My wife and I recently had the privilege of working with Greg Poulos, a highly skilled and experienced lawyer, and we are compelled to share our positive experience with others seeking legal guidance in estate planning. From the outset, Greg's professionalism and commitment to his clients were evident. His extensive knowledge of wills and trusts law, coupled with his keen attention to detail, immediately put my wife and I at ease. Greg took the time to thoroughly understand our unique situation, patiently answering all of our questions and addressing any concerns we had. One of the standout qualities of Greg Poulos is his ability to simplify complex legal concepts, making them easily understandable for someone without a legal background. He communicated with clarity and transparency, ensuring that we were well-informed throughout the entire process. In conclusion, we wholeheartedly recommend Greg Poulos to anyone seeking a will and trust lawyer. His combination of legal expertise, personalized service, and compassionate approach make him an exceptional choice for navigating the complexities of estate planning. Working with Greg was not just a legal transaction but a positive and reassuring experience that left us confident in the security and effectiveness of our estate plan.

I give The Rosacci Law Firm My HIGHEST recommendation for anyone needing a legal professional. From my initial consultation, they have provided outstanding representation and service. Victoria took the time to fully understand the details of my situation and counseled me on the strengths and weaknesses of my case. Her extensive knowledge of the law and experience in this area of practice gave her unique insight that proved invaluable. Throughout the entire process, Victoria communicated with me regularly to update me on case developments and answer any questions I had. Her responsiveness helped put my mind at ease. I always felt she had a thorough grasp on my case and was an aggressive advocate on my behalf. In court, Victoria displayed her self to be highly competent, prepared, and persuasive. Her arguments were well-reasoned and helped achieve an extremely favorable outcome for me. I am confident I achieved a better resolution because of Victorias dedication and efforts. I would strongly advise anyone seeking legal assistance to consult The Rosacci Law Firm for any matter, big or small. They delivers top-notch work with genuine care for their clients. I feel very fortunate to have had such an amazing attorney fighting in my corner.

This review is mainly for Patricia Raymond, who has been my paralegal for this last year. I don’t know where to start. Trisha is always so happy anytime I call her. She just seems like she’s happy to hear from me even though I know she’s busy and I’m probably interrupting 100 things that she has to do. She always listens intently to my questions and gives me a complete answer and if she can’t, she will call me back with it. I feel so fortunate to have had her in my corner this past year and look forward to working with her until the final resolution of my case. Joe, my attorney also has been great. Although I only speak to him occasionally, he too as always been very professional and willing to help me and give me the honest answers I need. I’m very fortunate to have such a great team in my corner.

Michelle was referred to us by our financial planner. The fees were significantly higher than the last will & trust we created 16 years ago. However, her knowledge of the law, level of detail in addressing complex issues and willingness to explain things in layman's terms was helpful. Our work schedules and locations made it difficult to meet, and she was willing to conference call after hours to review the documents and save us a trip downtown. Her accommodation of our schedule and thoroughness of the legal forms was appreciated. Staff was friendly and approachable. They also assist families with ALS for end of life planning, and have a sensitivity to working with families of loved ones with ALS.

Hiring Nora was the best choice I made. Despite my parents' final wishes being very clear and in writing, my circumstances were complicated by an intransigent, irrational sibling. Nora confidently and expertly navigated court filings and the nonsense put forth by my sibling's attorneys. She showedmastery of the law, responded quickly to all my questions and concerns, and did it all with a gentle touch and awareness that this was hard and emotional for me. Her guidance and her conviction in my positions fueled my resolve to fight to the end, and the satisfying resolution I deserved.

I hired Nora after my sibling's falsely accused me of not meeting my trustee duties. It was the hardest time of my life. I lost my parents and those who were supposed to be there to support me were against me. Nora did an incredible job at clearly explaining the next steps and helping me understand what options I had available. She kept me calm and focused on one step at a time. Even when she was faced with insane drama from my sibling's she stayed positive and always reassured me everything was going to be okay. She went above and beyond countless times, especially when my mom passed. I can't imagine getting through the last years without her knowledge, guidance, and empathy. Nora has my complete trust and I highly recommend her for anyone going through similar situations.

