Highly recommend Scott for your maritime issues. With a very questionable and checkered legal history, i was un able to get my 6 pack renewed. After getting denied i didn't know where to turn. I found Bigs & Gunst by reading a review very similar to this one. I gave him a call an to make a long story short, after just a few short months later today i was approved! Fortunately, it’s not often one needs a divorce attorney, nor is it often planned. Ours was not and I was truly blessed to have Andy recommended to represent me. And I was even more fortunate that my husband eventually cancelled his filing. But in the meantime, I had the opportunity to work with Andy and see how he approached the task.
The “success” of the process also depends on both lawyers, not just your own. In my case, I clearly had the better of the two. I’m sure both were competent about the law and the courts, and Andy was able to explain all of that in ways I could understand. For me, I really wanted to have the proceedings handled in a way that was fair, amicable, and respectful of our 50 years together. I sensed that if I needed him to be, Andy could be a tiger. But he also listened, sensed what mattered to me, and was there to try to respect my wishes. He offered me advice as appropriate, but where there were choices, he saw himself as there to represent what I wanted, both in tangible outcomes but also in emotional ones.
I also read his communications with my husband’s lawyer, and those were gracious and respectful as well (unlike my husband’s lawyer).
So I found in Andy a rare combination of talents. I was fortunate to work with him, and you would be as well.
And if you don’t need a divorce attorney, Andy is also an Estate attorney. I have not yet experienced those skills, but I would expect them to be equally masterful and kind.

I am a neighbour who regularly walks my service animal on Washington Street. I was accosted by a sexaganerian in a t-shirt and khaki shorts this morning cominv out the employee entrance asserting dominance over the commons by demanding to know if I picked up after my dog['s urine] from the corner. I knocked on the door to get his name and ask he do not interfere any further in my walking my dog for the rest of time and the meek-mouse receptionist lied to me that she would see if he was there and proceeded to ignore me. She then answered the phone and she claimed they had a right to oversee the public property on their corner and that she would not giving me his name. Based off this lawyer and secretary I have the impression they are busbody wimps and I wouldn't hire them for any litigation that requires honesty in the courtroom.

I was dealing with a very difficult situation, and it was only for a referee hearing our divorce was already final. Lana was very supportive, caring, forthright, and so knowledgeable about all the laws. She helped me stand tall with a difficult ex and took my financial situation into account. She knew that the money I was using was a gift from a friend who had passed away and was very good about ensuring I received what was left when we closed the case. She was able to help me realize he couldn't bully me any longer.. I wish I would have used her for my divorce!! Her care for her clients is amazing and her 1st priority are the children involved and taking care of her clients. She is AMAZING!!! I was absolutely grateful to have found her. Lana is not only very professional, she is a compassionate person. After I was refereed to a lawyer, I decided I wanted to keep looking because I had that feeling that the lawyer seen me as just another case. Then I found Lana. Lana was very different and I am so glad to have run into her. Do yourself a favor and consider her as your attorney. Most recently, she represented me in a dispute with my financial institution. She had to educate this financial institution about the law and was able to resolve the dispute in my favor. She had a better grasp of the financial law than this institution with its team of professional lawyers.
Previously she handled my estate planning & was delightful to work with. She enjoyed fielding my many questions and explaining legal terms to me.
She not only knows the law backwards & forwards, but she has infinite patience to explain it to people in a very respectful, considerate manner.

I was involved in a case and missed the court. When I received the verdict I was desperate. I called 5 different law firms to ask for help, but most of them told me they cannot help me. My colleagues recommended Jacalen's firm. They told me if there is anyone can help me in my case, her firm would be the best place in Ann Arbor area. So I went there hoping there would help me. I was lucky that Jacalen was there and she reviewed my case. She gave me some very professional advises and explained in detail how I could do for my situation. After I hired her as my lawyer in that case, she helped me solved my problem in time. After 4 months, the lawyer from another side in that case came to me again and ask money, saying I owe him about $5,000. I sent Jacalen an email ask for help, she helped me in the second day and the lawyer on the other side admit that the letter ask money from me is a mistake. She helped me again in time. And she did not charge me for this. I do appriate her quick response and very professional, honest, and thoughful service.
In this case, I can see she is a very experienced, honest, and professional lawyer. It is my lucky to have her help me.

