I hired Mark a year or so ago. My case is long and difficult to explain so I will spare the details. In my professional capacity, I had the misfortune of dealing with a man who clearly hated life and everyone in it. This man was pure evil. For no certain reason , he wanted to ruin me, my career, and anything or anyone else he could. Long story short, Mark swooped in like a knight and saved me! We went to court. Mark was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and skillful in that courtroom. Of course, he won the case for me. I would and have recommend Mark for your legal needs.

I can not say enough great things about this law firm. They truly work together as a team and it’s all hands on deck when needed to get stuff done. Dana and Thomas are amazing attorneys and really provided me with the best advice. Because of them, my case ended quickly and with little hassle and I’m happy with the results. Brittany was quick to respond to my inquiry and get me set up with a consultation. Emily did an amazing job at staying in contact with me and helping me during the initial consultation process. Ashleigh was helpful in ensuring things were scheduled correctly and answering any questions I had. Terri was kind and did amazing in making sure everything was set up and ready to go for our meetings. I appreciate everything the law firm did in helping me.

Mr. Palmer and the Palmer Law Group recently helped me with modification of an existing order. Extremely altruistic law firm! Practical and honest. I'm impressed by this firm's organization. Their system to organize cases and charge for time spent on cases is amazing! Responsive group of people who go above and beyond! Also, check out their show to get insights into their character. Went in for a consultation with Palmer Law Group after having to terminate my previous lawyer due to communication barriers. I got ahold of someone as soon as I called to schedule an appointment and they were able to get me in the next morning. I called back later because I forgot my appointment time and got a phone call back AFTER HOURS from Emily who was able to confirm the time. I have never seen a law office that is willing to go above and beyond working around the clock to ensure clients needs are addressed. They also seem to have implemented some excellent software to keep the entire team on the same page regarding cases. I left the consultation knowing that Dana already knew what approach was necessary in order to get the results I wanted. He didnt sugar coat anything and was up front about potential costs for each step.

Farhana really helped me navigate the review and execution of my pre-nuptial agreement. Farhana made herself available even though we had a very short turn around time. She took the time to walk me through the process, advocated for what I needed, and helped explain exactly what was in the agreement line by line. It was great knowing that I had a trustworthy attorney that could really guide me on making the right decisions.

Mr. Bohmer came in to assist on the tail end of our case, a little before we went to trial for a 2 1/2 year long, messy, nerve-wracking, visitation modification case for my husband. He was an amazing asset and kept us in the right frame of mind. Opposing counsel kept getting under our skin, but he just kept talking us through everything with confidence and a huge smile on his face! He was very quick thinking under pressure and was able to take a step back from his emotions invested in the case to help get our story out to the judge how it needed to be told. I am so very grateful to him for the hard work he put into our case and more importantly, getting emotionally invested enough to truly be ecstatic for us when he helped us achieved what we set out to achieve!

Much like some other reviewers, my father passed without a will. Everything seemed to be in order until my siblings and I each received a letter that was concerning...and none of us knew what to do about. We tried the route of "look it up online", but all it did was cause more confusion. I reached out to Mr. Jones' office and explained my situation. Mr. Jones called me back in a timely manner, provided us with much needed guidance, and put us at ease. I have not had many dealings with attorneys, but the few that I have were not nearly as satisfactory as this. I had prepared myself mentally to pay SOME amount of money for his time, but Mr. Jones did not charge me for his "priceless" advice. I was treated with respect, and I feel like he genuinely cared about my situation...much like I was a long time client. I hope this doesn't come across as some "mindless, can do no wrong, glowing review". I am not the review leaving type, and for me to do this says something. As I get older and have a family of my own, Mr. Jones will be the one to handle my estate planning.

My father died without a will and had property out of state. This was a complicated matter that my family and I have been trying to resolve since 2012. I called Mr.Jone's office explaining my situation. Mr.Jones called me back within 30mins and listened our case. Mr.Jones genuinely cared about our situation and took it upon himself to call the attorney we were working with in Louisiana. Something that took us 2 years to resolve; with Mr.Jone's help we were able to resolve the matter in less then 2 weeks. We all have stereotyped lawyers and attorneys and I will tell you that Mr.Jones was either. Since there wasn't any paper to be done in Texas, Mr.Jones and his office did not charge for his time and efforts in resolving our issue. This is unheard of in today's society and it put my faith back in humanity. There are individuals that truly care about your situation and not looking to make a quick buck. I cannot thank Mr.Jones enough for his efforts and I would highly recommend anyone needing a probate lawyer to contact Mr.Jones. Thank you!

