Adam Crosier and his paralegal Rebecca were THE BEST. They made my WC case go so smoothly and were there to answer any question or concern I had throughout the entire process. They made a horrible situation much more manageable for myself and my family. Thank you so much!

Although we are still in the process and the matter of my divorce is not finalized, I cannot say enough about the practice of Berman Voss as well as my personal attorney, Priscilla Natale. The communication and attention to detail to keep everyone up to date is above and beyond. The practice is transparent with fees and very itemized, allowing for planning and preparation with regards to payments. Should you need an attorney or a practice that truly cares about their clients and does nothing short of properly representing the client's best interest, this is it!

I followed Priscilla to this law firm because she proved she cared about her clients . She listened to my reasons for divorce, why I wished to have absolutely no contact with my ex and assured me she would take care of the process. And she did! She offered expert advice about property division, but left the final decision to me. She and her team were very responsive when I had questions. The best experience with legal professionals I've ever had.

This was a tough case and in a new Court House and territory! We did well at each Hearing from the very beginning. Attorney Kim knows what to do and gets it done right. Attorney Kim and her Paralegal even helped me with a Custody issue for an emergency on a Saturday afternoon! Could not be happier with the outcome. Highly recommend Lengert Law Firm.

I have dealt with numerous attorneys throughout my educational, professional and personal life. Thru those experiences I have learned to be skeptical and very careful of those practicing. That being said I have never had the amount of trust or respect that I have for Kim Lengert. I promise you will not find a finer attorney but more importantly a finer person. If you’re in need of an attorney practicing in Child Custody or Adoption please do yourself a favor and call Kim Lengert. I'm glad I did. Thank You Kim!!!!!!

I spoke to Mr. Hoffman in a consultation, unprepared and unpaid and yet it was utterly simple to get through to him twice and speak in details and care that even my current paid lawyer and other lawyers (with paid consultation) never showed! He showed extensive experience, genuinely caring attitude and even when he couldn't take my case for reasons pertaining to his current work and a possible conflict he gave me a very candid advise and a potential road map to follow! Where on earth do you find something like that? Most lawyers drain you emotionally and financially before turning you from a human into a case in their files and a number in their bank accounts, I understand it's a business and living to these lawyers so I never judge them on that but I would at least expect honesty to what they or their experience can do for me and the very minimal of care for myself and my family, nothing more (God forbid I ask for a bulldog in the courtroom that's like finding a unicorn!) Mr. Hoffman doesn't advertise or run flashy marketing campaigns like other lawyers do so I was only able to find him throw a word of mouth, and how I wished I could retain him! He is a gem.

Had Chris still been with Rowe Law offices, I know we would have won my case and custody of my children. Not only did Rowe not inform me that Chris had left the practice, they waited until last minute to let me know and to get someone new caught up to speed. In the one pre trial Chris had assisted me with, we got to keep the house in the district where my kids go to school. So that was already a win in our favor. Once he left, it all fell apart. My new lawyer who represented me didn't spend 10 minutes defending me against my ex's accusations and spent 0 minutes attacking her and bringing anything to light. Rowe Law offices charges us about 15k and didn't do anything. I know if we had Chris, the way he was the first time I met him, he wouldn't have stood for how this case went down. If I could find him and afford to go back, Chris is the guy I would go with. Instead, I have 15k in debt and basically kids will have to relocate out of state after this school year and we will share 50/50 custody and my son's grandmother with whom his mom lives with was just arrested for biting my son, 2nd degree assault. Sounds like it be a cu and dry case but without Chris, I don't stand a shot. Really missed you Chris

I received unknown papers in the mail from the sept of revenue and was asked to bring them into the office. But when I was there asking questions Cheryl stepped in and I was treated very rudely when I was simply trying to understand the situation. Her response was uncalled for and unprofessional making my first experience in the office one I pray no one should ever need to deal with, especially after the loss of a loved one.

I interviewed with several attorneys as I have some upcoming legal matters that need to be addressed. I like the way Jill talked with me. She explained everything in a way that I could easily understand. She conducts herself in a professional manner, unlike some other attorneys that I interviewed. She is also reasonably priced for the level of expertise that she will provide. I feel confident that I found my future attorney!

I hired Jill on a two occasions and both were criminal. Jill did an amazing job in both cases. The first case I had all of my major charges dropped which would have resulted in jail time. The second case, Jill did another amazing job. I was looking at a few years in a state facility and Jill ended up working with the DA for me and getting me into a treatment program. Jill is a very knowledgeable person and she goes out of her way to please all of her clients. I, in fact chose Jill over a lot of other high profile lawyers because of her track record and from recommendations from other lawyers in the area that are personal friends.

Jill was my lawyer for my divorce and custody agreement. I have always appreciated her knowledge of the law, negotiation skills, and professional manner. She never pushed me to make a decision, but presented the facts along with my options and allowed me to decide. She is respectful both to her clients as well as the opposing counsel, which I greatly appreciate, and yet she is not a pushover. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking legal advice in a similar matter.

