I recently hired Matt Karr and his team to assist me with getting Mass Health for my brother. I had Felicia out of the Ware office work with me and my gf after a horrible accident that almost took our lives. As a artist I also almost lost my hand this my career hobby and passion. From start to finish they really had our backs. Even after the at fault party who didn't have insurance fleed the scene. We hired the BLG when my dad urgently required additional care. Unfortunately my brothers and I were not aware of how dire a situation my parents were in and we needed help quickly. In 2021, it became very apparent I needed a Massachusetts estate planning attorney and family law firm to help with multiple matters. Being from out of state, I knew no lawyers in the Berkshires not to mention an arduous selection process searching for an experienced lawyer and firm.
I narrowed my search to attorneys and firms in central and south Berkshire County. With little knowledge, I first contacted Berkshire Law group. After an initial phone call, her team recognized the urgency and immediately arranged for a virtual meeting during the pandemic. They took total charge of my family and estate legal matters as well as eldercare needs. After the initial call with the firm’s paralegal, Dawn, and later Zoom session with Paula Almgren, Esq., I had total confidence in their ability to help.

I found Peter Herbst via AVVO when I did a search looking for a new trust attorney. I was looking to revamp my outdated trust documents and make some changes and had no clue where to start. We were in the process of applying for Mass Health for our 98 year old mom who had recently been admitted to a nursing home facility and we ran into issues with a family trust. We had a relatively complex estate issue surrounding a living trust and it was clear to see that we needed urgent help. Thankfully, we found the law office of Patrick Hurley who specializes in elder care and MassHealth Insurance. He and his team have been outstanding in the way they were able to handle our situation and put our minds at ease right from our first phone call with Deb Tura.
After multiple calls and remote meetings (due to covid-19) Patrick and his team helped us to understand the cumbersome process in order to obtain MassHealth Insurance for our Mom.
Without their help, knowledge and guidance, we would still be struggling - and in the wrong direction! Not only did he get our Mom on MassHealth, but he also negotiated a very substantial discount with the nursing home due to a one month gap difference in coverage.

When my parents first hired Attorney Tricia Shumaker to prepare their estate plan, they had no idea they were running out of time and on the precipice of needing far more than estate planning. necessitated doing so “virtually”. In spite of the sudden transition from business-as-usual, all of our interactions were handled with competence, compassion, and elegance.
Tiffany A. O’Connell walked us through the initial phase, simplifying each step and answering all our questions with warmth and wisdom. The depth of her understanding of the law was evident as she deftly led us through the weeds of details. She shared the screen with Faiza Z. Chaudry who added to her comments.

For thirty years my husband managed our finances. My eyes crossed every time he tried to get me involved. I’m not proud of that but it came back to haunt me when he got ill and it all fell to me. Eventually I woke up to the fact that his illness meant that I needed to redo all my estate planning because he could no longer be my backup trustee, health care proxy, etc. My neighbor recommended O’Connell Law to help me, and I am so grateful. Many years ago I had chosen SS&B to help establish the first estate plan for my wife and I. Recently at the passing of my wife, I needed to update all of these plans. Obviously having just lost my wife of almost 40 years and having to pull out all of those documents that we had created together added a bit of stress to a difficult time, added to the stress we had all been facing during the COVID pandemic of 2020. Attorney Abbott and her entire team not only helped direct me through all of the steps need to make my transition to this new estate plan, but also worked with me to be sure all of the questions were asked and answered thoughtfully knowing that my brain had difficulty focusing on almost anything, no less the redoing of my estate plans. Her calm and supporting presence though this made a difficult time bearable. She was working to support me not only to complete this new plan, but also as a person. She would take the time just to talk and not just dive into the needed work on the documents. She was the person, and they were the team that was needed for me to get through this most necessary process. I reached out to Zach who was Reccomnded though someone at Harvard law criminal justice department.
I spoke to several other attorneys as well as Zach. Zach stands out compared to the 4 other attorneys I had consultations with.
I called and he got back to me within the hour. I had a phone consultation with him about my case.
He went above and beyond with out being asked.
In our consult, and for several days following Zach continued to give me information I had never been presented before that could be the difference between winning and losing a case. This is all based on Zach’s experience, knowledge and research. He took the time and went far beyond the expectations of a consultation.
He presented it from both sides and was able to play devils advocate well.
Alone on his consult, I would highly Reccomnded Zach. There are many attorneys out there but there are few that put in the time and effort as Zach does.

I used him for a medicaid application for a relative. At first, it was an interview with the partner and a new attorney doing the work. When things got tricky, attorney Miller stepped in and handled things personally. He knew exactly what to do, when to do it, met all filing deadlines, and provided competent representation, and provided regular case updates. I would not hesitate to use him again.

We LOVE George Constant and his consistent desire to make sure we understand exactly what is happening with regards to our estate planning/special needs trust planning. His calm and laid-back demeanor -- sprinkled with some good jokes -- made our planning sessions with him a breeze. George helped me and my husband create our wills, trusts, and other important documents like POA and healthcare proxies. It was a smooth and organized process, and he clearly explained everything without jargon. He took the time to get to know us and what is important to us in terms of values and what we were trying to achieve with our estate plan. We also liked that he offers electronic services like the ability to exchange documents securely and store important files in a client vault. I cannot speak high enough of Sam. My mother is diagnosed with terminal cancer and its a very touchy situation. While on the consultation, both my mom and myself were crying and Sam was also compassionate and got teary eyed. Through out the entire call she was kind and respectful and listened.