I own and operate a small primary practice in Tucson. Lisa Paine has been our lawyer for the past 5-6 years, and she has been remarkable. She is personable, timely, and has done a wonderful job including helping us establish our LLC, developing business and consulting contracts, and other various legal needs we have over the years. She is a gem to work with. I highly recommend her for that service. Additionally, my husband and I hired her to complete our will and trust. She helped us navigate difficult decisions and created a very important document that will protect our family in the future. I also highly recommend Lisa for estate planning. Her price point is fair as well.

Thank you to Caleb Lihn of Taylor & Lihn, and his amazing team - Kimberly, Michelle, Hannah and Catey. I first had the pleasure of meeting Caleb when he assisted me after my mom passed. His professional approach, expertise, respect and caring were quite obvious from the moment he sat down and spoke. I felt quite relaxed. The next time I spoke with Caleb was when he assisted me with my estate plan. This was something I had been planning on taking care of for years, but for whatever reason, I kept putting off. After initially meeting with Caleb, I came to realize that I wasn’t putting this off. I was just waiting for the right lawyer. I immediately knew he was perfect for me! It is quite different when you are looking at your own life in front of you and making decisions! Caleb did not try to “sell” me documents that were not necessary for me. He immediately explained exactly what I did and did not need. Caleb and his team reassured me every step of the way, and made sure I was comfortable before I signed off on all documents. Each and every one of you were a calming source throughout! Questions were answered before I even asked. Words cannot express how grateful I am for all the time and attention you took to make this happen. Thank you for your patience throughout! Caleb is a wealth of knowledge. Thank you for the amazing experience provided to me each and every time we spoke, whether it was in person, via ZOOM or a phone call. In addition, my documents were organized in a professional binder (as opposed to a two pocket paper folder). I was also provided with a thumb drive containing digital copies of my documents. To go one step further, shortly after my signing, I received a letter from Caleb thanking me for allowing him to represent me in the preparation of my estate plan. My experience was above and beyond what I imagined! I highly recommend Taylor & Lihn. Caleb and his team are the real deal! They will not disappoint!

I really felt like she was with me every step of the way, remaining available and supportive throughout the entire process. Additionally, my case ended up going to trial because of the failings of the executor to act in accordance with the trust distribution, and Kathryn skillfully and efficiently won my case! Hiring Kathryn Warner was, without a doubt, the best legal choice I've ever made. I'd definitely recommend her to my family and friends.

Jimmy D. Rohde is the best attorney I have ever worked with and I was so fortunate to find him. I was overwhelmed trying to settle my mother’s estate she died unexpectedly, witout a will. I don't live in Arizona, so I had to find an attorney who could help me “long distance”. After making numerous phone calls, I found that most attorneys either didn’t want to tackle my particular situation, or they wanted money up front before they would talk to me, I found Jimmy Rohde. My first “meeting” with Jimmy was by phone. I had so many questions to ask i.e. where to start, what can I do and not do etc? He immediately seemed to grasp my situation, and explained things clearly and thoroughly. I never felt rushed, nor did he limit the number of questions I asked. After the 1st phone call, I knew Jimmy was the person I wanted to consult. When I flew back to Phx. to meet with him, Jimmy took the time to understand the "difficult dynamic" that is my family. He was 100% professional, but exuded a warmth and friendliness, that made me feel totally relaxed during that meeting. He displayed an exceptional level of expertise and provided me with clear explanations. He encouraged me to ask questions, no matter how insignificant or simple I thought they were. Since I'm out of state, I wasn’t sure what papers of my mother’s I needed to keep vs. what to get rid of, so at that 1st meeting I brought a box "filled with folders". Jimmy didn’t say a word, he just looked over the “mounds” of paperwork (most of which he probably didn’t need to see), and gave me sound advice. He asked detailed questions, and then gave me several options on how to proceed. He explained everything in terms I easily understood. I left feeling well informed and having a clearer direction of how best to proceed. It was clear from the onset that Jimmy was very knowledgeable and truly wanted the best for me. After the estate was "settled", family (from another country) entered into the scene. I was ruffled and emotional. Again, Jimmy was a Godsend. He was calm and empathetic while remaining professional. Jimmy's legal experience, along with his warmth and kindness, gave me hope at a time when my options appeared limited and the likelihood of a good resolution seemed next to impossible. He went above and beyond his obligation, and I couldn’t have asked for better advice or services. I know this is a long review, but it comes from the heart. I would recommend Mr. Jimmy D. Rohde to anyone needing a lawyer for probate and/or trust law without reservation.