Eric was an outstanding attorney that I highly recommend. He made legal jargon simple to understand and relatable, provided honest feedback, laid out the groundwork on what I should expect, and he was available day in and day out through my entire divorce process. He made me feel like we were a true team working to accomplish the best and most fair possible outcome. Although I hope to never go through the process again, if I did, Eric would be the first person I’d call. Eric represented me with honor, and is someone I trust entirely.

Eric not only knew my case inside and out but also remembered who I was as an individual, he never left a phone call unless he knew I was going to be okay. Mr. Sera represented my son several months ago, and unlike most criminal defense attorneys and/or public defenders who have a tendency to go in and shake hands with the DA and then feed you to the system and/or judge, Mr. Sera advocated for my son Jonathan and got him a time served ruling. My son had prior felony convictions and was possibly looking at a lengthy stay in TDC. Mr. Sera always took our calls and was thorough in his responses to all our questions. He was truthful and always asked "Are there any other questions or concerns I can help you with?" before ending our call. He was attentive and engaged. If I could I'd give him 10 stars. We were/are very fortunate to have him as representation in a time that is so uncertain. Much respect to GENE SERA!! Thank you for everything!

We had an uncontested will with 2 property name changes we needed probated. We talked to 4 firms but went with Anderson Estate Planning because I knew Scott personally and felt confident his firm would do a good job, even though they were the most expensive firm we talked to. As you see they have changed their name. We were assigned a lawyer named Adam. They did complete the probate process and property name changes. After the zoom court hearing we never heard from them unless we contacted them for an update. When contacted, Adam’s responses could take up to 3 weeks. He was not always current on the case, giving incorrect status updates. We felt as if we were treated like a pro-bono case. I did address this twice with Scott Anderson but nothing improved. At this point we just hope everything that should have been covered in the process was and cannot recommend them to others.

He gave me clear instructions to follow, which I did, and it led to the results I needed the same day! I never obtained him as my legal counsel officially and his help took me further than I’d gotten in 8 months of trying alone. FREE OF CHARGE. When I called him I was ready to spend however much necessary to handle my situation, but he saved me God knows how much money. If I ever need an attorney in the future I’ll be sure to turn to them again. Highly recommend!!!

My daughter and her husband just signed for this law office to take their case. So far its not going well. Enterprise called to tell my daughter to bring in the rental by 5 p.m but they have not provided her with any money to purchase a new car after stating her car was totaled. How the heck do they expect her to go back and forth to work? Not to mention, she was hit from the back at no fault of her on. I feel with an Attorney, they should take care of this for my daughter and she should not have stress about this. I will send an update soon but so far, customer service is not looking good. This should never be an issue when both parties have full coverage insurance. I will update the stars to 5 if they handle business for my babies. Will update soon. Update- 8.25.24 They did finally pay off my daughters car. My daughter had to continually call the office ,all in all I will upgrade them to a 4 star but they need to reach out to the clients more often and communicate better.

They have a team of attorneys so you may not have the attorney that sits down with you initially but whoever they assign to your case is more than competent. I sat down with Mallory initially but ended up a ex district attorney now working for the Edgett law firm who the judge made a point to tell me was a great attorney. **Edit** I chose not to include any details, but since there is a reply there are things to address now. Thank you for giving me a template. You are surprised about my one (1) star review? When I FIRED you? When you returned almost no calls or emails, and scheduled a face to face meeting and you didn't show to that? And still refused my call so I waited around about half an hour... Now then, I asked to file a hearing to have my bond conditions (the one that prohibited me from talking to my wife AFTER the PO expired) and you claimed that could not be done. Even though the Honorable Judge told me in arraignment that I could do so, and "best of luck to [me]." Turns out you were wrong, and my then new attorney said that should have been done long ago, and the hearing was made and the judge granted it as we desired. It was you who told me a bond condition did not apply to me. I asked when and how to submit a drug test as it was clearly on a generic form of bond conditions, or "conditions of bond." You told me that condition didn't apply to me without any explanation. And if that were the case, what else might have been?! Your communication is a complete 0. My other attorney, Mr. Kent Starr, was fantastic and everything I hoped for in an attorney. He removed the bond conditions, he dismissed in less than a month the first case, and then ultimately dismissed the other case. Complete dismissals when you told me you were going to 'try' for a "conditional dismissal." I only ever fully complied and did as I was asked. My mistake was trusting you for as long as I did. Your next sentence starting with "Finally" is riddled with false claims, and shows your level of thoroughness. #1 the World Health Organization defines middle age as being 44-60 years of age. Well, you overshot the lowest mark by about 143%. Not only that, I never asked you to communicate with any family members "individually," but rather be included in email correspondence. You neither made clear, nor gave a half-baked explanation. You only left them off of emails, etc. Again, it didn't take more time. The conditions were indeed modified. While CPS attorneys (who didn't have anything to do with THIS case) and the state expressed zero support. I fully complied with all judges' orders, hence modifying the conditions through hearings. Lastly, I left this one (1) star review AFTER all cases were completely dismissed with 0 conditions. Charges were never filed as a felony, but a misdemeanor. And by the time of this review, dismissed. I would expect a law firm to be able to look that up and fact-check what they write.