Mr. Bourque has a straightforward and clear approach that made him very effective, especially in deposition and cross-examination. He is not theatrical, but he can be incisive both in his written and oral arguments. He explained things clearly to me, even when it wasn't what I wanted to hear -- which I appreciated. He was also more than fair about not charging me for work he did that (through no fault of his) turned out not to be relevant. He is an effective, no-nonsense litigator, and I recommend him without reservations.

I hired Tom after 1.5 years of work with a local mediator and a different divorce attorney could not achieve a settlement in mediation of my divorce. Obviously, I was involved in a very difficult divorce case. There was a farm property involved, nearly 20 years of marriage, and two high school children involved. Tom was brought in for his experience as trial lawyer when my case did go to trial. He has solid background in property laws, and was very helpful in sorting through the legal issues of the property division with the CPA we had working on my case. He was helpful sorting through property tax records to discover the truth needed when we went to trial. Tom is detailed, organized, and a quick thinker when in action in court. His cross examination of witnesses was superb in drawing out the truth and non truths in my case. He was able to do this in a non threatening or hostile manner.
In the end, I got full legal and physical custody of the children, and a fair division of the marital property. I do not wish for any woman to go through the same lengthy (and costly) process that I did. However, if you find yourself in a difficult divorce with property and children involved... and end up going to trial.... I would highly recommend Tom.

I am a business man and have been fighting with my landlord for almost 8 years. Before I hired attorney Park, I had have six attorneys who speak English as their first language. Mr. Owdziej handled my recent separate-maintenance-turned-divorce with impeccable professionalism. Before I hired him, he spent a good deal of time understanding my situation, and answering my many questions. His fees were fair, and he was forthright and honest about what he could/could not do. I lived out-of-state throughout the whole case and he did an excellent job corresponding in a timely manner via e-mail and phone. He was always timely in sending me requisitions, keeping me up to date on what was going on legally.
We had a few challenges when a Draft of the Judgement sent to us from the opposing counsel had numerous errors. But John did not miss a beat - he drafted an alternate judgment quickly, paid attention to all the details, and made sure all my bases were covered. I did not even have to show up for the hearing (a huge relief for me!).
A divorce is a tumultous and painful process in itself, but Mr. Owdziej made the legal aspect as smooth as possible for me. I give my highest recommendation to Mr. John Owdziej, whose attention to detail, informed advice, and forthright attitude, have all the marks of an excellent experienced professional.

Over the past few years, I have worked with many family law attorneys and John is far and away the best. My case with him was uniquely difficult, because I live out of state and there was a tight deadline for filing a reconsideration motion. I called many attorneys in Ann Arbor, and those who called me back highly recommended John. He called me back right away and spent a considerable amount of time understanding my case. He was upfront about the fees (which were very reasonable) and worked very quickly with me to prepare the motion. I've seen a lot of motions these past few years, and John's looked like a brief to the Supreme Court, compared with what I normally see. I felt very confident after he filed the motion and the judge was easily convinced and vacated the prior decision (which was made pro per, before I hired John). I give John my highest recommendation!

My family had an incident where a woman accused our dog of hurting her when he backed into her while obeying an order to sit while at the vet. I have known Jeff for many years and I called him right away. I was referred to Jennifer by the McManus/ Amadeo firm, I was assured she was experienced and could help me with my legal family matter. She charged me 4000 dollars and didn't help me at all. She actually made my problems significantly worse because of her inability to speak clearly, file documents on time, or negotiate with other attorneys. Finally, when I was upset and asking for answers, she just stopped talking to me. I feel like I've been taken for the classic attorney ride. These people don't care about their clients, this is a job for them, they care about your money and they will say anything to get it. I'll end with this, I needed help and advise on a really bad time and I was completely taken advantage of by this law firm.

She is amazing, very nice and personable. Knows her stuff and was able to get the prosecutor and judge to sign an order to reopen a felony case from 7 years ago so that I could immediately plead guilty to a misdemeanor AND put it under 7411, removing it from my public record. This is basically equivalent to an expungement, which I was ineligible for. Actually better because my nonpublic record now only has a misdemeanor instead of a felony, so this was a better way to do it anyway!! Amazing work.
