I can’t recommend this team enough!
I was recommend to them by a friend after I got rear ended by a semi trailer. I remember the first time I set down with Mr. Reed. He explained to me very clearly how everything worked in a lawsuit.
The other party was not wanting to play ball but Mr. Reed, Charity and his team stayed on them. After a long battle. They helped me get all my medical bills paid from the other party. I can’t think them enough for all their hard work and determination.
You couldn’t ask for a more friendly team to represent you. Available 24/7 and has complete transparency.
Hopefully I will never need to hire a lawyer again. But if I do.

My family takes their legal business to Cannon & Anderson and we have never been disappointed. Attorney Ed Anderson represented my brother in worker's comp case when the insurance company refused to pay. Ed took it to trial and made them pay. Attorney Joel Cannon represented my mother when she was wrongly sued and the case was eventually dismissed. If my family has another legal problem, I will call Cannon & Anderson first.

Upon recommendation by a friend, we hired Stewart to prepare an estate plan and all related documents, including a Revocable Living Trust, Durable and General Power of Attorney and Last Will and Testament. My wife and I found Stewart to be knowledgeable, direct, sincere, honest and reliable. We met with him at our home for an initial consultation where he explained the process and gathered our information. We were impressed with his expertise and thoroughness and his ability to explain legal information in terms we could understand. Stewart then drew up all the Draft documents for us to review. After having answered all of our questions and making changes, a Final set of documents was drawn up for signing. Stewart was readily available to us throughout the process. What I initially thought would be a daunting painful process, turned out to be straight forward and simple. I give credit to Stewart for making it so. We also found his rates to be very reasonable.

Seth Oakes was recommended to me as a very smart, kind and compassionate lawyer who excelled in writing wills. There aren't enough words to compliment his skill as a lawyer. After having problems with my old will and making him understand what I wanted to do, he immediately corrected documents that were upsetting to me and gave me the right to have the will written to my specifications. Justin Bell represented me in a case where I was charged with felony possession. I was offered a felony plea, but Mr. Bell held a preliminary hearing and fought very hard for me because he knew I was not guilty of what I was charged with. After the hearing, the Class-B Felony charge was reduced to a misdemeanor. I've never seen another attorney get that done. If you are over-charged with a crime you are not guilty of, I would definitely recommend having Mr. Bell represent you because he gets results.

I was the victim of a domestic assault and was physically injured as a result. however, I was falsely accused and charge with a class D felony for as legally providing a false report to the investigator officer. But Mr. Bell believed in me and fought for me and my rights and having a hearing general sessions court. After question the officer on the stand, Mr. Bell was able to establish that any information given to the officer claimed was not true, had nothing to do with whether or not the assault occurred. So the judge dismissed the case right on the spot. If you want a good lawyer, one that really kind, intelligent and Works fast Mr. Bell is your man!

I needed an estate attorney for my 90+ year old parents to update Wills, prepare a Living Trust, and prepare Powers of Attorney, Healthcare POA's, Living Wills and Deed changes for the Trust. After interviewing 7 Knoxville attorneys/law firms, I settled on Stephen Carpenter at Carpenter & Lewis. He had fixed pricing (very reasonable for an entire Estate Package) and was impressive and personable on the phone.
We have now completed the process and we could NOT be happier with the result. My parents were so complimentary of the very process that they were dreading. Stephen is HIGHLY knowledgeable, tax and estate savvy, detail oriented and is so very down to earth, professional and responsive. His documents were amazing and needed very few changes. He is an avid listener and translated our unique needs into legal language so very well. He was great in explaining everything and answered all our questions in terms we could all understand. The process was painless!
I did my own estate documents 10 years ago in another state using a large, high powered law firm -- Believe me -- Stephen's process was 10 TIMES better - and a lot less expensive. Stephen knows how to do this and how to guide you through it VERY WELL! Also, Lorie, his assistant, was a joy to work with, so pleasant and service oriented.
I do NOT do reviews of things on the web...but, after using Carpenter & Lewis' services, I wanted all of you who are looking to do estate planning to know -- YOU WILL NOT GO WRONG WITH THEM!!!! So, do yourself a favor...if you want a great outcome, if you want super value for your money, if you want to deal with very pleasant, personable and responsive people who are experts and pros at what they do -- use Stephen Carpenter at Carpenter & Lewis. It's not a large law firm...it's a small, highly effective, service oriented group. You won't regret it...and perhaps afterwards, you'll also WANT to write a review of them to help others who are trying to decide who to use for some of the most important legal documents in their life.