After paying a total of $300 for two consultations, 15-min each, at a different law firm and not receiving sufficient guidance on how to move forward with my situation regarding a real estate matter, I decided to continue my search in finding what I deemed to be adequate legal counsel. Therefore, I conducted an online search and came across the Law Office of Bradley Voyles. His reviews seemed extraordinary, and I was eager to give his office a call in hopes of setting up an appointment to speak with him as soon as he was available to meet with me. When I called his office, I was hoping I would be able to quickly pay my consultation fees and schedule an appointment with Mr. Voyles to have my issues addressed within the next 1-2 weeks or so. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find out from his receptionist that although Mr. Voyles was currently in court at the time of my call, I was promised he would call me back later that same day to go over my concerns. From the moment I called Mr. Voyles's office, I was immediately impressed at how courteous his staff was, and in how responsive Mr. Voyles was in getting back to me in the same day. I was not expecting this level of service at all! Furthermore, when I called his office, I was surprised that at no time during the call were consultation fees ever brought up. Usually law offices want to charge your credit card lots of $$$ before you can even just say, "hello" to an attorney. But this was not the case here. I genuinely felt like Mr. Voyles and his staff's primary concern was just immediately addressing my concerns and nothing more. In fact, when Mr. Voyles called me, he spoke to me for over 40 minutes. He also asked me to email him documentation and real estate contracts regarding some of the matters I discussed with him, and after wrapping up our conversation, he still never asked for any consultation fees. I'm honestly in awe at how patient Mr. Voyles was with me during the call and with how informative he had been. The level of legal service I was provided by him was unparalleled to anything I've received elsewhere. I honestly cannot see myself entertaining another law firm on any related legal matters, just based off the recent experiences I've had with Mr. Voyles and his staff. Mr. Voyles, this is how you create relationships that are mutually beneficial between the attorney and client! Thank you so much for everything you've done to help me! Sincerely, Andrew L.

What an Estate Planning Lawyer Can Do for You

An estate planning lawyer helps individuals plan for the management and distribution of their assets after death or during incapacitation. Their services involve drafting important legal documents, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives. Estate planning attorneys work to ensure that your assets are transferred according to your wishes, minimize tax liabilities, and avoid probate court. They also help clients plan for potential long-term care needs and protect their estate from being diminished by healthcare costs.

By working with an estate planning lawyer, you can have peace of mind knowing that your loved ones will be cared for and that your estate will be managed efficiently and according to your desires.

When Should I Hire an Estate Planning Lawyer?

Hiring an estate planning lawyer is beneficial in many situations, especially when you want to ensure that your assets are handled properly after death. Common reasons to hire an estate planning lawyer include:

  • Drafting a will: If you want to clearly define how your assets will be distributed after death, an attorney can draft a legally sound will.
  • Creating a trust: For those looking to avoid probate or provide for loved ones over time, setting up a trust can help manage the distribution of assets.
  • Planning for incapacity: An estate lawyer can help draft powers of attorney and healthcare directives so that your financial and medical decisions are made by someone you trust if you become incapacitated.
  • Minimizing estate taxes: If your estate is large, a lawyer can help create strategies to reduce or eliminate federal and state estate taxes.
  • Special circumstances: If you have minor children, blended families, or complex assets like businesses, an estate planning lawyer can create tailored solutions.
  • Guardianship or conservatorship: If you want to designate guardians for minor children or ensure proper care for incapacitated adults, an attorney can help.

Hiring an estate planning lawyer is especially important if your estate is complex or if you want to ensure that your wishes are properly followed.

What Does an Estate Planning Lawyer Do?