My case was a contentious guardianship/conservatorship dispute, where some members of the family were trying to block my mother with Alzheimer's from getting memory care. It was a heartbreaking, traumatic, and long-drawn out process. Jimmy literally saved the day, by doing everything legally possible to ensure that my Mom got the care she needed. Throughout it all, he was kind, thoughtful, and committed to seeing the right thing happen for my mother. He is excellent at this work. Very strongly recommended!

I worked with Connor and AJ with Cantor Law firm on my family law case, and I was very impressed with their level of expertise and the quality of representation. Connor and AJ were extremely knowledgeable, thorough and excelled at writing motions, which really got my point across. I believe this made a significant difference in my case, as their clear and compelling arguments helped strengthen my position. Connor was extremely well-informed about every detail of my case, even recalling critical information from months prior. His remarkable memory and dedication demonstrated a deep understanding of family law and ensured that no detail was overlooked. While the quality of the service was excellent, the fees were more than I expected going into it. Despite the cost, I believe the representation was worth the investment because, in the end, my children are all that matter. If you're looking for an attorney who is not only skilled but also excels in effective legal writing and strong representation, I highly recommend Connor but be prepared for higher-than-expected costs, as high-quality legal representation can come at a premium.

My husband and I are very glad to have used Cantor Law Group's attorney services! From the very beginning and in our initial consultation, we were cared for and recommend the best lawyer for our particular needs. This was the first time we hired a lawyer, and Andrea Banks made the whole process easy to understand and very efficient. She was always on top of our needs and wishes being completed, and would regularly check in with us! We were so happy to have a lawyer we could call immediately if there were any sudden questions we needed answered, or any concerns we had. Andrea and her assistant Kendra are a wonderful team to work with and get the job done as soon as possible! We HIGHLY recommend this law office, but more specifically these two wonderful women who made sure we were well taken care of in our particular case!

I had an excellent experience working with Sonja Duckstein. I was bit by a dog, and other lawyers I approached didn’t seem interested in helping. Sonja, however, was eager to take on my case. She was thorough, always quick to answer my questions, and guided me through every step. Thanks to her dedication, I received a fair settlement for my damages. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate, knowledgeable attorney who gets results!

Sonja is an excellent lawyer to have in your corner—always available, quick to respond, and highly reliable. She took the time to explain everything in detail, ensuring I understood each step of the process. She came highly recommended by a close friend, and I am so glad I chose to work with her. Many thanks!

Kristen is absolutely amazing! I did not have the best of circumstances at that time and it was used against me. Kristen saw it for what it was and helped me fight for the truth. She was straightforward and honest about possible outcomes. She is strategic in her approach and pushed back at all the right times. The compassion Kristen showed while helping me fight my battle is irreplaceable and I had an amazing ending to my case! Should I ever need it, I 100% would work with Kristen again!

I am grateful for Kristen and her services. Kristen represented my family cases for approximately 4 years. The overall case is complex needing representation with several components multiple times. Kristen was the 4th attorney that I had. The first was for the divorce; I wish I knew about Kristen then. I would have retained her immediately and likely never had to go through what I did. Kristen was up against a 'shark' of an attorney, who represented my ex. Kristen handled everything with grace and tact. There where moments when she presented the ugly truth to me in a kind way. Her knowledge and professionalism is unmatched. The only reason that I have new representation is because I moved across the country. She provided me with guidance to transfer my case. She also has great communication. I never felt that I was left hanging and wondering.

If you have a family case with a child and you want to lose after paying over $60k for a lawyer that gave inadequate legal representation and committed legal malpractice, this is the firm to use. I give them every piece of evidence to prove the other parent was committing perjury, and my attorney did not cross on any of the given evidence to discredit their false testimony. Including "forgot" to submit crucial documents that the judge actually ruled against me due to not having the proof. I asked them to pull past case records several times, and they did not pull them. Which would have also discredited more false testimony. They asked the judge without consulting me first to hire a forensic psychologist who also committed perjury with his fraudulent report.... I paid this man to ruin my life directly caused by my own attorney. I told my attorney it was wrong, and there was nothing forensic about the report the day it came out. They did nothing to protect me. Never told me we could pull the records until after the ruling came out and realized the judge used the report as truth. I asked, "Can't we pull the records?" The response "Oh yes, we can pull them... Why wouldn't they have done that on my behalf before the hearing to protect their client... there supposed to be "representing us, is that not thier job???" Why was I giving advice to my attorney... Due to this companies neglect of my case, they put my child with an alcoholic pothead narcissist, and now I have to try to fix this on my own because I'm out of money. My case is in appeals, which I never should have done either. We should have requested a new trial and showed the proof of the perjury. My attorney didn't listen to anything. I told them, and I will tell you right now that if anything happens to my child, this company we'll be held accountable. As soon as I have time to look into representation, I'm filing against this company as well as I'm going to the media on what they did to me.

