My recent experience with Manikas PLC for estate planning exceeded my expectations.
Before delving into the process of estate planning, I am not sure my husband and I fully understood what not planning would mean for us and our family. One of the most valuable parts of the experience was the planning meeting where Kyle walked us through the specifics of what would happen to our home in probate and my children if there were no legal precautions taken. It was a stark reality check that every parent should experience.
As we worked through the planning, what impressed us the most was the genuine sense of commitment that Kyle had. There was an ongoing collaboration to make sure that all the details, like the deed and other aspects of the trust funding, were taken care of so that the plan would work when we needed it. Kyle was available to address our questions and concerns as my husband and I worked through the process, which was very reassuring. When we needed to learn how to manage our sister's anticipated inheritance, it didn't take long to settle on the Farr Law Firm for advice. After a thorough review of our situation, they revised my mother's revocable living trust and prepared a Special Needs Trust for my sister. Walt and his team are top notch! Walt and Laurel helped us 10 years ago to navigate the guardianship for our autistic son. This process is a very difficult and lengthy process. Years later he has been assisting us with a revocable living trust and a special needs trust to protect our assets. Walt is retired military as our family is as well. There are special circumstances that Walt knows how to navigate in regards to military benefits. He is highly knowledgeable and professional as well as very friendly. Walt likes to share his stories and puts a very stressful situation at ease. My parents and many of my friends have also worked with Walt. I highly recommend him for estate planning for your family. Those reviews helped me realize this is who I need to help me through my divorce. Frugal Legal Services should be the staple for how all parents are represented in custody cases. Ms. Burroughs worked hard and diligently on my case and set realistic expectations. My case had a ton of unrelated issues to custody and Ms. Burroughs was completely understanding and worked through our nearly 9 month case. Ms. Burroughs is a magical and enlightening person who gets results. I went from having no contact with my children to now everything is 50/50 and I get to see my sons every other week and have the assurance that no one should be able to change that. The only shame here is that I can only give Ms. Burroughs and Frugal Legal Services 5 stars because it doesn’t let you show off the absolute brilliance of the firm or Ms. Burroughs. Ms. Burroughs and Frugal Legal Services are the prime and top option of any family matters should anyone require those services. We had our estate planning done by another attorney several years ago and needed to update documents. Donna Wilson found several errors and inconsistencies in our old documents that would not only have cost us more money, but could have left us and our child unprotected at the time of our death or disability. As a couple quickly approaching the age for retirement, we turned to Donna Wilson and her team for help in protecting our wealth. The process was painless and easy to understand. This review is long overdue and is more than well-deserved. A couple of years back, I had visited Staunton, VA with some friends. Before the night was over, I had received a charge and had to return for court. I looked around at several attorneys and had a few consultations. After a few rounds of that, I found Susan through a Google search and contacted her. She offered a free consultation and spent 30+ minutes with me on the phone going over the details of my case and the events leading up to the charge. She was extremely knowledgeable, proactive, and genuine in the consultation, which really stood out to me more than the other attorneys I spoke with. She gave me very solid advice and offered a very fair price for representation. I thought it over for a couple of hours and I quickly called her back, which was a very good decision. In the months leading up to the court date, Susan checked in on me several times and gave advice. When the day finally came to go to court, Susan talked to the prosecuting attorney and they decided not to pursue the charges against me, and gave me 25 hours of community service instead. The anxiety and tension I felt about potentially having a charge on my record faded away after that date. I could not be more grateful for the great work that Susan did for me. I will always recommend her to anyone who's looking for legal representation in Staunton and the surrounding areas.

My husband left behind a very muddled and complicated estate with no will, loans that were owed him, real estate owned in several states, a construction project that was barely started, unpaid taxes, money in a foreign account that was frozen, a safe deposit box owned by him alone and a jealous girl friend who sued me.
Jean and her associates have helped me through the process of becoming the administrator of his estate, reactivate my late husbands LLC so I can continue the construction project and has countered the suit effectively. Jean has begun the process of forcing the repayments of the loans by placing liens against the debtors property which he has for sale thereby preventing sale without repayment of his loan. There is still much to be done, but I have confidence in Jean's ability to advise me and help me find the specialized help I need to complete this task..

We hired Mr. Sawyer to assist with an estate gift that was left to our non-profit organization. Our organization is not located in Virginia so we had to seek counsel in another state. Cathy, Leslie, and her team were awesome from 2020 through 2021. I couldn't ask for a better team. My mom went to the hospital in April 2020 end up in a medical coma for months. My mom didn't update her estate planning to allow for me to assist her in daily life. Mind you this is the first time I ever had to deal with something like this, I am a young 34 year woman. They educated me on different options on what to do, assist me with everything I had to do for my mom. I end up having to go to court to get guardianship/conservatorship for my mom. Leslie was awesome in assisting me with what I needed to do for court paperwork, accounting, etc. When my mom recover and she was able to get her rights back, Cathy took the time to speak with my mom to get her estate planning done as well get her rights back. My mom was impressed by the service they provide to her. Unfortunately, my mom passed away in April of this year, and again I went back to Cathy and her team for more guidance on what is best to do to avoid any issues. When it came to family disagreement on the Last Will, I ask for Leslie to help out to speak with my family. She was able to get them to come to an agreement to move things smoothly. I couldn't get through this mess in the last past two years without them. I would give them 10 stars if I could. They were very reasonable on price with me. Thank you so much for everything you have done!

The case was one where a family trust was questionably liquidated by the trustees to the exclusion of some of the beneficiaries. Earlier, another attorney had advised us that the harm to trust's excluded beneficiaries was not actionable and would probably result in the beneficiary plaintiffs being disinherited.