From the very beginning, Eric made the family feel very comfortable and at ease. Eric has a very clam and reassuring personally and he takes the time to listen and explain each step of the process. All legal matters were handled in professional manner and Eric prepared all the required legal documents accurately and were clearly understood by all family members. My experience with this practice has been exceptional. Divorce is hard and everyone’s case is unique, but I think my case has some extraordinarily difficult circumstances. My attorney, Jacob, has gone above and beyond in dealing with some just plain weird developments. He keeps me fully informed and has shown remarkable patience and creativity in handling my case. I know, without any doubt, he has my best interest at heart and will do whatever it takes for me to have the best possible outcome. And everyone at the office is wonderful; friendly and helpful. They are a joy to interact with, and very professional as well. I just had my estate plan done here and Vicki was incredible in preparing everything and sorting all the paperwork when I came in to sign.

Sharon is a lawyer for all the people, she speaks in common language so the client is aware of all coincidences . She helped me, an abused husband, complete a divorce from a adulterous, drug and alcohol abusive wife. Clearly she understands that women do take advantage of their loving husbands. I had my divorce wrapped up in a few months. In an honest effort Sharon is busy with other clients and communication may be slow, but as I found out, good things come to those who wait. I highly recommend Sharon to anyone needing help in a bad situation.

This woman is atrocious! She has been handling our case for the last 3 years. Our papers were signed last January, and she stalled, and didn't submit the papers. It gave my husband time after he and I both signed to change his mind on things. We finally are in agreement again, and told her to submit papers at the beginning of April, and we are STILL waiting. She has the papers signed from both parties, and she still won't just go to the courthouse and submit them!!! We are both with other individuals now, after three years, and just want to be able to move on. This one woman is preventing that from happening. My lawyer has stated that in all 35 years she has been practicing law, she has never had a divorce like this, because of Sharon. She doesn't return phone calls, or emails either. She has her money, and I guess thats all she cares about!!!

This attorney was recommended by an aquaintance so I set up a call to discuss issues surrounding a family trust, power of attorney and other elder care issues. Our initial conversation was positive, however all other communications with him/his office were frustrating. His followup to our inititial conversation took 4 months! The office never responded to my requests. This lawyer wasted my time and money. The experience was regrettable.

We all know how fortunate we feel when we find a good attorney - one we can trust, one who is an expert in his field, and one who has our best interest at heart. That is the way I feel about my attorney, Bill Blumer. I interviewed several other elder law attorneys, but I knew Bill was the right choice for me during our first meeting because of his demeanor and knowledge base. Bill has been my attorney for twelve years now. At one point, my husband was ill and unable to go out, but his signature was required on some documents. Bill very kindly brought them to our home, and explained what was needed in person. We knew it was done right because of Bill's personal involvement. He also guided me through my husband's illness with the nursing home nightmare. Since my husband's death, I've turned to Bill every time I've needed help on my "legal road." He has gone above and beyond what I expected from him. He is an expert on elder law. He explains things so that they are understandable, but never patronizes me. He takes the time to listen to my concerns and answers all of my questions. In short, Bill Blumer is professional, knowledgeable, friendly, kind and trustworthy. I hold him in the highest regard, and I recommend him enthusiastically.

Andrew showed more interest in his paralegal than my case. He never seemed to be hearing anything I told him. He never asked questions or discussed a strategy, and we went into my hearing with him knowing nothing about the history or details of the case, and nothing about my concerns, arguments, opinions. He is young and cocky, and just kept patronizing me saying he had it all under control. The day of the hearing he flirted with his paralegal until the time came to state my case and ask questions of the other party- nothing. He just basically stood up and said to rule in our favor, because. And then he had the nerve to looked stunned when we lost. He looked more insulted actually. Meanwhile, the entire time I'm almost having a heart attack. He just never cared at all and thought he would skate through it with a few phone calls. This man charged me $6,500 for that. He will not put forth any effort, no matter how dire the situation apparently. Dont throw your money at him.

What an Estate Planning Lawyer Can Do for You

An estate planning lawyer helps individuals plan for the management and distribution of their assets after death or during incapacitation. Their services involve drafting important legal documents, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives. Estate planning attorneys work to ensure that your assets are transferred according to your wishes, minimize tax liabilities, and avoid probate court. They also help clients plan for potential long-term care needs and protect their estate from being diminished by healthcare costs.

By working with an estate planning lawyer, you can have peace of mind knowing that your loved ones will be cared for and that your estate will be managed efficiently and according to your desires.

When Should I Hire an Estate Planning Lawyer?

Hiring an estate planning lawyer is beneficial in many situations, especially when you want to ensure that your assets are handled properly after death. Common reasons to hire an estate planning lawyer include:

  • Drafting a will: If you want to clearly define how your assets will be distributed after death, an attorney can draft a legally sound will.
  • Creating a trust: For those looking to avoid probate or provide for loved ones over time, setting up a trust can help manage the distribution of assets.
  • Planning for incapacity: An estate lawyer can help draft powers of attorney and healthcare directives so that your financial and medical decisions are made by someone you trust if you become incapacitated.
  • Minimizing estate taxes: If your estate is large, a lawyer can help create strategies to reduce or eliminate federal and state estate taxes.
  • Special circumstances: If you have minor children, blended families, or complex assets like businesses, an estate planning lawyer can create tailored solutions.
  • Guardianship or conservatorship: If you want to designate guardians for minor children or ensure proper care for incapacitated adults, an attorney can help.