Tiffany and Bosco lawyers are negligent. It is obvious they are not paying attention to cases especially in the case of mine I had to keep repeating what was going on and when I tried to call in I was getting ignored I decided to ask the advise of another lawyer. A couple months later after not hearing from these people I get hit with a large bill. Mind you it was very hard to get in contact with these people after I paid my retainer. In my opinion I believe they are juggling multiple cases and trying to get the most income by accepting any client that calls in once you pay your retainer good luck on getting any attention on you or your case. These people are ridiculous and seem money hungry. STAY FAR AWAY!!

Went on vacation and things seemed to have turned for the worst. Contacted Lerner and Rowe and Sean was assigned to my case. Felt like I had ruined my life but Sean was with me every step of the way. If I called they answered or would get back with a prompt response. If I was overwhelmed Sean would keep me calm and provide ease of mind. Very knowledgeable and would recommend Lerner and Rowe every time. I appreciate all Sean has done for me and may God bless him for helping people that have had a bit of misfortune. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

This is my third encounter with an attorney over two different issues in the last 4 years. Deb is what I had expected! Old School, really wants to do the right thing instead of the old 'churn-and-burn' retainer methodology. I will be sending everyone I know to Deb and will absolutely user her in the future. We are so glad we chose the Folger Law Firm to represent us. The accident was traumatic enough and we weren't looking forward to dealing with all that is involved in filing an insurance claim. Bryan made the process less stressful and less complicated than we were expecting - especially dealing with the VA and Medicare. He walked us through the process step-by-step and communicated with us well along the way. He was personable, professional and efficient and the outcome was better than we could have hoped for. He returned our calls and emails expediently and was always available to answer our questions in a reasonable amount of time. We highly recommend his firm to anyone who has been involved in an accident. Diane

What an Elder Law Lawyer Can Do for You

An elder law lawyer specializes in legal issues that affect older adults, their families, and caregivers. These lawyers handle a broad range of topics, including estate planning, Medicaid and Medicare, long-term care planning, guardianship, elder abuse, and retirement planning. The goal of an elder law lawyer is to protect the rights, finances, and well-being of elderly individuals and to help them plan for future healthcare and financial security.

If you or a loved one is aging and facing challenges related to healthcare, finances, or legal matters, an elder law lawyer can provide essential guidance to protect your rights and interests as you age.

When Should I Hire an Elder Law Lawyer?

Hiring an elder law lawyer can be beneficial in many situations where older adults need help with legal, financial, or healthcare-related decisions. Common reasons to hire an elder law lawyer include:

  • Estate planning: If you want to create or update a will, set up trusts, or ensure that your assets are distributed according to your wishes, an elder law lawyer can help with comprehensive estate planning.
  • Medicaid and Medicare planning: If you need help qualifying for Medicaid to cover long-term care or need advice on navigating Medicare benefits, a lawyer can guide you through the application process and protect your assets.
  • Long-term care planning: If you’re concerned about paying for nursing home care or assisted living, a lawyer can help you create a financial plan and explore options for government assistance.
  • Guardianship or conservatorship: If a family member is unable to make decisions due to age-related cognitive issues, an elder law lawyer can assist in setting up legal guardianship or conservatorship to ensure their care.
  • Elder abuse and exploitation: If you or a loved one is experiencing physical, emotional, or financial abuse, an elder law lawyer can help you take legal action to stop the abuse and recover damages.
  • Retirement planning: Elder law lawyers can assist with planning for retirement, including managing pensions, Social Security, and other retirement income.
  • Special needs planning: If you have a disabled family member who requires special care, an elder law lawyer can help create trusts or other legal arrangements to ensure their long-term financial and healthcare needs are met.

What Does an Elder Law Lawyer Do?

