I had my case handled by attorney Richard Kopelman and his paralegal, Anne and this office is amazing. Their goal is to do whats best for their clients. Mr. Kopelman is very caring, respectful, knowledgable and genuine. Living in Atlanta there are hundreds of law firms but not all law firms will make you feel at ease. Throughout the course of my case he continued to reassure me that my incident wasn't my fault and continued to ask about my well being. I am originally from a small town and this law office give you a small town feel. I felt like I was speaking with a neighbor or family friend and we could discuss any topic (i.e., Life, family, politics and well being). This office works for their clients and they care. From the very first day I could tell we made an excellent choice when we hired Hurley Elder Care attorney. They treated us like we were their only client. There IS a lot of paperwork that needs to be done. However, a staff member came to our home and slowly and methodically explained each section of the DNR, the Wills, the application for Medicaid and a plethora of forms necessary to removing “worry” from our future.
I won’t kid you, at my age, 81, trying to contact each of our utilities and banks , providing them documents they would need to make changes was a tedious task but again by contacting the appropriate Hurley employee when I ran into a snag and having them quickly respond was a priceless asset.
They stayed with me every step of the way and were patient and kind if I became frustrated. Several times it was necessary to have them be on a particular call so they could lend their expertise.
We have finally reached the point where all our goals have been achieved.

When we were at our wit's end as to how to get Medicaid assistance for our loved one who was at a Skilled Nursing Facility, we were referred to the Hurley Elderly Care Law Firm. There. we were not only listened to, but, heard. The attorney was personable, compassionate, professional, and knowledgeable. The attorney worked with us to set up a Qualified Income Trust and begin the application process for Medicaid. We were encouraged and guided through the application process. We left the office hopeful. Throughout the application processing period, Hurley Law maintained regular phone and email contact with us, updating us on the status of our application until it was approved. Paul was recommended to me when I took my sorority sister to be diagnosed by a psychiatrist for hallucinations. She lived two hours away, had no family and had never been to any doctors, so there was no one to catch the problem early . I looked at the Doctor and said, "ok what do I do now?". He handed me Paul's card and said that he thought I should call him.
Well, this was a Godsend. After talking with Paul, I knew exactly what I needed to do. I now have full responsibility for her and he has been with me the whole way from getting her diagnosed with dementia, to helping with all of the legal paperwork and consolidating the finances (after having to find all of them first!) and getting her moved in to an assisted living home where she is getting topnotch care. It is difficult to ascertain what attorney if any to trust Mr. Black has come highly recommended by several people. I realized that we did not have these documents in place and while I was in town for a recent visit, John came to our house to discuss the matter. He returned the very next day with the documents prepared for signature. He took the time to explain everything carefully. As a result of Chris's work, my dad's application was approved and he was able to move into the assisted living facility he preferred.
