When seeking a lawyer to tackle the daunting task of Estate Planning, the firm of O’Connell Law LLC was recommended by our financial advisor.
Our first meeting coincided with the onset of the COVID19 pandemic and
necessitated doing so “virtually”. In spite of the sudden transition from business-as-usual, all of our interactions were handled with competence, compassion, and elegance.
Tiffany A. O’Connell walked us through the initial phase, simplifying each step and answering all our questions with warmth and wisdom. The depth of her understanding of the law was evident as she deftly led us through the weeds of details. She shared the screen with Faiza Z. Chaudry who added to her comments.
A meeting schedule was established, and we had the benefit of Faiza’s expertise at following sessions. For thirty years my husband managed our finances. My eyes crossed every time he tried to get me involved. I’m not proud of that but it came back to haunt me when he got ill and it all fell to me. Eventually I woke up to the fact that his illness meant that I needed to redo all my estate planning because he could no longer be my backup trustee, health care proxy, etc. My neighbor recommended O’Connell Law to help me, and I am so grateful. I had so much trepidation about it but Tiff and her associate Faiza put me at ease immediately. They have the process down to a science; they are able to break estate planning into small understandable pieces. They are as much wonderful teachers as they are excellent attorneys. We LOVE George Constant and his consistent desire to make sure we understand exactly what is happening with regards to our estate planning/special needs trust planning. His calm and laid-back demeanor -- sprinkled with some good jokes -- made our planning sessions with him a breeze. George helped me and my husband create our wills, trusts, and other important documents like POA and healthcare proxies. It was a smooth and organized process, and he clearly explained everything without jargon. He took the time to get to know us and what is important to us in terms of values and what we were trying to achieve with our estate plan. We also liked that he offers electronic services like the ability to exchange documents securely and store important files in a client vault. We even have cards for our wallets so that our important documents could be accessed in the event of an emergency. Beyond all that, he's got a sense of humor and seems to really love what he does. He's definitely highly experienced, and it shows. I could tell he cares about what the process feels like for his clients and acknowledges the parts that can be challenging. He even helped us through the practical work around how to retitle assets, which made our plan truly actionable. It's a good feeling knowing you've made a plan and put it into motion.

Mr. Gosselin was recommended to me by a family member who is also MD in Winchester, MA. Atty Matt Karr is excellent. He spent the time to understand our need for a credit bypass trust. He explained the process in clear declarative English rather than legalese. I feel that his fee was very reasonable. He supported his documents with a video explaining everything so that I could replay it if I had questions. We spoke to other lawyers that charged more and some that charged less. It is very hard to compare prices like buying a car. I recommend that you meet with Matt before selecting an attorney. BTW trusts are his specialty not just another work product.

Boyd & Boyd, Centerville, MA, are experts in elder law. We went to one of their free seminars that was advertised in a mailing. We liked what we saw, and there was no pressure. we learned that Probate will cost our heirs 3-5% of our estates. We also learned that only a trust, not a will, avoids probate. Even if a Trust only saved our heirs 3-5% of our estate (although it can do much more), it would be a no-brainer. That alone would far far exceed the cost.
So we worked with Keats Boyd to set up a comprehensive estate plan- Trust, Wills, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Proxies, Living Wills, Homestead protection, etc. Some of the things that especially impressed us were: 1. Working with Keats-it was very easy-he's likable, friendly, down to earth, gentle, patient-
a quality person. 2. Services and fees were clearly explained ahead- no surprises or misunderstandings.
3. Permission to call with questions without being "on the clock" for extra charges. 4. Yearly updates of documents, and three year reviews, at no extra charge. 5. Should anything happen to us, Boyd & Boyd has everything, knows everything, and will walk family members through what needs to be done.

I was referred to the law office of Ernest Stone because I had a case that was very complex. That term isn’t hyperbole, it touched many corners of the legal spectrum. Most of which I was very unfamiliar with and to my surprise most of the other Criminal Defense Attorneys I consulted were also concerningly unfamiliar. I spoke to Atty. Stones paralegal who answered on the first ring and had me in the office the next day. Face to face, I laid out the long and complex situation. Atty. Stone took meticulous notes while never breaking concentration on me or what I was saying and he even captured parts of my speech inflection that he instinctively knew were key points to my argument. Law aside, that is a perceptive skill not many people possess. Once I finished, we went item by item and discussed each section in clear and objective detail. Not a hint of confusion or unfamiliarity. Unparalleled legal advice without any hesitation. I mention this not because of the previous negative experiences I had but because I was/am genuinely impressed at Atty. Dena Dionne is the best lawyer I've ever met! She's refuses to drop a case. I parked in her parking space, and she asked me to move. I said don't worry about it, we'll move. She spent the next 5 minutes berating me to get down to the bottom of it. She continued to question me when I moved my car around the corner. She is a relentless lawyer, who will not stop until she gets justice! She even took pictures of my license plate, meaning she does her homework. I'm reading these reviews and wondering why our experiences were so vastly different from the experiences of many. Jordana was unresponsive, distracted during meetings and seemed to buddy up to the other party's attorney at our expense. The only upside of our experience was that she didn't charge us anything. Then again, she did nothing for us either, other than waste a lot of our time. Fortunately, we found another lawyer who was just perfect! But beware, it sounds like when Jordana is "on" she's great but when her heart isn't in it, she is awful.

We hired the BLG when my dad urgently required additional care. Unfortunately my brothers and I were not aware of how dire a situation my parents were in and we needed help quickly.