An elder law lawyer provides a wide range of legal services to help older adults and their families navigate the complexities of aging, healthcare, and estate planning. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Drafting wills and trusts: Creating legal documents that outline how an individual’s assets will be distributed after death, ensuring that their wishes are honored.
  • Medicaid and Medicare planning: Helping clients protect their assets while qualifying for government benefits to cover healthcare and long-term care costs.
  • Establishing guardianships: Assisting families in setting up guardianship or conservatorship for loved ones who are unable to make decisions due to mental or physical incapacity.
  • Protecting against elder abuse: Investigating claims of elder abuse or financial exploitation and representing the victim in legal actions to stop the abuse and seek compensation.
  • Planning for long-term care: Developing strategies to cover the costs of nursing homes, assisted living, and other long-term care options without exhausting the elder’s financial resources.
  • Managing probate and estate administration: Guiding families through the probate process to ensure that the decedent’s assets are distributed according to the law and their wishes.
  • Setting up advance directives: Helping clients establish healthcare directives and powers of attorney to ensure their medical and financial decisions are carried out if they become incapacitated.

How Are Elder Law Lawyers Paid?

Elder law lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the type of legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: Many elder law lawyers charge by the hour, especially for tasks such as drafting documents, handling legal disputes, or providing ongoing legal advice. Hourly rates typically range from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For specific tasks, such as drafting a will or setting up a trust, some lawyers charge a flat fee. This can range from $500 to $5,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the estate plan.
  • Retainer: For long-term legal representation, such as managing a trust or handling guardianship matters, a lawyer may charge a retainer, which is an upfront payment that covers future legal work.
  • Contingency fee: In some elder abuse or financial exploitation cases, a lawyer may work on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if they recover compensation for the client. This fee is typically a percentage of the settlement or damages awarded.

Be sure to discuss fees with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how you will be billed and what the total cost of services might be.

How Much Does an Elder Law Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an elder law lawyer varies depending on the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the fee structure. General cost estimates include:

  • Simple estate planning: Drafting basic documents, such as a will or power of attorney, may cost between $500 and $2,000, depending on the complexity of the client’s assets and wishes.
  • Complex estate planning: Setting up more advanced estate plans, such as revocable or irrevocable trusts, Medicaid planning, or special needs trusts, can range from $2,000 to $10,000 or more.
  • Guardianship or conservatorship: Legal fees for setting up guardianship or conservatorship often range from $2,000 to $5,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case and whether disputes arise.
  • Medicaid planning: Legal fees for Medicaid planning can range from $1,500 to $10,000, depending on the level of asset protection needed and the complexity of the individual’s financial situation.

Always ask for an estimate of fees during your initial consultation to ensure you understand how much the legal services will cost.

Top Questions to Ask an Elder Law Lawyer

Before hiring an elder law lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they have the experience and expertise needed to handle your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with elder law cases?
Make sure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it's estate planning, Medicaid applications, or elder abuse claims.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, a flat fee, or a retainer, and ask for a detailed estimate of the total cost.
  3. What is the best approach for my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your situation and what legal strategies the lawyer recommends.
  4. How long will the process take?
Whether it’s drafting an estate plan or setting up a guardianship, ask the lawyer how long they expect the process to take.
  5. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of the case. Make sure you know who will be working on your case directly.
  6. What documents should I bring to the consultation?
Ask the lawyer what documentation or information you should prepare for your consultation, such as medical records, financial statements, or prior legal documents.

How to Check the Credibility of an Elder Law Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable elder law lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and experience:

  • Check their bar status: Verify with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for elder law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in elder law and have experience with cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on elder law issues.
  • Check for certifications: Look for certifications or affiliations with organizations such as the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), which can indicate the lawyer’s dedication to elder law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with an elder law lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Existing estate planning documents: If you have a will, trust, or power of attorney in place, bring copies for the lawyer to review.
  • Financial records: Provide details of your assets, including bank accounts, investments, real estate, and retirement accounts, as well as any debts.
  • Medical information: If the case involves guardianship or Medicaid planning, bring relevant medical records that detail the individual's health condition and care needs.
  • Insurance policies: Bring information about health insurance, long-term care insurance, and any other relevant policies.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Write down any questions you have about your legal needs, the process, and the lawyer’s fees.
  • List of family members or beneficiaries: Prepare a list of the individuals you want to include in your estate plan or who will be affected by the legal process.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your situation more effectively and receive the best legal advice tailored to your needs.
