But after our first meeting, Susan put me at ease, clearly explained the process and was patient when answering my questions. Iryna was informative, patient and transparent. She clearly explained me how I can protect myself and my son from unfavorable tax situations and probate court.

I had a two hour consultation with Mr. Lastra concerning my pending divorce and custody matter.
I have multiple children with my spouse, including a stepchild from their previous marriage whose life I've been a part of since they were very little. Shortly into our meeting, Mr. Lastra asked me about my children and whether our relationship was biological, and then explained very compassionately that - unfortunately - if it were contested by either or both of their biological parents, he would not be able to guarantee me custody of or access to my stepchild as a de facto parent. He assured me that if he were representing me and I truly did want to pursue it against all odds that he would do everything in his power to help, but cautioned that it would likely be a long and costly uphill battle with an uncertain outcome.
As heartbreaking as that was to hear, Mr. Lastra was the first lawyer to really prioritize and ask about my concerns for the children rather than choose to focus on my spouse and our finances and marital property. His honesty about that - the one outcome I care most about - gave me peace of mind that he wasn't just telling me what I want to hear to get me to sign his retainer.
Additionally, while his consultation was not free, without my even having to ask, Mr. Lastra was extremely considerate of my budget. At the very beginning of the meeting, he verified the hourly rate that I had been quoted previously and told me how long his consultations with other people typically lasted. Then, every twenty minutes or so, he was kind enough to let me know how much billable time had elapsed and allowed me to set the pace of our discussion accordingly.
Throughout the rest of our meeting, Mr. Lastra was both extremely inquisitive and educational. Rather than simply listen to my account of events, he engaged frequently, asking regular questions and taking notes. He also shared a wealth of his own knowledge, pulling from both general law and process as well as experiences gained from similar cases he'd handled in the past. During our consultation, I felt both well listened to and that I was speaking with an obvious expert.
Prior to our meeting, I had discussed this matter with a few other lawyers, and while they were all quite professional and empathetic, none of them felt like they were being as realistic with me about the possible timelines, outcomes, costs, and the availability of themselves and their associates to adequately represent me and my family's interests as Mr. Lastra did. Though his rates are above average, my first impression from my consultation is that there is very good justification for it. He has absolutely earned my endorsement.

Our experience with Lindsey as our estate planning attorney has been wonderful. We met her by accident, when we initially sought to hire another attorney in her firm. When that attorney was unavailable due to illness, we reviewed the credentials of all firm attorneys and selected Lindsey. After our initial consultation, we knew Lindsey was the attorney for us. Through the entire process, she impressed us with her knowledge, honesty, positive attitude and patience as we asked a multitude of questions. We were happy to sign all our papers after a few months, and appreciate all that Lindsey did to get us to that point.

I was referred to Lindsey by a co-worker after the death of my mother. I had never had to go through the process of dealing with the administration of an estate/trust of a loved one and from start to finish the process was made so less stressful with Lindsey's knowledge and expertise in the area. I will never forget our initial conversation, she spent some time at the start asking about my mom (the person) which was such a comfort and I knew right away she was the right fit for me. She was always very responsive whenever I had a question or needed help figuring something out and always explained things in terms I could understand. We had a few complications along the way that she helped sort out that not only saved us a significant amount of money but time in settling the estate. Victoria worked tirelessly on our IRS case. It wasn't even an audit but the IRS was treating it as if it were. We spent one year working through the issues that the IRS created. We did make some mistakes and had to make concessions, but Victoria gave us great advice. She kept us informed every step of the way and held the agent and management accountable. I was shocked to receive a 6 figure bill from the IRS (in error). I knew I needed a lawyer with super powers to help me muddle through that. Luckily I found Victoria and she was amazing. She knew exactly what to do with my complex case and in dealing with a complex organization. The matter was resolved with the IRS instead issuing me a refund. I first met Mrs. Sullivan when she presented an estate planning seminar at the federal agency I work at. Since that time I have attended three of her seminars and came away more impressed each time. She has the ability to make the complexities of estate planning easily understandable to the non-attorney. I was so impressed that my wife and I elected to use her for our estate planning. Throughout the process Mrs. Sullivan was professional, personable and very patient with our countless questions. She prepared Revokable Living Trusts, POA, wills and heath directives (basically a complete estate plan). Deborah (Debbie) Cohn set up an estate plan several years ago for
my wife and I. It was well thought out, detailed and allowed us to maximize the
estate transfer to our children.
When my wife died, I was surprised by the time and effort t required to
execute my wife's estate, even with all the legal documents in place. Debbie
stepped in and, with her assistant, did most of the estate work. Her knowledge and legal skills made this task much easier.
Subsequently, Debbie has revised my estate plan. She stays up to date
on legal changes that may affect my estate plan and assures that I consider
them as needed.

I hired Evan Goitein to represent me in a lawsuit against my Home-Owner Association. He was my second lawyer for this case, and I had wasted a lot of money on my first lawyer, who did not get much work accomplished. Mr. Goitein immediately put me at ease. He is very competent, strategic, and reliable. I trusted him completely. He is also compassionate and I could see that he actually cared about my case and getting the best outcomes for me. I supervise trust operations for a bank and Anne has advised me in a number of different capacities, both with clients and with internal trust company matters. Anne doesn't shoot from the hip-- she will provide you with a precise, accurate answer and if it is a complex matter that needs research, she will respond promptly and with spot on relevant advice. For someone so intelligent and detail oriented, you would think that her communications would be overly complex and difficult to comprehend. Not so. Anne is a master of simple, effective communications. There have also been moments when I've leaned on her in situations of risk. Her excellent judgment, compassion and experience working with a wide variety of clients came to bear to lead me through a few difficult client situations. Unfortunately my Mother passed away without having a Will or any of her Estate affairs in order. Prior to my mothers passing I had never handled an Estate before. I contacted a few attorneys but didn't feel they were the right fit for all of the complications pertaining to the Estate. Some attorney's weren't even willing to take it on. A neighbor of mine (who is an attorney) suggested that I contact Mr. Andre McDonald to handle my Mothers Estate. After our initial phone consultation, I knew immediately that he was the the right fit for all that needed to be accomplished. It was around the holidays. Mr. McDonald went above and beyond the typical duties that involve getting an Estate opened. He stayed involved and was on top of every aspect regarding the Estate throughout the entire process. He followed through with getting the Estate closed in a timely fashion. Mr. McDonald was very professional and knew exactly what to do and how to handle the Estate. He was always informative and reliable. Mr. McDonald always personally returned my phone calls and my emails in a timely manner. His staff was very pleasant and a joy to work with during a very hard time in my life. He kept me up to date on anything that needed to be done.
