legal process.
    • Safety planning and legal advice: Lawyers provide advice on how to stay safe legally and can assist in securing temporary housing, providing guidance on how to leave abusive situations safely.
  • For the Accused:
    • Defending against charges: A lawyer will build a defense by investigating the case, gathering evidence, and challenging the claims made against you. If necessary, the lawyer can negotiate with prosecutors to reduce charges or penalties.
    • Challenging protective orders: If a restraining order has been placed against you, a lawyer can contest the order and present evidence to defend against it, aiming to minimize its impact on your life and reputation.
    • Handling related family law issues: Lawyers help defend against domestic violence allegations in divorce, child custody, and visitation disputes, working to protect your parental rights and reputation.
    • Preventing long-term consequences: A lawyer will work to protect you from the long-term consequences of a domestic violence conviction, such as a criminal record that could affect employment, housing, and more.

How Are Domestic Violence Lawyers Paid?

Domestic violence lawyers generally charge for their services in different ways depending on the case's complexity and the type of legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: Many domestic violence lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location. Hourly rates are common for both criminal defense and family law matters.
  • Flat fee: For specific tasks, such as filing a restraining order or defending against a straightforward domestic violence charge, some lawyers offer a flat fee that covers all legal work related to that service.
  • Retainer: In complex cases, such as those involving criminal charges, divorce, and custody disputes, a lawyer may require a retainer fee, which is an upfront payment that covers future legal services.
  • Pro bono or reduced fees: Some domestic violence lawyers provide pro bono (free) or reduced-fee services to victims of domestic abuse who cannot afford legal representation.

It’s important to discuss fees during your consultation to ensure you understand how much your case will cost and what payment options may be available.