Hiring an estate planning lawyer is especially important if your estate is complex or if you want to ensure that your wishes are properly followed.

What Does an Estate Planning Lawyer Do?

An estate planning lawyer provides a range of services designed to help you organize your affairs and ensure your estate is managed according to your wishes. They can:

  • Draft wills and trusts: Creating legally binding documents that dictate how your assets will be distributed and managed.
  • Create powers of attorney and healthcare directives: Appointing someone to make financial or medical decisions for you if you become incapacitated.
  • Minimize taxes: Developing strategies to reduce estate taxes, gift taxes, and other financial liabilities for your heirs.
  • Help avoid probate: Structuring your estate plan to avoid probate, which can save time and money for your beneficiaries.
  • Advise on long-term care planning: Helping you plan for potential healthcare needs in the future, including Medicaid planning and protecting assets from being depleted by nursing home costs.
  • Assist with beneficiary designations: Ensuring that life insurance policies, retirement accounts, and other financial instruments are correctly designated.
  • Handle probate and estate administration: If a loved one has passed away, an estate planning lawyer can help guide you through the probate process or act as an executor.

How Are Estate Planning Lawyers Paid?

Estate planning lawyers typically charge for their services in one of several ways, depending on the complexity of your estate and the type of services you need. Common payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: Many estate planning services, such as drafting a will or trust, are charged on a flat-fee basis. The fee covers all work related to preparing the document.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex planning, such as estate tax strategy or trust administration, lawyers may charge by the hour. Rates vary based on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Retainer: Some lawyers require a retainer for more complex cases, such as ongoing trust management or estate administration. The retainer is an upfront payment that covers future legal services.

It’s important to discuss fees with your lawyer upfront to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does an Estate Planning Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an estate planning lawyer depends on the complexity of your estate and the services you require. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Simple wills or powers of attorney: A straightforward will or power of attorney may cost between $300 and $1,500, depending on your location and the lawyer’s experience.
  • Trust creation: Establishing a trust, such as a living trust or revocable trust, can cost between $1,000 and $3,000 or more, depending on the complexity of your assets and estate planning needs.
  • Comprehensive estate planning packages: Some lawyers offer packages that include wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives, which may range from $2,000 to $5,000 or more, depending on the estate’s complexity.
  • Hourly rates: For ongoing services like estate administration or tax planning, lawyers may charge hourly rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience.

Always get a clear estimate of costs during your initial consultation to ensure the services fit within your budget.

Top Questions to Ask an Estate Planning Lawyer

Before hiring an estate planning lawyer, it’s important to ask questions to ensure they are the right fit for your needs. Here are key questions to ask during your consultation:

  1. What is your experience with estate planning?
Ensure the lawyer has substantial experience drafting wills, creating trusts, and handling other estate planning services.
  2. How will you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a flat fee or by the hour and ask for a detailed estimate of costs.
  3. What strategies do you recommend for my estate?
A good lawyer should be able to explain the best strategies for minimizing taxes, avoiding probate, and ensuring your assets are distributed according to your wishes.
  4. How often should I update my estate plan?
Ask how frequently you should revisit your estate plan, especially if your financial situation or family dynamics change.
  5. Do you offer ongoing support or updates?
Some lawyers provide periodic reviews or updates to ensure your estate plan stays current with changes in your circumstances or the law.
  6. How will you help my beneficiaries if something happens to me?
Ensure the lawyer is willing to guide your heirs through the estate administration process or help manage your trust after you’re gone.

How to Check the Credibility of an Estate Planning Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a credible estate planning lawyer, follow these steps:

  • Verify their state bar license: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing, with no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for estate planning certifications: Some lawyers are certified as estate planning specialists, which indicates they have extensive knowledge in this area of law.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online reviews on sites like Avvo, Google, or Martindale-Hubbell can provide insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and client satisfaction.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from previous clients who can speak to their expertise and client service.
  • Check for membership in professional organizations: Lawyers who are members of organizations like the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) or the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) often have a strong reputation in the field.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with an estate planning lawyer, it’s important to come prepared. Here’s what you should bring:

  • List of assets and liabilities: Provide a detailed inventory of your assets, including real estate, bank accounts, retirement funds, investments, and personal property, as well as any debts you may have.
  • List of beneficiaries: Be ready to discuss who you want to receive your assets and in what proportions. This includes naming guardians for minor children if applicable.
  • Existing estate documents: Bring copies of any existing wills, trusts, powers of attorney, or other relevant estate planning documents.
  • Questions about your estate goals: Write down your goals, such as avoiding probate, reducing taxes, or setting up charitable donations, so your lawyer can tailor a plan to meet your needs.
  • Information on medical and financial decision-makers: Be prepared to discuss who you want to appoint for healthcare and financial decisions if you become incapacitated.

By being well-prepared, you can ensure a productive consultation and begin building a comprehensive estate plan that meets your needs and protects your loved ones.