I have been using Elder Law of East Tennessee for over 10 years and would (and have) recommend them many times. They have always provided excellent assistance and information with legal, financial and other elder care issues. I started with estate planning for my mother, and for several years they helped with navigating financial and care benefits. In addition to their legal assistance, their team includes a valuable Care Coordinator. Then as next of kin, I was unexpectedly needing to care for an elderly cousin’s estate who died and left a mostly invalid
mother in a nursing home. Complicating the situation, all her ID's, health cards, SSA, etc., had been stolen with her son’s wallet. ELET was able to assist in establishing a POA for her and estate related documents from nothing, so we could care for my aunt in her final months while handling her affairs and estate. They were always knowledgeable and friendly, aiding in various forms with four elderly relatives and their deaths. We could not navigate these challenging processes without them walking us through each phase that was unfamiliar to us. Our family highly recommends this team for estate planning prior to needing it.

My divorce experience was a long, painful nightmare using two different attorneys. While I recognized the need for extra time due to the pandemic and court closures, my first attorney failed to respond to any type of communication. Phone calls were useless and it took me 5 email attempts to get even one response. My second attorney was more responsive to my communication, however, slow to make any moves. We ended up in court in front of a judge which was a stressful and unnecessary ending to an already irritating process. I swear my divorce could've been completed in 30 days had I have had a supportive team behind me.
Fast forward to the need to relocate out of state (like across the country out of state) with my two children and I knew I needed to find better representation. Someone who was truly prepared to fight for me as I knew it wouldn't be easy. John was recommended to me in the middle of my divorce by several people, but at that point it was too late in the case. I knew that he would be the person to turn to when it came time for this next fight because of the successful outcomes of the recommending parties.
John did not disappoint. His responses were prompt and full of useful information. He kept me informed of the process, deadlines and delays. He had a plan mapped out for me right away and made sure I understood what I needed to do in order to move the process along. He was familiar with the laws, gave me his expert opinion on what to do legally once I had moved out of state and helped me through a surprisingly quick and painless mediation process. I'm writing this after my cross country move that went off without a hitch truly thanks to John's expertise, professionalism and solid work ethic.
I would recommend him 1,000,000 times over to anyone who is looking for an attorney. I honestly don't think you can find anyone better.

The owner of apartments that border my property was negligent in maintaining his trees. The trees posed a danger to my property, including my house. Mr. McClanahan did his homework by having The University of Tennessee extension agent come to my property and assess the danger of the trees. Then, armed with the evidence, sent a letter to the owner of the apartments. I had been requesting that the trees be cut for over six months, but within one week of Mr. McClanahan's action the dangerous trees were cut and removed! Now my yard is safe and I am a fan of the excellent work of Matthew McClanahan!

My husband and I were referred to Ms. Gilliam for legal advice in setting up documents to cover situations as we age. She met with us for just 1/2 hour to establish our needs and advise us on which documents are needed (e.g., Power of Attorney, Last Will and Testament, Living Will). In addition, she explained the importance of establishing beneficiaries on savings accounts and when it is important to set up Trusts.
After this short, but informative meeting, she conveyed additional information via email so that we could decide on the basics of how we wanted these documents prepared.
Ms. Gilliam used our next meeting to finalize our agreements so that she could prepare the documents. Then we closed out this important process with another short meeting where he staff stayed after hours to make last minute changes and print the final documents for our signatures.
In addition to her efficiency, she was very pleasant and professional to work with. She kept us on task with a good sense of humor. And, the cost for her services were slightly less than other attorneys we are aware of that provided similar services.
My husband and I highly recommend Ms. Gilliam for professional legal services. In fact, our daughters plan to use her services when they are ready to complete these documents for themselves.

When it came time for me to create an LLC that required strongly worded, specific niche contracts I instantly knew who to hire. She's setting up our LLC, complete with all the specifics that were clearly explained in our initial consultation. She offered her advice, but was also a great listener.