An estate planning lawyer provides a range of services designed to help you organize your affairs and ensure your estate is managed according to your wishes. They can:

  • Draft wills and trusts: Creating legally binding documents that dictate how your assets will be distributed and managed.
  • Create powers of attorney and healthcare directives: Appointing someone to make financial or medical decisions for you if you become incapacitated.
  • Minimize taxes: Developing strategies to reduce estate taxes, gift taxes, and other financial liabilities for your heirs.
  • Help avoid probate: Structuring your estate plan to avoid probate, which can save time and money for your beneficiaries.
  • Advise on long-term care planning: Helping you plan for potential healthcare needs in the future, including Medicaid planning and protecting assets from being depleted by nursing home costs.
  • Assist with beneficiary designations: Ensuring that life insurance policies, retirement accounts, and other financial instruments are correctly designated.
  • Handle probate and estate administration: If a loved one has passed away, an estate planning lawyer can help guide you through the probate process or act as an executor.

How Are Estate Planning Lawyers Paid?

Estate planning lawyers typically charge for their services in one of several ways, depending on the complexity of your estate and the type of services you need. Common payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: Many estate planning services, such as drafting a will or trust, are charged on a flat-fee basis. The fee covers all work related to preparing the document.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex planning, such as estate tax strategy or trust administration, lawyers may charge by the hour. Rates vary based on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Retainer: Some lawyers require a retainer for more complex cases, such as ongoing trust management or estate administration. The retainer is an upfront payment that covers future legal services.

It’s important to discuss fees with your lawyer upfront to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does an Estate Planning Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an estate planning lawyer depends on the complexity of your estate and the services you require. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Simple wills or powers of attorney: A straightforward will or power of attorney may cost between $300 and $1,500, depending on your location and the lawyer’s experience.
  • Trust creation: Establishing a trust, such as a living trust or revocable trust, can cost between $1,000 and $3,000 or more, depending on the complexity of your assets and estate planning needs.
  • Comprehensive estate planning packages: Some lawyers offer packages that include wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives, which may range from $2,000 to $5,000 or more, depending on the estate’s complexity.
  • Hourly rates: For ongoing services like estate administration or tax planning, lawyers may charge hourly rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience.

Always get a clear estimate of costs during your initial consultation to ensure the services fit within your budget.

Top Questions to Ask an Estate Planning Lawyer

Before hiring an estate planning lawyer, it’s important to ask questions to ensure they are the right fit for your needs. Here are key questions to ask during your consultation:

  1. What is your experience with estate planning?
Ensure the lawyer has substantial experience drafting wills, creating trusts, and handling other estate planning services.
  2. How will you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a flat fee or by the hour and ask for a detailed estimate of costs.
  3. What strategies do you recommend for my estate?
A good lawyer should be able to explain the best strategies for minimizing taxes, avoiding probate, and ensuring your assets are distributed according to your wishes.
  4. How often should I update my estate plan?
Ask how frequently you should revisit your estate plan, especially if your financial situation or family dynamics change.
  5. Do you offer ongoing support or updates?
Some lawyers provide periodic reviews or updates to ensure your estate plan stays current with changes in your circumstances or the law.
  6. How will you help my beneficiaries if something happens to me?
Ensure the lawyer is willing to guide your heirs through the estate administration process or help manage your trust after you’re gone.

How to Check the Credibility of an Estate Planning Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a credible estate planning lawyer, follow these steps:

  • Verify their state bar license: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing, with no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for estate planning certifications: Some lawyers are certified as estate planning specialists, which indicates they have extensive knowledge in this area of law.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online reviews on sites like Avvo, Google, or Martindale-Hubbell can provide insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and client satisfaction.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from previous clients who can speak to their expertise and client service.
  • Check for membership in professional organizations: Lawyers who are members of organizations like the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) or the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) often have a strong reputation in the field.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with an estate planning lawyer, it’s important to come prepared. Here’s what you should bring:

  • List of assets and liabilities: Provide a detailed inventory of your assets, including real estate, bank accounts, retirement funds, investments, and personal property, as well as any debts you may have.
  • List of beneficiaries: Be ready to discuss who you want to receive your assets and in what proportions. This includes naming guardians for minor children if applicable.
  • Existing estate documents: Bring copies of any existing wills, trusts, powers of attorney, or other relevant estate planning documents.
  • Questions about your estate goals: Write down your goals, such as avoiding probate, reducing taxes, or setting up charitable donations, so your lawyer can tailor a plan to meet your needs.
  • Information on medical and financial decision-makers: Be prepared to discuss who you want to appoint for healthcare and financial decisions if you become incapacitated.

By being well-prepared, you can ensure a productive consultation and begin building a comprehensive estate plan that meets your needs and protects your loved ones.
